I had the best experience here! Came in with my daughter who is 5 after church a couple Sundays ago and it was perfect. They were so kind even though it’s a more upscale place and I had a 5 year old with me. I got the avo toast and she was able to order “ala cart” and get two scrambled eggs and a croissant. I loved how they asked if she’d like it warm, which was a YES, of course! At the end of our visit one of the hosts up from was so generous and gifted my daughter a cookie! I cannot wait for the chance to come back for dinner or lunch! Their burger is what I’m coming back for, saw someone else get it and it looked soooo good!!!

What a beautiful restaurant! Amazing service and food. We really enjoyed our food, everything was absolutely delicious!!. The breakfast scone, vanilla latte, and avocado toast I had were incredible. Highly recommend. By the way, the fresh flowers at every table is a really nice touch!

Can’t wait to return! One of the best breakfasts we have had! The chorizo and lobster skillet is one of my favorite breakfast items I have ever tried. The atmosphere is gorgeous and welcoming

Everything was excellent. Loved the atmosphere and decor! We celebrated Father’s Day with brunch at Zinc and then a Loon’s Game. Zinc was exactly what we were looking for. We all loved the items we ordered. However the Au Gus for the French Dip wasn’t as salty as we normally like it but it was still delicious! Service and presentation were impeccable.

We visited Dow Gardens and decided to stop here for lunch! Both of the salads we ordered were delicious, and the french onion soup was SO GOOD!! Also, our waiter was wonderful :) Very nice outdoor seating.

Cafe Zinc [Zn] hails its name from the timeframe in the early time in this millennium when chemical monikers were the cute thing. Next door is the “H”, I.e., hydrogen. Even Dow had the slogan “The Human Element [Hu]. However, homed in the chemical city, certainly apropos. Ok, what about the food? Bigger portions than expected, superb taste and presentation, and excellent service! Highly recommended. The soup of the day and salad was a highlight. I had the beetroot salad, which consisted of bourbon whipped goat cheese, roasted butternut squash, toasted walnuts, baby kale, dried cranberries, and cranberry vinaigrette dressing, which ran $16. My significant other had the filet mignon, done medium rare. It came with fries catsup and accoutrements. In addition, we had the bisque soup of the day and a final entree of shrimp arrabiato. We asked the waitress to split this for two, which they happily did. This dish consisted of pipette pasta, tiger shrimp, parmesan reggiano and grilled baguette. Actually, having the dish split worked well, as it had quite a bit of food for two adults. We had the Main Street sour drink to boot, which was a great addition to the rest of the meal. We ended up taking much more home than we thought, as there was much food

Great café for a unique breakfast experience! We sat outside on the covered patio and were able to enjoy a delicious breakfast over steaming cups of coffee. I tried the Shrimp Caprese Benedict, and my partner tried the Cubano Benedict. Both were cooked perfectly with a variety of flavors. I'm definitely looking forward to dining here in the future!

We ate in an outdoor pod for Easter; and everything was incredible! Really! Our server David was helpful, attentive, polite, quick, knowledgeable about every menu item we asked about, he gave great recommendations, and was all around a delight!! Everything we ordered was fantastic! I highly recommend their cocktails Wild Pear & White Dragon - delicious!! Food was amazing. And the whole atmosphere of the pod was fun & upscale. Entire experience was a good one. Will be back (:

Very nice place, food was perfectly cooked. My wife ordered the onion soup appetizer and I hate onions and this was the very best onion soup in the world. I would order this every time from here. As you can see our fish was also cooked perfectly. If you are going make sure you call for reservations. We didn't call but we were able to be seated at the counter. This one of my wife's and I favorite place to for special occasions. If you want to impress your date or your wife this is a 5 star place.

I've eaten here several times - it's always delicious and amazing service. This year, I ordered pastries for a small birthday dinner - and received a call from the chef to plan what I wanted! All for a very affordable price. Worth going to, or taking out.

You will get no better bread, pastries or lobster thermador ANYWHERE. I was visiting Midland for a couple's weekend and absolutely loved Cafe Zinc. We stayed at The H Hotel (which is all part of this complex: The Hotel H, Table, Oxygen and Cafe Zinc) for a couple of nights to celebrate my birthday. We were seated outside on the patio situated right on Main Street. Great for people watching. Our dinner on Friday night was very special as I had their Lobster Thermidor and ABSOLUTELY LOVED it! My husband had the NY Strip Steak and he said it was very tasty and tender. We started our meal with the Parma fries and the Escargot with mushrooms. Both appetizers we delicious. There are a few notable items was the baked goods. Actually, the desserts and the bread will know your socks off. With a huge selection of pastries you will find it hard to choose. The bread was so good we took a loaf home to our family. If you are around when the Farmer's Market is open, Cafe Zinc has a stall with all their baked goods. Stop by! We did not have room for dessert (we were so stuffed) but we did try them out the next evening when we had cocktails at Oxygen. Why end a meal with dessert when you can start with one? I also want to mention the breakfast skillets. We both had a hearty breakfast on Sunday and loved it. The hash browns are worth the trip alone. Don't skip breakfast it was so good!

Anna Marie took good care of us. The food was super, from Filet Mignon to kid French Onion Soup with shrimp (only $8!) Everything is styled to a French experience from the ambiance to the silverware. A surprising find!

Excellent place to dine. Be sure to ask for Megan or Kathy; both are phenomenal. Food is great in a great atmosphere.

Stopped here about 4:30pm on a Saturday and were able to be seated immediately on the L shaped patio without reservations. They provide a basket of warm assorted bread for an appetizer. My entree was the fish tacos with fries and I had the creme brûlée for dessert. The fish tacos were very good with plenty of chipotle sauce. The creme brûlée was plentiful and prepared perfectly. Service was excellent keeping our water glasses filled on a extremely hot and humid day. Flat top tables with wicker chairs outside. Cloth napkins. Wifi. Limited street parking. Inside was very elegant but my party wanted to sit outside due to COVID concerns. The only negative was loud vehicles (music, motorcycles, mufflers) going by. Moderately high prices but probably the lowest in the trio of restaurants there. (118, the H and Cafe Zinc). I would recommend and would return.

Service is amazing, food is even better. We could argue over which was better and never come to a decision. Highly recommend the Portobello Ravioli, Filet, and literally anything out of their desert selection.

What a great cafe! From the food to the service! The lunch menu offered more vegetarian options than I anticipated! I ordered the hummus & pita bread (absolutely amazing) and the cafe quiche, it was delicious! The presentation of everything was wonderful and only enhanced my experience. I also grabbed a cappuccino before leaving 👌

A great place for a quality breakfast. The meals aren't simple grab-and-go fare, but full platters of food like you would expect for lunch or dinner. The food was all EXCELLENT, especially the quiche. I ate here 3 times and loved every single meal!

Merry Christmas breakfast reminds us of cafes in France. I had a traditional American breakfast with a French almond crescent. My husband had oatmeal with all the toppings. The coffee is delicious, robust, and plentiful; the staff is attentive and your cup never sees the bottom unless you are finished drinking coffee. The staff were cheerful despite having to work on Christmas Day. Thank you!

Atmosphere is classy. Decor was beautiful, elegant, and relaxed. Fresh French bakery ambiance. Our server (David) was on spot! The whipped Feta appetizer plate is outstanding. Beet salad was amazing. You can add a protein (chicken, salmon, or shrimp) Overall definitely a suggested spot to enjoy a meal while visiting Midland.

I love the salmon avocado toast they have on the weekends for brunch. All their food is great. Service can be great or just ok. It’s never bad though.

My guest and I both got a salad and the filet. Exceptional preparation, the freshest lettuce and veggies, and the filets cut like butter and cooked exactly as requested. Sat on the patio and had an excellent meal. Completely unexpected in Midland. Worth the money.

This was our first time at Cafe Zinc. The atmosphere was very nice/upscale but still cozy. The food was absolutely delicious. Their Gluten Free toast was the best I’ve had at a restaurant! Our server, “Lu”, was very knowledgeable and very friendly! He informed us that we are able to order a loaf of their GF bread for pick up, a couple days in advance. Which is great to know! Our food took a bit longer than expected but it was a busy morning. It was well worth the wait. We will definitely be recommending this restaurant and returning in the future to try other items on their menu!

Top spot in the tri cities for fine dining options 5 out of 5 stars with must try pastries and desserts!!! Great quality food with reasonable portion sizes. Breakfast lunch and dinner consistently awesome! Total cost reasonable on the higher end, but paying for great quality food. Solid atmosphere, excellent for post celebration events eg anniversary etc. service is excellent and goes above and beyond if you make a reservation for special event ie celebration card signed by most of kitchen staff.

Delightful spot for lunch for 4 after touring the Dow Gardens. We ate outside and were well accomplished. Hummus and olive appetizers were flavorful. Salads and sandwiches were high quality. The inside bakery had a assortment of artisan type desserts that were irresistible. We took home a piece of carrot cake and a piece of hazelnut crunch based Boston creme cake. They were superb, not only in taste but also presentation. We will definitely eat there again in the near future.

Ever since moving to Midland this past August for some temporary work, I’d heard good things about Café Zinc, and have been itching to go. My brother’s birthday was the perfect opportunity to check it out. And yes, it was as good as advertised. Near 70 degree weather (in November, no less) made sitting at one of the outdoor tables a treat. Our waiter, Luciano, was attentive and professional with a nice, low-key sense of humor. My lunch partners began with a tasty, albeit different take on our Lebanese family favorite, hommos, followed by a Caesar salad with chicken and a Croque Monsieur with a side of Parmigiano-Regiano pommes frites (thin n’ crispy fries). Plates were duly cleaned. I ordered the same frites to go with a duck confit salad, the latter of which was tender and juicy, if not quite as hot as I would have liked. All these goodies were accompanied by a couple of glasses of a refreshingly smooth 2019 Arona Sauvignon Blanc from New Zealand, a 2016 Drouhin Chardonnay from Burgundy, and a 2019 Camina Tempranillo from Castilla, Spain. It was a very nice lunch experience. And my sister-in-law has a birthday next month. Guess where we’re going?

Great modern spot in Midland. Part cafe, part restaurant and bar. We had dinner in one of their 4 pods which was fun and more private.

I want to give this 5, but the service is just not at a 5 star rating. I've been here twice recently. Once for dinner and the other for lunch. I dont remember the service being too bad the first time. Now for lunch, it was terribly slow. The major issue with that is that they weren't busy and almost seemed over staffed. We were sitting outside and could see inside a lot of staff just talking behind the bar. Took 10 minutes to get our waters. There were tables around us that were done, and the table did not get cleaned. Which only brought more bees in. Had to track down another staff member just to get our check. The food was good. Id still go back again.

TLDR: Good food, but pricy. ($68 for one cocktail, a steak, and a tip) Allot a good two hours for a meal here or you’ll feel rushed. Manager has a bit of an attitude, hopefully just caught her on a bad day. Overall, I’ll likely give them another chance but I think we made a poor choice in restaurants for doing dinner and a show. I went with my great aunt and my mom as my great aunt had been here before with a friend and really enjoyed it. I didn’t care for the attitude of the manager, she needs some additional training on customer service. We showed up a little early for our reservation and they hadn’t cleared the table yet, which was totally fine. A couple walked in without a reservation and was immediately seated. My great aunt got a little anxious that we got forgotten about and inquired why they got seated first. The manager gave us a ton of attitude and told us that we needed to “wait 2 whole minutes” for them to finish up. As someone who has worked in customer service for 7 years, I know there were much more polite and less rude ways to handle the situation. We did eventually get seated, even before our reservation time which we appreciated. I believe we were seated by 5:50 when our reservation was at 6. The waitress was excellent and attentive. We ordered our food and drinks at the same time (highly recommend!). Our drinks came out quickly and were very good. I got the Paloma and my mother got some white wine. We chatted and enjoyed ourselves and then noticed the time was now 6:30 and we still hadn’t gotten our food. Normally I wouldn’t care but we had a 7:30 show we had to catch and were planning on leaving at 7. We gently checked in with the waitress and the food was out within 10 minutes. I ordered the Filet Mignon, my mom ordered the Salmon, and my great aunt ordered the broiled branzino. I ordered my steak medium and it came a little over medium well. Otherwise my dish was excellent. Asparagus was some of the best I’ve ever had. Potatoes were basically fancy scalloped potatoes, but still very tasty. Sauce on the steak was delicious, but surprisingly spicy. Not overwhelming but not what I anticipated. My mother said she enjoyed her salmon. She regularly cooks it at home and is hesitant to try it at restaurants as it’s difficult to get right. She said the salmon exceeded her expectations and was something above what she could cook at home. My great aunt enjoyed her boiled branzino (which was a white fish), but the menu stated it was supposed to come with lump crab and it was either so small it blended in with the quinoa or wasn’t included. My biggest disappointment was that we ran out of time for dessert as the dessert case looked absolutely delicious from top to bottom.

We decided to try this place on an unplanned night off for a nice stress-free evening. Unfortunately, at just about every turn, our experience was a negative one. Upon arriving, we found the restaurant nearly empty on a Thursday evening at 6:30pm. "Great!", we thought. We did around for about 4 minutes waiting for a hostess to appear and seat us. Fine. We knew the pricing, so we weren't concerned about cost as long as service and food warranted it. Between getting our menus and taking our order, it was a 20 minute wait. After another 15 minutes came the complimentary amuse-bouche which was very nice. We ordered Steak Frites, medium rare, aware that this was a simple dish to accomplish in a short time. After a 35 minute wait, our order came. Brutal. My steak was a solid medium temp. No give, no pink. At $50, I just had to send it back. After ANOTHER 25 minutes, the steak came back still a bit overcooked, but passable. By this time, my husband's dinner was unenjoyable. The steak was also served with a port wine compound butter, which was pink and unappetizing atop red meat. New cook in the kitchen? No idea. The server was apologetic and comped us dessert, which we took to go. All total, we spent $158 with tax and tip, and 2 hours of our valuable evening. Not great.

The atmosphere was nice with plenty of outdoor and indoor seating options. Zinc presents itself as higher end dining but the food is just above average-ish and moderately expensive. The fish tacos were very dry and strangely spiced - like someone drown them in blackening seasoning - and also had multiple bones. The Mediterranean wrap was good but soggy. Our fries were cold. We got a hommous plate and the pita (flatbread?) was so hard it was difficult to bite through. Service was slow and it took us almost 2 hours from being seated to finally getting our check. The deserts on display looked amazing but we didn't get any. For me the cost:quality ratio was out of whack but your milage may vary.

T
Timothy Hauff

Loved our experience at Cafe Zinc. We stopped for coffee and dessert. I prefer a different flavor profile of coffee, I did not enjoy the coffee. My go to coffee when traveling is Starbucks Verona dark roast, as reference. Otherwise service was great and friendly. Prices are on the higher side. Mostly likely we won’t revisit.

J
Julio Reguero

Food is average, service is mediocre. If your group is more than six people they will split it in two tables, even if you come with minors, which is ridiculous but apparently they have to be in “compliance” with city regulations. They couldn’t even get my order right, and the manager, who was aware of the situation, didn’t had the decency to stop by our table and apologize. Talk about arrogance and poor customer service. None of us will ever come back to this place. The standards of a great experience are too low.

S
Sue Blankenhagen

We had a terrible experience at this restaurant for lunch, mainly due to the apathetic attitude and excuses from our server. Had to flag her down for our initial drink order after sitting there for 10-15 minutes without acknowledgement. Drinks were bad, but due to her attitude, we didn’t want to mention anything. My friend and I were sharing two entrees and we asked for small plates. Server said she’d bring them and never did. Didn’t check back with us either, even though there were only a couple of tables occupied. Food was mediocre, and not cheap. Overall, poor experience.

M
Michael Shtutman

Tried to take my girlfriend out on a date at Café Zinc and ended up getting up and leaving. I’m 21 with a valid Florida ID (vertical format), which I use everywhere in Midland with no issues. The manager refused it and claimed it was “state law to get a horizontal ID no later than 30 days after turning 21,” even after I asked if it was just their policy. It’s fine if a restaurant wants stricter rules, and I understand their right to refuse service to whomever they choose, but saying it’s state law when it isn’t is frustrating and misleading. Really took the vibe out of what was supposed to be a nice afternoon. Most likely never coming back, which is disappointing because it’s a pretty nice spot for breakfast/lunch.

J
Jon Banner

Normally, this is a great place that we have frequented for years. When friends or family are around and/or a special occasion, Cafe Zinc has been a go to. Generally, friendly service along with awesome food. 10/5 was the exception but such an egregious one that has spawned this review. We had a reservation at 10:30am but were ignored until a second request to be seated was made (as others were arriving and seated prior to us). Once seated, we waited for the service that we have come to expect from Cafe Zinc. We waited for this service for over one hour hour and 45 minutes. Our coffee cups were regularly left empty. Once the food arrived at 11:30 (no delay in our menu choices), it was cold. My chef special Benedict was served cold and unable to be enjoyed. The other 3 members of our party also advised that their food was cold. We were offered a desert to take with us but after this experience no member of the brunch party wanted to partake. I was later advised that the food that I ordered would be removed from the bill (as if there was another choice as it was only tasted and 98% sent back). This experience still cost over $100 for 4 people trying to enjoy brunch and coffee. All while I was being told that everything came out warm (after an hour and 30 minutes, it must be my fault for not eating it fast enough). I am close to a permanent ban but due to other great experiences, might be willing to give it another try but will be wary. It is sad when your go to places serve up such a disappointing experience. I urge Cafe Zinc to take a close look at what can be done to make sure all their reservations are treated like the gift that they are.
