Opinions de Coni'Seafood Los Angeles
MÉXICO (Nayarit) 🇲🇽 Eat the World LA review: There is a lot to unearth about the history of Coni'Seafood and Mariscos Chente, two of West Los Angeles' most beloved Nayarit-style seafood restaurants. The history can all be traced back to 1987 and the Inglewood backyard of Vicente "Chente" Cossio. Multiple locations, swaps, different chefs here and there, etc. It is all out there on the internet to read, or maybe a good conversation in person if you want to chat with the three generations of family involved yourself, but for now I will just focus on and be in awe of the food. As I wrote last year after stopping in directly after a flight to LAX, the Inglewood Avenue location of Mariscos Chente has a special place in my heart. They also kept another location, first painted white with murals of palm trees and marlins on the exterior, then a less fun blank orange, on South Centinela that I never made it to. In late 2017, the name was swapped and the color scheme changed to a sleek grey-blue to match the first location of Coni'Seafood on Imperial Highway in Inglewood (which was the original Mariscos Chente back in the day). Sr. Cossio's daughter Connie was taking more of the reigns on the family empire. Prepare to board your direct flight to Acaponeta, a town in the north of Nayarit near Sinaloa known for its seafood and proximity to Playa Novillero, possibly one of the world's nicest places to sit in a thatched hut and eat while enjoying the sound of the ocean.
Very good food. Had the marlin tacos and they were the best I’ve had so far. Will definitely be back to try other food
The seafood at this particular location is always of the highest quality. I’ve never been disappointed. The staff is always on top of everything as well. They’re courteous, professional, friendly and above all, always hussling. I usually come on the weekends between lunch and dinner hours and they’re always running around, cleaning, and checking on you.
our first time here today and it didnt disappoint. my husband is a shrimp-lover, so this place was heaven for him. we had the culichis, borrachos, tostaditos and fish tacos. i liked the tostaditos the most - perfect combination of octopus, shrimp and sea snail ceviche! the servers are very friendly and accommodating. my husband couldnt decide between dishes and they gave us the other dish he didnt not order for us to try. that was a nice surprise and a great touch!
This is my absolute favorite neighborhood restaurant! Beware, green sauce is very spicy haha. My order is ceviche marinero and camarenos borrachos. Awesome service, amazing food! Always feeel great after eating here :)
This place was a definite surprise. The Instagram account and pictures of the food do not do it justice. The food here is AMAZING! Incredibly fresh and flavourful food. I had the Camarones Ahogados Rojos, Ceviche Marinero, and Cevisushi. All 3 plates are a good sized portion and above all else delicious!!! I highly recommend this spot to anyone wanting some great ceviche.
Food was absolutely amazing. And the service was phenomenal!
We come here at least once a month. My usual go to is the mojarra frita, the seafood soup, the oysters and one of the shrimp dishes. I really like the tostalitos with shrimp and octopus ceviche but that dish along with the other ceviche dishes including the new sashimi dish all have too much salt. Recommend ordering a side order of rice with any ceviche order to counter the salt.
The food was SO GOOD. You would never expect this place is a Michelin restaurant from looking at the outside. We loved the aguachiles, ceviche, empanadas and seabass. Didn’t dislike anything we tried. Strongly recommend
Wow! The snook is out of this world delicious! It’s served with carmelized onions — succulent fish, sweet and earthy onions; this dish hits it out of the ball park. The cerviche pescado was fresh and tasty! Service was delightful. Great value. Excellent experience all the way around. A new favorite 🤗
After a great workout at the Culver City Stairs, I was seriously craving ceviche — and found Coni’Seafood on Google Maps. Let me tell you, this spot is a gem. I ordered the Aguachiles, Ceviche Marinero, and an agua de pepino — and after that hike, it hit just right. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and super satisfying. Now let’s talk about the salsa they bring out — super spicy, but so good. Our mouths were on fire, but we kept eating it. 😂 It really took everything to the next level. The Aguachiles were packed with flavor — bold, citrusy, spicy — exactly how they should be. The Ceviche Marinero was super refreshing and perfectly balanced. We tried ordering a michelada, but the server let us know they don’t serve liquor. Instead, he suggested a michelada with mineral water... and let me tell YOU — we were skeptical, but it was shockingly good. Like, “how is this this good without beer?” good. This place exceeded our expectations. Nos encantó — great service, amazing food, and the perfect post-hike reward. If you love mariscos and can handle some heat, you need to check out Coni’Seafood.
It's rare for me to say this.... I NEED to come back and try everything on the menu. Amazing food quality and taste. This is your go-to place for fresh ceviche/seafood
Wow. This is some of the best seafood I’ve had EVER. And let me tell you - I love food. Everything was fresh, delicious, and nothing I’d ever tasted before. I’ve had ceviche in Costa Rica, Mexico and Peru, but this ceviche wasn’t in a style I’d had before. The shrimps were grilled with a rub that I I couldn’t stop licking off my fingers. The langostinos (not pictured) were baked in a sauce I was using like a curry (I’m Indian, after all). The marlin tacos tasted like shredded beef! The grilled snook, though it had bones, was well worth the effort. Literally everything was delicious and I can’t wait to go back.
Wow! My mom was craving mariscos for her birthday lunch and I’m so glad I came upon Coni’s. Incredible mariscos, nothing like I have ever had and I have gone to many mariscos places. Can’t wait to be back!
This restaurant single-handedly made me contemplate moving to LA. Like look at this are you kidding. I could eat here every day. Enough said.
We had a wonderful time with family and friends at Coni’Seafood. They were very accommodating of young children. We spoke with the owner, Tony, and he was charming, kind, and friendly through and through. We also loved the music and overall vibes. We enjoyed every dish at the restaurant, especially the pescado zarandeado (whole grilled fish), chicharrones de pescado (fried fish), and the pimienta con pulpo (shrimp and octopus stew). Big thanks to Tony for the great recs. I highly recommend checking this place out.
A hot day much have, Coni’s has turning into one of our most favorite places to eat. The have indoor and outdoor seating and service is quick. The food is SO fresh and excellent every time. Fair warning though this place packs a punch so if spice is not your thing, make sure to ask for half heat. The ceviche marinero is our favorite. Highly recommend tryin this awesome hidden gem.
Snook is out of this world! Marlin tacos right there as well. The location might not be conveniently located, but it’s a MUST to visit! This restaurant is one of the best kept secrets of the city.
Great food and friendly staff. We ordered some tacos, the sea bass, shrimp, and ceviche, and all of them were super delicious.
I had a delight! The food was good, the service was good and I really enjoyed everything. We got the Camarones Borrachos, which was really good. Also the ceviche that was the new special which is red spicy, really good. I enjoyed the tacos de pescado, but next time, I can do without it. Got cucumber lemonade. My partner was questioning it, but I happily finished the drink! I would really recommend the Camarones Borrachos and the spicy ceviche. We'll be back soon!!!
I found Coni's after a quick Google search for seafood and reading reviews. The restaurant was clean inside and the host had a welcoming demeanor. I order the Ceviche Tostadas appetizer, Sea Bass dinner entrée. The ceviche was so fresh and the portion size was enough for 2-3 people, their spicy aioli/sauce that was on them were really good. The entree was one of the better meals I had in LA during my two month work trip. I don't know what spices were used but they did a really good job, and the texture of the fish was spot on, crispy bottom but flaky top. I definitely recommend checking out Coni's for your seafood fix.
Since we ate in the dining room, we ordered for a pick-up. Quick, efficient, cordial phone service started this experience. The phone number on the app map is wrong for the Centinela location, and this was instantly taken care of by the representative saying she would transfer the order. It was ready in 12 minutes for pick-up. Lucky for us, it was just before the LA curfew went into effect. The fish is crunch,y tasty and so was the entire bag of chips! The fish comes with light, fluffy rice. The salsa for the chips was runny and spiky hot and we wound up tossing it. We maintain our previous review of FISH ONLY but EXCELLENT!!!. And we revise the "Unbelievable slow service" - two slowish servers take care of the entire room.
Favorite Mexican seafood in LA. Aguachile, sea bass tacos and camarones borrachos were all outstanding and reasonably priced

We were just passing through the area and got really hungry, then spotted this place and decided to try it. So glad we did. The food was yummy with a Mexican-style twist. We ordered shrimp and ceviche and both were delicious. The girl who served us was amazing and super kind. She gave us drinks and a bag of chips to enjoy with the food for free. Definitely coming back! 🌮🦐✨

The food is delicious: grilled whole fish, shrimp ceviche, and camarones la diabla were all solid. Service was good, some items can take a while to prepare but they let us know in advance. Overall, a satisfying lunch experience, and would visit again.
We had the mini ceviche tostada's, shrimp diablo and shrimp with chipotle sauce. All solid choices. Watch out for the green salsa that comes with the chips. Super spicy! We were surprised that they would not let us bring our wine group. Might not seem odd but they don't sell wine so turning down business was not expected.
Fresh, no frill seafood place made Mexican Nayarit-style! Never had seafood done quite like this before and really enjoyed it. Bright flavors with solid spices used in many of the dishes. The service was helpful and guided us. We heard about the Snook and was great for sharing. A hearty fish with tortillas and came with caramelized onions and fresh cucumbers and onions. A different combo that works! Also, got the Black Shrimp Ceviche and Tequila Shrimp. Really liked both too!

It was our very first time, as my cousins stated she saw in the morning, via a chief. We came, ordered, and the food presentation was terrific. As soon as we ate the food, we found it delicious and rich in flavor. The sea bass was incredibly delicious! We ordered an order of each and were very pleased with the food. Unfortunately, the only thing I have to say is that the servers were extremely slow. I had requested silverware after they brought the food, but we had no utensils for over ten minutes. Our drinks arrived at our table until we finished our dinner. We ordered dessert, and it took 20 minutes to arrive. Aside from the service, the food was worth the wait. The owner should maybe monitor the services. The kitchen is solid!!!!
You’re not coming to Coni’s on Centinela for the atmosphere (super harsh lighting). And the service, while friendly, isn’t really anything to write home about. But the food is outstanding! Came with a friend and a huge appetite so we ordered way too much food and loved practically everything we had. I’d never tried Nayarit-style Mexican food and lemme tell ya - I’m all in. The chips are fantastic and the verde hot sauce that accompanies is delicious and spicy. Started with Ceviche de Pescado which was super flavorful, but was the only minor disappointment as the fish to cucumber-tomato-onion-chile ratio could have used more fish. Still, it tasted really good, so not really a big deal. Was also initially disappointed that the Snook wasn’t available, but was super happy with the Camarones Borrachos and the Langostinos that we ended up having. Both of these dishes come with their own unique sauce - the shrimp with a super tasty tequila garlic sauce and the lobster with their signature spicy red sauce. But wait folks, there’s more! Also tried all three of their tacos: Tacos de Pescado Empanizado, Tacos de Marlin, and Tacos al Gobernador. All three were good, but the standout for me was the shrimp tacos! The marlin taco was a close second for me. Like I said, we brought our appetites :) I’m definitely coming back to Coni’s to try the snook but next time I plan to check out the Inglewood location since there’s no alcohol service at Centinela. I think a beer is the right choice to accompany this style of food. In any case, I highly recommend the food at Coni’s!
This was formerly a M- star restaurant and it is no suprise why based on the food. The ambiance isn't anything to write home about and some of the seat cushions were ripped up. The server's explained the food really well and food came fast. Would definitely recommend this for a seafood lover and for someone who enjoys spicy food. I had a few dishes that I had never heard of like a drink made with condensed milk, coconut water and something else...it was good. The green sauce they serve with the chips is VERY spicy. Would definitely go again and try some different things.

The service was the worst part of this place. Had to wait forever to order drinks. Had to wait forever to order food. Had to wait forever to get the food. Had to wait forever to pay and leave. Also, they cook with a lot of grease. Even the rice was swimming in oil.
The Centinela location has gone to trash. It’s a bit disrespectful to the OG CONNIE’S in Inglewood. I’ve been coming here for years and it’s just very sad now. The need to fire woman that has been at the front of house. She is always on her personal phone, does not pay attention to detail and lack basic costumer service. The portions are okay but the ratio of the SEAFOOD is minuscule compared to the rest of the dish. The food has not been consistent for quite some time now. I’m never coming back
Very very bad serving and stuff!!! I will never come back here to eat! That was so bad experience for m
Walked in no one welcome us and we never got a service we knocked on the door to kitchen still no help .
This place fell apart. I’ve been coming here for a couple years now. It’s constant warm drinks and “we don’t have ice”. What type of restaurant runs out of ice on multiple occasions. I had to ask if I can order our food. Every waiter whispers. This is my last visit. I’d go somewhere else.
