I go here all the time and love the yummy food, chill atmosphere, great prices, and kind staff. This is a great go-to sushi spot for dinner out that isn’t too expensive ♥️
I love this place! I’m so glad it opened in Menlo Park. We usually go to the one in Palo Alto but decided to check out this place that just opened in Menlo Park and it’s just as good! The service is fast. They seated us pretty much when we walked in, took our order quickly, and we didn’t have to wait too long for our appetizers or sushi to arrive. The downside is they don’t open as late as the Palo Alto one. Also since they just opened there were free drinks, but don’t know how long they will keep that up since that’s just an opening thing (when we went in November). The food is great as usual. It’s the same level of quality as the Palo Alto location which is great. They have relatively affordable sushi and the rolls are very flavorful. The inside is nice. It has pretty standard Japanese decorations. It is small like the Palo Alto one, but still has plenty of tables to seat everyone. I also like how it’s located next to Safeway. It’s very convenient to get dinner and then also get your grocery shopping in as well. The parking was also not a problem since it’s located in the same plaza as Safeway. We just parked in the lot outside and it was fine.
I eat here at least twice a month, and last week, a group of us took a coworker here for his birthday. I told the waitress that it was our coworker's birthday and asked if they did something special for birthdays, and she said they didn't. This certainly wasn't a deal breaker, so we all ordered. As we were finishing our lunches, we heard 'happy birthday' start playing, and the waitress and another staff member brought out a sushi cake made up of two layers of rice with orange sauce in the middle and on top, and salmon layed out in a circle on top. It was far better than anything we would have imagined from a sushi restaurant. I asked if they'd made this kind of birthday cake before, and they said - never. Everything was excellent, and they took the time to set up the 'happy birthday' song and create a great sushi cake.
amazing new restaurant that just opened in the sharon green neighborhood! the servers are so kind, and the food was delicious and very fresh. we will definitely be back :)
I can confidently say that if you want good sushi, this is the place to come. The sashimi is very fresh and amazing, and I highly recommend the deluxe box-it's one of the best things you'll ever have. While the meat and chicken aren't the standout items here, the service is excellent, and the sushi is definitely worth trying.
Newly opened location of MJ Sushi, fast, clean, and efficient sushi. Philadelphia roll was generous and filling, and chicken karage was light and crispy. A good value!
Amazing! Both, the food and service. My new favorite place in Sharon Highlights.
We had sashimi and it was fresh! Thick slices and decent variety (sake, hamachi, tuna, toro, albacore tuna). They even served some fresh wasabi in addition to the usual green paste. Miso soup was small, but good enough and not expensive.
Great sushi, great experience! Tons of flavor, fast and precise execution and a fantastic service! Highly recommended!
Good for lunch. They are open all day. Uni ,Otoro and amaebi was fresh.
Very relaxed spot with great rolls at an affordable price and free drinks Monster and California rolls were delicious

By far our favorite sushi spot. Absolutely stellar food and service.
got two lion rolls, was delicious, they forgot about our second roll and gave us both miso soup on the house to compensate. great service. happy with them. less crowded than one in sf plaza
This place is ASTRONOMICAL. Sushi is cheap for the area, is extremely flavorful, and the attention to detail on some of these rolls are just chefs kiss. I come here very often to get food and it is highly enjoyed by me and friends. If your in the area and are craving sushi this is the place to go. One (extremely) small downside is for the tuna. Sometimes it's color is very light and is sometimes chopped in smaller rolls like the smaller tuna roll. Other than that everything is PERFECT

Deluxe Charashi bowl was great. Good quality fish. A Must try.
Generous portions that arrived quickly. One roll may have had too much sauce. One kid wanted the karaage to be crispier but I found it to be fine. They really enjoyed the caterpillar roll. Cosy atmosphere that's quite casual.

Had a business lunch here and was early to avoid the crowd. Service was prompt and polite and prices were very reasonable. We had a roll, Chirashi and vegetable tempura - all tasted delicious and good quality. Close to 280 - good for quick lunch.
I went in today for take out dinner. I ordered a mix of shrimp and veggie tempura and chicken teriyaki. I saw that they had the tempura for my order done first. It sat there for about 15-20 minutes before my entree was ready to go. By the time I got home it was mushy. The tempura should be ready at the same time as the entree is ready. The chicken teriyaki was tasty but it lacked sauce. So I guess I’ll need to order it with sauce on the side next time. The food was overall tasty just a couple small issues.
Pros: - Wonderfully friendly staff. You ladies rock! - Reasonably priced for Japanese food - Sashimi, tempura and some simple rolls decent. - Complimentary bottle of Sapporo beer much appreciated Cons: - DO NOT order the tamago (omelette)nigiri. Contents are unknown. - Inari sushi is not much better :-( (Come on, these are the most basic sushi.) - Salmon skin handroll is definitely underwhelming at best. Maybe they've expanded too quickly with 5 locations. Good sushi is not easy to make. WARNING: Don't eat sushi in JAPAN 日本 and then come here. Quality is absolutely lower than cheapest boat (JPY150) sushi place in Tokyo. If you haven’t eaten sushi in Japan, this place could impress you (OK, you can call me a sushi snob, but I’m really not that picky, as long as it’s fresh and resembles the original).

Service was very slow, 2 tables sat down way after we did and they got their food first and it took forever for ours to come out. Also they were taking many Uber eats and door dash orders and leaving us sitting waiting for over 40 minutes to get our food. At least they apologized at the end. Food was alright and not that special

Salad was served to us in a plastic to go container with a bowl to put it in ourselves even though we were dining in. The salad dressing was tasteless and bad. Edamame was served cold with no additional seasoning like they just took it out of the package. Sushi rolls tasted good but were not presented well - falling apart on the plate and in various sizes. Great location for those at Stanford Hospital since there is no good Japanese food there but not a great experience.
