Opinions de Kaiba Monterey Park
A colleague recommended coming here for lunch. They said it has been in business for many years, right near the Lincoln Hotel in Monterey Park. We ordered several dishes: ramen, a sashimi platter, and fried chicken nuggets. The ramen was amazing, I must say it's the best I've had in Los Angeles so far, without exaggeration. I've also tried those so-called Instagram-famous ramen places in Little Tokyo, which are pricey and their broth could make you question life. The sashimi was very fresh, with freshly grated wasabi that I absolutely loved. It's not too far from the office, so I'll definitely be coming back often.
Food was on point Steven gave us some recommendations and his favorites……they didn’t disappoint. We got some sushi some, spicy udon soup, monkey brain, spicy seafood udon which was so good. Waited about 15 minutes to be seated. Definitely recommend this place
I accidentally ended up going here after a massage just because it was close but it turned out to be amazing. Then a few times my friends said let's go to this amazing sushi spot and we ended up going here. Seems like everyone loves it.
I somehow managed to get here after intending to go to their other branch in L.A. The food was amazing, the rolls are very big, 1 or 2 portions are enough to fill someone up. Only 40 people can fit it the restaurant so be prepared to wait during peak times. It wasn’t busy when I came though. Parking is outside the shopfront or behind it, so park there and not in other places.
Kaiba Japanese Restaurant is absolutely outstanding. The ramen soup was unbelievably delicious — rich, creamy, and full of deep, authentic flavor. Easily one of the best ramen bowls I’ve ever had. The sushi was incredibly fresh, perfectly balanced, and beautifully presented. Every roll tasted amazing. The service was top-tier: very attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable. The staff gave excellent recommendations and made the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for high-quality Japanese food with amazing service, this place is a must-visit. Highly, highly recommended! I’ll be back 😎😍
My goodness what a great find this was! I love the Mexicatessen down the street and I've been going there for over a decade and somehow I've missed out on this for years. It's some of the tastiest Japanese food at a really great price. It's obviously got a ton of regulars in there and I can see why. The service is outstanding as well. The tempura was big fresh and crispy. The yellow tail neck was delicious and large. I really want to come back here often
Found Kaiba off of yelp! We ordered A LOT of food and drink for two: -draft beer $3.99 -house sake $2.99, a bit hard to drink -mango tango $8.99 -tokyo rose $8.99 -yellowtail carpaccio $13.99, really good -vegas roll $12.99, good, heavy on cream cheese -squid ring $12.99, not good, avoid -salmon carpaccio, do not get -tonkotsu ramen $13.99, good Jasmine was our server...and she was attentive and quick! Shoutout to her! Since the yellowtail was great...we decided the salmon carpaccio...but one bite and the sauce did not work with the fish at all. I had staff take it away...and they were attentive enough to take it off the bill which I appreciated. Overall bill was still over $100, but I had a great experience with food and drink (minus the negatives). Street parking...but I believe they might have some parking in the back. It definitely will get busy during peak hours!
I have passed by this place so many times. And now I have finally stopped in and given it a try. Even though I didn't have a sit-down meal but a take-out. The atmosphere of the place is small and intimate, and it can get busy. The wait staff were really nice and welcoming. Their prices were very reasonable and I do love their sushi 🍣. I highly recommend this place to any sushi lovers and first-timers to sushi. And just an FYI, this place also has cooked proteins too. For the non raw food eaters. 😁
The food is very tasty and our server (Jon) was very customer service oriented. He made our first time seem like we had been there before. Enjoyed everything there and don’t let the outside fool you as the inside is spacious and like others said a very good place to eat. They ensured you sat at a cleaned table! Ate the sizzling platter salmon steak which was really tasty and a good size piece!
Came here on a whim while running errands in the area. The portions here are HUGE. I ordered three specialty rolls - tempura Cali, hungry man, and the spider roll. The server said “It’s a lot of food, are you sure?” And I was like “Pffft. Challenge accepted. I haven’t eaten today.” DUDE. She was not kidding! As soon as I saw the first roll come out I knew I was in trouble. I think I still made a sizable dent (about half of each roll), but as you can see, the to go box is still packed full anyway. The service was fast and my server was very sweet. If you’re looking for large portions at a reasonable price point, this is the place. I’ll definitely be coming back, but maybe I’ll bring backup lol P. S. Pace yourself. I forgot how much rice expands when it’s in your stomach. I’m so full!!!
A little over priced Japanese food catered towards American consumers. They served good sized portions though. The flavors are really fusion-ish. It could be a good place to hang out for a few drinks after work. They do have happy hour special (99c small sake). Be advised, it could get packed really quick. We went at 1630 and were able to sit down right away. By 1700, there was already a line outside. Service is good and quick. There's a small size parking lot in the back, but there's also street parkings in the front.
Wife loves the ramen. I don't share the same enthusiasm as hers. Tried the chicken teriyaki for a change but the pepper overpowered the sweetness or teriyaki taste, but was able to taste the beef teriyaki & that did taste like teriyaki. Service is pleasant.
Tonkatsu ramen was a bit lacking—I would spend money on the rolls instead. The noodles didn’t have enough chew and the broth could have been richer. I’d say the entrees were average compared to my expectations from the high reviews. They do offer free ice cream in vanilla and green tea flavors with a yelp check-in (probably my favorite dish). Food came quickly and service was excellent.
A very solid sushi spot in Monterey Park with a great selection of sushi and rolls. I ordered their salmon burrito, green onion sesame chicken, soft shell crab & the Kaiba roll. The salmon burrito was way bigger than I thought and can probably feed two people. The salmon tasted fresh and it was overall solid entree. The sesame chicken was crispy and delicious. I tried it with the tempura sauce and it took it to the next level. The soft shell crab was also delicious and flavorful. Their signature roll was good but nothing out of the ordinary. Overall the lunch was very good and satisfying. Customer service was excellent and I’d definitely come back to this spot again to try their other menu items. Parking can be tough during peak times.
This is a place just to eat fast, the quality of sushi was good. The only thing I didn’t like it was you have to wait to get seated inside and they’re serving you so fast and quick. so you have to eat so fast and leave the table! so definitely not a nice place for date night or hang out. Also, don’t forget to sign up at yelp and get a free ice cream.
What a pleasant surprise Kaiba turned out to be! We’ve driven by many times but finally stopped by for lunch. There was 2 names ahead of our party of 5 but the time went quick and we were seated in about 15 minutes. The lunch special is such a deal! A bowl of ramen and side of sushi was more than enough and there is no “smaller” portion for lunch time specials. It’s just a plain and simple deal! The service was efficient, quick and friendly. In and out in a little over an hour without feeling rushed. We tried a few appetizers but really didn’t need that as we were all full from our own lunch sets! They made a lot of seating/dining area in a small space.
I ordered the takeouts by ubereat. Definitely big portions for the bucks. However, the fried tempuras tasted cold and not good. The sushis are okay. They are packed with flavors though. The rice quality is alright. Next time I shouldn’t order sushi by delivery because they’re not that good. 3 stars
We chose to visit Kaiba because they received a 4.6 in Google reviews and they were 15 minutes away from our hotel. The place was small and not in a cute cozy way, but in a cramped hectic way. Our table was near the kitchen and prep area for to go orders, so there was a lot of foot traffic. The staff was friendly, but too busy to really provide a warm welcome or reliable attention. There wasn’t a kids menu. I ordered my daughter their chicken teriyaki on a sizzling plate as well as a side of edamame and miso soup. I asked them to hold the sizzling plate and the bed of onions the chicken was served on. The chicken was cooked well and the teriyaki sauce was balanced. The miso soup and edamame tasted as expected; nothing really stood out. We tried their Kaiba roll (albacore, shrimp tempura, krab meat, cream cheese, red onion, cilantro, jalapeño in Kaiba sauce) and Fire roll (spicy krab meat, avocado, cucumber, spicy tuna, spicy crunch with fire sauce). Personally, I thought the rolls were too large; had to cut them in half to eat. We also thought the plates were too busy and had useless or excessive components. We didn’t even notice the fire sauce on the fire roll plate as it was underneath a mound of green onions. The albacore on the Kaiba roll looked old and was a tad dry. For both rolls, there should have been more focus on flavors and simplicity. Their Mango tango cocktail was deliciously dangerous. The flavor was amazing and it had a kick to it. I would come back only for this cocktail. We spent about $100 (including tip), but it was money wasted. I definitely left feeling full, but not satisfied.
