Opinions de Longten Cafe Monterey Park
Walked into this place, after attending Monterey Park's Year of the Snake event. The restaurant provides lunch specials ($11.99 or $12.99). For an additional $1.99, one gets to have an iced coffee or lemon tee. Food tastes good, and the portions are big. Will come back again, if I visit the neighborhood in the future.
Good Place/ Stupid Security Guard!!!! PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE STUPID SECURITY GUARD THAT IS RUDE BEYOND WORDS. He scared away so many customers. He was just rude!! Restaurant is great!!! I was told the landlord is worse!! I don’t want retaliation so I won’t post details. But, the restaurant is great. The security guard hassled us despite not having a Handicap parking or trash can on site. He used scared tactics that he’d arrest us with our elderly handicapped parents in the car. He should not be working there, actually not any where else either for that matter!!!
Great food. Great service. Easy parking Huge portions. Great price. Not too bad. Would come back again.
We have been to this good restaurant many times! I love getting their porridge. As a vegetarian, I feel as though there are a moderate amount of options for me. Lots of veggies and tofu. There is a large assortment of food to choose from and they also have great smoothies. We got our food really quickly too! Excited to try them for breakfast too - thank you so much!
Nice ambiance, good portion and tasty. All items are seasonably priced. I rather come here than Hong Kong Cafe or Alice's Kitchen
The service here is pretty good and friendly. Most other Hong Kong style cafe services are usually just so so. The breakfast set is very similar to other places while the portion is not as massive as Baccali Cafe or HK Cafe. But the taste is actually quite good. This is a good place to sit down with family and friends to catch up and chat. The vibe is open, clean, modern and bright. One of the condiments on each table is the chili oil which tastes fantastic! This place is kids and family friendly, they have high chairs and large tables for big groups.
Good Hong Kong Style Cantonese restaurant. Takes credit card Lots of parking downstairs belo Staff speak English, Cantonese, Mandarin #157-Beef Chow Fun with Dark Soy Sauce $12.95- this is the best dish here. Lots of Wok Hei, the char and caramelizing is super apparent. This place make the dish SoCal! #24-Diced Filet Steak French Style ($19.95)- excellent dish, cooked with high quality meat, soft and tasty. #141- seafood and bean curd in claypot ($15.95)- the flavor of the soup soaked into the tofu and mushroom. The seafood was nice and soft. Fried tofu with mushroom ($15.95)- fried tofu. Crispy outside and soft inside. #11-Pineapple bun (Bolo Bao) (3.95)- came out warm, with butter inside and it melted. Standard taste. Nice texture on outside.
Authentic Hong Kong style local lunches and dinners. Try their clay pot rice. Reasonable prices and friendly services
Super descent Hong Kong style restaurant. The pork bun is amazing! Cheese pork pasta is awesome too. I love their drinks, especially the milk tea and lemon tea. Highly recommend!
Brightly lit Hong Kong Cafe atmosphere, serving sweet tea and condensed milk with a menu longer than Cheesecake Factory. Alas, it is Longten Cafe!! The atmosphere is lively, clean, and looks newly remodeled. I tried 3 dishes when I went here! Braised pork belly in mustard greens, dried fish and chicken eggplant clay pot, and Hainan Chicken. First of all, the food came out SO quickly. The service was direct and to the point. Secondly, the food was delicious!!! Every one of them. Third, the prices!! Are so low comparatively to the other hk cafes in the area. All of this was under $35 if I recall correctly. The pork belly came with a bigger portion than I anticipated and paired well with bok choy. Usually I don't see it paired with bokchoy but was pleasantly surprised. Flavor is good. The fermented/dried fish eggplant had more chicken than I anticipated for a veggie focused dish; smell is strong but the taste has a lot of umami, especially if you want to try a very authentic Chinese dish. The pot kept the dish very hot the entire time. The eggplant was quite oily though because it was deep fried, but very good. Lastly, the Hainan chicken was a good portion. Came with pickled veggies and two delicious dips. I thought the chicken was fresh and had a nice bite, although you have to be fine with it authenticly chopped with bones (and you have to gnaw on it).
Great Cha chan tang compared with the junk in NorCal. Recommend the baked pork chop rice, minced beef over rice with egg, and pineapple bun with butter.

Phone called takeout for Lunch special 11am-5pm, $11.95-$12.95 is allowed! Usually lunch special is dine-in, but they do allow take-out!!! Rice is included if you order from entree B section. Takes credit card. Located inside Taipei Center, with underground parking. Their lunch schedule is not the best but it is affordable. Their lunch special menu might be smaller than other MPK canto restaurants but they are the cheapest in decent string beans, fried pork chop and cod filet though. We ordered $12.95 Items that include white rice: - Deep-fried Pork Chop With Spicy Salt. This dish is a must!!! Huge portions!!! And done decent. - Sauteed String Beans. This was decent. We'd order this again as our veggie dish due to being more of a string beans dish person vs bok choy. - House Special Pork With Preserved Vegetable. Eh. Not bad but not something for us. - Cod Filet With Black Bean. Okay. I can't complain since I like cod filet. There are $11.95 Noodle soup dishes but unsure if this place is good for soupy items? Their $12.95 Baked items looked promising though, typical canto cafe dishes. Next time, down to try $11.95 items like C1. Beef Chow Fun C8. BBQ Pork Fried Rice C9. Hainan Chicken Rice Or $12.95 items A6. Grilled Chicken Steak with spaghetti (vs rice). Tbd on what sauce but mushroom or black pepper are common picks vs garlic. B3. Salted Fish and Diced Chicken in Tofu Clay Pot. B8. Bok Choy with Garlic (if we aren't craving string beans). ---- For lunch specials in MPK area, we've rotate between these places. Ultimately we prefer takeout, reason we would consider Longten Cafe and Fuxing Springs -- 1. Taste of MP. Priced higher but offer higher quality. Don't allow call-in lunch special take-out. Their sauteed to certain fried dishes are all better than the other 2 places below. Dishes like $12.99 string beans, walnut shrimp, $14.99 Bitter Melon. $14.99 Seafood Chow mein with gravey, $15.99 Intestine dishes, etc. Their lunch special is full and filled with every typical lunch special dish...clams black bean sauce, beef tomatoes, fish flets ., tofu, etc. They aren't good with their sweet sour, eggplant sauce dishes though. 2. Longten Cafe. Medium tier priced and quality. Limited menu. - $12.95 fried pork chop, string beans, cod filet black bean sauce. TBD if any bake dishes with spaghetti or hanian chicken would be worth getting too next time. 3. Fuxing Springs. Cheapest in quality. But I guess we'll order here if we're going super cheap, and wanted to load up on more veggie type dishes. - Good for $9.99 L19. Bitter melon with chicken. Maybe $9.99 L25. Beef with string beans (not sauteed type, steamed). - I've yet to try other items like $11.99 L7. Stir fry Choy Sum with garlic, $13.99 L26. Beef and Broccoli. Or $14.99 pan to steamed fish. Their sweet, sour, or eggplant saucey stuff aren't good. 4. Last resort fast, affordable takeout (Chinese fast food) from Jiu Hao Can Ting. No lunch special but closes late at 9pm. Real Chinese fast food, not American Chinese fast food. They are probably better for their cold appetizers. But if you're picky like most 626 canto eaters, then this place and Fuxing might not be for you. Our senior parents like going to Red 99 or nearby another place for their lunch special instead...which are always packed with a wait. Taste of MP isn't on their radar too.
First time coming back here after it’s reopened 9months ago. This is a decent HK style cafe with all the usual dishes. It also serve breakfast in the morning. My first impression of this place was that interior is fresh and clean. The staffs were very friendly and efficient in serving us. The foods are very tasty and reasonably priced. Unlike other Canto cafes in the area. It’s lunch price for each dish is normally under $12. We got four dishes which included a pea sprout veggie, sweet and sour pork ribs, fried noodle, and a curry beef brisket. All of the dishes were in par with the HK standard. I was satisfied with the taste and authenticity. The ice lemon tea was very refreshing for a hot day in LA. We got ours with half sugar. There is an underground parking garage which was perfect for the hot day when we dined at this restaurant.
Longten is a Hong Kong-style cafe serving Cantonese Chinese food. I was here recently for lunch, so I took advantage of the weekday lunch special. Certain drinks (lemon tea, HK milk tea, coffee, etc) are only $1.99 and have one free refill. The entrees come with rice. Food is solid. I would come back. Plenty of parking in the underground structure. Street parking is also free.
The current restaurant did not do any remodeling from the previous tenant. It has high ceilings and tables are spread out so it felt spacious. Ribeye steak was nice, though unevenly cooked. Avoid the Wonton noodles as they lack the umami flavor real Hong Kong wonton noodles have. Both The broth and the wontons lack the addition of grounded dried flounder (大地鱼,干煸鱼). The broth lacks the fried shrimp shells commonly used in authentic HK wonton soup. Only 4 wontons left me feeling ripped off.

Salt and pepper porkchop was crispy and tender. Good family sized portion. (12.95) Beef chow fun had a lot of beansprouts. The beef was very tender. Noodles didn't have a strong wok flavor but the dish was still good. (12.95) The Hong Kong style milk tea had a strong tea flavor and is not very strong. They do have condensed milk available though so you can make your drink a little sweeter if needed. 2 refills are included. (Hot- 3.75)
(7/20/2023) Rated: 3.7 ⭐ Very good Lunch Special ($13+2 included drinks) and overall not expensive with individual orders. Service was very friendly even one of our food had problem. For the food, it was okay but not chicken steak for this time. (Not fresh at first, and It was better after getting the second one) I recommended small groups of people for lunch here (Not expensive), and probably here was okay lists in Cantonese restaurant.
Good food great pricing. 2 1/2 persons 3 plates 2 drinks $65 Stomach is happy, wife said its authentic and she is happy. Thank you
Food wise it was great! However when I paid, I used my card, and left a cash tip, bill was $40 and left $7 cash. I was then charged on my card $57 so in total there was a $24 tip they gave themselves. My suggestion is pay with cash. Don't use card.
Food took forever to arrive. Do not come early and wait at least till after 9 since they don't have pineapple buns till then or at least fresh ones. Portions are smaller than I expected but in the economy I understand. The noodles that came with the porridge tasted like party tray noodles (picture attached). The drinks, the same reason for the pineapple buns taste better after 9...I wonder why? It's pretty clean and the atmosphere seems pretty chill It's a great place to hang out and talk but the food and service could use improvement
