An excellent dinner at Oran Mor! We loved the bay scallop pasta special, the fennel orecchiette, the pimento grits, and the carrot cake dessert. Very cozy restaurant and bar on the second floor. Great service from Charlotte, highly recommend dinner here on your trip to Nantucket.

Great service! We enjoyed our meals and deserts, everything was delicious.

I think it's 4 stars. My partner thinks it's 5 so compromising to a 5. Overall, I think this place has great ideas but the execution is slightly lacking. The happy fizzy drink didn't taste of cardamom. It was also very alcohol forward. Roast oysters flavor was very good but a bit on the light side. When eaten with the milk bread it comes with (which was a bit undercooked) the bread overpowers(!) The flavor of the sauce Tomato salad was great. Fresh and refreshing. I would recommend that Fish tagine was a bit on the bland side. With the couscous, which was salted well, it works. Highly recommend the lobster pasta. Very flavorful. Tasty lobsters. It's mild and complex

Honestly the pics should speak for themselves - 10/10! Food was amazing, and so was the service! Cannot wait to come back here again! We started with espresso martinis, followed by an app which was some type of tomato dish, then the truffle pasta and duck. For dessert we had the chocolate donut thing. YUM!!!!

What a great menu! It took us forever to pick few dishes. We ended up ordering truffle beet salad, orecchiette and bucatini to share, fish tajine and dandelion risotto. Everything was delicious with a beautiful presentation

WOW! What an incredible culinary experience! Best meal I have had on Nantucket! Homemade Pasta dishes are out of this world. The roasted oysters are amazing! A must try - from the moment the hostess greets you to the exquisite server and a hands on owner that walks the room and assists in the service - old school all the way! We were walking by and begged the hostess for a table, she worked hard to find us something a a very busty Friday night, we were so grateful as it was the best meal we experience on the island.

Went here the other night and better than ever!! Ate at the bar which is a small cozy semicircle. The bartender had bottled cocktails he had made in accordance with the season-I had the Milestone Mule-delicious! Had the oysters bourguignon ..was a little hesitant about getting roasted oysters but they were in the best garlic sauce I’ve ever had and outstanding! For the meal had the truffle pasta which was out of this world! My husband got the octopus and pork belly and loved it. For dessert the Tally me Bannana was great..banana with chocolate and peanut butter flavors. Service was attentive and atmosphere very relaxing!

Absolute must visit in Nantucket. A local favorite and one of the best restaurants, hands-down, not only in Nantucket but holding its own with great restaurants in New York and Miami. Wonderful ambience, charm and service. Exceptional dishes, creative cuisine, beautiful presentation, distinct local ingredients and flavors.

Beautiful restaurant—we loved sitting in the middle room with only four tables. All three people in our party loved our dishes and drinks. We’re still talking about the food two days later! The service was great. We’ll certainly come back and would highly recommend.

This was one of the best meals I had in a long time. Great quaint place, great service. The kale Caesar salad was out of this world, and I typically don't like kale. The halibut was excellent. And the chocolate dessert, a perfect 10.

What a GEM of a place. My pictures do not do this food any justice 😂 We learned of Oran Mor from a ‘local’ that went on and on about how great the food was and boy was he right! The food here is out of this world good. Restaurant is warm and inviting. The bartender was filling in for someone on vacation and she was just sweet as could be. Next time we are in Nantucket my husband and I are beelining it to Oran Mor for that Truffle Buccatini. O.M.G

Great atmosphere and amazing service. Stellar food options I would recommend the kale salad and octopus for starters. The lobster pasta did not disappoint! Great nantucket find will be back again soon!

This restaurant is the promise of summer. Go! Wine list is wonderfully original and super drinkable. The advice is personal without pretense. BTW the food including this delicious imberico is over the top good. Fresh and delicious. Did I say go?!

Just had an outstanding experience here. After not having been to Oran Mor in years, I finally decided to give it another shot. Love the overall vibe here, and our food and drinks were excellent. The service, in particular, was above and beyond. Our server was extremely knowledgeable of the menu and provided us with helpful recommendations. Will definitely be returning with a group, and we’re looking forward to Stroll.

Great food and wine in an amazing atmosphere! The space is so cool you almost forget about the food this is a must in Nantucket!

Oran Mor is the culinary clarion call to be heard thundering out across the island from its seat at the gateway. Somehow it manages understated and unassuming when you enter but-- get ready, a giant awaits! In nearly a decade of my sampling across Nantucket, the chef at Oran Mor has both a demonstrable and an inarguable edge delivering some of the most sumptuous and technically challenging dishes I have encountered here. Whether it was the deft preparation of notoriously difficult octopus to the cheeky take on the Caesar and to harmonious application of foam, each bite is like a verse in an all too short and seductive koan. I honestly don't want to say anything else for fear I would spoil too much of the joy and creative energy you may experience in every subtle bit. The servers are thoughtful, quick, and funny at all the right moments. I cannot conceive of wanting anything more than what I received as fuel for a thoroughly romantic night that provoked deep and important conversations with the woman I love. Thank you for being you. Masterful.

Amazing food and service. One of the best meals we had on the island. Tomato appetizer was amazing and the peaches dessert was a great finish.

The truffle bucatini. best food I have ever had in my life (not exaggerating) (not even a little) Books should be written about it Possibly epics Ode to bucatini: Who overcame everyone in beauty? What prize drew the strong-armed men to fight tirelessly on the beaches of Illion? Not glancing-eyed Helen. Beautiful though she is, of all the treasures on the black earth, there is one the greater. This Truffle bucatini Which is much like ambrosia tasted only by the gods. Lol. Also shoutout Eric for being an awesome person who is a delight to talk to in getting even a small whiff of his deep passion for food

If I could, I would put the Atmosphere in 6/5. The place itself is so nice, very old-style. What I mean is like there is a candle on each of the tables, and from the outside it looks like a normal house. And inside, there is a bar and just a dining area for people who are going to eat. Everything is wooden; the tables, the walls, the ceiling. Where I sat, instead of chairs, it was more like a couch. There were pillows and cushions, so it was very comfy. The service was so nice! Our waitress was really kind and patient. The food was really good for the price too. We spent around $300-400, for 3 people. I got the bison short rib. Super good! Smoky, juicy, perfect. All in all, go here if you want good food!

I cannot recommend this place enough! Honestly the best restaurant my fiancé and I have ever been to. We’ve travelled around quite a bit but this place is special. The chef Edwin is talented, knowledgeable and so kind. Our waitress Whitney was so lovely and recommended her favorite dishes and dessert. She’s worked here for 5 summers so we happily listened and ordered many of the recommendations! The halibut and fluke were cooked to perfection. The dandelion risotto is in my top 3 favorite foods of all time. My fiancé liked the risotto so much he ordered an entire separate side of it. The strawberry ice cream was so good it’s indescribable. 1000/10 recommend. The staff seem so happy to work here which speaks volumes!

We ate dinner at Oron Mor, and it was one of the best meals we’ve ever had in the past 18 years on Nantucket Island. We dined with our children. We had the duck, the barbecue smoked chicken, the black bass, and the truffled bucatini.

From the moment we stepped foot into the restaurant to the final remarks made as we descended the staircase out, Oran Mor is a standout restaurant amongst the fine dining options on the island! In terms of service, the entire staff was exceptional! Our waiter Martin truly took the time to ensure we had a pleasurable experience amidst the social distancing guidelines in place. Not only that, his recommendations were spot on, and we enjoyed every dish that came out. For appetizers, the octopus and pork belly dish was to die for! For entrees, the fish special, duck, and black truffle pasta were each standalone delicious creations. If you care for thoughtful and exquisite food, come here! Also, make sure to save room for dessert as you won’t regret it! First time here, but certainly won’t be the last.

Being a foodie - I have tried quite a few restaurants. I must say, so far, this has been the best experience we've had. Staff was attentive and knowledgeable. The food was absolutely amazing. Every dish felt like it had a personal touch and was made with actual care and not just to serve. The wine selection was also very good. We will definitely be back.

I’ve been in the restaurant business for 30 years. I’m incredibly discerning and live to eat. I usually don’t expect much from Nantucket restaurants, based in many years of eating there. But man, this dinner knocked it out of the park. Truly probably the best dinner I’ve had on ACK in as long as I can remember. Charming space, super friendly service from greeting to goodbye, and superb work from the kitchen. And given all the things that make it so hard to run a restaurant on the island, from staffing to supply chain issues, even more important. Thank you for making my dinner with my sister so fantastic.

Unbelievable experience tonight for dinner. Service was excellent and the food was spectacular. Highly suggest sharing everything. We were able to take so many of the amazing appetizers we got the Kale Caesar which was fantastic and had a lemon-y twist! We got the octopus & pork belly that was so tasty and the beautifully plated Peas & Wildflowers! We shared the bucatini, ribeye & the duck! Each dish was so flavorful and was a great portion size. We ended up getting an amazing special for dessert with hazelnuts and a flourless chocolate tart. It was out of this world. I have to say this is by far one of the best dining experiences of my life! I was so pleased with the experience!! Highly recommend.

Sooo good. A bit understaffed when we went but it didn’t even matter bc everything was so tasty. I recommend the flaming daisy and the blue cheese pasta with dates if they have. It was amazing. The smoked chicken quarter was to die for. And the dessert risotto pairs perfectly with after dinner coffee. I’m definitely eating here again

Very delightful dinner. Food was fantastic. We did not have a reservation but we were able to get a table near the bar and our server was a true delight! Going back soon!

Year after year, my favorite place. It must hurt their hearts to put their beautiful food in boxes, but we did the curbside pickup tonight (kale salad, fennel pasta and fish tagine) and it was great. Hope to be back in the dining room again soon!

Quaint French bistro that is approachable but nails all the Michelin dishes for the cuisine. Was not a restaurant that was recommended to us on our visit to Nantucket but was a far better experience than those that were.

My two sisters and I dined at Oran Mor and from the moment we arrived until dessert was finished the service and food was impeccable. Appetizers, pasta, main courses of halibut and fish tagine were all excellent.

My meal was wonderful and honestly so worth it! I had so much lobster in my lobster gemelli. The pasta was perfectly Al dente and flavor was on point. Will definitely come back the next time I'm in Nantucket.

Seasonal menu, so have fun off this recommendation, but Pam was absolutely out of this world with service. Drinks are great, mood is to the liking of your fancy night, and I have to say venison and halibut dishes were above the rim. Drinks were fabulous. Thank y'all. Will be back next visit!

Continues to be one of the best kitchens in Nantucket. Creative starters, delicious local seafood, great wine list. Expert waitstaff. Must book ahead. The venue gets quite loud.

If you're looking to experience a traditional New England-style restaurant, this spot in Nantucket is a must-visit. Set in a historic house, it enhances the dining experience by complementing the local cuisine with a charming atmosphere. The menu prioritizes local ingredients, which is a nice touch. We tried the fried oysters, black bass, and buffalo meat. Each dish was decent, prepared in a way that didn't overpower the natural flavors, allowing us to appreciate the freshness of the fish and the richness of the meat. However, the seasoning was quite conservative, leaving the dishes somewhat memorable but not particularly standout. Expect to pay a bit more due to its touristy location, but it's reasonable given the setting and ingredient sourcing. The cocktails were quite enjoyable, not too strong but well mixed. Overall, while the food was good, a little more boldness in flavor could make it unforgettable.

S
Stacey McKenzie

Great place with Intimate atmosphere. Drinks are great. Food for most of it taste delicious. Some of the dishes are overpriced for the their size. I love that they change the menu every season. They also have speciality every night

M

Good food , ambience and amazing drinks but menu hasn't changed for years , need to do something about it , we have been having the same food over and over again. And they used to have the best dessert on the island but their pastry chef left a year or so ago and unfortunately have to say not so much anymore, still would recommend it if u haven't been there but for us we need to take a break until they make some menu updates

We have been dining here since it opened and love it. We took our family here tonight. Everything was lovely except the food. It was so heavily salted that we could hardly eat it. I'm referring specifically to the potato and risotto preparations. Please cut back on the salt. It kills the flavor of the food and is so unhealthy.

So I’d heard of the reputation and was looking forward to enjoying our meal together as a group of 6. To be very honest I was pretty disappointed with the food, especially with the cost of the check. I will say the service was excellent, and our server was top notch. I also enjoyed the wine. The food for me was subpar. They were doing a prix fixe for Stroll and I had clams with spaghetti as an appetizer. While the clams and sauce were very good, the pasta was meh. My venison entree was ok and my wife (a real dessert person) didn’t even finish her apple dessert (unheard of!!). We had a great night because we enjoyed each other’s company, but as for the food I felt it didn’t live up to what we were paying for. Sorry, I wanted to love it but have to be honest.

After all of the recent great reviews, we gave Oran Mor a go for the first time in a few years. Best dish was the octopus. The tomato salad offered under-ripe tomatoes with a flavorless pasta. The roast chicken's skin was not properly crisped (it was pale and mushy). The bison was on the boring side and the short rib was dried out and under-flavored. On the bright side, our server was very pleasant and Stephanie, the somm, was cheery, helpful and constructive. We had a great cocktail and a solid bottle of red. The bar area is lively (loud), so make sure you ask about your table assignment when making your reservation. Every kitchen can have an off night, so we will likely give it a 2nd go this month.

Just here 2 days ago. Shared one app with my wife and we agreed it was just ok. My wife liked her dish. My Herb Roasted Chicken Ballotine was cold and uncooked. It was more than pink and close to the red side in the center. It goes without saying I did not eat... :-(

On the last night of a fabulous Mother’s Day getaway to Nantucket, my daughter arranged for us to dine at Oran Mor. It is a Bistro with supposedly fine dining. But the wait staff were the worst I’ve ever encountered in a so-called top tier restaurant. The server was dour. The host/server’s assistant was supercilious. Neither appeared competent enough to distinguish field greens from romaine lettuce. Both my daughter and I ordered a Caesar salad. We were served a bowl of field greens with Caesar garnishes of croutons and cheese shavings. I was relieved that the salad came with vinaigrette instead of Caesar dressing. But what a miss! As the server put the salad before me, I asked him what was in the bowl? He said he was serving the kale salad. When I asked if this wasn’t supposed to be a Caesar salad, he answered that yes it was a Caesar. There was not one crunchy piece of romaine in the dish. I started to send the dish back and flee the restaurant. But this was our last night on the island and my daughter had taken time to select the restaurants for our visit. I didn’t want to spoil the last night over a bowl of greens. But I wish we had left. My main course of chicken Ballotine arrived nestled in peas puree instead of the potato crème-fraiche puree listed on the menu. There were also baby yellow and red carrots, and pearl onions on the plate. A bland white sauce was dribbled over everything. But the advertised parsnips, shitake bacon and sausage that could have made the dish savory were not included. The chestnuts that could have added needed texture also were missing. The dish was also supposed to be served with cranberry compote, which the meal dearly needed to add complexity and depth. But no compote was delivered with the meal. I was out of the door before I remembered why the dish was such a disappointment. Like the salad order, the wait staff didn’t appear to realize what was missing either--- or just didn’t care. It was an expensive dining experience, but not a rich one. In this case, Mor was less.

One of the worst meals I have had. I was so excited to dine at Oran Mor. What a disappointment it was. The food was below acceptable. The salad had no taste, thrown in a plate with dressing lined around the plate. The tagine , which certainly was not one- has 0 taste, included a tasteless piece of fish thrown in a curry type of sauce. A miniature dish was served with couscous again, with no flavor. I was hopeful for dessert. We tried the carrot cake which was just awful. Served as 2 round small servings, looking nothing like carrot cake. The berries and cream - frozen-like berries in some sort of cream. Reddi-whip or coolwhip would have been better! Service - just there. Certainly not what one would expect from a decent restaurant There are so many fantastic restaurants on Nantucket. Don’t bother with this one.

M
Michael Mahoney

The food was ok and they maybe gave you enough for an 8 year old child and each plate was $35 dollars ish. We came in hungry and we left hungry. The service was standard - nothing too special. The atmosphere was also just fine. There are plenty of other prettier places in Nantucket. They serve 2 pretzel bites to the table as the “free” appetizer but apparently they count how many you eat because we asked for 2 more to the table and they cut us off unless we wanted to pay $4 for the bites. Unimpressed.

T
Timothy Flynn

Stroll night reservations needed. We went through the reservation and left a credit card. Arrived on time 8:45 only to wait 25 minutes with no end in sight. The chef owner who was unapologetic for a family of four with a reservation only claimed people were having desert. The attitude was worse than the disappointment in having a reservation that was not honored.

M
Marty Coyne

Sat for 530pm reservation with my wife, first in months. Looking forward to quiet conversation. One person party seated next to us at two person corner table who proceeds to get on FaceTime speakerphone and loudly give others directions despite sideways glance from us and zero commentary from staff. The lost person shows up. So far, par for the entitled Nantucket day trippers. Then two drunk people show up as companions to the first - they’re not eating but manspreading - take over corner next to our table (also for only two people; now up to four, in between tables) and proceed to have a raucous reunion, share pictures of all the Cisco Brewery cocktails they had today, knock stuff over, all while staff did nothing. Only when the table next to them was seated did they ask the Cisco Brewery diaspora to get up and leave - apparently our seated party was of no consequence. Instead of asking the extras to leave they offered to move us. No - paying customers with a reservation trump hangers on. You ask THEM to move and go bother others, perhaps at Charlie Noble. Instead, the drunken non customers accost us on the way out after dropping 500 bucks - a frat style confrontation on the way out (“how dare you call us obnoxious”) with a drunken non customer. If you want a Chicken Box 1am atmosphere and freshman college drama with five star food, prices, service, and a winelist at 530pm this is your place. Otherwise, go to the Box and grab a well drink and some fries. Some of us are looking for a nice night out, not a drunken trip down Cisco Brewery lane. 500 dollar dinner and can’t even have a normal conversation - you’re better off at Millie’s. At least you know the food will be good for half the cost, and won’t be surprised (or disappointed) you can’t hear anyone talk across the table. And frankly? College student staff will actually say something to obnoxious folks who just plunk themselves down at a table (and order nothing) minus a reservation instead of smiling at customers paying a few hundred bucks whilst doing nothing.

L
Liz

We made a reservation online a month in advance. Called to adjust the time the woman said she would call us back, never did. Called to confirm the appointment and found out instead of adjusting the time she canceled our reservation and was very rude and unaccommodating. They did say we could sit outside at 5:15 but that was the only time they could offer a table for two. We have eaten there 5 times and the food is good but not worth the horrible service. Too bad that one rude employee can be so off putting that we will never go back.

i
ivy cubell

Failed to Honor Reservation We had a confirmed reservation for an outdoor table for a special occasion for over a month. When we arrived for dinner, we were told that they did not have an outdoor table available and it would be an hour wait. The staff at the front of the house admitted that they never read the reservation request. They texted me the day before to ask ME to confirm my reservation, but they did not take the care to do the same. We walked out. There are better restaurants on Nantucket where you don’t have to put up with incompetence
