Wow ohhh WOW! We got the Pork Katsu Curry with mozzarella cheese and the Chicken Karaage Curry and ¡¡GOOD LAWD!! it was crazy tasty! Service was great and food flew out of the kitchen so fast we were pleasantly surprised...then went IN on that goodness = soothed the soul. Hurry and get da Curry!
Most slept on ramen shop in Sawtelle, dare I say LA! Really delicious and unique ramen. They specialize in curry ramen, which is a blend between ramen and Japanese curry. My wife and I keep talking about our meal here; I’d say it’s a good bet that we will be going regularly! Well worth a stop, especially while this place is still under the radar compared to the surrounding, far more crowded ramen shops.
I felt like getting anzu and decided to try a small keema rice bowl at their new place (menya tigre). I forgot how good anzu karaage chicken is and the keema curry rice bowl took it to a whole new level. The rice bowl was a great value for what I assume is supposed to be a side/appetizer at $5. I have high hopes for the ramen. Looking forward to coming back.
A combination of curry and ramen... Who could ask for more? The curry ramen that I ordered was super flavorful, not too spicy, just the right amount of curry. The one big piece of Cha siu was full of flavor too. They gave a good amount of noodles and soup. I felt like drinking most of the broth, but I would have been very dehydrated the rest of the night. The servers brought out our dishes pretty quickly. And they were very kind too. Would definitely come back again to try they other dishes!
The curry ramen does not disappoint. The broth was rich, savory, and exciting with dense noodles that perfectly suit the bowl. Portions overall are generous. Normally I would consider adding extra noodles to ramen, but not at this place. Even the slice of pork is easily twice as thick as other ramen bowls. For appetizers I would recommend the fried shrimp, as it's a clear standout.
This spot really blew me away. I wasn't super craving curry on a warm day, but wow, the flavors and textures were perfect. We ordered the chicken karaage curry rice as well as the Kyoto ramen. Wow, the ramen broth was heavenly -- especially impressive bc it was a chicken broth, not pork or beef! The chicken karaage was crispy on the outside and tender and flavorful on the inside. In both dishes, every ingredient was prepared well to complement the others. The service was really chill and friendly, which is always a plus for us when we have our toddler and dog in tow. We sat in the shaded outdoor dining area in the front. It was perfect for us. I want to go again tomorrow haha!
This place is awesome. I used to love Hurry Curry down the street and this is my new favorite Japanese curry spot. The cutlet was moist inside and crispy. The red ramen was also good. A little spicy. Nice iced green tea. 5 stars all around.
I love Japanese food, and have eaten a ton of it in my years. I had a craving for really good katsu curry. I went to another place a week before, and unfortunately still had that craving. Only the best would satisfy. So I came here. I’m completely satisfied! The curry was rich with enough spices to give the curry the complex depth of flavors I wanted without being overly hot. It was fantastic! This is now my go-to place for curry. The katsu (loin piece) was tender and juicy with a perfectly crispy panko crust. Was it the best katsu I’ve had? No, but it was very good and the right complement to the curry, and still worthy of the 5 stars. The service was perfect. There when you wanted it, and otherwise let you enjoy the meal. The Sawtelle area gives you a lot of choices when it comes to good Japanese food. If you want curry, you won’t find better than Menya Tigre!
The Baseline: For a ramen restaurant the noodles must be fresh, cooked with consistency in firmness, broth must be tasty with good body, accompaniment additions must match with the style, and the plating must work for the ramen presentation/function. Added to the baseline is for Karaage chicken that must be crispy, meaty, and flavorful. Food: The base bowl of ramen is very tasty and the noodles have good pull. The Karaage chicken is really delicious with a crispy breading and thick pieces of chicken. This is Karaage chicken by Anzu that recently merged into this restaurant. Service: The service was excellent and I picked up my Karaage chicken and fries. The staff brought bout me while I was waiting outside. Great service. Atmosphere: The seats are comfortable and the tables are well situated. The outdoor patio has heating lamp so you will be okay outside.
A cold and rainy day calls for comfort food in the form of curry ramen & katsu 😌🍜 This place is one of the non Tsujita affiliated restaurants in Sawtelle and it was actually rly good😋 @eatswithedith on IG 🍽️Ordered: 1. Chasu curry ramen 2. Keema noodle (dry noodles w/ curry, Pico de gallo, & corn) 3. Pork katsu curry 4. Chicken karaage 5. Shishito peppers 6. Side salad (complimentary) This meal was so satisfying because all the flavors went so well together. My favorites were the curry ramen & chicken karaage. The curry ramen’s broth wasn’t too heavy and it was soo smooth and creamy with the tender chasu 🤤 The karaage was soo juicy, it’s the best one I’ve had in a long time! Def a must order 👏🏻 Also, all the items I ordered didn’t feel too oily and heavy like some of the other ramen places I tried so extra points for that. 💰Price: ~$15/dish
I recently tried Kyoto Paitan Ramen last week and Curry Ramen this week at this spot. The Kyoto Paitan Ramen was good, but I was really impressed by the Curry Ramen. It wasn’t very spicy, but it was packed with flavor. I prefer thicker noodles, so I’d love to see that option next time. Overall, a great experience!
We'd never had Japanese fried chicken before and it was a treat! Juicy and flavorful! This shop is cozy and comfortable and in a cute little strip with lots of food offerings The prices were good for the area. Parking is a little challenging. We were able to find paid street parking just around the corner.
Casual place to dine in. Their Japanese curry rice is really good! It could be little spicy but flavorful. Also, the fried toppings are on point. They fry as you order which is fresh and juicy. It has full of young Japanese vibe and loved how they have open kitchen.
Delicious, good portion and full of flavor! Karage was nice and juicy (pretty standard), keema noodles were interesting with pico de gallo which I haven’t experienced in mazesoba but it worked. The meat sauce wasn’t the spicy kind which I liked and overall curry infused keema was just on point.
Cozy small place ~ inside 2 tables, a bar table with 8 chairs, and outside 6 tables. Curry was creamy not salty and spicy. Mixing in a crushed-boiled egg with ramen makes it even more delicious.
Curry ramen is excellent, but the fries are 6 dollars and this is all they give you and that’s highway robbery. Edit: changing my review because the chashu is so good. extremely thick sliced but tender so it falls apart in your mouth, perfectly smoky.
The curry ramen was delicious. I ordered mine with the extra pork and extra noodles. Yes, this entire street has plenty of ramen options, and each with their unique offerings. Menya Tigre is offering the best curry ramen in Los Angeles. If you go there I would suggest that one thing; however, their fried chicken curry rice is also divine. The base ramen comes with a thick cut of pork. No egg. My friend got the extra egg and fried garlic, and he was delighted by it. I ordered extra pork on mine, which I added a photo of it in the review. If you are looking for spicy, you can add chili powder. It did not alter the savory curry taste too much, but it sure did make it spicy. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a different ramen offering on this street. Service was kind and attentive while sitting at the bar. I would recommend this spot.
An underrated restaurant on Sawtelle. Sometimes you just want curry and you want noodles too. They're the same owners as Anzu, so their karaage fried chicken is incredible. Tuesdays, their tsukemen is 15% off!
Very very yummy and the price is reasonable. First time trying keema noodle. It was very flavorful. Noodles are cooked perfectly: not soggy with the sauce and not very firm. Takoyaki was served at the perfect temperature. It was crispy on the outside. I thought the rice under the karrage rice bowl would be plain but it matches with the karrage, the yellow mustard and the eel sauce very well. Karrage is soooo tender and juicy. I also tried a bit of my friend's curry ramen. The broth is rich and tasting amazing too. Highly recommend
YumMenya Tigre in Sawtelle is a must-visit for fans of Japanese curry. Known for its rich, flavorful curry ramen, the restaurant offers a unique twist on traditional Japanese cuisine. The broth is savory and well-spiced, perfectly complementing the tender noodles and toppings. The cozy atmosphere and friendly service add to the experience, making it a top spot for a satisfying meal in the area.
I discovered this restaurant because of an article online. It got me drooling 🤤 after seeing pictures that Yelpers posted! Anyhow, you can do reservations from Yelp app which is wonderful but then again, I don't think many people know about this place so the waitlist was basically non-existent (I hope fellow reviewers can help this restaurant to get more traffic). Alright, moving on to food! We decided to try their Keema Bowl (basically beef bowl curry rice) 🍚. We enjoyed it a lot. I thought the seasoning was just right, not too salty (did you know: eating too much salt can cause puffiness on your face? BAD! 😧). I like my rice a little dry and that's what I got (so it doesn't taste like porridge). 😅 Next, we also ordered the Keema noodle (dry ramen, it's first on the list). The ramen texture was amazing, it tasted.. special. I can't think of a typical food dish to describe it, I don't think I have tasted anything like it. The dish came with minced pork, it was 😋. The last main dish we got was curry tsukumen 🍜. If you have tried Tsujita LA and tried their famous tsukumen but feel like their waitlist is making you go 😡. I would recommend coming here! The broth is curry flavored and I loved it! It comes with a slice of chasiu. What I wish could be better? The amount of meat per bowl. Noticed how I said the tsukumen only has a slice of chasiu? I wish it was a joke. This also applies to the Keema noodle, unfortunately. Nevertheless, you could always get additional meat. Also, there was a weird male waiter here. His mind seemed to be somewhere else. I ordered water with no ice, it came with ice. I asked for check, check never came. 😯 I asked for one to-go box, he gave two after echoing the quantity. As soon as I asked other servers for what I needed, it came almost right away. Little weird experience there but no biggie! Nevertheless, I love this place and would be coming back again in a couple of weeks or so! 😊 I recommend this place if you love curry and ramen!
Besides for having probably the best karaage (Japanese fried chicken) in SoCal, Menya Tigre has the best curry ramen and tsukemen as well. The tsukemen broth is tasty without being too heavy with just the right balance of curry flavor. They definitely use fresh instead of dried ramen noodles for all their offerings. Their keema mazesoba is an explosion of flavor with the chewiest of noodles one could wish for. Menya Tigre is on par with the other famous ramen joints in Sawtelle and then some more.

Curry ramen and tsukumen available at this small eatery. Came here for dinner with a friend on a Thursday evening around 7pm and there was no wait, although when we left, there was a small line of people waiting. Metered street parking. Credit cards accepted. Indoor dining available. The curry ramen was very flavorful and was a large portion, but it was so good I had to finish it. If you check in on Yelp, you can get a free fried garlic or fried onion. My friend enjoyed his keema noodles as well.
Came for a quick dinner bite. Food was tasty and service was efficient. Easy dine out option for kids. Curry ramen is unique, and actually goes well with the karaage. Egg yolk in ramen wasn't runny. Karaage sando was tasty and a good value.
They make one of the juiciest chicken karaage I have ever had, simply delicious. The curry chicken ramen is very good too although one piece of chashu is a bit hmmm to me. Noodles had a good bite and the curry broth on point.
Definitely need to try their ramen and ANZU karate joint! FOOD 4/5 Pork cutlet was thin, flavorful, and love how there's zero fat on it. The curry was good but not my fav ULTIMATE TSUKEMEN (Pork Cutlet)- ・100% Chicken Broth With House Blend Curry ・2 Pieces Pork Cutlet ・Soft Boiled Egg ・Bonito Flavor ・Menma , Green Onion CHASHU TSUKEMEN - Was suppose to come with 4 pieces but we only have (1 total) as shown on the picture on their site. ・100% Chicken Broth With House Blend Curry ・4 Pieces Chashu Pork ・Soft Boiled Egg ・Bonito Flavor ・Menma , Green Onion PARKING 3/5 Always tough finding parking on Sawtelle and within the perimeter CUSTOMER SERVICE 4/5 Standard attentive service, no issues. Ambience was clean.
I got the curry ramen. I liked the chewy texture of the noodles and the strong, spicy flavor of the curry. It came with bean sprouts. It was pretty loud inside of the restaurant and my party of four waited about 20~ minutes to be seated at 8PM on a Saturday night (not a downside, just what my experience was like).
The spicy fried garlic is actually spicy, which I love. I got the chashu curry ramen and the flavor of the broth was good and had a solid curry flavor that I wish was more prevalent. Also the broth being chicken in a pork dish is a bit off but that’s just a comment. The pork was delicious but not as fall apart as I’ve had at other places. I think the soft boiled egg was a bit overcooked too because there wasn’t a lot of yolk action when I broke it open. That said, I did really like this place and would have it as my second favorite ramen place in sawtelle.

This is actually an updated review for Anzu Chicken, which is now available at this location. The chicken is still good along with the mayo for dipping so the 4 stars are for the chicken alone. Unfortunately the fries are no longer boardwalk style (thick). They switched to very slim string fries and the ketchup tasted pretty cheap. The atmosphere is okay, I actually preferred their old location around the corner that always had shade due to the trees all over the place. And I also can't recall if the old location asked for a tip but they do now. The service wasn't bad but it wasn't great either. The servers weren't rude or enthusiastic but they also don't deserve a tip for my experience. I recommend ordering chicken only to go because that's what I'll be doing from now on. I have no idea why they moved out of their stellar location that I enjoyed a lot in the past but they made a mistake by joining an existing restaurant around the corner. It's just not the same experience.

Curry ramen spices are nice, but didn't like the thick layer of oil floating on the surface. Dulls the flavor, the oil doesn't taste good enough to feature so heavily in the meal, and also you don't feel good eating this. Think this kitchen is capable of better.
