Opinions de Souk Medina London
We arrived very late, just as the restaurant was about to close, yet they still kindly agreed to welcome us, which was incredibly thoughtful. We were seated in a small, very typical room full of charm — it felt authentic and cozy. The staff were exceptionally kind and attentive, the service was excellent, and the food was truly delicious, with a strong sense of tradition in every dish. They even offered us tea at the end. If you’re visiting London, this place is an absolute must — charming, warm, and genuinely memorable.
Had an amazing meal, couldn’t fault the service and had really welcoming staff. The lamb tagine was cooked absolutely perfectly, also had beef tagine and prawn dish all cooked very well. Will definitely return if we can. Thank you for a lovely meal!
I'd give 10 stars if I could! I had an amazing experience here! The service was great! Me and my friend were treated so well by the amazing staff. The food was something else, we loved it so much! Perfect seasoning in everything. It's a little piece of Morocco in London that everyone should visit! Love love love!! Can't wait to return again and again!
The food were really great. We ordered lamb coucous and a platter of mezze. Even my Palestinian friend said that they tasted original. Sadly the service was a bit down due to error in the ordering machine hence the food came after waiting for an hour. The place is really accessible and the atmosphere is homey.
Came for lunch at this place in September for the first time. After lunch I went with my friend for an ice cream and came back for baklava and shisha. I brought my husband for his birthday in December. Came back with other friends in January. Do you see where I'm going? When you come back so often there can only be good things to say about a restaurant. Food is SO GOOD, staff are super friendly, and the restaurant itself feels so authentic!
I had my birthday party at Souk, hiring the private room in the lower floor which is very beautiful and private. Tje photos came so cute as the atmosphere was like we had taken a plane to Morocco. The private room allowed out group privacy and also made it feel like a proper celebration. I have lived myself in Marocco (for a couple on months) and the food here was exatcly as there, and better than some restaurants I tried in Rabat. The food is delicious, authentic and witj many options. The staff is amazing, they were very helpful in preparation to the ‘party’ and during the dinner. They were very kind and made sure we had all we needed. My guests were tricky as we had three different types of allergies, vegans and vegetarians, and all enjoyed their food and atmosphere wanting to come back. I will totally come back again and would hire it again for private occasions
Forgive my late post but I’ll come straight to the point. It felt like I’m in a Moroccan restaurant in Morocco from the moment I stepped in this ornamental and beautiful hidden gem situated adjacent to Shaftesbury Avenue. Honestly, I’m not gonna lie, even some of those small rooms in this restaurant with tables and seating arrangements felt like in Marrakesh when I went during my holiday years ago. I honestly can’t think of any other Moroccan restaurant anywhere in London when I think of Souk. Please do come here with your friends, family even dates. They’ll enjoy your company and appreciate your choice of place. Please go and walk in and see it yourself. In terms of food and beverages, I would recommend try the Moroccan mint tea, the desserts and of course the couscous and tagine.
**Where would you find the best Moroccan food?** Why, in Central London, of course! Nestled on Lichfield Street, Souk brings an authentic taste of Morocco to the heart of the city. **What sets Souk apart from other restaurants?** The authentically themed decor at Souk is a breath of fresh air compared to the myriad of restaurants that lack creativity and imagination. Walking in, you'll feel like you've been transported to a bustling Moroccan bazaar. **How was the customer service?** Exceptional! We were warmly welcomed by Walid, the friendly and hospitable manager. He added a personal touch to our experience by offering us homemade sweets his mother had sent from Morocco and even gave us fezzes to wear during our meal, he even let us take a fez home with us! Lighthearted fun like this is always welcome and made our visit even more special. **And the food?** The food was excellent! The portions were generous, and every dish was bursting with flavor. We opted for the 3-course prix fixe menu. For starters, we enjoyed Labneh, Hummus, Falafel, and a thimble of harissa paste. The mains, consisting of chicken tagine and lamb tagine, were slow-cooked to perfection—soft and incredibly flavorsome. Desserts included a delightful selection of homemade baklava, Turkish delights, all finished off with a pot of Moroccan mint tea. **Was it value for money?** Absolutely. The entire meal, which was competitively priced at £95 for the two of us, offered excellent value. Coupled with the outstanding food and impeccable customer service, Souk is a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic Moroccan dining experience in Central London.
My friend and I had a wonderful evening! The staff gave us a very warm welcome. The food was, of course, excellent and plentiful. I highly recommend it!
Delicious Moroccan food and lovely service. Visited for a catch up with friends and our group shared the Marrakesh and Casablanca feasts which we all really loved. Our service was kind and attentive, offering excellent recommendations. I am not sure why others have given low reviews but we loved our experience and would certainly come back.
It was our first time here and we had an absolutely amazing time. The food was hearty with vegetarian options and the service was above and beyond, even though they were limited on staff. Would definitely recommend!
I went here for dinner, it was fabulous. The falafel and tajine were excellent, and the staff were very kind and helpful. Prices were reasonable for London. If you're in Soho, it's a must-try.
Staff are so welcoming and hospitable, it feels like you are being welcomed into someone's home in a sense. Food was delicious and thoughtfully prepared. Samir was my server and he was super sweet
I had a dinner with my friends and we tried different dishes, all of which were delicious especially the Royal Couscous, Lamb Tagine and Pastilla. The atmosphere and the decoration were impressive, I loved how patient and welcoming the staff were with a tone of humour. My friends and I had the time of our lives in this restaurant I would deffo recommend it! Thanks to all the people working there for providing us with such a splendid experience
A jewel of a restaurant right in the heart of the theatre district. Serving real Moroccan food at sensible prices. We had the Marrakesh feast set menu, loads of super tasty food, I highly recommend the lamb tagine, bottle of wine and a piña colada with service charge came to £143.
The food is really tasty and transports you to North Africa.. A hidden gem in central London that I wish I'd discovered sooner. The ambience is really warm and cosy, with very charming decor.. The staff are also super welcoming and make you feel completely at home :)
A nice Moroccan restaurant in central London, with a very atmospheric decor too. They have vegan tajines and serve Lebanese wine which I couldn’t find elsewhere.
Delicious food, great service, my partner felt like she was back in Morocco for a moment Thank you, enjoyed it a lot! Reasonably priced too, expect to spend 30pp approx. We had the marrakesh feast, yummy. Also, the portions are generous, got to pack some to take home to eat for lunch the next day!
Superb restaurant, had the lamb and chicken tagines with cous cous for main courses as part of a 4 course set menu. All the food was delicious, big portion sizes, we could barely finish. Hummus, halloumi, and yoghurt with bread for starter, Baklava for dessert was great too and finished off with a nice mint tea. Interior is lovely, very authentic Moroccan, relaxing and vibrant atmosphere. Amazing value for money, using Tastecard. Service was outstanding and friendly from Mehdi and Walid. Thank you guys, we will be back again and reccomend this place to everyone.
Beautiful place and gorgeous food. I read reviews online and I'm glad they were true! Made all the better by such friendly staff. The food was quick and so delicious. We had the Marrakesh Feast menu and shared between two. It was perfect. We also need ate downstairs in a cute little alcove away from other tables - so cosy! The place has amazing decor (think Moroccan market) and colours. We didn't try the Shisha upstairs - but it's there and very popular. Will definitely be back!
Very good Morocco restaurant in heart of London Food and service was excellent For sure will come back again
One of the best Moroccan restaurant in London ! Everything so fresh and tasty. Great service !
Oh, what a treat! Stumbled across this restaurant after a few drinks at The Cambridge on Shaftesbury Avenue, and voila: a little haven, or oasis of North Africa tucked away in the West End of London. From the decor to the customer service, the experience was a delight. The food delicious and a treat to the taste buds. The price was right too, a couple of cocktails, beer, starter and main meal came to just over £71.00. What a bargain. What a place. Excellent. Worth more than 5 stars!!
Thought I'd already written a review but seems it slipped my mind which just gives me the chance to do one now instead. I brought a good friend here who had never had North African cuisine before. To watch her being blown away by the flavour explosions of the wonderful food prepared by the head chef this evening will be one of the memories I will cherish for years to come. We each had a tagine (I had lamb and my friend opted for chicken) and the flavours were so beautifully balanced and delicate. Every bite is a little different from the one before and the meat is so unbelievably tender and succulent - the chicken falls of the bone just by looking at it. Tagine is a favourite dish of mine and Souk just take it to the next level. We had Labneh Z'aatar with some pitta for starter and the lovely tanginess of the yoghurt balanced with the fresh mint and Z'aatar olive oil makes this for a light starter allowing you to enjoy the food without getting too full for the main course. As dessert, we were treated to a small sample of their newest additions to the menu - Kanafeh cheese and Semoulina. This was my first time trying these as well and I swear I've never had anything so light, fluffy and absolutely scrumptious. Again, the flavours were rich but delicate and paired with the always delicious Moroccan mint tea we felt like we were in heaven and both felt the need to close our eyes to just savour the tastes of each bite. After this, I convinced my friend to try proper Turkish delight and baklava as again she had never tried beyond the chocolate bar and M&S versions. Once again, the transformation on my friend's face as she discovered how delicious each of these are when done right. The service was a chapter onto itself. Friendly, welcoming and attentive without hovering as you often find in other places. We ended up spending 3 hours or so and didn't even notice because it was cosy and relaxed. The atmosphere and decor of the restaurant feels authentic too and you almost forget you're in London and haven't been transported to Morocco. You, dear reader, may think I'm gushing (which I am, yes) but I cannot fully express how much I enjoy coming to Souk and how happy I have rediscovered it after having "lost" it during the pandemic. And bringing a friend to try this amazing place and wonderful cuisine for the first time has been an absolute pleasure and joy. I will most certainly be back and bringing as many of my friends as I possibly can - and I can only recommend you do the same! And if you're trying this for the first time, I truly hope you will enjoy this beginning of a flavourful and delectable journey, you are embarking on... Update: tried the chocolate cake... I'm in heaven! So so good.
I really loved the food literally the best image to give of Moroccan food, especially the Zaalouk and the chicken tajines 😋😋 very delicious !! Many thanks to the souk staff 🥰
We visited for an early dinner and they were able to accommodate us. The food was delicious and service was quick and friendly. It’s a small place, with a very Moroccan village decor, which was a nice touch. The portion sizes were appropriate but not proportional to the price as you would expect in London. All in all it was a good experience and we will visit again.
Great atmosphere. Decorations on point. The kind of place you go to chill with friends, evening or lunch, either is fantastic spot! There's quite a lot on the menu, but they're simple and easy to understand. Price is also good.
Souk: Where Authenticity Meets Excellence Souk is a haven of warmth and flavor and provided an unforgettable dining experience. From our cozy private seating to the tantalizing dishes, every moment was infused with authenticity and delight. We savored the creamy yogurt and pita bread, indulged in the succulent grilled chicken, and ended on a sweet note with the heavenly baklava. Shukraan to the chef for crafting such culinary masterpieces. Walid, our attentive waiter, elevated our experience with impeccable service, making us feel truly welcome and cared for throughout the evening. The opportunity to try traditional fez hats added a playful touch, while the Arabian music set the mood for a memorable dining experience! We would rate a genuine five-star experience and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a more private and hospitable setting! Shukraan for a truly unforgettable day!
The food was tasty! We ordered from the set menu and had the Marrakech feast, my gosh it was a feast for kings! The food was fresh and service we got was great. The Mint tea was delicious as well! Will definitely be coming back and with more people to share the feast! We only managed to get a picture of starters and we was too excited to tuck into the Tagine!
Souk is one of the best Moroccan restaurants in whole of London. The food is very fresh and delicious, extremely friendly staff, and great atmosphere. Highly recommended to all.
Definitely one of the best Moroccan restaurants you could ever find in town… Thank you Walid for everything, the welcoming was so special, the atmosphere… the food was great! Everything was good, I definitely recommend it to everyone who’s looking for a beautiful and authentic Moroccan atmosphere in London. Would definitely come back again. ❤️✨🇲🇦🇲🇦
Post matinee theatre meal, we each had a Delicious Tagine with plain couscous at a very reasonable price. Beautiful authentic decor and genuinely friendly and courteous staff. Surprisingly quiet for 5:30pm. Didn’t book in advance but plenty of tables free. The fresh Moroccan Mint tea was divine. Definitely going back the next time I’m in the West End.
The star of the show here is the venue itself, it’s super cosy with a fantastic book right at the back! The food is varied and there’s options for meat eaters and vegans which makes it a nice place to go for all types of people at the same time. Staff really friendly and welcoming. Food has good flavours and generally seemed a decent quality for the price, I’ll be back for sure.
I thought this place was lovely. Staff was very friendly and happy and the value for money is good too. The fixed menus cover everything you would want from a big dinner for a reasonable price, and it tastes good. Apparently they get exotic dancers in the weekends. I went to Souk Medina during lunch on a Friday for the first time and felt compelled to write a review because the place is wonderful. The food is good, great mezze options, good drinks, prepared fresh and perfectly seasoned. You can tell the place has a real heart and is clearly independently run, I did like this place might pay another visit, they Also do shisha if that’s your thing. Overall atmosphere is really authentic and good.
What a gem of a place my friend and I found for a pre-theatre dinner very close to St Martins theatre on Monday! The authentic Moroccan decor, delicious food was a lovely surprise and we really felt like we were in Morocco with the local music playing in the background! Our young very attentive waiter was a relative of the owner, very sweet guy. My coat even matched the beautiful upholstery haha! 😁
We had a lovely and tasty dinner. We found this place on the taste card app and they treated us very kindly and fed us well. Their couscous is superb, comes with lots of tasty vegetables on top. Their tagines were very tasty and generous in portion too. I have deducted a star because I thought the hummus and raita were a little bland, but a tiny bit of seasoning would fix it! Falafels were very good though, as well as their cocktails! I want to mention that the atmosphere was very calm and we felt like at home. We will return!
Souk is such a hidden gem in the middle of central London! Came here with my friend for some early dinner and the place is gorgeous. The food was good too! The chicken tagine was a bit bland but the beef tagine was succulent and fallling off the bone!!
With an exquisite Arabian and Mediterranean furnishing, this restaurant sets itself apart with a more personal and homely setting and eating experience. Wherever you seat, you feel a sense of privacy, The lighting ambience further enhances the perception. And the food? It’s got everything you can expect from Arabian/Mediterranean influenced culinary. Tastes amazing and the price is not beyond the expected... for the location. Is there a time when smiling is too much to point of bother? I almost felt that way at some point... but eh! It could just be me. Undoubtedly friendly and helpful staff... Souk is definitely worth visiting again.
The decorative in the restaurant is nice. Food was served very slow even we were the only table for a Sat. lunch. We like the garlic aubergine starter but the Harira soup was a bit too salty. For the main dishes, chicken Tagine with prune was too sweet; mixed grill came with very tough/dry meat, although the “gravy” sauce was nice, it’s not a memorable dish; and the grilled octopus wasn’t very good quality of seafood. In general, we were slightly disappointed…
Saturday night meal in what is a cosy place with a good touch of morroco. The seating however is a little worn out. Overall the decor is quite pleasant. The service was horrible but had the cheek to add service charge. No attention given and always a struggle to request anything as never around. This place allows indoor smoking of shisha along with the food so not suitable for children and anyone with breathing issues. The prices was quite high for what was served but expected due to location. The king prawn starter was a triumph. Loved it. But the portions vs price was very small. The humous was lovely with the soft pitta bread. The main course was presented like it was just slapped on a plate. Lamb steak with rice and chicken skewers with rice. It was ok... I wouldn't buy it again tho. I wouldn't come here again for a full on meal. Maybe drop in for some starters if I was passing by. Unfortunately what stuck in my mind was the terrible service we received for the kind of price we paid. Awful.
Food was way too sweet and portions was tiny. We got less than a cup of couscous each! Not very tasty. Waiter was friendly though
The order took an age to be delivered to the table and once it arrived the portion size was so small for the price. And the waiter was always downstairs, barely available upstairs for requests. The bottle of 2L water was £5 and pot of mint tea was £15 and didn't taste great either. It's not exactly a great fancy restaurant but the prices are extortionate.
All this was £70. I don't think I would've paid if we didn't have the 50% discount as definitely not worth it. Service was terrible the waitress was acting like it was a burden to serve us as soon as we said we have a taste card. The food also tasted like it has just been defrosted, not fresh at all. Definitely would not have paid the service charge if we were already not getting a discount.
Really disappointed, do not recommend! The food arrived cold, too pricey and the portions are very small. The food had no flavor, no seasoning, it doesn’t have any taste and I even waited an hour for the food to arrive. This is not authentic North African food.
