Opinions de Ay Papa Que Rico Los Angeles
We tried Ay Papa Qué Rico and honestly, it was really good. We ordered the whole charcoal-grilled chicken, congri, yuca, a salad, and a jugo de maracuyá. Everything was flavorful and satisfying. The charbroiled chicken is definitely the star — juicy, well-seasoned, and cooked perfectly over charcoal. The congri and yuca were solid comfort sides, and the passion fruit juice was refreshing and not overly sweet. For about $65, two of us ate well and still had leftovers to take home — easily enough food for three people. The vibe is casual and relaxed. It feels like a neighborhood comfort spot with a mix of Cuban, Salvadorian, Guatemalan, and Mexican influences. It’s centered around the charbroiled chicken, but you can tell there’s a little bit of everything on the menu. If I had to describe it, I’d say it’s comfort food — the kind of place you go when you’re hungry and want something satisfying. It’s definitely an upgrade from places like Pollo Loco. I’d go back.
Had a cubano and plantains, both were delicious. The chicken burrito looked great as well. Portions generous.
Oye voz chico/a/x, just come enjoy that juicy Cuban chicken. Probably the best cuban chicken this far from called 8
Ay Papa Que Rico is a fantastic Cuban inspired charbroiled chicken restaurant. Had a craving for Cuban food after a recent rewatch of the movie, Chef. Stopped here for the first time and had to try the chicken based on the delicious smell as well as a Cubano. Both were mouthwatering. The chicken was perfect and the black beans and yellow rice I got with it were great. The Cubano was near perfection. I look forward to coming back and trying more of the menu

Just passing by this place and you just know that the grilled food here is on point. I had the 1/2 chicken plate that came with yellow rice, beans ( pinto or black ) grilled onions and a big green pepper charred. I got a side of plaintains. Perfecto! The two day marinaded chicken grilled to juicy perfection. I chased it down with a bottle of Coke and I was good to go.
Cuban cuisine, little hidden gem of the valley. Can't get enough of the grilled chicken, flavor all the way through. I've tried many dishes with out any dissapointment like the ropa vieja dish. Fresh made natural juice bar, amazing tropical fruit juices. Ice cream. They do a variety of South American dishes but also specialize in cuban cuisine. Amazing service, the gentleman that always helps me is a pleasure and such a sweet man and super attentive. This was for the van nuys location
Know for their chicken but I eat mostly veggies right now. The veggie wrap with spanish rice was okay. Definitely could be better but overall service was amazing and their pastries & ice cream looked incredible. Next time will try that. My friend had the chicken plate and loved it. They have a lot of sitting space and great art.
I have been going to this place for years. This Van Nuts location has always offered me a Great service and I even know the owner. They recently moved to a few stores up and I had the most uncomfortable situation , the place has fairly changed but still most of the employees offer good customer service. I'm posting this because I'm sure this will happen again with someone else and there's nothing worse than paying money to receive terrible customer service and client care. A worker named Mari is was the rudest person I have ever ordered from while. She's stalky not very good at English and has an ugly attitude. I was talking to another person who worked there she kept rushing me to order when I wasn't even in line yet she kept rushing me to order. She has an ordinary repulsive vibe towards specific clients or at least is what I felt from her. Then she. I was trying to ask her about the menu she walked away again I tried to ignore it and not make it part of my day but then I ask her hey how much are the ribs and how longe they take to cook. And she savagely answered me 25 minutes because hello is meat. I was like whats wrong with this service "!?well I go and ask another person who works there and even the cook himself and they both say about 10 minutes. At this point I reacted and confronted her like hey you have an ugly way to treat customers Id like to speak to the owner of you. And she answers me with I treat people as I like to be treated. Well I don't know how long she's been in this Country but the customer is always right more so when in camera you could see her intentional disrespect towards me even ignoring me while I tried to speak to her. I just honestly wanted to take the leave the food and take my money back. I've never been treated this way anywhere else. She told me go ahead call him and even hanged me the phone like challenging me. I am American Citizen born and raised and this type of tolerance shouldn't be allowed in ones space at all. Anyways while everyone else stood quiet and tried to remain nice and polite to me I go to get a sida and while I'm trying to pay for it she tried charging me she said is exactly $4.00 which is exactly what I handed out. A little to expensive for a can if soda intough rapidly another kind co- worker approached me and said to me No love is only $2.50. This lady has no idea what a lawsuit that is for doing this tona custumer overcharging on her own demand. I had enough of this person so I walk outside to wait for my ride and got my belief this disgusting woman goes behindvnevabdcoretebds to have a conversation with the cook outside trying to show herself to me after I told her I would speak to the owner sooner or later. I made the decision not to ever come back there and encourage whoever I can to be aware of the treatment there. It was a horrible experience this time around for me and this new worker. Afrer 15 years I have decided to exclude any service here until she's not longer working there. She deserves a good lesson in life one day and soon I hope she gets it. The other workers there were Great. But that MARI or MARIA is a bad apple infesting the best. Blessings to everyone 🙏
I've been coming to this place on and off for years, and their food has been okay. Just okay to be honest. Their meat is a little dry, whether you're getting the pork or the beef I haven't tried their chicken yet so I can't speak on that just yet. I stopped coming to this place for a few years because they burn to the beef ribs so bad it was literally charcoal. But the main reason I'm writing this review today is because their customer service was pretty bad. This lady at the cashier was incredibly rude to me when I pointed out to her that I wrote on a note that I just wanted white rice for my size that I did not want the beans or the yellow rice. And she literally rolled her eyes at me and muttered under her breath, "Oh my God". I was appalled and I was getting ready to yell at her about it but I decided to let it go. She even had the audacity to say I should have put notes and I pointed out the notes that were right on my phone and in all capital letters. She was clearly trying to make it sound like it was my fault when in reality she or somebody over there decided to just blatantly ignore the notes. So if you have notes on your order just be aware that they're most likely going to blatantly ignore them and blame you for that. So overall the food was just okay, it was a little tough and dry. I got the pork ribs today. I decided to go buy a bottle of barbecue sauce because I put in my NOTES to give me an extra little cup of barbecue sauce and I even wanted barbecue sauce on the meat and the meat was somehow super dry. So I guess they even ignored that part too. Bottom line, take caution with ordering from here as their customer service seems to suck. Oh and I forgot to mention that they moved the location a little further down the street and they still have not updated that on their Google page or anywhere else. There was even an item on the menu that I wanted and they said that they don't have it anymore and I told them they need to update it. So they seem to be a little disorganized too.
