Was doubtful of ordering here after reading some bad reviews but I’m glad I didn’t listen. I ordered the meal deal for one which you get a starter, main and side (I got veg spring rolls, vegan pad kee mao and chips) It’s really good value and ordered via Uber eats which had a £10 off deal so I paid just over £8! The spring rolls were lovely, nice and big, crispy and the veg was slightly crunchy and fresh which is how I like it! Only thing I’d wish for is for a little more flavour, the garlic flavour was there but maybe some fresh ginger would take it to a whole new level! They were really nice though and paired well with the sweet chilli dip they give you. The pad kee mao was DELICIOUS! I couldn’t eat it all as it was so big but will be my lunch tomorrow! Loads of different fresh veg packed in, really nice flat noodles and a lovely flavour which also has a nice fresh chilli kick! They even give you a lime wedge too! The chips were SO nice too! They’re similar to kfc chips and you get loads! Definitely recommend!
Really great food. Ordered for the fourth time earlier today and received the food which I knew wasn't up to their usual standard. I called the restaurant about it and the manager kindly offered a replacement which was very tasty. Will definitely order again. One of the best Thai places around.
I am not exaggerating about this place but honestly, if you want real quality Thai Food and if your lucky enough for your postcode to be in its delivery area, you really should order food there. This is my 9th order and thought it is about time I should leave a review. Great work and well done to the chef there.
I'm from India and live in London. By relegion, I'm vegetarian. However, chicken is the only exception I make, especially when I travel on work (and no, four leaves with some carrots and cucumber don't sum up a vegetarian meal from where I come from!). My initial exposure to Thai food have been in (upscale) Thai restaurants in India. Each one of them was great but I guess the taste was modified a bit to suit the Indian palate. However, when I moved to UK and tried a few Thai restaurants in UK and W.Europe, I was just appalled. The taste was nothing close to what I had eaten before, not even remotely in the vicinity of being close to what I was expecting. Almost every dish had a 'fishy' smell to it (I guess they used fish oil for everything) and there was no other taste except salt, mostly. So with this experience, I was a friend's house last weekend (27-Nov-16), and he ordered for some Thai food for all of us from Hungry Buddha (via the HungryHouse app). Without too much expectations, I ordered for some Chicken Satay and Chicken Red Curry (sort of my staple order when it comes to Thai food). Firstly, the delivery was quick, 30 mins. Also, I was just blown away by how tasty the food was (and this was without giving any instructions to the chef, etc etc, just via the app). The chicken was succulent with no nasty after taste, and the curry was just brilliant. My wife and my friends still can't believe how much I liked the food, they still think I'm being sarcastic since they know I don't prefer Thai for the aforementioned reasons. Anyway, the food was excellent, thats what matters. I haven't been to the restaurant but I do look forward to visiting them or at least ordering from them again soon.
Amazing food!!! My favourite has to be the chicken satay for starters! Food is quality in taste and service is always great. Never had a bad experience with them. Totally recommend ordering from here and suggest the Tom Yom soup!
I'm a regular at this place. Loove the Thai fish cakes and chicken satay for starters. Also love the massaman curry and and teriyaki wings. Noodles are also very tasty. Very generous portion sizes. Some sort of salad with peanuts also very tasty not sure what the name is now. Would definately recommend and the people I've recommended to have also loo es the food from here.
Never been disappointed with food from Hungry Buddha. Flavours are always on point. Tried the Chicken Pad Kra Pow today, this was full of flavour, if you fancy something with a slight kick this is the dish for you.
Very impressed, turned up at the premises as we thought it was a restaurant and not a take away service. Very friendly staff who invited us in to watch our order being cooked. Clean kitchen and obviously fresh products. Very fragrant and tasty food. Would recommend.
Absolutely delicious and best takeaway I think I’ve ever had! Great value Meal for 2, chicken green curry and lamb massaman curry were both fantastic!!
Best Thai takeaway in East London. Ordered from here as I saw over 4000 reviews on je. wasn't disappointed. Great green curry.
Ordered here many times. Food hygiene rating 5/5. Food always fragrant, fresh and meat dishes have plenty of meat. Love it. Green curry and massaman the best ones.
Ordered twice via Uber eats. Packaged well. Food prepared well. Prices are decent. Good portions. Delivered very quickly.
Had the chilli basil fried rice with tofu - was delicious - good spice, could have used a little more veg and tofu but still highly recommend:)
I live in America and have never been to this place... I googled “The Hungry Buddha” cuz I was thinkin of makin a restaurant called that. I knew I couldn’t be the first to think of such a name. I see ya have 3.5 stars. Here’s a 5er for ya since we both have good taste in restaurant name ideas lol... Good luck to you. If I ever come to the U.K. I’ll definitely eat there...
Can’t fault. This is top quality stuff. Each item individually labelled and packaged well. The flavours in each dish are absolutely divine. And not heavily over priced either.
Great curry! Ordered online and accidentally received the wrong order, phoned them back and a super helpful, very professional gentleman sorted it out with such care! Based on that I’ll be back for sure!
Best Thai food I’ve ever had and the meal deals are great value for money. All the food is amazing value for money and I strongly recommend.
Best Thai food I've had after a long time! Food was very high quality and flavoursome. Highly recommended it 👌
The best Thai food I have ever tasted by miles. I didn't like Thai until I tried hungry Buddha. Will book this place out again
Just great. It arrived 5 minutes early. Really carefully wrapped and delicious and plenty for supper tomorrow. What's not to like?! Thanks guys.
Food is delicious but delivery was in plastic containers which is mishappen because food was too hot for the plastic containers. Don’t know if it’s save to eat food from plastic containers that has warp due up high temperature of its content, could some of the plastic melt and leach into the food? Will I get cancer or health issues later? It’s a dilemma, but the food is delicious so I decided to consume it anyway.
Ordered a bunch of thai dishes on uber eats. It’s strange, that judging by other reviews here it seems as if they also sell japanese foods, yet it was presented solely as a thai restaurant on the app. Anyway, it was pretty good. Ordered a meal deal for two that consisted of two starters, two entrees and two sides: chicken satay, spring rolls, massaman curry lamb, chicken pad thai, jasmine and chicken fried rices. Only reasons I don’t give 5 stars are that they sent three different sauces and none was hot. At all. The pad thai was pretty good but it felt a little bland. I’m a pretty hot eater but I’m trying to keep it neutral. Pretty decent meal overall; recommended but ask for some hot sauce if you’re like me!
Ordered food from here tonight based on a recommendation from a friend. The big problem was that we ordered it at 18:20 on their own website and was told that if we ordered ASAP it would arrive just after 19:00 (I can't remember the exact time). Instead we want to eat a bit later so I put a delivery time of 19:30. We ordered on the restaurants own website, not any delivery intermediary. So we were really disappointed when the doorbell went 18:45 and our food was there but we weren't ready to eat. In terms of the starters, the dim sum was five out of five, and the salmon spring rolls were 4/5. But the noodle dish, although it tasted quite nice, with mostly needles and not enough other ingredients (we ordered the king prawn fishing, but the prawns were a bit mushy). And the chicken stirfry was nothing to write home about and certainly not very Thai. The whole thing had a flavour of Thai food being cooked by a Bangladeshi/Indian cook! Can't quite decide whether to give 2 or 3/5 overall but maybe they scraped through on the basis of the dim sum!
I'm giving this place three stars because even though the food was pretty good, the overall experience wasn't, especially with the delivery driver. It was my wife's birthday and we couldn't go out to eat because of the COVID situation, so we ordered takeaway Thai because she loves Thai food. The ordering process through Just Eat was fine but when the driver came to drop the food off, things went wrong. We live in a gated block, the driver buzzed the main gate and I let him up. When he got to the door of the flat he just dumped the food on the doorstep - fair enough given the virus situation - but he just walked off without a word, no courteous "enjoy your meal" or "have a good evening", nothing. I thought at the time maybe he was in a bit of a bad mood. I didn't have time to give him the gate exit code because I didn't have shoes on to go outside and he'd already gone. A few drivers are regulars and already know the gate code, so I figured he already knew it. After a few minutes I got a phone call, it was the driver. He said he needed to get out. I told him he should have waited but he just walked off to which he shouted, "you didn't give me the ****ing gate code". I immediately hung up. This development has six blocks who all share the same gate, it's normally not more than 2-3 minutes before someone comes in/out. Many a time I've gone down to let a driver out to find they've already left. The driver called me again but I didn't answer: I didn't want to be sworn at again or for my wife's birthday to be ruined by an argument. I assume he got out fine since that was the last I heard about it. I complained to the restaurant who were apologetic. A few mins later I got a call, I think from the manager, who said they would do an investigation, but I haven't heard anything since. I told the manager that I had had very stressful jobs in the past but I had never spoken to anyone like that. The restaurant confirmed that the driver was employed by them rather than sub-contracted through Deliveroo or someone else. The food was pretty good but the overall experience wasn't. I probably wouldn't order from them again, considering there are many other Thai delivery places. This is a shame since this one driver's actions have lost any future business from me and created this review, which would have been more positive otherwise.
Why the quality of the food has changed? I have been ordering from Hungry Buddha for few years now but 2 days ago I received a meal that was nothing close to old standards. Also the menu looks different. Quite curious to understand what happened:(
Curry was nice, food arrived on time.. But the sticky rice was extremely dry and chewy. I love sticky rice but this was so dry and stodgy it was not pleasant, it ruined the meal for me
Starter we're cold, dumplin were not nice at all a bit tasteless not sure if its because it was cold. Massman curry was too sweet unfortunately
I ordered through Uber, did arrived on time. I ordered Tom yum soup, but it tasted like tomato soup. I'm very disappointed, I was exciting something good, specially after recently coming back from Thailand, but I'm very disappointed with this soup. It didn't taste fresh either. Wouldn't recommend it. I hope I won't get food poisoning
The veg and tofu pad Thai had one single piece of tofu in it. Portion size is so much smaller than I used to get. Not worth it, get your pad Thai elsewhere.
We got us an Uber eats from here and it was hands down the worst I've eaten. Felt like cheap readymade sauces and frozen vegetables delivering strange flavours that tasted nothing like Thai food, with zero fragrance, zero balance, gave us all upset stomachs and we love spicy food.
The worst food this was not Chinese special fried rice has raw shrimps also ordered and payed for salt and pepper chips for nearly a fiver and got plain normal chips on a soggy bag and rhe driver had the cheek to steal my 11p wouldnt of minded if my food had been half what decent and prepared correctly I want a refund tomorrow seen as I have ignored My call thanks
DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS RESTAURANT!! We waited 1+ hour and then food never arrived, from Just Eat. Absolute Scam!! No refund and impossible to contact the restaurant! Avoid!!
We ordered food here and picked it up ourselves, the place was really hard to find to the level I thought the whole place doesn't exist. The food was way too spicey and not fresh at all.
Left hungry. Thanks. Order never rec'd via uber eats. Phoned restaurant, zero satisfaction & told to contact uber. Avoid.
I ordered some food for delivery this evening, the Singapore is noodles is beyond the spice level, it was so spicy to a point where I had severe acid reflux for next two days and couldnt eat much, they havent mentioned it anywhere in the menu thats its spicy and my spice level is quiet high , when i called them to inform this , the guy on the phone simply said oh Singapore is always very spicy and we are sorry that we didnt mention its spicy or any red chilli sign to let the customer know !! thats all,
THE WORST MEAL I'VE EATEN My partner and I were super excited for the delivery from this place, we were deeply disappointed when it arrived!! I had ordered a tom kha which arrived as a slightly flavoured can of coconut cream with canned mushrooms in it. My "drunken noodles" were just old noodles reheated. They were hard on the outside and had obviously been sitting around for a while. Then we get to the stir fry... The description read: chicken with peppers, onions, chilli and sweet basil.... What actually arrives was a tub of brown soya based liquid with a few pices of broccoli and carrots swimming heartlessly through it. No chicken, no substance and completely worthless!! After receiving this disaster of a meal I rang the restaurant and all I wanted was for them to send me the right dish for the stir fry. The person on the phone couldn't have cared less. He stated that he wouldn't do anything as he'd packed the bag himself. He said that they wouldn't want to pay a driver to bring us the right order as they had to go home soon. The cherry on the top is that they even forgot the chopsticks (which were requested on the order). The incompetence and bad customer service makes this a place to avoid at all cost. Not worth your hard earned money!
Ordered through Uber eats. Recieved a very small portion and also had gastroenteritis next day had to calling sick ans go to AE
We ordered from them last Feb. They were an hour late of when they say they'll arrive. I had to call them few times and all they did was say that it already left. When it arrived, the food was acceptable but they did not include the prawn cracker we ordered and paid for. No appology from the guy who delivered as well. Super disappointed
Ordered food for 6 people through UberEats. Exactly around delivery time, UberEats called me and said that the "driver had an issue and he cannot deliver". Since this is UberEats, I asked for another driver to deliver the food. They said they cannot find another driver (delivery guy) now or later. I called the "restaurant" directly and they asked me if I can pick up the food myself since food is ready. I arrived at the address of Hungry Buddha (as shown in Google) and I couldn't find the restaurant. There is one apartment building at that address, a warehouse and a mosque! Where is the restaurant? There is no physical restaurant! I called the restaurant number and one guy came out of the building and handed me the food. A big question is whether it can be called a restaurant at all if one operates from the kitchen of his apartment. The UberEats delivery guy later called me and apologized and said that he got mugged inside that building before and thats why he won't go inside that building again. THIS IS SCAM! Big question is does Uber Eats ever verify where the food is coming from or if it is a restaurant or not. Hungry Buddha has a website that says "dine-in", take away and delivery.
We made an order for the starter platter for two and chicken penang curry. The platter for 2 was completely inedible: The prawn tempura was soggy and undercooked and the other items were nothing short of disgusting. The peanut satay dip was a gelatinous mess. The chicken penang main was also quite disappointing: the chicken was tough, dry and overcooked. It most certainly was not chicken breast that's for sure. I would avoid this place at all costs, I cannot understand how it has such a high rating.
Don’t order takeaway from here if you are vegetarian. Twice now they have put meat/fish into my order. The first time they sent out a new order when I called, but the second time their phone line was dead so I could do nothing about it. Really disappointing
(To contexualise the below review, i would like to say that i have never felt the need to complain about food/service from a restaurant in my 27 year existence) The food from the 'Hungry Buddha' was quite possibly the worst restaurant/takeaway experience of my life! Unfortunately, I decided to order a variety of seafood -starter consisting of fish cakes and calamari and a main of seafood pad thai-the former had the appearance of a soaked sponge that had been left under a hot lamp for 3 days, and the latter contained seafood that looked like it had come out of a can and shipped from a remote overseas location although that description may be too complimentary. Needless to say I didn't eat it all although unfortunately the damage had already had been done. The food lead to serious consequences and resulted in me contracting food poisoning. I subsequently managed to injure my knee as a result of the violent sickness/delerium which may require surgery. Subsequently I was admitted to hospital where I was prescribed anti nausea medication/and had to be re-hydrated intravenously. Needless to say I didn't eat it all although unfortunately the damage had already had been done. I have since found numerous reviews which have questioned the legitimacy of this restaurant (if indeed it is a bona-fide restaurant), and hygiene practices which I would suggest are entirely credible. I would implore food hygiene to urgently review this restaurants food/preparation standards to prevent this happening to anyone else. My advice would be to avoid this place like the plague!
Order showed up late missing half the items including rice. Rang to let them know. Guy who answered was rude, blunt, uninterested and said they would send some more but would take over 30 mins.
got sick and nauseas almost instantly after eating it. we even only got vegetarian dishes but still the food must have been prepared poorly. would definitely avoid
After ordering food from here the first time, the food took so long to arrive. Hungry Budhha messaged to say that it was on its way and 40 minutes later nothing had arrived. We tried to call them and they do not answer their phone. This is a fake company I think. Maybe taking money online and then leaving you without food.
When calling regarding an issue with my delivery, as half the order was not sent, the manger on the phone was extremely rude and unable to compensate for their mistake. I have been eating at Hungry Buddah for a while and shall not returning. Very disappointed with the customer service.
Just had thai red curry delivered. Utter rubbish. Never eaten such bland tasteless drivel. Phoned and complained and was instantly refunded, to be fair - but still disappointed.
This is not a restaurant. My partner and I live nearby and found this on google maps of local asian restaurants. We walked up and down street. Nothing at the address but office building. Read reviews. Seems only a delivery/pop up kitchen
