Very nice place and Atmosphere, food is GREAT and its open year round. Off season time its best time to enjoy the country side of Montauk and have a nice restaurant to go to, instead of the pick season when its a Mission to get to Montauk and a Job to get in to restaurant.
I own a tow truck co in Bronx NY did a tow to Montauk ... my wife took the ride with me we didn't know anywhere to go we stopped at the first place we saw and boy great place to eat food was amazing i had the codfish oreganda my wife the burger loved them both . The employees here they are all very attentive colleen was our waitress super friendly a truly good hearted person and the bartender made a slamming good long island ice tea loved this place will be back this year thank you for the hospitality see you girls soon ...if your in Montauk don't pass this place up
Food was absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation. We enjoyed the special bar drinks too! Its a great place to relax and meet friends.
Absolutely the best restaurant in Montauk, fantastic service very accommodating
Very friendly atmosphere. I was there on Monday night and they had live music it was one of the best bands You have to go there to belive me
I ordered the mahi-mahi tacos. So fresh and delicious. Perfectly seasoned. The guacamole on top was the perfect compliment. Casual dining, come as you are place.
Great food, and fun comedy shows every Wednesday night!!!
Food and drinks were delicious. Service was great would definitely eat here again. The outside sitting area adds the perfect touch.
The fish & chips is the way to go: a generous portion of cod, and battered deliciously! Perfect after a long day out east 🙂
This place is SO GOOD!!The atmosphere is warm and friendly and the service was excellent! The food was fresh and well preparedAfter an awe some lunch, the owner recommended desserts, the cheesecake and the oreo nutella wontons, probably the best desserts weve ever had!We will definitely be back!
Nice friendly environment. Lobster roll was delish, the lobster grilled cheese was the star of the table though. Also the coleslaw was delish. Worth every penny. Thanks for a good lunch.
Great people, nice place, very good food. I forgot my credit card there last night and the crew was looking for each hotel in town until they found me this morning and returned it. Mike didn't accept our extra tip for it. That's tell you what kind of people works there. Colleen and the rest of the staff are awesome too, deserved to come back!!
After not having enough cash for another restaurant, I stumbled upon this place and I am glad I did. All I kept saying is OMG while eating the fish tacos. They were so delicious. The service was amazing too despite losing a server for the day.
Been coming here for years and Joel has always been a gracious owner/chef who treats guests like family. I have been and will continue to eat here for years to come. The food is always fresh and top notch it gets no better in montauk as far as I'm concerned.
Went last night with my girlfriend. Food was expensive but worth it in my opinion. I loved my food. The owner and server were great. We all talked and we both felt welcome. Ill be back there whenever im in montauk for sure!
I was lucky enough to be treated by my husband to a very special dinner at Tauk At Trail's End last month. It was beyond amazing. We were greeted at the door by the friendly staff and our evening started. The decor was perfect. We were made to feel so welcome. The menu was so diverse, almost anything we wanted there. I have to mention "Steve's Fall off the Bone Baby Back Ribs" were the best I have ever had. The meat really fell off the bone! The lobster quesadilla was so good as well. Our entrees were Chicken Ala Mike and Broiled Filet Mignon, which was cooked to perfection. The proportions were very generous and we enjoyed both dinners. We included the Brussel Sprouts as a side and they complemented our meals totally. They were so delicious. As stuffed as we were, we had to have dessert so we ordered the crepe and wontons. Amazing! What a perfect way to complete our meal. Make sure you visit Tauk at Trails End next time you are in Montauk. You need to add it to your must do list in Montauk!
Great food, great live bands, beautiful outdoor area-with heaters for those chilly Montauk nights. The bartender is fantastic, waitresses are polite, and the owner knows how to make you feel like family.
We loved this place so much that we went two days in a row. The seafood tower, jalapeño clams and lobster bake were all standouts. Terrific food and very friendly service. We're keen to go back again.
I wouldn’t even rate it if it didn’t stand out to me. Me and my girlfriend sort of went here accidentally because montauk brewery closed after 8pm. From the outside it’s not the most appealing place but walk inside and it’s a cozy place with 5 montauk beers on tap along with like 4 or 5 other beers on tap also. Staff was very friendly and it was a good experience here. I recommend trying it out if you’re in the area
Nice little lunch place with tiny outdoor tables as well as indoor seating and bar. Casual, beachy atmosphere, in the village of Montauk. Walking distance to the beach! Lobster sandwiches are good but pricey ($32). Cheaper fare available- burgers, sandwiches, as well as dinner and a large drinks menu. Cute place to grab a bite on a crisp Fall Saturday afternoon!
Great menu, awesome service The waitresses are extremely friendly.... Great value I've been coming out to Montauk for 50 years all my life Plus, tauk at trails end is my new go to place
The nicest owner/bouncer Michael (unsure which??) and a great spot with a live band! Cute set up outside with very reasonable priced food in Montauk. The prime rib was delish and the onion rings were fire. Everyone should go here!!
Lobster pasta was delish, frozen drink was fantastic, and the music on Monday night ruled. Great energy, rad spot.
This place is a staple for us. Whenever we are in Montauk and are craving mussels we come here. We just went two weeks ago and there was a live band and Halloween party happening. Always such a great time here with the locals.
Awesome menu with inventive twists and classic dishes. The seafood and shellfish are as fresh as can be. I had the grilled romaine salad with broiled fluke. It was so great I came back a week later and had it again - this time with flounder. We also had the soft shell crab sandwich and Tauk burger. All dishes were impressive and perfect. Very friendly atmosphere. Casual and great experience.
We visited this when we were turned away from Surf Lodge (lol) and we really wanted to eat some good food. The hostess was very welcoming and sweet and such a refreshing change from the previous place, and there was a very cool band playing there as well so we were happy. We started off with the bread which in itself was so amazing that we ordered another one. Other than that, the scallop risotto stole the show. Other food we ordered was good, but this was amazing. The fired calamari was very fresh and delicious. Overall a great experience, I'd love to return here again!
Great bar. Got the French Dip and it was one of the best I've ever had. My wife loved her chicken sandwich. Large portions fair price and fresh beer taps. We be back again 😀
Absolutely delicious. Veggie burger, crab cakes, and steaks did not disappoint. Wait staff overwhelmed but still attentive to patron needs. Outdoor and indoor seating. Not noisy, comfy cool atmosphere. Recommend.
Stopped in for dinner here after spending the day in Montauk. My girlfriend and I had heard the live music earlier when we walked past and when we were looking for a place on the map to eat we saw that they are LGBTQ friendly. Our temperatures were checked and our information taken for contact tracing in order to be seated. We were showed the back patio and the front seating area before given a choice of where we wanted to sit. The food was delicious and came out quick. The owner checked in on us a couple of times and adjusted our umbrella as the sun was setting. Great meal, will keep them in mind when I’m in town again.
Monday night music was great fun.
Sept 24, 2019. Planned on lunch in a different place that turned out to be closed. Found Tauk on Google. Walked in. Nobody there. The hostess/waitress seated us. Fried zucchini was so fresh and sliced lengthwise. Lightly breaded delicious. Fish tacos and codfish sandwich..excellent. highly recommended.
My husband and I recently went to Tauk at Trail’s End and absolutely loved it. When we arrived we were sat at a table for 4. A few minutes later a group of people came in and we were therefore asked if we could move to the table for 2. This was not a problem at all and after we had done so, the owner came over to thank us and was nice enough to make our sodas complimentary (which was very sweet). The food was spot on (the lobster bisque was amazing) and not too pricey compared to other places out here in Montauk. We wish we lived closer so that we could come here more often! We will definitely be back and will recommend this place to others.
they were very welcoming and had taken every precaution to make sure we were comfortable dining during the pandemic. after a temp check we were quickly seated in their back area, away from the street, and had a friendly chat with the owner. the staff were all courteous and safely handled our order in a timely way. top notch work! 🙌
Amazing service, good came out quick, delicious food, great atmosphere, come chill even if you have little kids, the outdoor area is very clean nice and relaxed
Went to Tauk with a group of 16 for dinner. Staff great and the food was amazing. Spicy watermelon margaritas was great. Definitely recommend this place.
We were lucky enough to kick off our Montauk wedding weekend at Tauk. Our rehearsal dinner & welcome drinks event was held here and it was better than we could have imagined. All of our guests were talking about how amazing the food and service was - the owner, Mike, and Maria were so so helpful throughout the entire night and made it a spectacular event. The outdoor patio was perfect for our large group of 100+ for the welcome drinks and was set up just how we wanted. The rehearsal dinner consisted of lobster grilled cheese (our favorites!!), stuffed mushrooms, calamari, and large portions of rigatoni vodka, lobster pasta, and braised short rib. Everything was AMAZING and the wine, beer, and cocktails were flowing. Mike even hand filled cannolis for our dessert which were fantastic. All in all an absolute great night and perfect way to kick off our wedding weekend - big thanks to Mike, Maria, and the whole Tauk team!!
Wow my favorite place! Delish fresh food, live music and really good drinks (watermelon marg was amazing) ….many other places have lost it but Tauk has the old school mtk vibe still! Perfect place to go for dinner, drinks and music.
This is a MUST visit place! Everything was more than perfect! The staff, service, food, vibes! So cozy, friendly and just bring you positivity.. We had Sweet potatoes, stuffed jalapenos, buffalo wings, and burger... Literally, all the food was SO GOOD and highly recommended, especially the stuffed jalapenos, it is such a special plate that you don't find everywhere. The place is just full of energy and everything is presented with love. Don't miss it!
Like all restaurants if you have a dog you eat outside. I went early and was seated quickly (asked to be seated in the back because it was shady). They asked if I wanted water for my dog (I had her food and bottle water and portable feeding tray). I ordered the burger and it was great (it had cheese, bacon and carmelized onions, along with the standard lettuce tomato onions and a pickle and coleslaw.
Amazing food. Sweet waitresses Payton. Fresh steak and salad. Delicious fish tacos. Grateful to a restaurant wanting to better the community and bring unique sweet live music. I highly recommend siting at the high tables outside. I'm coming back for more live music and savory food and drinks.
Food was phenomenal. Mussels Fra Diavolo were just spicy enough and super tender. Creme Brule was arguably the best we ever had. Madison was an,awesome server. Pleasant, knowledgeable, attentive, and had a good sense of humor. We will be back! I forgot to mention in my original review, the safety steps Tauk is taking in this pandemic. Seating is spaced out significantly; you can see they are at less than 50% capacity. Temperatures were taken on arrival and logged in with names and phone number. And of course, masks are mandatory. They are following the proper steps that many other establishments waver on. My wife and I were pleased with this sage environment. Tauk is a win!
Great place to stop for a quick bite! Given today’s “new normal” aka pandemic life....this restaurant is doing everything to ensure all customers and staff are safe. One of the only places in the area that had temperature checks....definitely a plus and made me feel just a little more safe. I appreciate the use of plastic silverware, social distancing tables all staff were masked and there was one way in and out for the restrooms. Loved the outside seating area made me feel like I was in Miami for a second. Prices were a little high but that’s to be expected given the area, menu items and current times. I had no issue paying $32 for my buttered lobster roll it was very tasty and I’m supporting local business. That’s a win win in my book! Plus I seen they have live music at night but it was more crowded then on the patio so keep that in mind. Overall definitely stop at this place when in the area you won’t be disappointed!
We stopped in for a preseason price fixe dinner. We had the soup and the bisque, we had a crab cake, royal fish, fried calamari, and a couple other things that I don't remember off hand. It was delicious we sat at the bar or well attended to and the food was promptly and pleasingly presented. As with most restaurants in Montauk, I suspect we won't be coming here in season. But it is offseason perfect.
Our 2nd time here. Was recently there with a large gathering and everything ran smoothly. The zucchini chips and sauce were amazing. The flounder oreganata was very good and the sauvignon blanc was smooth going down. Definitely love Tauk!
the seafood was fresh. you can really take the difference in the food compared to the seafood back in new york city. Price is decent and the spot is pretty local.
Food very good, so was service, until it became loud dance club at 9:00 on Tuesday night, while people were still eating & no one there to dance yet. Had to chase staff down to pay check.
This was our first time in Montauk in about 25 years so we weren't sure where to grab a bite. Saw the reviews and figured we'd give it a shot. It's a Thursday during the week after Labor Day so things are a little slower out here. Walked in at about 5:30 to a totally empty restaurant. We weren't looking for a rowdy place but we weren't expecting to be the only patrons. We were a little hesitant but figured we'd give it a shot. So glad we did. Sat at the bar. Half dozen little necks, crab cakes, grilled chicken Caesar salad, and a bacon cheeseburger. All the food was delicious and bartender was friendly and attentive. Only reason i didn't give 5 stars was that my Blue Moon came with a fruit fly floating on the top. It happens. I still drank it. Alcohol kills the germs. Food was really good though. I'd go back without hesitation.
I'm a lobster roll connisuer...I have eaten them all over the US... and this one is truly one of my favorite. It is exactly like my All Time favorite at Boon's in Maine. Bartender was very quick, knowledgeable, friendly and fun! Definitely go back for a repeat!
Nice spot to stop by for lunch. We ordered the baked clams, kale caesar salad, and Tauk burger. The kale caesar salad was underwhelming especially for the price. Everything else was good. We came here another night just for dessert - the apple crisp was delicious - make sure to get it à la mode!
We've been here a couple of times and had a good experience. I like coming here because the owner is always in the restaurant walking around, talking with customers. He definitely wants to make sure things are done right- that's why we keep going back. I would suggest to order something from the specials menu as it's always fresh. They have live music and and outdoor dining. It is definitely a hip spot and if you need a place to go with the kids that doesn't suck I would highly recommend this place-just get there a little earlier because it does fill up-but they definitely can accommodate.
The food was great. We really enjoyed atmosphere. Lost a star due to slow service. Ordered a second cup of coffee but the server was so busy with the crowd that by the time she remembered we just wanted our bill.
First time dining here...very very simple place. The menu wasn't anything crazy basic food.Waitress was very nice. Husband ordered fish and chips...he was not a fan of them.He said the cod actually tasted a little funny, which was very disappointing considering we are out in montauk.Ijust had the nachos as a meal. Very nice portion, very simple nachos.Place was clean for the most part.Good for a quick bite, food was nothing special.
This atmosphere here was really nice. Laid back, like a neighborhood bar, complete with local performers... I will say, the prices are a bit high for what you're getting. Lobster pasta didn't have much lobster in it, but there was an abundance of noodles. It leaves you full, but for nearly $40 I thought there'd be a little more protein. Also, the burger was tasty, but doesn't come with any fries, just a pickle and tiny cup of slaw. We had a good time here though. Very nice oysters and drinks.
Had an amazing experience here. Ordered the fish and chips at the bar and Mojitos. The fish and chips were delicious. The Mojitos were good too! It was on Monday night and they had their open jam session and it was phenomenal! I’ve never seen anything like it. The bartender Jordan was friendly and accommodating as well. I would highly recommend going, and if you can go on a Monday night even better!
I had the lobster pasta and it was good. Had a few margaritas and they were nothing special but acceptable. Not far from the beach but off the main drag. They had a band playing but it wasn't too loud for conversations to be easily had.
Slow service but nice. Saw a table get forgotten. A bit pricy for what you get. Lobster bisque was excellent. Had the kale Caesar with shrimp ($25) was ok. $10 for a side of fries..... omg
Here for the Saint Patrick’s Day Parade 2019 and while waiting for friends to exit the bar, I watched employees checking IDs double the cover charge from $5 to $10 depending on the person. Disrespecting volunteer fire fighters in uniform by asking $10 for entry. Not a good business practice in my opinion.
Food was fine. I wasn't trying to spend 30 bucks on a meal so I got something a bit cheaper. I'm sure if I had gotten something nicer off the menu I would have liked it better.
Food was good, not great. I wouldn't rush back based on the food, and it’s completely overpriced . Fried calamari was above average crisp and tender. Bottled sweet chili sauce and marinara served on side. Baked clams were good stuffed whole clams. We also ordered Halibut tacos but not really sure it was halibut but perhaps some flaky fish with a bloodline . Portion was 2 tacos , need a third for the price . Overall good tasting but heavily breaded fried fish nuggets didn't add to the enjoyment of the tacos. Also ordered a cheese burger which was good fresh beef but a much better burger can be had right next door. Fries were frozen, non-descript and unseasoned and can be found in a hundred other restaurants at a cheaper price. Onion soup was very good and it should be for 9 dollars. Service: we were not greeted upon entering. Two tables in restaurant , half dozen people at bar. Noticed by bartender but left standing mid restaurant wondering should we sit? Not sit? Leave? Finally acknowledged by server things seemed to be going ok. Asked for lime with Pellegrino but none delivered upon second request we received lemons , no big deal , we forged forward. The restaurant began getting busy and service and attention to our table dwindled rapidly. Another server delivered our food without ketchup for the burger and fries. We secured the ketchup by flagging them down a few minutes later. It was at this point that we never saw our waitress again . Well actually we saw her but had zero contact again . We finished eating and my wife left on an errand for 20 minutes . I told her ill take care of the check and meet you. 20 minutes later she returned all the while we tried to get the attention of anyone to clear and deliver us a check or perhaps a dessert or coffee order? Not happening here. Completely overwhelmed waitstaff . I finally approached another waitress who had no contact with our table and she delivered the check. I really hate complaining , having spent a good portion of my adult life in the restaurant business , but it’s off season in Montauk and at almost 90 dollars for lunch for three people someone should be on Point, period . You're not gonna turn tables using this method of service nor gain any repeat customers. But then again this is Montauk with few off season options, and a captive audience .The customer’s satisfaction an after thought. A Theme that seems to have taken over this once joyful fishing Village where we vacationed for two decades in previous years.
Good service. Delicious fish tacos. Lobster roll superb. Big chucks of fresh lobster meat. Excellent. Wish I had known there was seating in courtyard in back. Front seating gets all the traffic noise.
We enjoyed the food, my burger was delicious. The owner (I’m assuming the owner) was very kind and went above and beyond for us. The 3 stars is because of the bartender. Normally I don’t like complaining because I work in the restaurant Industry and understand it can be rough, but all she did was complain and curse in front of us about her coworkers. We’d also ask for a drink and she wouldn’t even acknowledge us and would just hand us the drinks. We never knew if she even heard us or if we had to repeat ourselves. It kinda killed the mood for the evening and made us uncomfortable.
Unfortunately the noise level is occasionally horrific. The presentation of the ceasars salad was shocking and unworkable. The wait staff young and because of the noise (?) got the protein on the ceasars salad wrong. Burger good, fries great. Was that a pesto with the bread (which was the same as the croutons on the salad)?
Came here on a Monday night for a night cap with some live music and a drink or two. Wasn't too packed even with the band taking up most of the standing room, but service still wound up being pretty slow just to get a few quick drinks, but at least the staff was polite. Bar list was nothing to write home about and unfortunately neither was the band, but that's not Tauk's fault. Definitely a bit of a dad/dive bar as my significant other and I might have been the youngest two there by a solid thirty years, just so you know what kind of clientele you might be working with.
We had Baked clams, Mikes Chicken and a Kale salad. Clams were minced clams , over cooked, over seasoned. The chicken tasted like it was seasoned with Campbells soup.
Excellent, friendly service unfortunately couldn't save the food, which had virtually no presentation and little flavor for the price you pay to eat here. (16-dollar basic nachos in an aluminum foil pan and a $40 special entree on a paper plate!) It may be best left for a cool evening of drinks outdoors at the moment.
I agree with everyone that the atmosphere and service Is great. They give large portions for the money but i dont think the food is worth the money. The food isn't great unless you get a burger. I usually don't complain about food especially a local place but yuck. The pasta sauce was watered down, chicken was boiled and over cooked. For a seaside town you should get seafood right but the mussels were over cooked amd small. The chowder was ok but Ive definitely had better. I had a kale Quinoa salad that had way too much dressing on it. To their credit the fries were good but you'd have to be an idiot to mess that up.
My husband and I stopped in for a Saturday night dinner. The vibe was comfortable and the place had a good crowd at tables, so we were hopeful and sat at the bar. Unfortunately, the bartender was surly throughout our meal, and the food was disappointing. The photos of the food look very good online, but what you get pales in comparison. My husband’s fish tacos were mediocre, and my crab-stuffed flounder was covered in a red sauce that tasted like tomato paste from a can mixed with water. I don’t know how they have the nerve to charge $40 for that dish. We were both expecting so much more based on the reviews. The seafood tasted fresh enough and the bartender was finally nice when we were leaving, but I’d recommend you save your money and go elsewhere for a meal as neither made up for the rest of the experience.
Our first night in Montauk, we decided to stop here for dinner based on the decent online reviews and they accept walk-ins. Big mistake. My flounder dish was cold and greasy. Did not taste fresh at all. The rest of the food was mediocre. I did enjoy my cocktail until a bug got into it. Our server was kind and attentive. The bartender was not very friendly and appeared to be in a bad mood. Also, the ceiling vent near the bar and kitchen was completely filthy and hard to miss! A huge turn off. Won't be recommending this place to anyone and won't be returning.
Worst food I had in a long time - stale oyster that must have sat shucked in the fridge for days, and a tiny not very fresh lobster roll without fries for $38. Even the fish & chips my husband had were kind of off tasting - fish not fresh and fries soggy. We went there for the Monday night’s live music which was excellent but next time I go I will just have a drink at the bar
Unfortunately, our food was disappointing. The fish in the Mahi Mahi tacos were not grilled but seemed "poached" leaving them rather flavorless. The shrimp with risotto cake was bathed in TOO much sauce and the risotto cake was basically a flat rice ball. The calamari appetizer was fine as well as the wait service. Food was served quickly and hot. But here's the biggest concern... They DO NOT have their menu posted on THEIR website! SERIOUSLY??? WHY would any restaurant do something so absurd? We had to go to other web pages simply to find THEIR menu and those were no longer the active menu. Subsequently, the two dishes we thought we'd try were no longer available... AGAIN, WHY would ANY restaurant NOT have their menu on their OWN website... that speaks volumes!
Well, I hate to say we cant give a good review, but... I have to be honest. We had gone for a mid-September late lunch. We loved the vibe and decor (the cobalt blue glassware really accents the room along with the subtle details), and I liked that there were some beers you dont see everywhere on the menu.. so, I ordered one. Thank God my wife noticed gold lipstick on the top of my beer glass. The server was apologetic and so was the bartender as he brought me a fresh beer and glass, but how were they washed, I ask? The server was great as well. We ordered calamari, fish and chips and halibut tacos. I have to say, we loved the calamari. It was perfectly cooked and even the sauces were great. The marinara was very good and the sweet and sour was tangy and very tasty, but..... then things took a tragic turn. After the Calimari experience and seeing a $26 pricetag for the fish and chips. I had great expectations. Boy was I disappointed. It was clearly frozen. I've had better fish and chips st fast food restaurants. The batter was soggy and so was the fish. Not flaky at all. It seemed as if it was refrozen. The fries were also a little soggy and seemed like they were cooked in old oil. My wife's tacos were also pretty bad. The fish was over-fried and there were very few chunks, plus some of the veggies inside had passed their shelf life. We didn't have any, but some others seemed to sincerely like their soup if that adds any help. Even given all this I just can't hate the place. It has some sort of charm. I'd recommend it for a few drinks or more and a stab at some bar food, but can't give it a green light for a meal.
Chowder was pretty good, but everything else was terrible. Baked clams & crab cakes tasted the same using the same ingredients..the lobster roll was so salty, terrible experience.
Bartender ruined the experience we might have be able to stay and have. After dealing with his rude and condescending attitude we could hardly wait to finish our wine and appetizer and leave to find some place else for dinner.
Great food and service, however the manager was cold and disrespectful. It's crucial to treat your customers with kindness, patience, and care. Will not be going back anytime soon.
Absolutely ATROCIOUS service. We were seated at 7:30 and shortly thereafter placed our order as we were already hungry. Our appetizer arrived more than 1 hour later, despite inquiring about the status of the order twice. Entrees arrived after 9 pm, and at this point, we were pretty irritated. We did elect to order dessert, which actually never came. We spoke with an apparent manager not once but TWICE, however he did nothing to rectify the matter and simply made excuses for the lack of hospitality we had experienced. Additionally, we asked for the check not once, not twice, but three times before it was finally brought out. To top it all off, 2 people out of our party of 5 had stomach issues for the remainder of the evening. I highly discourage anyone from dining at this establishment. Take your business elsewhere.
We went to Tauk last Saturday February 27 for our 7year wedding anniversary.it First off our server came to the table with a hoodie and jeans on. We got an appetizer of crab cakes and shrimp cocktail. There were shells in the crab cake and it tasted like a frozen crabcake, shrimp cocktail tasted like they were frozen and rinsed under hot water and serviced with a piece of lettuce. My Wife ordered crab stuffed Flounder, stuffing had shells in it. I ordered the Steak Medium Rare.It had fat and grizzle all over it. Tasted like it was bought at supermarket. Wont be coming back, thank God John drive in was still open upon after dinner as we were still hungry.
The appetizer we ordered was embarrassing. We sent it back and they still charged us for it. As we left we were given an attitude and the food runner spit right in front of us. So many phenomenal places in Montauk to go eat, please go elsewhere, we know we will.
Place was so overpriced. Frozen calamari and worst lobster roll ever had in my life. Branzino dry and bland and Tuna so so. Not worth the price at all!!!! Want to eat this quality food just go to McDonalds and call it a day
This was one of our favorite places in MTK but after they couldn’t alter one of their dishes for my two small children I will never go back again. Having a limited diet is hard & the request was very simple. They need to improve the kids menu & customer service.
Decided to sit inside on a chilly evening, prior to sitting our first impression was a girl taking our temperature with dirty finger nails and clothes covered in lint and pet hair, not to mention the mismatched clothing of what i assume were the other staff members hanging by the bar discussing what shots they will be taking tonight. While browsing the sticky menu I looked into the kitchen and saw none of the staff were wearing masks. Im sorry but at a time like this, that is unacceptable. Can't say if the food was good because we left.
Aside from the clam chowder and calamari the food my family received was inedible. Burger ordered Medium Rate came out Well Done on a burnt bun with soggy fries. Kids pasta with butter was overcooked, unsalted and drowned in fake butter that my child ended up wearing more than eating because it was dripping in “butter”. My linguine and clam sauce was sandy, linguine was overcooked and the entire dish was under-seasoned but contained heaps of dried unrecognizable herbs. My rose was served in a plastic cup. Server was sweet but not great. Not what I was expecting from a $165 check.
Bad experience. The seafood is not fresh. I had the flounder stuffed with crab meat doused in some kind of sauce to "cover up" the dish. It did not taste right. Non of the seafood was fresh that we had. None of us felt good after. The servers were great, and the owner was friendly. Unfortunately, that does not help when you are paying top dollar for low quality dishes. The place is run down, as well as the dishes that were served
Friendly service and nice ambience are the only thing this place has going for it. Food was absolutely horrible. My wife’s lemonade was clearly some powdered sugar form five steps below country time and my apologies to CountryTime for even comparing. The nachos look like a pile of dog food and we’re burnt. The shrimp cocktail was very warm and on a hot day. Serve it on Ice!!!! And the cocktail sauce was a weird texture. Lobster bisque was disgusting. Calamari was the only thing decent.
The food was absolutely delicious. The service on the other hand was one of the worst meal experiences I’ve ever had. We arrived at around 5:15 before the dinner rush started. We were seated and almost immediately the waitress demanded that we place our drink and meal orders without being given a chance to even look at the menu. The waitress insisted that the kitchen was very busy even though there were like 6 tables in the restaurant and no one was outside waiting. After we were rushed into our order, the waitress never returned to ask if we needed another a drink or anything else. When our apps were delivered, no extra plates were given for empty shells. Our meals were delivered and the waitress would keep coming over and asking us if we were finished while there was clearly still food on our plates. She was one of the worst waitresses I’ve ever had. I work in hospitality and that is not the way one treats paying customers. Despite the excellent food, I will never be returning to this establishment based on the servers they hire
Overpriced for the food quality was horrible. My girlfriend got a super fatty piece of steak uncut on a sandwhich. I got the lobster grilled cheese which was horribly made and overpowered with lobster and very little cheese. We also ordered the cheesecake and key lime pie, and only received the key lime and the crust was so overcooked we ended up taking three bites and threw it away. I never mind spending money on food, but I would never come back and spend my money here. Also the service was rude and blunt. Overall horrible experience and I'll gladly take my money elsewhere, you should too.
We were genuinely excited to dine here after the Light the Lighthouse event, as we’ve done in the past. Unfortunately, tonight’s experience was extremely disappointing. The special lobster grilled cheese was dry and had an overpowering fishy taste, and the crispy chicken sandwich was greasy and completely lacking in flavor. What should have been a memorable evening turned into an $89 letdown. We are truly sad to say that we will not be returning.
Very disappointed! We sat at the bar during happy hours but the drinks were full price. The lobster roll which cost $38 dollars was very small, chewy and more like a lobster slider. Not worth it!
REPLY TO ESTABLISHMENT: We were literally the only table there at 7:30 PM, maybe that says something. The “live music” was painful to sit through, and frankly, John’s Drive-In is way better, way cheaper, and actually knows how to treat customers with respect and good service. You claim fries are $5, but our table was charged $12 EACH for individual sides, not a share size. So which is it? Your pricing is inconsistent and misleading. As for the $12 protein add-on: slapping a “Montauk rent” excuse on it is pathetic. PAY YOUR STAFF fairly without gouging customers to cover your overhead. That’s your responsibility, not ours. Be a better business. Overpriced, underwhelming, and rude; won’t be back, and I’ll make sure everyone I know avoids this place too. Tauk at Trails End is an absolute rip-off. $12 for a side of fries? Another $12 just to add protein to a salad? That’s $24 before you’ve even had a real meal. Nothing makes sense on this menu, which, by the way, has zero descriptions, so you’re blindly ordering overpriced food. They charged me $4 for a side of generic Hidden Valley ranch and tried to pass it off as something special. When I tried to return a dish I never even touched, they flat-out refused to take it off the bill. The greed here is unbelievable. I left hungry, annoyed, and with a stomachache. This place is all hype, no quality, and a complete scam. Never again.
