My friends and I visited Penelope's for a birthday celebration, and we chose the Pre-theatre menu. The food absolutely blew me away. I was honestly beyond impressed with the flavour from each dish, and the staff were very lovely and made our experience one to remember. I cannot recommend Penelope's enough! I would say it's definitely worth the price, with a 3 course meal coming up to £32. Staff always ask for any dietary requirements, and food is carefully prepared. The ambience is just amazing, with a gorgeous interior and beautiful lighting to add to it. I have tried all of the food on the pre-theatre menu, and all of it is very filling and I'm left impressed each time I go!

Penelope’s: where flavour meets flair 🧡 Last night, we had the pleasure of dining @penelopes.london, a hidden gem located @amanocoventgarden. This isn’t just any restaurant; it’s an immersive dining experience that artfully blends the bold flavours of Israeli and Spanish cuisine. From the moment we stepped inside, we knew we were in for something extraordinary. The evening kicked off with an array of tapas-style starters that were as visually stunning as they were delicious. The calamari, served in black challah with coriander aioli, was a symphony of flavours. But it was the roasted Israeli aubergine that truly captivated us. Cooked to tender perfection, it had a slight vegetal bitterness that was beautifully balanced by a tahini soy dressing, all topped with zesty pomegranate. Each bite was a celebration of textures and tastes. For our main course, we shared the 12-hour braised beef short rib, and it was nothing short of spectacular. The meat was so tender it practically melted in the mouth, and the rich, deep flavours left us savouring every last morsel. But the evening didn’t end there. We couldn’t resist the allure of Penelope’s signature dessert - the baklava cheesecake. A perfect marriage of creamy cheesecake with the nutty sweetness of baklava, accompanied by a refreshing orange basil sorbet, it was the kind of dessert that lingers in your memory long after the last bite. The atmosphere at Penelope’s was lively and vibrant, striking the perfect balance between energetic and intimate. The drinks menu deserves special mention too, offering a sensational selection of gins, rums, mezcal, and a carefully curated wine list that perfectly complemented the meal. And of course, none of this would have been possible without the exceptional team at Penelope’s. Their attentive service and deep knowledge of the menu made our dining experience truly unforgettable.

The food was super tasty and the service was spot on. We celebrated my friend’s birthday here, and the restaurant surprised us with a cute little dessert—so sweet of them! The staff were really friendly and funny, and they even helped set up the cake perfectly without charging extra. Loved the vibe!

What an experience! Amazing food, guy starts playing a saxophone, DJ playing bangers, given flashing tiaras. So much fun and brilliant vibes! Food was excellent all round with highlights being the Coco bread, tuna ceviche, beef short rib (omg), and baklava cheesecake. Top notch service from Raju and lovely chilled out rooftop bar with stunning views. Highly recommend for a more fun and lively dining experience.

Penelope’s is truly a gem. The food alone deserves endless praise. The chicken shawarma was tender and flavourful, the artichoke paella was cooked to absolute perfection, and the tuna ceviche genuinely changed my opinion on fish (I normally avoid it, but this was outstanding). Every dish had a depth of flavour that showed how much thought went into it. The atmosphere was lively and warm, with a perfect balance of class and fun. We were treated to live saxophone music at our table, and the DJ, Babe, curated an incredible mix that kept the energy flowing. The music, just like the food, carried a sense of novelty that was constantly engaging, diverse, and exciting. Special thanks to Mario, Evan, Raj, and the rest of the staff for their attentive and welcoming service. The team made us feel comfortable and celebrated from start to finish. The drinks were also excellent. The pomegranate mocktail was refreshing, and the virgin mojito was one of the best I have had. Penelope’s is the perfect place to bring friends if you want to treat yourselves and enjoy a night that feels special. 10/10, I cannot wait to come back.

We had a fab pre-theatre meal here (from £28pp + drinks, service), delicious with lovely presentation. Favourites were the beetroot starter and the trout in saffron sauce. Our waiter Raj was especially attentive and happy to discuss in detail each dish. It was quiet when we arrived, so we had drinks first in the rooftop bar.

Food was BOMB!!!!!!! We tried a set course meal- serving time was super quick and vibes were immaculate! :) James and Alice were lovely and super attentive throughout the night! Theres also a really cute rooftop bar as well with a nice view- wish we could've stayed longer (hopefully when it's much warmer!)

Stunning interior, great food and fabulous service! Really enjoyed our meal here- we heard the Roasted Aubergine and Baklava Cheesecake are the most popular dishes here so we had to try it and didn’t disappoint! Must visit on a Saturday night where the party begins with a DJ and live sax performance 🎷 Thank you Raj for being such a top tier host!

Amazing experience from start to finish, Alice and Raju delivered an excellent service and made us feel welcome. The food was great, from the starters up until the dessert. Great wine and a nice rooftop bar with an amazing view.

Beautiful restaurant, great menu and lovely staff. My friend was gluten and dairy free, our waiter was so knowledgable of the menu, and broke down exactly what my friend could and couldn’t have - we felt reassured and all the food was amazing. It was also her birthday and they went above and beyond to make it special. Thank you!

Absolutely amazing place…❤️❤️❤️love the fact that it is an open kitchen so you can see exactly what the chef are doing, but also they engage with clientele after service. Service by all the staff is absolutely fantastic the food was lovely and you could tell by the menu what options were available for those with specific dietary requirements. We shared all of the dishes.. should have taken more pictures the video is from the serving counter. The venue has a DJ who was playing some amazing music where you just had to get up and dance and enjoy!! Definitely somewhere I would go again without hesitation!!

I went there for the first time yesterday for dinner with friends and we really had one of the most epic nights in London. Beautiful restaurant, great atmosphere (saxophone, DJ, sparkles) everyone dancing at some point during the meal, amazing service and delicious food. I really recommend it to all my friends and family. See you soon!

The food was amazing I would recommend the calamari and the sea bass. I also had the chicken sofrito and the seafood on fire, very high class restaurant would definitely take my friends here for an amazing evening again I was served by a very lovely guy named Christian. He was so funny and he really looked after us.

Penelope’s is a gorgeous restaurant with an opulent Dubai-inspired interior. Rich mahogany, a brass colour palate and mood lighting give Penelope’s a warm and intimate feeling. I absolutely adored the food! The standout dish for me was the Ox Cheek, the meat was tender and the sauce was incredible flavourful and balanced well with the sweet Chestnut Dukka and Jerusalem Artichoke. We also enjoyed the Calamari, Roasted Israeli Aubergine, Pork Belly and had the delicious Baklava Cheesecake for dessert! I had a delightful dinner with my girlfriends here and we all enjoyed ourselves. It would also be the perfect spot for a romantic dinner due to the low-light ambiance which creates an intimate feel ☺️

The food was super tasty and full of authentic flavor, and the service was spot on. The staff were really friendly and made the whole experience so enjoyable. Loved the vibe and the way the culture really comes through in the dishes—such a great spot to share a meal with friends!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Penelope, and it was an unforgettable experience, thanks in large part to the exceptional service provided by Paulo and Carla. Paulo, undoubtedly the best staff member, demonstrated unparalleled politeness and genuine care throughout our meal. His attention to detail and warm demeanor made us feel incredibly welcomed and valued. Carla, the hostess, was equally impressive. From the moment we walked in, she greeted us with a friendly smile and ensured that we were comfortably seated. Her attentiveness and friendly nature set a wonderful tone for the evening. The combination of Paulo's outstanding service and Carla's attentive hospitality truly enhanced our dining experience. Penelope is fortunate to have such dedicated and exceptional team members. I look forward to returning and enjoying another fantastic dinner!

Delicious food and drinks - the eggplant, the mezze platter, the celeriac were amazing (though we were less impressed with the shrimp). Cocktails are delicious, the decor/vibe is great and the service is good (though they seemed a bit inexperienced, might just be new to the location). Will definitely be back!

I absolutely love the scenery, I’m not a fan of restaurants with very bright lights at night so this was incredibly perfect. The music was great and amazing volume cause I could speak with my friend and not scream or potentially set myself up to lose my voice at the end of the night. The meals were so delicious. I’ve never seen black calamari’s before haha was excited to try it and it was 10/10. Roasted Israeli aubergine ( for vegetarians was chefs kiss ) The lamb was juicy and perfectly spiced. Not a fan of pork but I tried this one and it was yum! If there’s one thing you must try ? It’s the Baklava cheesecake with pistachio and honey syrup. Heavenly! Service was great the manager Paulo was super friendly and kept asking if we we’re alright and I just felt at home. I would definitely be visiting again.

Pre theatre dinner date for two. We were curious to try the Israeli Spanish fusion food. We were the first guests at the restaurant and it was quiet - the music could have been better but it didn’t really bother us. We had the roasted aubergine - pleastly surprised by the roasted corn as I am not a fan of corn kernels- and pork belly- both were tasty given that sometimes ‘fusion’ cusine does not really work. For mains, we had the spiced cod ( fish was perfectly cooked, couscous and escabeche were a great combination) and the chicken shawarma (huge portion and delicious- would have preferred the amba marinade sauce in a bowl rather than a splatter- but that is a personal preference). Rashida, our waitress, was really good- attentive in a non intrusive way. We didn’t have any dessert or drinks. Perfect beginning to a good night out.

“So here it is good! It is NOT BAD!” As my better half eloquently put it. Jokes aside, great value for money and all the dishes very well curated and scrumptious. Service attentive and with great recommendations. Live dj helped by live saxophonist add to the atmosphere. Beef was super tender and succulent. The calamari are insanely tasty. Hamon iberico ok. Mushroom and kale with plenty of flavours. Salad with figs tasty. Tiradito very good. We skipped the deserts as we were too full… will check those next time around. Mango non alcoholic drink was sublime though.

Beautiful place with a wonderful atmosphere. Very close to a few theatres, so very good to have a pre-theatre menu there which is delicious.

food was amazing! Unique combination between Israeli ingredients and spanish way of cooking. A must try in London I would say! This is such a hidden gem in Covent Garden - away from the crowd, unique flavours, very beautiful interior and nice atmosphere. The lamb rump is a killer. I haven’t tried any lamb steak as tender as this!!!

Excellent early evening meal last night. Staff were all lovely and professional. Really interesting menu with lots of choice. We went for 4 small plates and one large plate between 2. The octopus paella was great and the puddings - cheesecake delicious.

What an incredible place! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was great, the decor was stylish and the service was some of the best I’ve experienced in London. I booked this restaurant for pre-theatre menu as we had lion king to catch. The location is amazing, just a few steps away from the theatre. Nice staff, cloak room just at the entrance of the restaurant, which is so relaxing! I would appreciate the google map direct me to the entrance of the restaurant directly rather than the hotel entrance where the restaurant is at… I had to come out of the hotel and walk backwards.. but it was okay. The pre-theatre menu was not bad. If not hungry, go for 2 course instead of 3, the portion is generous and it’s just v v delicious. We wanted to try more dishes so I ordered 3 course and mom ordered 2. We shared one dessert.

I dined at Penelope’s yesterday evening with a friend. She is vegan, and I follow a vegan, and gluten-free diet. The team kindly created a bespoke menu just for us, and it was absolutely delicious. We were looked after with genuine warmth and friendly smiles throughout. From the starter to the main course, each dish was presented with fine attention to detail — beautifully plated and, quite simply, magically flavourful. We were both thoroughly delighted with the experience. Truly top-notch — highly recommended!

Booked a table before the theatre and had the pre theatre menu. Absolutely fantastic! Beautifully presented food which was delicious. I had the aubergine and chicken shawarma - so good! We ordered two of the baklava cheesecakes between 4 of us and we instantly wished we had ordered one each - I don’t usually like baklava or cheesecake but this was amazing!!

We had our pre-show dinner here. Lovely plush space, serving good food with interesting flavours. 4.5/5

We were looking for a Spanish restaurant and Penelope was within walkable distance from our hotel so we booked a table. It is a restaurant within a hotel and so we had high expectations. The service and ambience were good. As for the food we enjoyed the nibbles and the cocktails. The octopus paella was also fantastic. However, if you are into seafood dishes you might find the hoso prawn a little disappointing because we found sand inside them which meant they were not prepared properly. Overall above average due to good atmosphere and service.

Beautiful restaurant with warm lighting and ambience. Card only. I did not know this and it caused problems when settling the bill. Sometimes systems crash and I'm pretty sure that they would suddenly accept cash if the machines didn't work. The pre theatre meal is great value. Some clever concepts on display from the chefs. I would love to return but not until they accept my cash.

Had the Tasting Menu for our anniversary. We had to prepay when booking and to our surprise the menu changed in the interim. Options were very tasty and nicely presented. We thought the aubergine ought to be warmer but were reassured it was meant to be eaten at room temperature only. Getting 3 gambas for a sharing tasting menu for two felt odd too. Other than that no fault with the food as it was all very tasty. Service felt a bit rushed, we were eating out on Mo evening and it wasn't busy at all. Waiter asked us at the beginning and we re-iterated we are not in a rush and courses could come in order. Nevertheless we got through 5 courses in just about 60min barely leaving us time to finish our bottle of wine. Stand out dish was definitely the Baklava Cheesecake at the end which came with a nice note and a lovely gesture from the manager, which was highly appreciated. Small discrepancy with the prepayment, which was not restaurant's fault and was dealt very professionally by the manager too.

The atmosphere was amazing, great music and lovely people. Regarding the service, the host wasn't too pleasant that night, much attitude. And finally the food was below average, very overpriced, a small portion, and some of it we couldn't even eat since it tasted off. Even though I must say the drinks were nice and also the cheese cake was really tasty. Overall, I believe you pay for the atmosphere and the good vibes, the rest is a bonus in that case.

B

The atmosphere is electric and bursting with energy, creating an unforgettable dining experience. With lively music and non-stop entertainment, the restaurant radiates a vibrant, party-like ambiance that captivates from the moment you step in. The food, however, presented a mixed bag. I tried an array of dishes: croquetas, grilled prawns, tuna ceviche, calamari, chicken shawarma, goat and sheep cheese with raspberry, and salmon tiradito. While the prawns and ceviche were good, the calamari was disappointingly black and tasted burnt. The chicken shawarma, touted as a generous portion, fell short of expectations, and the salmon tiradito left much to be desired. Despite the culinary shortcomings, the overall experience was great, thanks to the exceptional entertainment, refreshing drinks, and pulsating music. The staff was incredibly attentive and charming, providing great service that deserves a five-star rating. For the food, though, I'd have to give a more modest three stars.

F
Flo

We were a little disappointed. Waiter was lovely, but everything was just a little slow given that it was half empty. I think they were distracted and setting up for a larger group. Steak was overcooked but we couldn't send back as we had a show to catch. They did help celebrate a birthday which was a nice touch, but overall for the price we paid a la cart, it wasn't good value overall.

N
Nash Mishra

Very rude staff at the door. Food arrived cold and it was an awful Valentine's experience. When I told the waiter the food was cold he just stared at me. We had also got a bottle of wine and kept having to wait ages and ask multiple times for our glass to be refilled. On top of that a very large bill to foot for mediocre food and small portions. I wish I could have spent that evening elsewhere.

O
Oliver S

From the moment we sat down, it was clear this evening was going to be about squeezing as much money out of as many people as possible — not hospitality. We arrived just after 8pm and were seated around 10 minutes later. Our pre-ordered wine finally arrived at 8:30pm, at which point our waiter immediately informed us that we had the table until 10pm. An immediate red flag. Given Penelope’s reputation for Saturday night dinner and dancing, it never crossed our minds that we’d be unceremoniously turfed out after two hours. The food was, at best, inconsistent. Starters were decent. Mains arrived lukewarm, side dishes came at different times, the octopus was completely inedible, and the steak was average at best. One steak was sent back. Bottles of wine sat unopened on the table because no one could be bothered to come back and open them. The entire service felt rushed, careless, and amateur. At 9:50pm, dessert arrived. The cheesecake was genuinely very good — the only standout of the night. At exactly 10pm we attempted to order another bottle of wine and were bluntly told that the next party had arrived and we needed to leave. Only then did we check our reservation, which clearly stated 8pm–12am, with absolutely no mention of a two-hour limit. The staff had no interest whatsoever in resolving this. Instead, we were simply ignored until we gave up and left. Given that the booking was prepaid, it felt very much like Penelope’s were trying to cash in on two table bookings for the same table, despite our reservation clearly stating otherwise. Frankly, I felt sorry for whoever was booked in at 10pm — if this is how they treat paying guests, I can only imagine the chaos. To make matters worse, the dancing hadn’t even started when we were forced out. So we paid a premium price for an average meal, poor service, and none of the atmosphere that’s so heavily marketed. The promise of Tel Aviv energy, great food, and dancing turned into nothing more than an overpriced dinner with staff who clearly couldn’t care less. For what we paid, this was shockingly poor. A cynical, money-grabbing operation masquerading as a “night out.” We won’t be returning.
