Every time we come into town we make it a point to stop. Love the owners and the food! It's also very comfortable and laid back.
Been when I was younger went recently and amazing breakfast and Shannon was amazing had a crazy child that day lol and she just made my day better thank you for the awesome food and service
Great food and friendly staff! We usually oder to-go from work - orders are always ready when we go pick up.
Great food. Nice atmosphere. There is no smoking inside the restaurant at all.I should know because the restaurant is right across the street from me. Smoking is allowed outside the and away from the entrance.
Food was good, service was excellent, will be going back.
Great food and awesome waitress. Will definitely be back on our next trip through there.
Great food, excellent service, they even have a all you can eat lunch buffet Monday thru Friday.
Great home cooking. Affordable prices. Lunch buffet every day and best breakfast ever. Friendly employees and clean environment
Great small town place. Good prices.
There isn't anything to add go eat
Best breakfast around. Always
The food was great, the tea not so great but drinkable. If I am ever back in this city I will definitely be back for more food!
Staff is friendly and very fast to get food to you. Food came out hot and actually had to wait to let it cool off to eat it. Food was fantastic and had big portions.
This place is amazing! I've been at least a dozen times n every single thing I've ordered had been great. Chicken fried steak n chicken strips are our favorites!
The food was wonderful and it is definitely a family friendly place. Even though I was changed my order after it was placed, I still got service with a smile. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food as well as great customer service. I'd highly recommend eating here. I love getting the fish plate as well as any of the salads.
Food cooked just the way we like it service was fast and friendly 😊
Nice friendly people and good ol country cooking. Great attitude & atmosphere. Must stop if in area. I did 5 yrs ago and couldn't wait to stop again. Did I mention good ddesert too. Thank youall for a good relaxing meal. Go see Arnold..😂😀😀😀😀😀
Ordered 3 piece fried fish off menu. It was delicious and came with all the trimmings. Service was awesome. Lots of food for the price.
I ate here in 2011 and the food was great! Small, warm, cozy, and family friendly. You might see a couple people here that have been in local news papers!
Wonderful local restaurant. Have gone several times since my first visit, and I will continue to eat at Arnold's
I visit Arnold’s once a week. The food is good and the service is great.
Very pleased with our meal here! The food was good and our waitress was very nice. Would definitely come back.
This place is a gem. Service was great! Food was amazing! I highly recommend you give this place a try!
We really enjoy Arnold's. Their grilled chicken plate is tender and delicious, the salad is fresh and crisp and the last time we visited they had a grilled salmon on rice plate which was great. The service is friendly and the dining room uncrowded. If you are in the neighborhood stop in for a meal - you will be glad you did.
I split the mushroom swiss with fried onions hamburger. It was delicious. The restaurant looks questionable from the outside but once inside, it is a treat for the taste buds. The server did a great job too! I highly recommend Arnold's Family Restaurant.
This is a great place. My husband and I stopped for dinner last night and came back this morning for breakfast. Food is delicious, tastes like old fashioned REAL food, prices are very fair. Both meals were around $15 each. Staff was very friendly. If you are in or driving thru Lone Star, TX stop here.
Great little place that has lunch buffets Monday -Friday. Especially on Fridays. Friday is all you can eat catfish with all the trimmings AND the fish is baked or fried! Yum Yum! They have other items on a menu if the buffet isn't to your liking. And they start early in the morning with breakfasts (awesome light pancakes & waffles) and end the night with dinners. Definitely a good place to eat at.
Very friendly place. Food is awesome. A great family restaurant. A place you need to go and try.
First time eating here and it definitely didn't disappoint. I had the meatlovers omelet and it was awsome. The home-made salsa was delicious.
It's difficult to find a good breakfast restaurant, especially on the road in East Texas! But this was awesome! The food was great and well worth the price, and the service was courteous and on point. I will be sharing my experience with my traveling friends...
Amazing homecooked food! The chicken fried steak and eggs with hash browns and a bisquit with gravy is a breakfast for champions! The lady who waited on us was awesome! I drive from gilmer to lone star just to eat here.
This restaurant was so good we ate their twice on visit! Strongly recommend! Everything we tried including the oatmeal (yes I said oatmeal lol) was great!
Food was great! Service was great! So nice to see pics of my dad, Bill Tyson, under the glass table tops from 15+ years ago! Nice walk down memory lane.
Hadn't been in years. The chicken strips were delicious. My daughter got the nachos which were also amazing.
Excellent food and service, especially too for a group of about 20 hungry men. I look forward to stopping at Arnold's for a good wholesome, inexpensive meal with very friendly staff! Great ladies!
Went for breakfast at lunch...chicken fried steak was amazing, over easy eggs were perfect, toast and hash browns cooked just right.....big portions and great service for only $10.
Despite it's unassuming appearance, Arnold's is a wonderful little restaurant. The food isn't prefab heat-n-eat, as is often found in more common establishments and chain restaurants. Coupled with the reasonable pricing, and friendly staff, Arnold's proved one of the most pleasant dining experiences I've had in quite some time.
Good cakes, good ham hash browns and eggs.
This is a home town place with great food. If you’re in a hurry it’s not the place for you. There is only one waitress & it’s a fairly large place & the food is cooked when you order it. The only exception I’m aware of is fish Fridays when it is cooked ahead of time. Then if you want fresh be there hungry between 11 am to 12 noon. It’s GOOD!
Great food, great service!
OMG didn't get to take a picture of the delicious food it was that good will definitely be ordering from them again ❤️
My wife ordered the shrimp salad. She liked it. It had grilled shrimp. I tried one. It was good and kind of buttery. I had the 4 piece fried catfish dinner. It was very good. I could not finish the french fries. I could have gotten by with the 3 piece and been completely satisfied. Overall it was a good experience eating at Arnold's.
Delicious, Southern comfort food for the whole family. Catfish, Burger, fries, and chicken sandwich were all hot and tasty. Nice portions and friendly staff.
The cashier and the guy that cooked the food was friendly. I felt so bad about coming in there at the last minute! Ordered the burger with the fries. Even before I opened my food, I could smell the fries and tell this was going to be great food! They didn't disappoint! A place like this deserves your money!
Very friendly atmosphere, clean and fast friendly service. Home town atmosphere with a home cooked menu that taste great. Gotta try the pecan cream cheese cake! Seating for single or a large family/group arrangements
Good food at a good price. Kind waitresses. Eggs and sausage were excellent.
Little country diner. Server was sweet. Food was good. Pancakes were delicious and huge. Breakfast hash was great.
The food was very good, but what impressed me the most was how diversified there menu was and everything I saw was prepared very well. I had catfish and my wife had Mexican food, both of which were very good, and the table next to us had breakfast food and hamburgers which all looked good. The chef must be very good to be able to adequately fill such a diverse menu.
I really enjoyed my meal at Arnold's. I got the country fried steak special and it was reasonably priced with nice portions. I was in a bit of a hurry, and the woman waiting on me took that into account as she took my order to the kitchen. The quality of the food was very good. Loved the mashed potatoes and the country fried steak. The space is not fancy, but it is comfortable, and the food is good. It feels like the type of hometown restaurant that keeps small towns rolling. I would eat here again If I pass back through the area.
The food was very hot and fresh. The Texas pancake was huge, and the food was delicious, fresh, and tasteful. The waitress was sweet and very attentive. She sid not leave my cup empty of coffee the entire meal. Seems to be a local favorite as there were regulars there talking, and some even brought their own coffee cups. Very homey atmosphere and will come back again soon.
Wonderful lunch! I was seated immediately and given a menu; I asked the waitress what was good & she said the chicken fried steaks were flying out the door, so I ordered that. No regrets! The food was fast, hot and delicious! The entire experience was a joy and I left there happy and full.
Always a great meal and large portion. Love the daily specials. The service is outstanding.
They are very friendly and have good service and food. In particular I personally like their chicken fried steak meals and buffet. Their catfish I enjoy and I never liked catfish until I ate theirs.
Most times it a friendly place. Well taken care of. Occasionally, we get a slow waitress and have to keep calling her over for refills, ketchup or the ticket. I would recommend Arnold's.
I live here & it's just the place to come and enjoy good food 🍻🍔🍤🍟🍳🍔🍪🍰So when ever your in EAST TEXAS STOP By Arnold's & get to no the Family & if you eat good you'll also SLEEP GOOD! And the nexts Morning,Get up & Have A good breakfast! Arnold's keep up the GOOD WORK! GOD BLESS U ALL!!..?😇😆😆
We had very good breakfast here today. Service was excellent. Varied menu for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Atmosphere was just ok. Nothing special there.
Great food and excellent service. Always has a positive atmosphere.
Small town cooking. These are the little gems of small towns in the USA. A couple of old couples sitting around shooting the breeze. Some hearty home style cooking. Yum. Sometimes I'm in lonestar for work. And this is where I go to eat. Plenty of choices on the menu and a buffet if that's your thing.
This is your typical small town diner. The staff knows most of the customers because the town is not very big. The food is good and the staff is friendly even if you're not from here.
A good place for a burger or breakfast.
Things are getting organized with new owners food is back to being awesome don't care for the loud TV if I wanted to watch a game id stay home
There lunch specials prices aren’t special 8.99 anymore. Nothing but the corn bread and rice is made there. Every thing else is open the can yes even the beef tips I believe. I will go back for the Hamburg’s. Real friendly people tho.
Food is good. Breakfast is the best.
Food was really good I recommend the chicken fried steak. They offer one piece which was big. For an extra dollar you get a second piece chicken fried steak more than plenty mashed potatoes and gravy very good.
Hash browns are crispy and delicious. Biscuits and gravy cover the whole plate.(I ate half already in the pic). Stop in for that breakfast that hits the spot!
Went to Arnold's because it was in Lone Star, Texas! What a name for a person who loves all things Texas ! Interesting items on the menu. We had swiss beef mushroom sandwich and swiss beef mushroom omelet. Interesting!!!
Family place. For most meals (breakfast) everything is separate. I got a ham and cheese omelet the last time we went. If I wanted biscuits or grits etc it would be extra. You only pay for what you want. Good coffee in non standard mugs (all the mugs are different). Nicely decorated for Christmas with a children's play area near the bathrooms.
Love this place for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Breakfast is awesome. Everything on the breakfast menu there is worth the money and it is great!!! Lunch is great ad well. The only thing about dinner i can say is the first chicken fried steak is amazing and the second one is always burnt but good.
Cozy country diner. Tasty brunch. The service was quick and attentive even though they were busy with friendly regulars and seemed short staffed. But efficient all the same. Would return!
Order at the counter and then seat down. Nothing special about this place. I ordered the orange juice but it was so sour I had to exchange for a tea which they did with no problem.
This is on of those old time places. You could actually see the hamburger patty in the burger, made your way with out the order done wrong. Service was great, didn't take long to get your food, just a nice place to go if you are sick of that to-go fast food stuff.
The service was wonderful and the food was not bad. It's a bit pricy for what you get, but over all, we enjoyed it.
Greeted as soon as we walked in. Not busy at all, only two other people. Nice young lady took care of us. No expectations upon arrival. Typical small town restaurant, good food. Nothing special. A bit over priced.
The menu has your East Texas staples and the food is decent. Unfortunately it seemed a little understaffed, with only one person doing both the cooking and the serving during breakfast. If they want to save labor costs like that maybe they should just have counter service. Also there doesn’t seem to be any heat in the building. It’s annoying having to eat with your overcoat on.
Arnold's family restaurant is one of the oldest restaurants in lone Star Texas then I can remember and I'm 46. I was not at Arnold's I was at the car wash next to it
Our first time comin to Arnold’s and they have a nice selection of breakfast foods. I got a waffle and was disappointed that the bottom half was fairly burnt. The parts I ate that weren’t burnt were also pretty flavorless, the syrup didn’t really help either. The bacon was good, I ordered it well done and was happy with it. The biscuit was also “well done” unfortunately on the bottom but I ate the top half with butter and jelly and it was good. Small family place but I wish I had asked or a new waffle. My husband had an egg plate and said it was good. I will say the prices on the menu are not accurate. 2 items we ordered ended up being cheaper on the bill than on the menu, and 1 item was more expensive than advertised. My husband did let them know the biscuit was half inedible and they didn’t charge us for it. Our waitress was friendly and attentive.
Prices are a bit steep and I ordered the Mexican plate for $9.09. It comes with a smothered burrito (which was delicious), 2 tacos (that were cold), chips & salsa, and a salad (they forgot to put in my sack). I also ordered a taco kids meal, which came with 1 taco and my total was over $17. Service was nice and friendly tho.
Usually good to okay food but you never know how your food will be cooked, especially breakfast. There is a definite need for training for a consistent product from the cooks.
The chili was nice, but the crackers were stale the fried pickles for the bomb, the drinks are always messy nasty
Service is iffy. Depends on who you get. We used to love this place, but lately not so much. The last time we went, the pancakes were literally crumbly. The biscuits were the same. The shells for tacos and taco salads are so thick and so hard that it makes them hard to eat. I wish they would fix this especially the pancakes. Won't be back anytime soon.☹
Very rude staff on their phone whole time never checked on us once..$27.00 for breakfast and eggs were cold and biscuits were very hard!! Feel gross
11.50 for a chicken sandwich, with the smallest chicken breast you've ever seen. Then they charge you an extra 3 dollars for half decent fries
I stopped by a week before Christmas. It took an hour to get 4 chicken strips, which tasted like old grease. I also received a small salad that came with a small portion of ranch dressing. The fried okra was good though. I just could not understand why it took so long to give me my food. The waitress was very nice.
My wife is ignored. She has not once gotten a refill on her drink. And to top it off, a salad with more carrots than anything else. Bad service, bad food.
Called in an order was told wait time was 15 min I didn't arrive until 20 min later my food was just being put on after I left the drive thru from waiting and went inside. Waitress told me let her get the car at the drive thru then said it was the kitchens fault my food was just being put on.. No toast with my breakfast order that I ordered asked for gravy on the side with my child's order no gravy, no jelly silverware or napkins... It's hit or miss I'm afraid.
I don't know what's happened to Arnolds, but I stopped in there yesterday (08/14/2017)morning for breakfast, and was just NOT pleased. It took 45 minutes to get my breakfast, and when I got it, I found it to be BLAND...plumb nasty. I use to enjoy going to Arnolds...use to be great food, and great service. Fire the cook, and get some waitresses that will work instead of standing around talking.
PEOPLE WORKING NICE, BUT FOOD SUCKED FOR THE PRICE & CHICKEN FRIED STEAK SO TOUGH LIKE CHEWING ON A BOOT! ONLY THING GOOD TO REPORT WAS FOOD WAS WARM! DANG SURE WON'T BE BACK & THAT'S A FACT!
Its never the same. One day the fries are cold. The next day they are undercooked. Same with the burgers. Most times they are dry. I finally gave up. I don't eat there anymore.
Smutty smell.. they redecorate but the parking lot is spooky like a juke joint no landscaping.. bathrooms yuk
If there was an option to give this place less than one star I would,I wanted 57Min for a rather small breakfast order. When my food arrived half the order was stone brick cold and the other had been sitting under a heat lamp half that time.. The couple sitting next to me had also been waiting over 30M, for a single pancake and peice of ham.. I will never eat here again, the decline and deterioration of this once nice establishment has genuinely lost a loyal customers..Arnold's use to be a quality place but their service has gone out the window. New management will get this place to close in the 6months if things don't change.
The catfish dinner was a huge disappointment. The fries were soaked with oil and very hard. Most of them were inedible. The catfish fillets were so small and thin that there was very little actual fish in them. It was mostly cornmeal breading. The cole slaw was served as a condiment. It was in a tiny little plastic cup the same amount as the ketchup and tartar sauce. The photos they show online are of nice sized thick fillets and a bowl of slaw. The tartar sauce tasted like salad dressing. The hush puppies were ok but they were small and only 2 in a meal. I had to pay an inflated price for extra hush puppies. I gave it one star because I can't post this review without a star. If I could give it less than one star, I would. Worst catfish dinner I have ever had in my life and I have had a lot of them in my 65 years. My wife and son also hated this food and asked that I never get food from this establishment again.
Went in to have breakfast. Waited 5 to 10 mins and still hadn't got a drink. Horrible server. I've been a server and that's not how you do things. So they must not want my business and therefore gets my bad review. Do not recommend unless you want to wait 30 mins just to get a drink.
Used to be a great place. But no longer. We no longer eat there.
Food is to high and not enough food for the price
We ordered hush puppies and We ordered a catfish meal as well. We got very very little tarter sauce less than 1/2 oz. very little relish and normal sized coleslaw. The tarter sauce tasted sour. And the hush puppies were burnt and tasted like they used very old grease. Nasty. This used to be our go to place for catfish, hush puppies and, their banana split. We are very disappointed. The last 6 times we have gone, it’s the same. We will not be going again.
