We heard about the restaurant in the hotel and tried it out and were so happy, especially with the stellar service from Alexis G. He was a knowledgeable, professional and bright shining light on our day. We will have to stay here next time, the food is OFF THE CHARTS as well. Thanks again!
We dined for Valentine’s Day ($80/person for a 4 course meal) and I’d have to say that as a broke college kid, this was money well spent!! I attached pictures of each dish. . . . Izzy is the best waitress we could ask for! The kitchen was way behind but her amazing attitude made the time fly by!
Pretty good food here. It's a little pricey, but they have a good selection, and it's all put together well. The crispy brussel sprouts are really good!
This was one of the best cheeseburger I have ever had. I had the tenderloin burger in a jalepeno bun, and it was amazing. Pricy, but amazing. Atmosphere was excellent as well. Very classy place.
Have a nice basic menu ! Waiters and waitresses were great. My tea glass stayed full all 3 times I've eaten there . There pecan pie is almost as good as my grandmother used to make !!!
Came in on a Saturday night around 8pm. They had a live singer who was soooo great! I ordered the Gouda Mac with Brisket and it was good. Just had to add a little more seasoning to make it better. But it was still good. I finished the night with their espresso martini. SO SO SO GOOD! I 1000% recommend getting one.
At the Overtun Hotel. What a great find on a Sunday afternoon! The club sandwich is very unique (Jalepeno Cornbread) but you can change the bread. Loved it.
Awesome late dinner! Frank was awesome and took good care of us during our visit. DFW, wedge salad and special trout with angel hair pasta!!!Awesome
The shrimp tacos are absolutely amazing and the bourbon Buffalo chicken wings had a perfect sweetness to contrast the bleu cheese dressing. I will absolutely be coming back!
This is a very upscale place! The food is the best i have ever had! Our server Kara was great! The childs menu is excellent! The Pot Roast is to die for! Yes the prices are high but for sure worth it!
Food was not just for show, very tasty. Excellent service and atmosphere.
Absolutely amazing food and superb service. Kaitlyn and M were quick to get us seated and served!
Our little group goes to the Pecan Grill quarterly and Melissa (bartender) is our server. She always remembers what each one of us drinks and very attentive! The food is always delicious and perfect! Ambiance is over the top! Very nice!
They seem to have two separate restaurants in one outside on the patio. More bar type with a smaller menu. The inside restaurant was a little bit fancy. No tablecloths on the tables, but food was delicious. The waitress was very sweet. Found out it was our anniversary and without having to ask, she brought a plate with dessert that said happy anniversary on it. So sweet!. They said that's in a nice quiet spot. The music was not too loud and was perfect. The hotel itself is beautiful. The only downfall would be no restrooms in the restaurant...it's in the hotel lobby.
Got a couple drinks at this bar as it was attached to the hotel. Our bartender was really great and recommend some excellent cocktails. Live music was also there and there was this brilliant singer/guitarist. Next day I had lunch at the restaurant and got the Chicken and Swiss. It was really good. I would definitely recommend.
For a breakfast buffet, everything was very well done. Fresh fruit, crispy bacon and eggs cooked to order. Taylor was our server and she was excellent.
I was a party of one on a Monday night. The server was pleasant and attentive. I ordered the chicken and a sweet ice tea. Both came quickly. The ice tea was delicious with the perfect amount of sweetness. The chicken was flavorful, the rice was hot and delicious, and the green beans were buttery and tender. After dinner, I ordered the orange chiffon cake. It looked fantastic and tasted great! What an awesome meal!!
So this review is for the bar food only. I cannot afford to eat in their main restaurant. Which is an issue they need to correct. Cannot ask folks with a per diem to pay 50 bucks for a steak. Now for the bar food, has the pecan salad and smoked wings one evening and a burger for lunch the next day. The salad was nothing to write home about. Their house onion sauce wasn't great. But hey it's a salad. The wing? Delicious. Hint of smoke, great flavor, sauced well. Would eat again. Now the burger for lunch? That was damn good. I hate when a place asks "how do you want it cooked" because normally it's just a frozen patty they throw on the grill and it is what it is. Not here. Not this day. It was a fresh hamburger, burger. Cooked freaking medium. Blew my mind. Had great grill marks. Super tasty, great bun. Yeah I was diggin' it. While it's a $18 burger and tots, have to say I would order it again.
Tasty food, room service was convenient and food was served hot
Lovely place, good food. We celebrated my Mom's 81st birthday there. There were three of us. The food was very good. The bartender was pleasant and attentive. We dined inside, but the flies almost carried us away. Those that have given a negative review, I believe all dined in the main room at night while we were in the bar area. Maybe that was the difference. It was quiet, though we were there about 2pm. We were not hurried, and due to seeing the menu beforehand, it did not surprise me of the prices or selections.
We like to go to the Pecan Grill bar because of the great service and atmosphere, but the food could definitely be better for the price. We mainly go for drinks, and the live music is really good too. Shea is the best bartender and always makes sure we are taken care of there, so we like to go when she is working. Would recommend for the drinks and the service!
The atmosphere is more upscale than most restaurants in Lubbock, including many more expensive places. The food is good although understandably expensive, and the service is usually quite good. We’ve had a variety of dishes over the years and only had one miss — an overcooked salmon dish. To be fair, getting good salmon prepared well is not easy here, so I wouldn’t hold that against them.
We are here in December for a celebration dinner with a party of 7. We had an early reservation so we’re seated quickly, although the table was t setup for our party size until we were sitting down. Service was ok - our server was new and didn’t even know that we would get bread with the meal. Drinks were often left empty, granted they did get more busy, but were not busy at all when we arrived. The food was okay, only spectacular, and not worth the price. We like to eat and have no problem spending considerable amounts of money on an exceptional steak dinner, unfortunately, our entrees were just ok. We opted to get dessert elsewhere as dinner took more than two hours as it was and we didn’t even order appetizers. Overall it was an ok experience, just disappointing for a celebration dinner.
The food is good. 100% not worth the price tag. Would have given four stars for a more reasonably priced menu. If you're charging $40 for salmon I better be craving that dish. Nothing we had was worth the price and the atmosphere was just a basic upscale hotel restaurant, nothing notable. The only thing I'd go back for and highly recommend is the aftershock cookie with Shiner Bock beer ice cream, which was incredible. Don't waste your $!
Ordered room service because the description of the brisket taquitos did sound amazing. The brisket didn’t have much flavor and extremely dry due to being fried. I would ask for BBQ or try another menu item.
This place has so much potential. The ambiance is amazing, the location is wonderful, and the staff are overwhelmingly so nice with their on the nose southern hospitality. The food on the other hand could use some work. The French toast was alright but definitely could have used a better softer french bread and a little more cinnamon for my taste. The skillet LOOKED amazing but overall lacked flavor and if they had thrown it in a broiler with a layer of cheese on top to brown it would have definitely made me give them four stars. Overall not a bad place to try out but we more than likely will try somewhere else on our travels through Texas next time.
Ok. Got the fried steak. Not bad, but not worth $26. The server wearing rubber gloves was not appealing. Gave me the impression she just got done cleaning a toilet or using chemicals which im sure she didnt, but still enters your mind when you see them. Hands are washed, not gloves, and I cant imagine the germs collecting. Atmosphere is good. Service was fast, even if I grabbed my own menu. Overall just ok.
Went on a Monday, not busy at all. I'm only giving the food 3 stars because when it came out it was barely over room temperature. I would have sent it back, but our waitress didn't come back for quite some time. The crab cakes came out hot and were really good lump crab. My husband got the steak chimichurri and his was warmer than my braised beef rib. The steak was good, but the chimichurri was missing something. I don't think my beef rib was a beef rib at all, more like pot roast. It had good flavor, just needed to be warm. We had the lemon "tiramisu" which is not tiramisu at all, more like lemon meringue pie, with cookies as the crust. It was really good, just don't expect anything similar to tiramisu. The ambiance and restaurant are very nice for the area, but service is truly lacking. I would give it another chance, but would sit at the bar, so I wouldn't have to look for my server.
I’m not for sure if they forgot me, but took 40min to get my food on the table and they forgot my toasts. Food wasn’t very hot, porched eggs were already dried up…. It wasn’t worth the try. Servers were very apologetic, only reason to get 2 stars
What a beautiful space! Unfortunately the food doesn’t come close to matching the ambience, living up to the service, or being worth the price. Chicken fried was breaded nicely, but considering its made with prime rib, had no flavor. New York Strip was the same. Cooked correctly. Plated nicely. No flavor. Sides were creative but lukewarm. Will try it again, but will likely stick with appetizers and sandwiches.
The food was great but the service was terrible. Went there for breakfast with my brother and my dad. We got 2 menus for 3 people, we got no drink refills, no one asked us how the food was, we saw our waiter once during the entire time we were eating, and we had to flag someone down to go find him because we were waiting 20 minutes for him to bring the check. It’s all easily fixable things that shouldn’t be a problem to begin with. Again great food and maybe dinner service is better but coming from someone who doesn’t normally have high standards this was disappointing.
Ordered cream of mushrooms soup. Basically tasted like milk gravy. I think the little dark pieces were the mushrooms. Had flour lumps. The ceasar salad was acceptable, chicken was overcooked and dry.
My family was excited to try this restaurant while staying at the Overton 7/27/2025. Unfortunately it was not the experience we were hoping for and will not be returning. The food was the only thing we enjoyed. The long wait, no refills, being ignored, racial profiled, and management not caring makes it easy to not return. We arrived for dinner and were the only table. Khloe soon greeted us and got our drink and food order then we were not attended to again until our food came out 30-40 minutes later. Other people arrived while we waited and were receiving water, wine, etc refills but our table was not offered refills once. Like mentioned before the food was delicious but the wait was not worth it especially when seeing all other tables who arrived after us get their food before us. Also food was a little hard to swallow since our drinks were all empty. My brother tried speaking to management who just made excuses of why the wait was long and why we weren’t offered refills. There is no excuse for this and she seemed to just not care that we were unhappy. If you don’t mind waiting or being given excuses instead of accountability then go ahead and check out The Pecan Grill.
I went here with my wife because we were craving a dinner that we haven’t tried before. The food was adequate and I would honestly give the food to three stars. We got the braised short rib, which is seen in the picture. We also got the bruschetta for the appetizer, which was a little bit on the expensive side. The reason I gave it two stars is because the service was so slow. It took the servers a very long time to get us food or even take our order. It took even longer to get the food to us. I know it takes time to cook food, but this one felt even longer. We didn’t even get our water refilled during the entire dinner.
25th anniversary gift from the kids. Its ok. They didn’t know. Service was great, drinks were great. The food was terrible. You can serve a rare steak that isn’t freezer cold. When you’re called out on it you don’t slam it in the salamander until the steak is medium and the lobster is rubber. Very sorry we pissed off the cook (the chef was apparently off that night). This is a never again situation. Damn. The kids tried to set us up with a great night too. I can’t even tell THEM how disappointing this experience was.
Went for Valentine's four course meal. We had come here a few years ago and the food was exceptional. This time we left extremely disappointed. The service was not stellar. They sent us in a half booth half table within 2 ft of another couple when the whole restaurant was very empty. The food was plated well looked good in the pictures but if you notice the butter was not even melting on the steak as the steak was cold I imagine it had set back in the kitchen for a while. We did the wine pairing which was very little wine per serving and not exceptional and not worth the $150 additionial price. The server kind of forced the wine pairing on us. We asked if we could get the steaks warmed up as they were cold. The manager came over the chef came over and gave us $20 discount took the steak back to kitchen brought it back not much warmer. We will not return. Went to the bar area afterwards The service there was also very weak. It took at least 25 minutes before we were helped. We asked for margaritas It tasted like lime juice. The whole Valentine experience at the Overton was extremely disappointing.
We were there for our anniversary. Everything was good but all of a sudden, their Manager came and took all our joy. Earlier that day, like couple of hours ago, we called them and asked if they have any anniversary cake and we were told they don't have it. And then, we asked if we could get our own and we were told "of course, you can" so, we took our own anniversary cake. But, when we reached there and when we were eating food and enjoying our anniversary, the manager came and told us that it was fine to have our cake there on the table but we wouldn't be allowed to consume it. That was ridiculous because, we thought about not being allowed to take our own cake so, we called them to confirm and we were told yes. Otherwise, we wouldn't have bothered to get our own cake. I would definitely not recommend this place for any events and occasion.
All around bad experience. I made a reservation for our anniversary. We showed up on time and we’re seated in a nearly empty restaurant. We waited 1 hour for our drinks which were delicious. Our appetizer was a charcuterie board that came to the table with rancid meat on the plate. Smelled so bad I had to set it across the table from me. The $40 fillet I ordered at medium was well done. All problems were mentioned to the server, who was doing her best and I don’t fault her, but other than comping the appetizer did nothing to make it right. I hope they were just having a bad night but for $150 meal I will be taking my business somewhere else.
The food and service was good up until it was time to pay. We asked for our bill and it took 45 minutes before we received the check and they were still weren’t accurate. We asked for the bill several times and after waiting 30 minutes one of us went into the back looking for a server to help us because at this point we just wanted to leave. The manager ignored us and sat in his office and instead sent out the chef. From that point it took another 20 minutes to see the manager who had no explanation for why it took so long but instead offered us drink vouchers. Our waiter was kind but very very new to serving and didn’t come back out until right before we left and thankfully apologized. I understand getting stressed out but for what we paid for our food the service should not have turned out so bad. Not upset with the waiter, more so disappointed in the managers lack of managing. I’d suggest eating someplace else as the restaurant was not busy yet incredibly slow.
One of the worst dinners I’ve had in Lubbock. Zero flavor/seasoning. Our waitress was great. Will be lucky if one of our dogs eats the ribeye. Save your $200 for a real meal at La serina, west table or Chez Sami. Do NOT go here. Also, old fashion was watered down and all wine was warm 🤮 I repeat, hard no for any recommendations unless you like banquet food and that’s being generous.
Well to start the waiter spilled water twice all over a friend of mine while pouring a glass of water. Next he could not get his mind in the game kept running into chairs and acting very weird. But the real problem is the food I ordered a 14 oz ribeye med rare and when the food was brought out it was cold. I told the waiter hey this is not even warm to the touch and he felt the steak and agreed. And to make things worse the steak that came out was dry and I am almost certain it was the same steak. My wife have the shrimp linguine and had no flavor and missing the artichokes that the menu said it came with. Asked for those and the waiter said that’s a new item and we don’t have all the ingredients to serve with it. I expect a great experience in a place like this and a manager did not bring me my new steak out nor ever come buy to make it right. Most places will take the item of the bill or offer a free dessert, nope none of that. It sad that I enjoyed my Allsups burrito more than this meal and at $172 this place is a JOKE. Out of a party of 4 one person had a decent meal but it was only warm not hot.
I had high hopes going into this place. However, it was very dead inside and our service was so bad we left to go eat somewhere else. I will say our appetizer tasted amazing and the espresso martini was the best I’ve had. But the service was so surprisingly bad, we couldn’t stay. They split our party up so we weren’t sitting together. Then our separate table had 4 people and they gave us 3 menus and said “fight over it” then the server took my drink order and tried to walk away. We had to tell him “everyone wants to order a drink sir”. My sister in law told the manager about how we were treated and we were going to close our tab and leave. The manager said “I’ll go talk to them” but he just made eye contact with us and walked right past us instead. So they told another manager and he said “I’m gonna buy yall another round on me” When my husband tried to just have him pay for our first round, he said “no I’m personally going to buy yall another round before you leave” and it took like 20 minutes to get our check. We have never been disrespected like this at place of SERVICE.
My wife and I were looking forward to a nice meal after a long day on the road. We were sorely disappointed at this restaurant. I ordered the Pecan Grill Salad which was supposed to come with candied pecans. It came with none. When I sent it back it returned with a small sprinkling of pecan crumbs. Really awful. I also ordered the red snapper. It was bone dry. Obviously previously frozen and over cooked. Also sent it back. Finally had the bison tenderloin which was fine.
Had a reservation for 12 people for 8 pm. When we showed up they told us they thought it was for 2 people and that my party had to wait to be served, which was fine since we got drinks going and time passed. However, we ordered entrees at 9 pm. Not only did the food show up after a solid hour and thirty minutes later, but half the orders were missing. Another 30 minute wait while people’s food got cold. 30 minutes later, half the orders are cold, and the steaks weren’t cooked as required. I ordered a med well new york steak and it came out overly well done. Never booking here again.
Don’t come here if you have somewhere to be after, even if you give yourself plenty of time. Service was incredibly slow for drinks and food. We were there for an hour and a half and never got our meals. We had to leave because we had somewhere to be and couldn’t be late. An hour and a half should be plenty of time to eat at an almost empty restaurant on a Monday evening. The restaurant was not busy at all, and now I see why. There is no reason for a wait to be that long. When we would ask for an ETA on our food we kept being told “about 10 more minutes.” People around us waited 15+ minutes before even being greeted by a server and getting water. We didn’t get bread until we had been sitting there for an hour. We ordered a bottle of wine and it took a noticeably long time for it to get to our table. Not worth the hassle!
Stay clear of this place. We waited around 1 hour for the food and when it arrived it was shocking. The "filet" is a cheap piece of what appears to be a sirloin and comes burnt to a crisp. The vegetables were undercooked and the food had obviously been sitting because it was not even warm. Obviously very poor management because they never came out once to deal with all of the issues and sent their front line staff to apologize. Just all around terrible experience!
Don't set foot in this restaurant anywhere near Valentine's Day. They will spring a $70 per diner prix fixe menu on you once you're already seated. (A prix fixe menu is one with a set price, from which one must order every course from an abbreviated list.) I called to make a reservation on Feb 11 for the following day. They made no mention of the special menu. An email confirmation of the reservation also did not mention it, nor did the hostess as I asked to be seated. Only after my date and I were seated and the server approached was the menu mentioned. This was a *first date.* Obviously this made her uncomfortable, and although I was annoyed, there was no graceful way to back out at that point. The charcuterie board was half overripe fruit. The salads were wilted. Entrees were fine. The dessert was overripe chocolate covered strawberries. The meal would have been a poor value at half the price. In a more relaxed social situation I would not have eaten most of the food, as it should have been thrown away at least a day before. I won't return.
Told we could sit on the patio, where others were seated, they said they would come and wait on us. Waited 15 minutes and no service. Got up. Asked for menus and service, and were told someone would be right out. 15 minutes later, we left because no one ever showed up. Too bad, the menu looked great, and the atmosphere was nice. Obviously, management needs to have a staff meeting.
I sat at the bar intending to order lunch. There were 3 spots at the bar that the plates hadnt been cleared. I waited 10 min for someone to show up which they never did so i left.
We went in on a Monday. There was only one server and two new hires. Our waitress did everything she could for one person. The manager did not really help at all or didn't seem like he did. The new hires just didn't have a clue what to do. We only saw the manager when he walked food out before the appetizer. He told us he could take back the appetizer and take it off the bill. He had no management skills, no apology, no solution. Could not help or direct his staff. He could obviously not schedule correctly. The poor waitress was the only one on the floor who knew anything. We ordered beers that never came. Ordered appetizers that came after food. Ordered pecan pie and ice cream that melted before we could leave. We were very patient until the end when we waited over 30 minutes for our tickets. When complaining to the manager. He told us to have a good night. And he understood if we didn't come back. No apologies, no defending his waitress. The food was good but for the 400 to 500+ dollars spent, it should have been a much better experience.
