Opinions de Westlake Fish House Montauk
Great food, lots of options. Good place to eat with the family. Right on the water so there is a nice view of the marina. Little area out back to play corn hole.
Perfect meal to end a week in montauk. Casual laid back vibe with nice selection of cocktails and sushi fish & chips and other dockside staples. Walked in with a group and were served in a timely manner
Go for the food, not the view. The view is of a bunch of docked boats. But the food was awesome. Skip the fish tacos and get their salmon! Perfectly cooked, crispy on the edges and definitely as yummy as they look on the photos in reviews. Calamari also looked great -- should have gotten it too.
If you really want to feel like you’re eating in Montauk… This is a great place to do it. The best food is really the sushi… Which is fresh off the boat. All their other food is good as well… Including salads, burgers, and delicious desserts ( we loved the lava cake and key lime pie). Johnny was our server and he was good and a lot of fun too😊
This is a No-Frills Eatery with good fish, good brunch items, and fair prices. Wait staff is friendly and accommodating although management should have half and half available for the coffee without the wait-person having to search high and low for it. Tables have a view of West Lake Harbor. I would eat here again.
Great place for sushi and the old Montauk feel. If you have dinner at a table in the restaurant, you will have good meal, with good service. However, on the night that I was there, the bar staff was very rude. They definitely made you feel like you were not welcome, if you were not a local fisherman. Do not wear anything nicer than a tee shirt shirt and old shorts, or you will be treated like persona non grata at the bar. I have been going to Montauk for many years and the only locals arrogance is getting out of hand.
We come here 2x/week all summer for outdoor music & authentic dock vibes - the real Montauk gathers here after they hop off their fishing boats! Interior is just how we love it, step back in time to an era where the guys washed their catch out back and then earned a barstool to toast a great few days on the high seas. It's a special atmosphere and quite unique on the East End. Check the hand-written charts near the front door for the biggest fish catches of the week! Don't miss Monday evenings - 6pm start through to sunset with the amazing Lynn Blue Band. Lynn plays on the patio and you will want your camera out for the best "red sky" pictures of your summer! They play great covers of your most favorite rock tunes with the band's own twist - will have you wishing sunset was at 11pm! Ring toss and deck games are a fun addition, reminds me of great Fla Keys vacations. When it's time to order, here's your best plan: Seared tuna app, maki combo roll, grilled whole fish of the day, chowder all night, and my guys swear by the burgers& macaroni, and specialty sushi rolls, especially the Montauk and Westlake rolls. It can get crowded on weekends, but minimal wait on the back bar adds to the fun summer vibe. Saturday nights are awesome on the covered patio with live music and a packed house enjoying another stellar MTK weekend. Even when the summer tourists clock in, it ALWAYS feels like home. Speaking of bar - local drafts, Super fresh Lime 'Ritas, and comped sodas if you're the DD. Typical Hamptons pricing tho, which keeps us saying OUCH! Please, lower the drink prices! ! If I had one wish, it would be for happy hour drink prices, especially during the Lynn sets because I'm always bringing friends and treating to a round or two. At the existing Hamptons prices, that makes me dial back the number of Mondays we go. Hey guys, if $6 margaritas/drafts for the 6pm set, $7 for the 7pm set, $8 for the sunset set ... I'm in with all my friends ... and if a $15 plate of maki rolls could roll by from 5-6:30pm, heaven! Can't beat the location. Nice, really lovely hard-working servers, many from Ireland, which adds to the charm. Chef will come out to check on big tables, which says alot. Please improve the small plates and happy hour value and it's FIVE STARS PLUS ... you'll have to toss us out!
First of all, live music scene has always been good here. However, we have never encountered such terrible service experience at any restaurant across the globe that treating paying customers this way. We were told to either sit at the bar and order dinner or wait for 1 hour. So, we decided to choose the bar option. We ordered 5 dishes and drinks. The food took almost 40 mins to come to the bar. We didn’t say anything thinking it’s Labour Day weekend and keep a smiley faces until the end. Unfortunately, we have just finished our second dish and ordered 3rd drink, the big fat guy came at us and asked us to get up to finish our drinks because his friends are behind the bar ( he’s asked us TWICE not once) emphasising that his good paying customers are standing behind us. Then WHO ARE WE ??!! Meanwhile, we have just got our 3rd drinks served on the counter. The second time , this person introduced himself as George , the executive chef and asked if we knew his acquaintances. And we said “NO” and “ STOP HARASSING US”! We were in shock as he’s not only unappreciated our business, but also very rude as he kept coming twice to ask us to take our drinks and stand up to drinks so his friends can sit down at the bar counter. This restaurant has a large capacity both indoor and outdoor. We still cannot phantom what George was trying to tell to the bar scene here. There were lots of individuals who were only there for a beer , he didn’t approach them but he chose the couple who are paying more than $200+ for their dinner and have just ordered their 3rd drink to stand up so his friends could sit down and order food !!??? This is absolutely not a recommended place for dinner, especially if you were advised to sit at the bar counter. Personally speaking, your money is definitely appreciated somewhere else without being harassed this way.
I wish I would have looked at the reviews before coming here again because the latest reviews are spot on and there is a trend of rudeness to customers here and sadly I experienced the same lack of care. The entitlement is real here. So sad to see. After years of coming here I was so disappointed with how both the server and manage handled everything! Its starts from the top!
I’ve been a chef for over 30 years and have made thousands of sushi rolls—what I was served at West Lake Fish was all panko, with barely any trace of scallop. When I politely brought it to our server Kelly’s attention, her response was dismissive and condescending: “Scallop is a fine fish—you just don’t see it mixed in with the panko.” That is not how you handle a guest’s concern. We were a group of four and noticed that gratuity had been added to our bill. We went to speak with the manager to clarify, and instead of addressing it professionally, he questioned the generous tip we had left—which felt completely inappropriate. Even with the poor service, we still tipped Kelly well. My wife and I both felt strongly enough to leave reviews because we truly hope both the server and manager take this as an opportunity to improve. We’ve worked in hospitality for decades, and this level of service was disappointing. We won’t be back, but we hope others are treated with more care in the future.
We’ve been in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, and I’ve never encountered a server as unprofessional as Kelly L. Her response to our concerns about the sushi was dismissive and completely lacking in customer service skills. To make matters worse, the manager questioned the gratuity we left—$60 on a $200 bill—which was generous considering the poor service. There were only four of us, yet an automatic gratuity was added without explanation. For the manager to then suggest we should have tipped more was truly unbelievable. This used to be one of our favorite spots, but after this experience, we won’t be returning. It’s disappointing to see such a lack of training and accountability in both service and management. Picture is of the “aggressive girl” Kelly said spoke to her. Lmao
The absolutely most unnecessarily confusing and rude place ever. Beware! Showed up in a great mood. 10 mins later I was questioning my existence and the state of humanity. I get it, I’m not a local, but does that mean instead of serving 10 people, 5 feet away from your restaurant at a picnic table, we have to wander around searching for the togo menu that is different from the inside menu and comes in a million plastic containers and bags. Awesome. All of your ketchup packets are covered in soy sauce. Chill out lady. Everything will be ok. Are you sure it wouldn’t have been easier just to have a waiter come a couple of feet over from your mostly empty establishment? Do you actually order this decor from a sarcastic rude customer sign catalog or just Amazon? Hopefully this review is as confusing as your service. Wouldn’t normally care enough to leave a review if it weren’t for the joy the staff seemed to have in saying NO to really simple requests. If I take this chair outside from a stack of inside chairs will the universe begin to unravel? Anyways a million thumbs down to your manager or whoever. 5 stars for the cooks but negative 20 for the owner and togo bar.
Left 2 rolls and an app out of my take out order. I called and spoke with them right away, they told us to come back in next time we're in town. Called today, Carolina was absolutely nasty. Told me Nancy wasn't in, there's nothing she can do and if I keep explaining myself "this isn't going to go well" do better west lake. You took close to 70$ from me for food I didn't get.
