A pleasant and unforgettable culinary experience at affordable prices. One is virtually transported into an “Old Country” Italian restaurant from the moment one walks into their spacious and well decorated dining room. The wait staff is attentive, knowledgeable, and courteous and the wine selection is impressive. The Formaggi Assorti is an excellent way to start the dining experience. On Sundays they feature their famous and delicious non-menu item “Sunday Cream” which is a mix of three meats with Pasta. Whether one just want to relax at the bar enjoying a good conversation while enjoying a glass or wine and some appetizers or having a memorable full meal at the restaurant, Undici is the place for you. An evening there will definitively leave one wishing to take a trip to Tuscany.
I've been coming here for years for lunch and dinner and it has become such a staple for our nuclear and extended family. I have always been in love with their fantastic wine list, caesar salad, pasta and their pork chop (its actually making me hungry right now lol) that any occasion is the right time to go to Undici.
Such a great place. Food, ambience, service are always at the highest level. We’ve been here many times over the years and it never disappoints!
Took my wife here for Valentine's and it was the best decision ever. Food and service was great. I had the short ribs and risotto, my wife had the stuffed chicken breast with ricotta cheese/spinach, side of roasted potatoes. For appetizer, the crostini (highly recommend). Unfortunately they were out of the grilled octopus, but the experience made up for it. Will definitely come back to try the other dishes.
Great menu! Food was extremely tasty and perfectly prepared. Went two nights in a row. We had to go back after trying the meat and cheese board and the pulpo. The second night we had their slow cooked bolognese with beef pork and veal…..Delicious!!!! Also tried the salmon which was out of this world. As for desert, I highly recommend the napoleon and the chocolate tort. You won’t be sorry
Beautiful place, delicious meal, amazing service. My wife & I can't thank you enough for making our anniversary so special. 🥂
Love this place! Excellent food and rustic vibe. Great sitting at the table or at the bar. Amazing bolognese sauce (pictured here)
I would have taken more photos but I was too busy devouring my amazing meal. From start (grilled octopus) to finish (Napoleon), it was magnificent. The texture of the pasta was absolutely perfect. The frozen rose? Awesome. Also thrilled they ID’d my son (we were celebrating his 21st and he was frustrated that he hadn’t been proofed yet) so thank you for your diligence on that! Could not recommend more enthusiastically.
Incredible food & drinks! Frosé is a must! Pork was cooked to perfection. Great place for a date night!
Dining in Italy without leaving New Jersey! We love Undici! The beautiful decor and vibe of an Italian Villa, fabulous dishes that are beautifully plated, different and delicious! The staff is attentive and wonderful, you are their valued guests and treated as such. Alejandro was our server Christmas Eve and made it extra special for us. My only regret is I didn’t take a photo of Mafaldine Lemone! I will next time. 😍 Oh don’t forget to relax by the fireplace on the way out. Italian heaven!
We had a wonderful experience dining last evening at the newly renovated and reimagined Undici! The atmosphere quite literally transports you to Italy, the food was delish, and the service was excellent. Our waitress, Amanda, was lovely and Kelly, the manager, was very sweet - she gave us a pistachio gelato on the house! Def recommend checking out all of the new updates from the atmosphere to the menu...we will be back :)
Absolutely phenomenal! This Italian gem is a must-visit. From the moment you arrive, the ambiance sweeps you away — especially the stunning outdoor dining area, which feels like a tucked-away escape in the heart of Italy. The fresh pasta is beyond compare — silky, perfectly cooked, and paired with sauces that taste like they’ve been simmering in a family kitchen all day. The specials are where the chef really shines — creative, seasonal, and always bursting with flavor. You can tell everything is made with love and the freshest ingredients. And don’t even think about skipping dessert — the stuff of dreams. Service is warm and attentive without being overbearing. Every visit feels special. Whether you’re out for a romantic dinner or a laid-back night with friends, this place never disappoints. Five stars all the way!
What a fantastic surprise! The food at Undici was next-level, but what really blew my mind? The martini. I’m a die-hard martini drinker, and I’ve had plenty—but this one? Easily one of the best I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and that jalapeño-stuffed olive? Game changer. It packed just the right amount of kick to make the whole thing sing. Then came the Caesar salad—with fried capers. Yes, fried capers! Crispy, salty little flavor bombs that totally elevated the dish. Honestly, they should sell them by the bowl as a snack. I’d order two. The vibe? Super chill and inviting. Our waiter, Alejandro, was spot-on—attentive and friendly—and the whole experience felt really thoughtful and well-paced. Quick heads-up for fellow locals: The hostess stand is tucked away at the rear entrance, which is... quirky. If you come through the front door, you’ll end up standing there awkwardly, wondering if you’re in the wrong place. During our Saturday lunch, the hostess wasn’t exactly bubbling with energy—but hey, we all have off days. Bottom line: don’t let that small hiccup stop you. The food, the drinks, the vibe—totally worth it. Sit inside or out, order something adventurous, and let this spot surprise you. I don’t think you’ll regret it for a second.
A thoroughly enjoyable experience from start to finish, especially the service and interior decor and atmosphere.
Very good all around, the homemade pastas were nice. Service very good too and nice outdoor seating ambiance.
Went to dinner last night to celebrate a special occasion. Undici, like always, did not disappoint. We had a wonderful server (I wish I remembered her name) who recommended I try the Pinot noir. The board was great. The soft cheese (I’m guessing it was Gorgonzola) was incredible, and the prosciutto was divine. The maraschino cherries were a bit out of place for the dish. For my entree I had the gnocchi with wild boar ragu. It was my favorite part of the night. The meat was gamey, but not in a bad way. It really made the dish. The gnocchi wasn’t shaped like I thought it would be, but it was still great. It held the sauce very well. The Pinot noir tasted great with it. For dessert I got a biscotti caffe and hazelnut gelato. The caffe and gelato really complimented each other well. Everyone in my party raved about the gelato. The only downside to the evening was that we reserved a table upstairs, but we were seated downstairs. The acoustics downstairs aren’t great and I could barely hear anyone in my party. I don’t want to deduct a star for that though, as the food and service were incredible. Can’t wait for my next Undici trip.
Celebrated a birthday and 100% enjoyed ourselves. We sat outside and had perfect service. The day's special of soft shell crabs was excellent and E eryone enjoyed their orders. Highly. Recommend this already very popular spot! Lol
We had reservations for 4:15 and were seated promptly upon arrival. The waitress was fantastic. Barcode app is required for a menu. We started off with the crostini which was amazing. My husband had short ribs w/ risotto and I had the stuffed chicken breast w/spaghetti. We also ordered the roasted potatoes. Everything amazing. Highly recommend.
Holy canoli (sorry for the corny but…) really solid pizza place amongst some excellent Long Island pizza places. Super cute place super nice staff and wow delicious thin crispy crust. They have like ten different styles. Did mention delicious. Also got to love an owner that I gave a compliment to and he gave me two slices of “upside down “ Sicilian!
Went to this restaurant Sat night. Place was crowded and our table was ready on time. The service was amazing. Had drinks before Apps that were also great. The burrata pizza is awesome. Both our dinners were hot and delicious. Great place 👍 Went back again and place was amazing. Party of 4. I had the rabbit special that night was delicious & hot when came to the table. All Apps , drinks & dinner outstanding.
My friend and I went here for a girl's night dinner. It was so good! The restaurant is right after you come off the bridge down in Rumson past Salt Creek Grille. There's ample parking on the street and there's back parking. Note the hostess is the back of the restaurant if you come in from the front. It had a great ambiance and everything was so fresh and delicious. Can't wait to go back again!!
We enjoyed the most delicious meal recently at Undici. This is one of our favorite restaurants, and don’t mind the 40 minute drive to get there. Our server Oliver was knowledgeable and had wonderful suggestions for wine pairings. The Arancini appetizer was perfect , as was the bolongnese , and the seafood risotto. The atmosphere and food brought us back to our recent Italy vacation !
This is my updated review! been going to the place for a really long time. never but the best. apparently they change the chef and got a Michelin star guy. to be clear the food wasn't bad! but the old menu and food was just amazing and so welcoming full of charm, just the place you want to end the day at with friends and family. i am sad to say that the menu made the place feel like any other place. i hope you will consider reviewing the menu and options to your guests. fancy doesn't mean good unfortunately . the service and ambiance are still amazing !!!!
The food was outstanding, the service was excellent, and the ingredients were incredibly fresh. The flavors were off the charts, and the entire experience made me feel right at home.
My wife and I celebrated her birthday, our dinning experience was excellent. Our server was very attentive and courteous, the menu was outstanding.
We had such a great experience! Our waiter Greg was amazing-super attentive, patient, and happy to answer the million questions we had. Even though we had a late reservation and were the last table there, we never once felt rushed! The food 10/10. The pasta dishes were incredible, and the appetizers were even better. Everything was delicious from start to finish. We cant wait to come back!
Our first time at Undici was truly a fantastic meal! Love the cozy atmosphere and great service. The focaccia topped with prosciutto was a winner! Everything was made to perfection. We will be back for sure!
My wife and I Have always had an Excellent Meal at Undici. Last Sunday was no exception The pork chop was outstanding and they got it right with ice cold beer and a frosted glass. Our server, Oliver Was responsive with a great sense of humor. This is one of our go to restaurants
We enjoyed an amazing dinner at Undici. The service, staff, atmosphere, cocktails and food were A++. Our next visit we may try eating in the bar area as it was also very inviting. This is a great place for couples or families or even if you feel like dinning alone. We will be back.
The food, service, and atmosphere is all absolutely spot on. If you're a wine lover, this place is a must try, to say their list is amazing is an understatement. The pasta is always very good, as is the pork chop, and I love the veal chop (when they have it). The rice balls are also a must get. Prices here are definitely at a premium, so we usually save Undici for special occasions. You're milage may vary.
Food and service are just ok. The atmosphere is very cozy and the drinks were great! They make a mean old fashioned and have a solid wine program. The menu is not very exciting. We had the cacio e pepe salad, mafaldine with ragu, mushroom fettuccine and bucatini amatriciana. Food is mediocre and I had to ask for our water glasses to be refilled.
A hidden gem down by the shore for all you Italian wine & food lovers. The service was very nice & the food was delicious. A sommelier is available to assist navigate the large wine selection. The bar is also great for a drink. Next time we will have to try a pizza. Cheers & Enjoy!
Glad to finally get out and enjoy a good dinner and this place definitely delivers. The grilled calamari appetizer tasted just like lobster meat. The entree Chicken Ripieno was excellent. Stuffed with ricotta and spinach ,with a side of homemade rigatoni, definitely worth it. All enjoyed with a gin and tonic.
They recently changed their chef and menu. The place still looks amazing and servers are top notch. Mixed reviews on the food. The mortadela appetizer was slices with 2 small pieces of bread. I guess the menu was confusing because we thought it was going to be in a flatbread. The fish dinner was excellent and the porkchop dinner was ok. Good cut of meat but flavor was lacking a bit for me. It was good though. They no longer have pizzas which were a huge reason we went there often and they changed the pistachio Gelato, it now has crumbs of cookies or gram crackers in it. I don't order that anymore.
Nice atmosphere and attentive service. The food was enjoyable overall, though the pricing felt high for the quality compared to other good restaurants in the area. The affogato (gelato and espresso) was $16 for a very small serving, and the $22 cocktails were served in quite small glasses and didn’t quite live up to expectations. It’s a nice spot, but at this price point, the overall value felt stronger elsewhere.
Livornase - not good, don’t order this. Cacio y Pepe salad - overall just good, tasted like Caesar salad. Eggplant parmigiana ravioli - good, but it needed more flavor. Corn - Amazing! Nutella pizza dessert - phenomenal!
Food was great, but severely overpriced. I guess that's what comes with the area. The service was great. Compliments to our server, Pedro. To start, there is parking out front across the street and also behind the restaurant. You meet the hostess thru the back door. Very cool atmosphere. You arrive to your table and are soon given one half slice of bread per person, with a dish of high quality extra virgin olive oil. We ordered the La Forza cocktail and a beer. The cocktail was delicious, and the beer is a local favorite of mine. The drink selection was outstanding. For appetizers, we started with the rice balls (Arincini) and the grilled octopus (Polpo). Three cheesey, crispy rice balls arrived in a bed of red sauce. Quite good, but nothing special. For the size, certainly not worth the price. The octopus came one leg, cooked to perfection. It had a nice kick to it. It came with a few frisee lettuce leaves and a small scoop of "rustic avocado", which was a very salty guacamole. Some pistachios and one spicy pepper. Overpriced, again. For dinner, we got the bolegnese and the pork chop, as well as a side of the hot peppers. Both dishes were delicious. But still, the amount of food for the price were both a little ridiculous. We ended with a regular coffee and a double shot of.espresso--no dessert. In our many years of dining together as a couple, this has been out most expensive meal out, and we didnt even get anything that extravagent (one pork chop and one pasta dish). Don't get me wrong, the food was good, but it wasn't in our top 10. Would not return. For the price, I'll try other options.
I have been coming here for years and I rarely write negative reviews, but this past Sunday warrants some criticism. A few Bad mussels on a risotto dish, a bone in a salmon fillet, a very outdated monkfish preparation which was a $40+ “special” and overly salty. Who flours fish anymore before sautéing? Pizza was good, but not enough heat on the bottom—-soggy crust. Chicken scarpariello was not even close. In general plating was lackluster and tired. Pastas were just OK and thats being nice. The facility is an absolute a+, but the food did not match. I will say our server was excellent, but his back waiters rushed the pacing. Entrees came out on top of first courses. All that for $450 for 4 adults and 3 kids with no booze.
It pains me to write a bad review for this place. But when your favorite restaurant and go to spot completely makes a 180 without any other line of communication I have to. This was one of NJs best Italian restaurants. For whatever reason they lose the chef, the head maître d’, change the menu, change the look to authentic but cheesy positano plates on wall. DONT FIX WHAT ISNT BROKE. the food is sub par now, you charge for extra bread? Really? It’s sad how many parties we had here and nights out and it’ll never be the same. Plz find a way to go back to what it was. Idk how you don’t have the bolognese that everyone came for. It’s horrible now. And no pizza? Plz find a way!!! Plz!!!
Food, Service and atmosphere are excellent. However, don’t buy wine by the glass as they give you a really small pour for a significant price. They claim it is 5 oz but you’re lucky if it is 3 oz. The wine selection is excellent but whatever you do, don’t buy wine by the glass or you will get completely hosed. I think it might be time to notify the news channels so they can make people aware of price gouging. You get a better pour of wine at other restaurants w similar wine selection but no price gouging.
Food was very good but way overpriced. We asked for more bread with three olives. They charge $10. We ordered pork chops and you have to pay $17 for a side. 🤨
I agree with the previous reviewer and everything she said with this place’s chef service and menu. I had not been back to this restaurant for a decade or so and had heard good things about this “chef“ and because I loved Birravino I figured I would give it a try for my birthday. The servers were fantastic, the true saving grace of the restaurant. The food was really, really lackluster for the price. Birravino is so much better on so many levels. It’s almost like they are charging a premium because they can, not because it’s worth it. Save your money truthfully. There are few establishments at the Jersey Shore worth this price tag. There’s a reason there’s no Michelin stars here, so we shouldn’t be paying Michelin prices. Also agree about leaving hungry. The portions are not as large as Birravino either.
The renovations and the new chef have ruined this place and it pains me to write a bad review as I've been coming to undici for almost seven years. Countless anniversaries, graduations, birthdays, special events, and even just weekends wanting a good meal. No bread person? Having to ASK for cheese on my pasta? I have never in seven years finished a plate of food at this place but tonight I left hungry after an appetizer and entree. Extremely disappointed in all aspects of this renovation and were it not for our lovely server I'd have probably left this place in angrier than I actually am. The staff have always been the saving grace of this place, specifically an old manager who apparently does not work here anymore, but unfortunately the small, new menu, the lackluster food and the "Michelin star" chef have run this place into the ground. This place is not the place it used to be and it will definitely still be busy as it now caters to a very different audience. Anyone who's been a longtime enjoyer of undici will feel the same. By no means was the food horrible, but for that price please do yourself a favor and go to Birravino instead. RIP Undici 💔
Ate here in mid December Not sure what exactly was renovated here physically cause it looks almost the same as before to me. What has changed is the personnel and the menu. As with everything else prices have increased - to the point of insulting. As others have mentioned in reviews, the wine pour is less than half a glass and yet is priced at $18-22. You have to think twice about a second. We were offered ‘bread service’ which was a choice of 3 styles of bread and we chose the focaccia- a thin pizza like flatbread with a drizzle of oil and garlic seasoning. Unbeknownst to me, bread service is NOT a lovely extra to enhance our dining experience but showed up as a charge on our bill for $24. Yes you read that right. $24 for our ‘bread service’. apparently this is a thing now along with credit card surcharges (3%here) so beware. Pizza is no longer offered here nor is a Caesar salad btw. Tagliatelle bolognese with very little meat- $36. Extremely cheesy (and salty) and kept getting offered even more cheese to put on it! Yikes. I’ve been to Italy many times and this is not authentic Italian cooking. It is Italian American cooking. If you like that, this is the place for you. Was not an enjoyable dining experience for us. We will spend our money where we don’t feel gouged at every turn…
I’m sitting here writing this review after waiting 1.5 hours for our dinner still hungry help. Update. We waited and waited. Got sat 15 minutes after our reservation time. The waiter said we have to put in our food all at once we did at 7:45. By 9:05 after only appetizers had come we were actually starving and we had asked maybe 3 times if we we’re getting our food. They said we’re next, 20 minutes later we still were waiting. We just left. It was utterly ridiculous. We were having a lowkey engagement celebration and yeah it’s hard to celebrate when everyone is starving. We’ve been before this and to other restaurants of this group and each time it’s been worse and worse. DO NOT GO UNLESS YOU HAVE 4 HOURS TO SPARE FOR DINNER.
This is the most poorly managed restaurant I have ever been. We had reservations for 7:30 and showed up two minutes early and were told our table needed a few more minutes to be cleared. We got a drink by the bar and waited 10 minutes to be seated. Once seated we were instructed to put our entire order in at once as the kitchen was backed up. We received our appetizers but after an hour and a half we never received our food. We had asked several people and simply received an apology and that our food was next. After another 10 minutes and speaking to the manager with no food in sight, we simply left. As we went to pay the bill inside, they said our food was still not even close to being ready. Everything was a complete and utter lie. This is unexceptional for a restaurant of this caliber. The restaurant would be better off being run by toddlers.
New chef and new menu are horrible. This used to be one of my favorite restaurants. Now it's one of the worst restaurants I've ever been to. Service was bad. The owner or manager gave me a free drink and shot due to this. The drinks were much smaller and not as good. The new wait staff looked confused and lost. Asked for more bread and never got it. Even the oil was bad. It used to be so good. It had a plop of a hummous type substance in it that was gross. No more pizza, charcuterie board, or mafaldine bolgnese with ricotta on the menu. I got the mafaldine veal bolognese that was very salty and parmesan heavy. She got the mafaldine limon. It was the most bland thing I ever tasted. No salt or pepper on the table to add flavor. Had to request it. I should have checked the menu prior, so that I will take fault for. I presumed it was the same. Not only that, but my girlfriend was sick last night and is still sick now this morning. I'm telling everyone I know not to go here. Undici is dead to me. RIP.
It hurts me to write a bad review on Undici this has been my favorite spot for years, great memories and times here, but after this new renovation Undici is not the same it used to be the food is not good anymore and it seems theres way less options on the menu now and they got rid of a lot of good meals for example the pizza they had the best pizza in the area it was amazing as well as other stuff even the dessert menu. Really hurts to see them do this I hope that they can bring that back at least and some other stuff on the menu Undici was amazing and they have a great ownership group I trust that they will make it better and fix it hope it happens.
We arrived with three people on Friday night. They said that they had no tables available. The entire dining room was open. We were told that we can sit at the bar but that there would be a 30 min wait. Meanwhile the owner and his family were sitting at the bar taking up four or five seats. The bar tenders were great and the server was attentive. The food was NOT worth what we paid! The food was okay. My friends and I done out weekly and visit many restaurants in the area. I can tell you that we will NOT return here. There are so many other restaurants in the area that know how to treat their guests!
I’ve been going to Undici for many years, and while the recent renovation looks great and the atmosphere is very nice, the food is not up to par. Our two veal Bolognese dishes came out only warm, and the pasta was already congealed — I couldn’t even spin it on my fork. The butternut squash pasta dish was an appetizer-sized portion for $38 — really? The PACHERRI my wife ordered was the only standout. For the prices they’re now charging, the quality and consistency just aren’t there. The new menu also isn’t up to par, and overall I’m not a fan of the recent changes. They should also think about their wine portion sizes 4oz ???I’m not sure if I’ll be going back anymore — looks like I’ve lost another restaurant on my list.
