Service is great and the workers are exceptionally nice. Great place to grab the delicious half-priced shakes. If you order small and get stuck behind people the workers will bring your food to you so you don't have to wait.

I absolutely love the food here, currently they're only three locations within my area. And all seem to be 30 minutes away from where I currently live. So when I get a chance to go to a sonics I relish the opportunity. Their tater tots and hot dogs are far above the rest compared to all other fast food restaurants. Their drinks are absolutely delicious and their employees are always so nice and I love seeing them on the roller skates it just harkens back to a simpler time

On July 4th I ordered on the app and picked up my food. When I hit home I saw they forgot my chicken strips. I called and they said I could come back but that wasn’t possible. They put my name in a book and told me to let them know next time I order. Today the order was made right and the young lady at the window was a friendly as can be. I’ve never had an issue at this location before and they made it right today!! Thank you! I wish the owner would spruce the place up though. It’s really in need of some TLC.

We go here probably 5-6 times per year, when the weather is warm. The service has always been great, never had an order wrong. The servers have all been nice and on top of things. I'd rate the burgers as being better than all the other fast food options in the area. The jalapeno poppers with ranch dip is a must order for us every time. Love the cranberry limeades, too. Half prices shakes later in the evenings are totally worth the price. One downside is the drive-thru line can get long. Might as well pull into a spot and order from the board rather than sit in line. Used the drive-thru only once, wouldn't do it again.

This Sonic has the friendliest staff. I wish there were more healthy options there, but 8 like the grilled chicken sandwich. When I'm looking for a little treat for myself I get a kid size banana milkshake and it's just heaven! My daughter is a big fan of their mozzarella sticks.

We don't eat fast food often these days, but sonic seems to be our go too these days on the rare occasion we do. Food is always super fresh and tastes great. Hell of a lot better than the other fast food chains around here. My wife loves the garlic butter burger. I always get the double bacon cheese burger.

Great place to go with your friends or grab some late night food. There can be a pretty long wait if you catch it at a bad time. The deal on their hot wings is fantastic.

Of all the fast food choices, Sonic has the most variety. Burgers (of course), but also hot dogs, popcorn chicken, onion rings, chicken wings and the drinks and shakes are unsurpassed. Definitely an underrated but worthy choice when you are in the mood for fast food

Fresh fast good an easy. Just stay in your car and the order is delivered to you on roller skates. They also have outside tables but no inside dining only drive-thru or parked car delivery.

everything tasted good. my chicago dog had no poppy seeds and the pickles were over large. our meal came out hot though. and service was good.

First time experience. The hamburger I got was really good. They messed up on the size of my drink but promptly adjusted the price to that of the smaller size I had ordered.

I was a passenger in car, associate was nice in Middletown.. My daughter loves Sonic like I use too. Had a bad experience at the one in Elizabeth, watching worker use her bare hand putting ice cream in cup that spilled over the side. I wrote the company and never received a response. I went to sonic a few times a week in past and it's been over a year since the incident and protesting since.

It's a Sonic. Good food that is better than other fast food places. Fast and courteous service. Great slushes. My honey boneless chicken bites were great. Tots were a bit too salty, had to finger dust the salt off. GF's chicken strips and tots and toast were good, but again the tots were too salty. The onion rings were mixed, some were perfectly battered others weren't, but they still tasted good. Corn dog was good. Cinnabites were awesome. They were out of chocolate chip ice cream sandwiches, the oreo version tastes like a normal icecream sandwich you can buy at any deli and is something not worth getting.

Typically good service. I like that they have hot dogs and other things that other fast food places don't have. One down side is that they removed the only healthy option, salad.

The food is generally good here and at a decent price. In terms of food quality, I'd rate it a little higher than McDonalds or Burger King, and about on par with Wendy's. What makes it frustrating to visit this location, is that order accuracy has always been a problem, and continues to be a problem. If you happen to be OK with a burger or dog having "the works" you will do Ok. But if you want everything except this or that, it is almost certain to be wrong. While we have been pleased with the way errors are handled, we don't like to see food wastesd and have our time wasted, so the result is we just don't go there very often anymore. And yes, there was an error on the order on this specific visit.

I like Sonic, my son likes Sonic. This Sonic was a little less than others I have been to. I can't say exactly why, but I just didn't like it as much. The people were really friendly, but the food wasn't as good, I had to leave to goto tractor Supply because my 7 year old had to use the restroom and they have them locked. Of course we are in the middle of a Pandemic, so take this with a grain of salt. It is possible that this is affecting the experience here. Although I have been to 2 others during this whole thing and did not feel this way.

Not much to say. Food was good. Establishment was clean, the employees were courteous. I got the chili cheese footlong hot dog with tater tots. My son got the chicken tenders which were a little dry and they forgot the dipping sauce.

Experience was good, staff was friendly and very quick to provide food, even though it did seem like things were on the busier side. We had chicken sandwiches and fries, the sandwiches were pretty tasty and the fries were average. It's a good place to stop for a quick, "fast food" style, meal.

Staff was quick and the food was hot but there was no drive in option. Many of the stalls were falling apart. It definitely needs some repairs. We had two medium combos with sodas and a side of onion rings and it was $30. The fast food prices around here are just getting crazy.

Breakfast burrito was edible, but very dry, and alot smaller than I've had previously. Tator tots are ALWAYS cold. Coffee was very good. Good value, better than Wawa and QuickChek, but food and temperature are sub-par.

The food and service was alright. I really do miss Melody the car hop. She always made my day better when I saw her skating with my burgers. If you're reading this Melody, you skated your way into my heart.

Had an urge for a hot dog, but not everyone likes hot dogs, and Sonic gives a variety of food choices, so everyone is happy. Unfortunately, they no longer have family size tater for all to share. They did however mess up the order, but it was eventually corrected.

Well I've never ordered actual food at this specific location being I never really liked Sonic food but as for the shakes they are the best! Best time is after 8 pm when they become half price. Being we only order shakes we have only experienced the drive thru at the Middletown Sonic. Most of the time it can be quite time consuming considering it's a fast food joint you wouldn't think it'll take that long but it happens. The reason I refuse to give them more stars has something to do with the unfriendly customer service. Most of the girls or younger kids seem really nice but there's a few guys there my fiancé and I didn't really get a good vibe from. They are either inconsiderate or come off like they hate the world, not someone you'd really trust handling your food and beverages.

They always get 5 stars but they refuse to fix the soft serve machine so you can't buy Blasts only milkshakes. Service is great food is great I just want a f#cken Reese's pieces Blast with my food

Sonic is in a weird place for me because I would rather have their drinks and sides than their mains courses. The mixed drinks like the strawberry limeade are excellent refreshers for a hot day but the mediocre hot dogs and flavorless, mushy burgers leave a lot to be desired.

This is literally my only haven in the dark hours of the early morning when I have stayed up far too late for my own health and sanity. SO normally, it is a very successful source of sugar and energy from delicious milkshakes. UNFORTUNATELY, ON TODAY, October 4, at approximately 3:30 AM, nobody was there. The radio was on. The register was on. Nobody was at work. No cars in the lot. Nothing. SOMEONE skipped out on their shift, or the hours on this site are wrong. But I would still return again, ever hopeful the next time I am about to collapse in need of delicious and cold ice cream based beverages.

Eh, I normally like sonic but something about this location just keeps me away. I got the chili cheese hotdog and wings, and it just came out bad. The wings were dry, almost all breading and no meat, and absolutely drowning in sauce..felt like I was eating straight bbq sauce on a slice of toast, gross. The hotdog was okay but they put almost no chili or cheese.

At the drive-in, the people who deliver your food walk to your car, rather than roller skate. It's not a big deal, but that gimmick is what made Sonic unique, so it is kind of dissapointing to see that gone. The drive-thru is terrible. They give you the wrong food, forget your orders, or give you half of your order.

I ordered the smashburger and it was salty we go every Monday and get the 99 cent slushie the last Monday we went it was a guy there who said he was the money guy and he refused to get it to me so I asked to speak to the owner when he said the owner was there and I had pulled it up on my phone where they had the 99 cent but the owner acted like he was doing me a favor for giving it to me for that price. Haven't been back

Awkward carhop service- just kind of stood there and stared at me as though waiting for a tip, even though I had already said to keep the change thus leaving $7 on a $15 order...burger came out fast but was lukewarm and falling apart, which is surprising because any time I've gone through the drive thru everything has been piping hot. Maybe it was just an off day. I'll most likely go back and give them another shot since my kids love the corn dogs.

Boneless chicken wings are good. Didn't receive burger because they had problems with the grill. Was told no way to give credit because the order was placed on the Sonic app. Deleted the app!

Update 3/2/2024: The food seems to be still good! However, workers can be either rude or kind. Also, more than one occasion have I dealt with them not having items or services available. I highly suggest getting on top of your technical problems. Excellent service! Delicious Reese's Sonic Blasts and their hot dogs are on the top of the fast food game!

This spot used to be awesome, but it's run down and dirty looking now. Seems like the pandemic really hurt them. The old school skating service was once really cool. Now, it's just drive through. Still love their "Sonic Blast" ice cream sundae though.

First of all, it was about 11pm with 3 of us in line. We waited super long to get our orders and I have no idea. No one had any crazy amount of huge bags coming across the window. I got the cheesesteak but it wasn’t cheese-steaking. Tasted like there was less cheese then I’m use to tasting. I got the cherry limeade and it wasn’t cherrying like that either. I felt like it needed more cherry and I never felt like that when eating at northern Sonics which where I am from. I felt like this was diet Sonic and nobody told me… I traveled out my way for this… LOL not again…

Wouldn't recommend ordering delivery from here, manager wants door dashers to sit in a drive through line behind people ordering. Pull in kiosks were unavailable for use as well.

Went around dinner time, but for some reason stalls were closed so I was directed to go through drive thur. The food was good, but I ordered a large Oreo sonic blast, that only had Oreos on the top. So when I was in parking lot eating it, I got through a few bites and decided that the non existence of Oreos was enough to go back in drive thur, I asked for some more Oreos but was told no because I had already started it. UPDATE: I was quickly contacted by support who wanted to make it right with me. I appreciate good customer support. 2nd Review: came back here and worse than first time. Stalls were closed and walk up stall also closed, only way to order was drive thru. Only 3 cars in front but 20 minutes of waiting to once again get an Oreo blast with very few Oreos. Please fix this location.

Always having a problem with their walk up machine. Few days ago it was the card system not working another time the screens weren't working and then today 11/9/2025 at 11:30 they told me they are only serving drive thru customers. I work close by and makes no sense for me to waste the gas for a 30 second drive and a minute and a half walk.

Middletown Sonic is a Joke (and not a funny one) save your hard earned $$ and go somewhere else. Drive thru got our order wrong and by the time you figure it out and say anything they blame you instead, no apologies no "let me get that fixed" just straight up attitude. Can you say great customer service? (Please note the side of sarcasm) I will never return.

Spent $35 here for lunch. Sonic is good. There food is good we all know it. But i’m 5 months pregnant so when i asked to ask to bathroom waiting for food I didn’t expect to be shut down. I get covid- but if your pregnant your super high risk cannot be exposed and take extra precautions. Working in customer service sales etc there are some exceptions and honestly that wasn’t cool.

Sonic is known for the drive-in. They refused to serve us. Only option was drive thru. Messed up the order. The burger was also a mess. Overall lazy, and unprofessional.

My wife and I have ordered food and never received the correct item. We have tried the drive through and the single stations. Still the same. This morning I went to the drive through and no one was available! This was 8:45 am at the Middletown location. What time do they open for breakfast?

Not worth the hype! Go somewhere else. Greasy, messy, just bad. Chicken sandwich was dry and overcooked, frys were cold. Cheeseburger was a sloppy, warm mess 5 onion rings for 2.89 were tasty but too overpriced.

Multiple issues with my order I placed on the app. Missing a popcorn chicken, ordered a double cheeseburger, got a single, no sauces-for our tenders and pretzel, even the geolocation wouldn’t let me check in. If it weren’t for their shakes, we’d never go back ( shake machine was down too, btw)

Horrible service. Cannot rate the food as my child was refused service. My son wanted to go for lunch with a group of friends from camp, the counselor, who is an adult , was rudely told to not even bring them in as they will not serve a group. He explained it wasn’t an event just some of the kids that wanted to go for lunch and was again told to not even go. Another counselor went on his own for his lunch and the worker saw his shirt and got nasty with him, telling him if they see a group of kids wearing the same shirt they will be refused service Guess Sonic doesn’t need or want business.

Worst experience never coming back! Lazy employees, drive thru only, bathrooms closed because of the COVID-19 pandemic in November 2023. Don’t know how customers keep coming back - wires are sticking out of the signs making the place look run down. Food is lousy and slow service. Employees lack customer service skills and don’t show me a reason to come back.

I always go to this sonic in the past it was really good. Recently it is horrible! They over cook the food , to salty, and the never give me my sauces. When I order my tenders or fries I am asked what sauces I want. They never give me my sauces. I can remind them every single time. I still don't get it. They are always touching their faces while serving food during this covid, their hair is all over the place with no hair nets or brushed back. It is disgusting and disappointing to see how drastic this sonic has changed. I hope that things will get better. Being that we are loyal customers. But this is getting worse by each visit. We stopped going to Wendy's because of public hairs in the food. We stopped going to McDonald's because of their gross manners. We have high hopes that Sonic will improve.

I had a sonic gift card never used. After ordering I pulled up gave my gift card and young lady came back and said it wouldn’t go thru could be their machine not working or no balance. I pulled off and immediately called the number on the back of the gift card and it said my balance was still $25, I’m disappointed they would not take my sonic gift card for whatever reason, I drove 20 miles to visit the Middletown sonic. What a waste of time. I didn’t go bsck because what’s the use they just say the card doesn’t work. I’m thinking the young lady just didn’t know how to use the gift card. It was new and not damaged.

Staff was too busy playing around and chatting to get my order right. Maybe next time I go will be during midday instead of after 5 when the staff is playful and not focused on customer service...I was not satisfied at all, my food was cold and completely wrong from what I ordered thru the APP. I didn't bother to go back since they got it wrong the first time.

Absolutely awful. Got a medium Oreo sonic blast had only one Oreo in it. I asked for some extra Oreo, green hair girl rolls her eyes and gets the manager. Manager tried charging me extra for more Oreos and said it was the required for a medium. One Oreo is not the required amount. Bad service over all. Both the employee and manager rolled thier eyes.

Late night $34 order, got home and $11 worth of food missing. After 4 unanswered phone calls I got through and explained to the person what was missing, she offered a refund only if we returned that same evening. I guess that's fast food for you.

After confirming we wanted plain burgers..just the burger and the bun, we received two cheeseburgers with everything on them. Pulled back through the drive thru and waited 20 minutes in line. Finally gave up and asked for a refund which took another 5 minutes. Just listen, and double check what's going in the bag. Simple, simple simple. Oh, also forgot our marinara sauce!

Went to the Sonic in Middletown, NY. they have two drive thru lanes. Person in other lane placed order and pulled up. Woman working drive thru welcomes me to Sonic and says she will be right with me. I wait 10 minutes and nothing. A car pulls into the other lane and they help that person. I say the heck with this and leave without ordering. As I drive out the person who was in the other lane when I got there was still at the window. Mind you there was no one in the drive thru prior to that. Didn't get any food because service was non-existent.

Ordered a jr cheese burger plain, sonic cheeseburger plain with pickles and large fries and a vanilla ice cream. I got a disgusting jr cheeseburger with everything on it and it was swimming in ketchup and mustard !! Disgusting. The fries were SOAKED in grease and Salt! Disgusting! 9/17/2024. Oh and they gave me the ice cream first and then had me wait for the plain burgers and watch the ice cream melt! Brilliant employees and manager! A total waste of $15.00!

I am very upset with how this sonic handled my doordash order, they selected that one of my items was out of stock and i’d be getting a refund. i was perfectly ok with that but then after over an hour of waiting i asked my dasher what was happening, he told me they needed me to call them but when i tried it instantly said the number was out of service. they didn’t cancel my order, try to contact me, or do anything about it, very upset

If I could give 0 stars I would, I ordered my food and when it was time to pay the girl came outside with my food and I handed her my phone for Apple Pay then she proceeds to say we don’t take Apple Pay which is untrue because on all platforms sonic states they take Apple Pay and I’ve used Apple Pay there before multiple times. She then tells me I’m out of luck and she’s just gonna cancel the order. Do not go to this location

i ordered doordash , and i was assigned 5 different drivers for sonic to tell the final driver they dont have the order. then when doordash called them they said they did recieve the order but they were out of stock. $31 later, no food. nothing. i called the store just now and asked them individually everything i ordered through doordash and they asked if it was in stock and if they were able to make it and what did they tell me ? YES THEY DO HAVE IT. so why are you telling doordash you’re out of stock? WORST SERVICE EVER. YOU GUYS SHOULD JUST CLOSE DOWN ALREADY CONSIDERING THERE ARE OTHER REVIEWS THAT SAY THE SAME THING. WORST COMPANY EVER. you should be ashamed of your staff, and if management is reading this you should definitely hire a completely new crew. they are losing you guys money. Will NEVER order here again.

We stopped for a quick bit yesterday. Tater tots with cheese were cold. Cheese looked and tasted like plastic. My husband got a hot dog. He only ate half. But his tater tots were like warm. Most likely never going back again.

I drove there with my son to order from the drive through. I went there at 7:50pm on a Saturday. It says they are open until 12am. Online ordering wasn't available but it said they were open. I get there and 90% of the drive throughs are busted and turned off. I pull into one that's on, hit the button, sat for 15 minutes and nobody responded. I backed out and drove past the place. All lights were on with nobody in site. I drive away pissed off. This place gives a real Freddy Fazvear vibe.

Usually don’t do posts like this but annoyed with multiple bad experiences with this place. A few months ago I had a shake from here that tasted like they used expired dairy. And today, I’ve gone at a time they’re listed as open and been turned away while at the carhop. When I hit the button, an employee came on and very quietly said sorry we’re closed. Then immediately hung up. I still have no idea when they’re actually open since all the online resources said they should’ve been open all day today

I used to get food here all the time. The last few years though... it has been nothing but a mass decline. Especially when ordering through door dash with the insane hike on the prices, and having to order so many things seperate instead of as a meal. It's bad enough that the driver would just leave the food on the porch in 39 degree weather and NOT notify us, but the food itself its just extremely poor quality compared to what it used to be. Also how much of a clown do you have to be to put the 4 slushies in 2 sperate trays, and have 1 bag of the food pressed against them in each tray getting ice cold?! Not to mention the fact that you cant even use the drive in booths anymore. It's drive through window or bust. It's sonic!, The whole point of going there is to drive into a drive in booth, and eat in the car. Not wait in a line of 15 people for half an hour just to order! Never ordering from here again.

Every single interaction with had with the two girls working were nasty, rude, unfriendly, unprofessional, and overall a bad experience I don’t wish on anyone. Not sure if they are like this every night but someone should really check for a stick up their butts. With every question we asked them we received a passive agressive and rude response. Not sure if their lives are simply that miserable but they should certainly not be making it the customers issue. Everyone in the car currently work in customer service or face to face with people and the attitude and representation they displayed for the business and company as a whole was simply deplorable. This was not an issue with our car, we saw them interacting in a military manner with the two other cars in front of us. I really hope they get their attitudes fixed soon.

I rarely share reviews but this Sonic is unbelievably incompetent when it comes to getting a DoorDash order right. Neglecting to include items you order is business as usual for this place. After YEARS of not ordering from them due to the above reasons we decided to give it another try tonight. After one missing hot dog and order of cheese fries later I swore, never again. I’m done with these inept clowns.

I’ve visited multiple Sonic locations and never had a problem, but this Middletown location has consistently failed to deliver. Every time we pull up to the kiosk to place an order, we’re told, ‘Only drive-thru.’ A few months ago, we went through the drive-thru as instructed, only to watch other customers get served right at the kiosk. Today, same scenario: we parked at the kiosk, and an employee told us, yet again, ‘Drive-thru only.’ To top it off, one of the employees was sitting outside eating. At 3 p.m. on a Thursday, the place was practically empty – no reason they couldn’t bring out our order. I’m not asking for roller skates or extra service; I just want my food delivered to my car, the way Sonic’s model promises. If this location is going to refuse kiosk service, they should just close them down rather than mislead customers and waste our time. I’ve never had this issue at other Sonics. It’s frustrating that this Middletown location just can’t get it right

On Sunday 10/27 approximately 8-9pm evening hours I order my usual #1 (NO MAYO) meal and was told by the females that were taking the order that they could not accommodate me that it would be difficult to take off the Mayo from the burger. This is ridiculous! What kind of customer service is this!? I order this meal all the time what seemed to be the problem on this day? It seems to me just a bunch of laid back laziness in my opinion. It was a waste of time and gas getting there what a disappointment!

DO NOT COME HERE. Was served raw chicken for a kids meal and in return for food poisoning I was offered a free meal… not my money back but a future free meal. A pictures worth a thousand words. Will not be back.
