Tasty and fresh food with great aervices. Waiter suggested a spicy oil to go with the salmon. Indeed, nice combination. Parking during lunchtime is a bit difficult. We got might be the last spot in the plaza.

We went there for my friend birthday, it was an amazing evening, we took my mom, she makes the best ñoquis aka Gnocchis, so she is not to kin to eat out, but she was amazed on how good they were. We will come back, we order the calamari(ok, miss the tentacles, those are my fav, but they don't serve them anymore), we also got the artichokes , WOW, delish, and the birthday boy order the GOLFO, what an amazing place. We closed the night with a great teramisu and cappuchino. We will be back. Specially on the 29th as it is our custom to eat ñoqui aka Gnocchi on every 29th of the month.

one of my favorite old school Italian restaurants in the area. good solid food and great service. I love my experience every time I go! desserts are tasty too.

Traditional Italian, comfortable decor, seatings were a bit tightly arranged, somewhat noisy also (or lively?), kind of hard to have a conversation across the table. Service was great. Prices were a bit on the high end, but good portions. The mixed green had a light dressing which I liked. The fried calamari was pretty good, lightly coated, tender. The pastas were all quite decent, flavorful, not heavy with fresh ingredients!

Aldo's has been one of the landmark Italian restaurants in the San Jose area for decades (similar in that way to Il Fornaio). They have a fantastic selection of food, fresh pasta and Gnocchi (I love the Bianca niece - aka Snow White gnocchi), veals fish and even a really tasty eggplant parmesan dish. The service is always great and the location feels open and spacious yet also inviting. They often have a number of specials so it is always a treat to try something new when you visit. The bar has many options so when you come here please expect a full dinner experience. Nowadays there are many great Italian options in the area, but this one has remained among my favorites.

I like this place. Veal parmesan and chicken parmesan are always available despite not being on the menu. For an Italian restaurant I don't get western wagon wheels hanging from ceiling? The food was good, the place was clean and the staff is always friendly.

They put good stuffs in the dishes in proper quantity: in Seafood, the numbers of clams, calamari were plenty (not just like few tokens like many other places). The smoked salmon had enough smoky flavor. The portion size was also satisfying. Also, they offer to sprinkle cheese on the dish.

Beautiful restaurant with wonderful homemade Italian food. Been coming here for years. Food is expensive but you are getting the finest quality of Italian food. Marvelous atmosphere; it’s the best you can find, truly.

Like so many restaurants the pandemic has hit them hard when it comes to employees. So expect a wait for food: However it was worth the wait the food and drinks were amazing. So yummy that we were sure to leave room for dessert. Everyone has to order there is no sharing dishes so come hungry and ready for takeout.

Awesome spot! Staff was really friendly and Johnny-on-the-spot with refills and clearing away dishes. We had a couole of cocktails (amazing), steak and chicken (both amazing), and a fantastic red wine (amazing). For dessert we had an excellent tiramisu. We'll be back for sure!

Surprisingly great Italian restaurant! Meatball spaghetti is probably the best I've had ever.. the prosciutto is awesome too.. one downside is menu dish names are really hard to remember for someone who doesn't speak Italian.. for example, I want to recommend the chicken with the prawn on top but I have no idea what the actual name of the dish is..

This is an authentic Italian restaurant with a lovely bar for someone wanting to enjoy a quality cocktail or watch sports while waiting for food to go, or table availability. It is very beautiful inside with high ceilings, romantic lighting, and an almost open kitchen. It is a semi formal place for an excellent meal. I was very impressed on my first visit.

I've been here several times and the atmosphere is great. It feels almost like family and the food is excellent. It's easy to over eat here so plan on taking it slow and come back a few times. The bar is fun and your can get meal service their too.

This has been my go to neighborhood restaurant for 20 years now. I know the owner and his staff as well. This is such an old school authentic Italian restaurants with the owner greeting you with a smile and old world Italian cooking. My go to dishes are the lobster ravioli and the gnocchi. Love sitting at the bar and watching sports on 2 flat screens.

Great experience! Had reservations and seating was quick. Had the Mozzarella Caprese as an appetizer and it was a little taste of New York, Italy, delicious! Sword Fish was perfectly grilled, GREAT flavor and not over done. Salmon was also perfecto! For desert, the crepe Alla Jovanna, delicious! Add to this Peroni on tap & Sambuca and this is a wonderful taste of old school Italian dining. Reccomend and will be back

Spectacular service and food. I ordered the chicken parm...don't think it's on the menu, but it was surely tasty!! Great portion as well. The artichoke appetizer is a must of your looking for a fresh start to your meal. We also tried the eggplant roll appetizer, and the sauce was amazing. Definitely try this restaurant if you haven't already! Aldo is fabulous and very personable. I feel like home when I eat at his restaurant. Thank you for the great experience, as always!

It was our first time here and we were super impressed with the service. We came in about 30 minutes before closing and planned to order quickly, but once our server greeted us he made sure we did not feel rushed. He offered us an appetizer and told us the specials. He was extremely professional and made sure we had everything we needed. The food was amazing and generous portions too, which was great because we were hungry after a long day out. We ordered desserts before they closed the kitchen, but he assured us not to rush and he would bring them out after we were done with dinner. We asked for the check when he brought the desserts, but he declined and told us to enjoy our sweet treats first. We felt so relieved not being rushed out. The tiramisu was the best I ever had. We don't live in the area, but when we come back we will definitely be back to this place to eat and hopefully a little earlier next time

The waiters are very classy and friendly. The food was very tasteful. Mixed drinks are strong. When you're done eating, the waiter puts all the food in boxes and bags. You don't have to lift a finger. Yeah, that kind of place. The cooks get down on those Ingredients.

We had my birthday dinner there and all of us loved it! We started with the gnocchi in a blue cheese and spinach sauce and the 3 of us split that as an appetizer. Plenty for all. My Italian husband is a gnocchi snob and he raved about it. We had veal entrees for dinner and each one was excellent. Very highly recommend!!

We've loved Aldo's for a long time. Great drinks...nice atmosphere...exceptional food. A little pricey however you definitely get what you pay for... And Aldo is a very nice guy. Even his family loves to dine there...so that says something. Plus if you happen to be there when he's there...don't be surprised if he doesn't stop by your table to check on you and your guests. Once I had some friends visiting from Germany and he brought the whole table some of his home made limoncello. It was awesome...and definitely not expected (I would never expect it again - hey...he probably doesn't make it all the time). Thank You Aldo!

Aldo's has been a favorite of mine for years. The atmosphere is warm and friendly, the service is prompt , and the food has always been excellent and consistent. I love the baked garlic cloves swimming in olive oil and Italian bread they serve when you first sit down. I was more than impressed by the calamari and octopus dish I had during my last visit. Superb in all respects.

D

Had heard of Aldo's many times from people who go regularly, but this past Monday was the first time I've been. They're as good as it gets, from what I've had so far. For Lent I gave-up wheat, so my go to pasta option was out for one more week. Had to find something without wheat, though I did break down and try the calamari appetizer my friend ordered, which was real good. Not quite as good as Giorgio's, where we'd gone a couple of weeks prior, and I'd also cheated a little, but in fairness I have to treat that appetizer as insignificant toward this review. Wasn't able to have the bread with olive oil either. The New York Steak Salad was what I ordered, and oh my goodness it was the best white bean salad with feta cheese and different types of lettuce-like greens ever! The dressing is pluperfect. But what's so singular is the quantity and preparedness of the steak. Cooked actual medium-rare, as I'd asked. Just about every place cooks medium rare to medium, including Giorgio's. My friend had the Rib Eye Steak, so we were able to do a side-by-side comparison. Ribeye is the more flavorful.

A group of 50 of us, for a work function, ate to our hearts content. Plates of food came out from antipasto, pasta, salads, meat, dessert. We all got to try everything! The flavors were all delicately delicious! Not sure of the cost but the wonderful friendly service added to the group festivity. It was worth any price! We all highly recommend it!

Warm, friendly atmosphere with delicious food and excellent service. Family owned restaurant - many nights, you will see Aldo himself visiting each table. One of my (many) favorite dishes is the Sofia Special - sauteed sausage and chicken with portobello mushrooms in a mustard cream sauce.

Aldo’s Ristorante has been in my top restaurants list for well over a decade. Serving delicious Italian main dishes, appetizers and desserts, Aldo and his staff cook some of the most amazing dishes I’ve tasted and a couple staples that just taste more tantalizing at Aldo’s. The calamari and Caesar salad for some reason tastes better at Aldo’s. I’d say it’s the dressing on the Caesar and the light and crispy coating on the calamari. The Sophia Special and Chicken Parmigiana are my favorite pasta meat dish. Aldo’s rib eye steak is delicious and sometimes when I want a good steak, I head to Aldo’s vs a steakhouse. Love the quality of meat and the way it’s prepared. So good. Desserts are yummy and don’t miss the limoncello. Full bar, beer and wine. Reservations by calling the restaurant. Outdoor and indoor seating. Clean restrooms.

Came here for a family get together after a funeral. While the occasion was sad, the food most certainly was not. I would literally drive hours for their fish dish. So delicious. They also had great pasta, salad, bread, and yummy desserts! Restaurant is nicely decorated, staff was wonderful, and they also have a large patio area. I would definitely come back here again when I'm in the area next.

Lively atmosphere in a nicely decorated and comfortable space. Private sections for large parties. The staff are very hard workers who move at the speed of light. The food is always hot and perfectly seasoned. Pasta, salads, steaks, seafood you name it.. it is all very well perfected. Aldo comes to our table everytime we're here and wants to know how our meal is. Great place for great Italian.

This place is good. I had a white fish fillet in some sort of wine sauce? It was recommended to me by my companion who has eaten here many times. I'd easily come back and have it again. I think I'll bring my wife here. I also had three glasses of wine with my dinner. I felt it. It was good. Eventually, I'll revise this review to be more detailed and coherent. Very nice atmosphere, food is excellent - we had Calamari Arrabiata (perfectly cooked calamari rings in a spicy red sauce with vegetables on the side) and Sophia Special (sausage and chicken chunks with a creamy mustard wine sauce over vegetables). Went there for a Seminar. The meal was free because I listen to how these people told us how they could cure our pain! It was very interesting. Anyway I had spaghetti with meat sauce and it was delicious 😋. I think I will go back for another meal of spaghetti with meat sauce. The prices are reasonable not to expensive. The place is located in Los Gatos.

A lovely, highly dog-friendly restaurant with outdoor (heated) patio and indoor (many small dog owners walked right in, pooches in arms) dining. Classic Italian fare, known for their veal. Competent seafood. Sauces are a bit bland and overly "mushy" (too much thickener and insufficient distinctive flavors) to make the food 5-star. Fried calamari was above average but still a bit chewy. The Antipasti Misto had too much cured meats and not enough veggies for my liking. Wish they continued to offer the toasted polenta (saw it in one of the menu photos). Spinach salad was good. Of the mains, the Lobster Ravioli was a bit fishy (tasted like defrosted seafood not fresh), the Scallopine alla Les (veal with brandy cream sauce) failed to let the brandy stand out in a smother of sauce - though the veal was very tender, as veal tend to be. The Specialita di Barbara (seafood on bed of salad) was very good. We had the Tiramisu & Vanilla Gelato. Both were very good and the combo was excellent. If I were to return, I'd lean in on seafood (but avoid any lobster), tomato sauces and salads. Would return just bc they're so relaxed about dogs! Service was prompt and attentive despite the pre Mother's Day crowd (place was packed).

This place has great Italian food; but there is no children's menu here. The restaurant can do half portions for our 11-year-old son. The service is friendly and patient while abiding to the COVID-19 protocols. We ate outside in the cold but there were gas burning heaters to keep us warm. For appetizer my son enjoyed the fried calamari more than his spaghetti and meatballs entree. My wife said the clam chowder was delicious.

Good food, good service, with a friendly, semi casual atmosphere. Aldo's has a very warm atmosphere and Decore with semi dim lighting which makes for a wonderful dinner environment with friends or family. At the front of the restaurant is a stylish bar that people can sit at and enjoy a meal and watch a game. Tonight my friend ordered veal piccata, not in the menu, which they gladly made for him. I ordered a fruita de Mare style pasta and wifey ordered a pasta with pine nuts and Parmesan cheese. To drink we ordered a glass of wine, a Shirley Temple and a Maduri sour. “You can guess who had the Shirley Temple... yes it was me” The “dranks” came out right away and were good. After some great conversation din din showed up. The food prep looked really good and the flavors I felt was on point. The service, though good felt a little rushed, otherwise overall it was a very good dining experience.

Celebrating a birthday, had a reservation for 8:30 party of 7 and took 45 minutes for us to get sat even though there were empty tables. The two hostess didn’t have the initiative to sit us until we asked for the fourth time. However the food is delicious and the server Emmanuel made our night so much better.

Very tasty and fresh food and extensive menu, attentive and welcoming service. A little noisy is my only complaint. Would highly recommend this place!

A very authentic Italian menu with several surprised that are hard to find anywhere. I had the Pennsylvania Sicilian which is very close to pasta a la Norma, a fantastic egg plant dish. It has a nice bar and a nice outdoor patio and the service is very friendly.Great location and easy parking.

Excellent food. The dining area was pretty loud and a bit cramped. I'm wondering if those were both due to the holiday season. The parking lot was entirely full and it looked like they were hosting a party so I suspect additional tables may have been added. Either way, would most certainly go there again.

I took my wife there for her birthday we both enjoyed the food very much. The atmosphere was very comfortable. I would have only one suggestion is the service would be a little faster. I will recommend this restaurant to all who I know.

24 ladies from Flowers of Comfort had our holiday luncheon here. Flower arrangements were made by Vicki. Service and food was good, the company amazing women coming together.

This use to be one of our favorite restaurants but it seems to have taken a step backwards. We went on a Thursday and it was still pretty busy.

Some great dishes. Artichoke appetizer was a standout, as was short rib tortellini and veal. Seafood pasta had too much calamari and not enough other seafood. Caesar salad was tasty but dry - and also on the small size for the portion. Service was great. Accordionist was excellent but the place is VERY noisy!!!! We also had to wait 30 minutes for our table despite having a reservation. (But that did score us a free glass of wine!)

The place is very popular and LOUD, so if you are seeking a quiet date night, you might need to seek another option. We saw a couple of huge long tables celebrating birthdays so it seems like a place to gather for special occasions.

Ambiance is great ,appetizers good. Great for a date nite. Was very happy with their meal. Their clam showdwr is tasty not loaded with potatoes. They help each other to make customers happy. Their is life at this restaurant and light background italian music, and you can hear each other talk.

Food is okay. Excellent value for money but don't expect too much. I stick to their pastas as the chicken and veal dishes aren't great. Service is excellent with lots of waiters who have been working there for years and know you by name after the third time you go there. Overall, a good choice for an Italian restaurant in Los Gatos but keep reasonable expectations.

First time eating at Aldo's...The people we were there with had been before. Food was good. Seems like a reliable, solid place to dine. Tiramisu was very good and house chardonnay is tasty.

It's a pretty solid experience. A little loud, but manageable. Staff is attentive and kitchen will take reasonable requests (i.e., stuffed veal with marsala sauce can be ordered as plain veal marsala.) Last two visits here have been for special occasions (groups of 6-8) and have been very good experiences. Pricey, but not outrageous.

Ordered the Basa Pesce. White fish lightly battered with a lemon butter sauce. Couple of vegetables were also very tasty. My wife had the goat cheese risotto without the lamb. The risotto was good with the goat cheese giving it at little zing.

Been a long time (over 20 years?) since eating here, but our recent experience was excellent all around. Worth a 4 1/2 if I could.

A very large, clean restaurant and have eaten there many times in the past. Unfortunately, this time, my father and I both had the lasagna, which was good but not very warm. We were both sick that evening. Will try again in the future.

Food was good. But the service was just a bit lacking this time. When my food arrived, it was not what I ordered. They promptly apologized and took it back, but it was around ten minutes until the correct dish came back. So I had to awkwardly watch my friend eat his meal while I had nothing. This is ok at Applebee's, but I expect better at such a price place as this. Hopefully next time will be better.

Aldo's is reasonably priced restaurant that is quite family friendly. I enjoy the atmosphere and find the wait staff pleasant and attentive. Generally speaking, the food is tasty and comes out hot. Downsides are that some of the sides are misses. Example, the calamari feels like it's probably from Sysco and cooked very inconsistently. The polenta is very tasty, but you have to eat it fast, because it cools very quickly and goes from creamy, to gluey, to solid very quickly. For me the main thing is that they're family friendly and serve good food. They have a fairly good rotation on the specials.

Service wasn't what it should be. Had to ask three times for bread and twice for water. Also, we were seated in front of a service door in a corner near the bar. There were plenty of other more appropriate seating options for a family of seven. Food was OK, but not special, especially considering the semi high pricing.

Our family is vegetarian. I am vegan. We ordered the gnocchi, and a couple of pasta dishes. The vegan dish was supposed to be a simple pasta dish with just olive oil and garlic for flavor. However, it had a bitter aftertaste. The waiter attributed it to the arugula. In any case, I could not eat more than a few bites. The gnocchi and the other pasta dish were also meh. None justified the price tag. The place has a great ambience - nice decor and live music. We will not be going back though.

Years since I’ve been to Aldo’s and the place hasn’t changed much. Huge open dining room leads to lots of conversational noise, mostly coming from the crowded bar. The menu has more interesting choices than most in this genre, so you’re bound to find something different. It’s also more expensive here than similar places. As with other places, the Caprese Salad shouldn’t be on the menu with hard, underripe tomatoes, but that’s what you’ll get. My friend got the Bistecca Italiana (rib eye), came out rarer than expected and a nasty gristle grain running through. My partner had the Pollo Ortolano, great flavor but the pounded chicken was still tough. I had one of the daily specials, Veal Cannelloni, which was very good. Would love to give this place four stars, maybe next time.

Food was good but nothing exciting . Not worth the wait. (We waited 45 mins for our dinner. ) service was lackluster. Slightly over priced for what we got quality and portion wise. Not sure I’ll come back. Better options In campbell and Los Gatos

Packed! Great atmosphere and the menu looked great. The food however was mediocre at best. Bruschetta was literally just chopped tomatoes on plain bread. The grilled Calamari was under flavored as well. Didn't stay for dinner. Mama Mia's is a much better alternative.

We used to go to Aldo’s years go and the food was amazing. Something changed tonite we had the worst food experience the meat in my pasta tasted rancid, , my husband had the lasagna he barely ate any. His comment was that there was something bad about the meat sauce. Not a very good food experience it almost seems like the restaurant is pulling all their old freezer food. So disappointing to say.

So the review is based on the quality of the vegetarian food. Service, chef, manager and owners are greatest I have come across. The Gnocchi Biancaneve was really really bad - I could taste the flour still. The bruschetta was totally just toast points with tomatoes on it. The spumoni was decent but nothing to die for. The free bread and olive/ garlic oil was the best I have eaten.

This was our first time in Aldos. We ordered all specials of the day: burrata salad (was delicious; the ingredients were great, hard to spoil), grilled salmon (was okay) and lamb chops: here’s were it all went wrong. I believe the chef doesn’t know how to cook, otherwise how could he burn the chops so that they were literary bitter no matter how you clean them… this plate just ruined our experience (and that was the days special)

What happened to Aldo’s? ☹️ Have gone there for the past 6+ years with good experiences but last night was a major disappointment. My veal meal had only two very small pieces of veal and the balance of the plate was filled with pasta. When I asked if it was a mistake I was told no that the restaurant is cutting back to save money. Too bad as the food had historically been good with fair portions

The service was great. The waiter was wonderful but the two of us who ordered the lasagna were terribly disappointed. Maybe we got there too early and the lasagna is cooked better later in the evening. The others in our party were somewhat pleased with our meals. Desserts were good.

This is possibly one of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever visited. Do NOT go here. I went to their Los Gatos restaurant because it's close to my new home, hoping it would be better than their Los Altos location (which is equally horrendous). It's not. I started with the worst Caesar Salad I've ever had. Come on, how do you f*%# that up? Next I had a piece of chicken that was way overcooked, made worse by the eggplant on it that was far undercooked. I told the waiter and they brought me another dish. This time the chicken was cooked fine but still the sauce was uninspired and the eggplant was chewy and undercooked. Little things were the waiter's lack of attention to us and his wine recommendation, which was piss poor. Considering how expensive this place is, I'd expect a waiter who knew the wine list. The ambiance of the restaurant is very nice, so I suspect that's the only reason people go there. I on the other hand will never go again.

It was my second time going to this restaurant. We ordered Basa fillet, Salmon and Fettuccine as main food and Calamari as appetizer. The Salmon was really good, but Basa fillet not as good as before. Calamari was awful and not fresh at all, all the bread crumbs were shredded and separated from the calamari. Regarding their service quality our waiters were not really caring and did not check on us, for a drink refill I had to ask them 3 times and even while I was eating my salad the waiter didn’t pay attention and took my plate. Also they made a mistake in taking orders for my niece and she had to wait for a long time to have her food and they even didn’t bother themselves to apologize. I ordered hot water before my drink and the cup they brought had stains from remaining coffee of other guests. Regardin tip surcharge, I have seen that recently some restaurants charge you automatically but at least you expect to receive a good service and being charged automatically while you are not satisfied is really a disrespect. Moreover they charged us for the sides of our fish, the salad and the Risotto separately which were supposed to be as part of our food. Considering not having a very high quality food and the auto charges without giving heads up and some disrespectful waiters, I don’t recommend them anymore!

Drove by and saw this place, looked nice. My husband and I love Italian food and I was thinking this could be a great place for us to enjoy for a future date night. I went inside to check it out and use the restroom since I traveled from almost an hour away. Someone who worked there asked “can I help you? I said yes, where is the restroom please? He said it was a private event and I couldn’t use it. No big deal however what really left a bad taste in my mouth was that he looked me up and down before saying no. Seriously? Very judgmental. If he would have left it at this is a private event, I would have had no problems leaving but you had to be rude. Disgusting. Be better. Costs $0 to be kind dude.

Aldo's has been a favorite of our since we first discovered it, and I've always had the highest regard for the food and ambiance. But, an incident as recently as last night has now left a sour taste with us, and a blemish on the restaurant's reputation. My wife and I were there to celebrate a combined double birthday and anniversary, and were looking forward to delicious meal, as well as enjoying the leftovers coming home with us. Upon opening them the next evening I noticed that half of the leftovers were missing. My wife called the restaurant and spoke with someone who identified himself as Aldo (Who was most probably Salvatore, since he is now running the place) to explain the situation, and this stunad gave her immediate grief with churlish comments such as, "So, are you trying to get a free meal ?", and "Maybe it's because this restaurant is too expensive for you", and "No, it wasn't my employees, you should have checked the box before you left here" Whoever made those comments has crossed an unforgiving line.....
