What a gem this place is! We've been coming to the island for years and came recently to celebrate our anniversary. I never knew this was here and it is seriously my new favorite restaurant on the island. Pricey? Sure, but everything on the island is and at least here you get a beautiful view of the harbor and private beach/marina! I think it's the only spot in Vineyard Haven with a water view aside from Black Dog (which is subpar and basic) and the dining rooms are gorgeous with what looked like a view from almost every table. I was a bit nervous because I saw a few negative reviews claiming the "place was a dump" and "not on the water"??? Obviously these were posted by a disgruntled employee or guest as all of the reviews had the same last name and what they said couldn't be farther from the truth. Don't be fooled, the food was fantastic and service was on point. Thank you Garde East, we will be back year after year!!

Food is amazing and Ari is very personable and patient with my father who was extremely interested in in-depth cultural conversations about foreign countries. Would 100% recommend - ask for Ari who may just be your best friend by the end of the meal!

Great place for a drink on the beach, we loved the set up! Had extremely great service provided by Geila.

OMG, this place is excellent -- the service is excellent, the food is excellent, the outdoor seating is excellent, the views are excellent. If you love dining, Garde East is the best restaurant on this side of the island.

Exceptional dining right on the water. The service and food is phenomenal with a great wine and drink selection. Highly recommended and make your reservations and enjoy dinner listening to the waves and an awesome selection of background music.

We were on the Vineyard for the very first time! Some locals recommended Garde East for us and they were SPOT ON! We loved every second we were there, the hospitality from the host, the general manager Madeline and all her team, our server Ari who is charming and efficient. Food was incredible thank you chef! Oh, and the view is incredible. We will definitely be returning!!!

Had a wonderful experience here recently. Everything we had and I mean EVERYTHING was delicious. Loved the Lobster Cavatelli and the drinks were amazing. The view is gorgeous, but the highlight of my night was the staff by far. We were greeted by Kade who was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, and our server Ari was amazing. He had some awesome recommendations for both food and drink. The GM Madeline stopped by to make sure our night was going well which was very much appreciated, and we were sure to tell her how amazing our night was going. Overall an amazing experience and we certainly will be back for the amazing food, atmosphere, and staff.

Garde East is one of the best restaurants that we have gone to on the island last year and we are so excited and cannot wait for it to open for the season this year! The staff was super informative, the food was extremely delicious and the General Manager Madeline was extremely attentive to all of our needs. From start to finish our experience there was fantastic. Leave aside the amazing view everything else was also to die for!

Five stars isn’t enough! We had the best dinner tonight celebrating a personal achievement, and everything about the experience was unforgettable. From the moment we arrived, the service was impeccable—Isak and Geila went above and beyond. Attentive, warm, and genuinely caring, they made us feel so special. What amazing staff! The ambiance was perfect, and then came the food… wow. The scallops were perfectly seared and full of flavor, and the oysters were fresh, briny, and absolutely delicious. Every dish was thoughtfully prepared and beautifully presented. Garde East is amazing, and I will come here again and again and again. An unforgettable night—thank you!

We had an incredible dining experience on 7/4/23 at Garde East. The picturesque waterfront location with stunning views of the harbor never disappoints. The restaurant strives to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere. Even on a stormy/rainy night the staff went out of their way to accommodate our party of six. The menu features a variety of dishes inspired by seasonal/local ingredients prepared with creativity. The service was top notch, a special thank you to the manager, Kat & Sarah our server and the Meg the amazing bartender on staff that evening. You truly made our family night out special & memorable. Can't wait to visit you again.

This place is the GEM of the island! Likewise, their service is the best we have received in a very very long time. All of the staff are very polite and friendly, and attend dutifully to their customers needs. The hostess Geila was phenomenal!Our server Ari, continually checked in with us and ensured we were taken care of even in the midst of the dinner rush when it would have been very easy for someone to forget you are even there!The best service we have received on this island in 2024! We sincerely appreciate the sincere hospitality presented by them! Really, I can't recommend Garde East enough! We will be coming back!

I have been going to Garde East for a long time but this year feels different! From the food being amazing to the view being the best on the island as per always I don't know were to start and were to end! The service was amazing, attentive and professional. Special shoutout to our server Ari who did an amazing job. We also had the chance to meet the GM, AGM and the Head Chef who are absolutely amazing and it makes so much sense that this place is phenomenal and the food is immaculate!

Garde East in Vineyard Haven was an oasis on a misty, overcast but lovely summer day in the vineyard. I did a quick search hoping to find a nice place for lunch in the midst of the Covid craziness. Garde East’s mediterranean tasting menu held the most promise and it did not disappoint. It’s a large, charming establishment right on the water with multiple open air but covered balconies and fantastic views. We sampled a number of absolutely delightful family shareables. The locally sourced cheese plate was yummy and the family salad was so fab that we also ordered a second! Great drink and wine selection. They weren’t super busy for lunch, so my nieces and I appreciated Patrick and Tyler’s extra attention and service. So glad we tried this “new favorite” spot! Great for lunch, dinner, families, friends and very special occasions.

Ate dinner there last night and had the best time. The service was amazing thanks to Anjeza and Dhimitri who made our girls dinner so memorable. Would absolutely go back!

Amazing brunch on Sunday! Lobster Florentine was perfection. Zoë took good care of us with nautical coffees and champagne. You can’t beat the view at this hidden gem. We need to come back for docktails in the sand.

Beautiful spot for dinner. Upstairs outdoor deck is scenic. Waitstaff is very attentive. The menu items we selected were all flavorful and prepared to perfection! Albeit the portion sizes were faintly underwhelming. But no fuss the food is terrific and fresh! On-site parking is tight and limited. Best to park in lots across the street.

Exquisite seafood. Every entree my party tried was amazing, with the scallops and halibut as standouts. Relaxed, upscale atmosphere right by the water. We'll be back next time we're on the Vineyard.

We decided to dine at Garde East for dinner after a great interaction with the hosts earlier in the day. While the lunch menu didn’t quite fit what we were looking for, the staff was so friendly and offered fantastic recommendations for other spots. We returned for dinner, and we weren’t disappointed. The waterfront view was spectacular, but the real highlight was the exceptional service. Isak and the manager went above and beyond to make sure we were well taken care of. When one of our dishes didn’t meet expectations, they were quick to address it with professionalism and care, ensuring that the rest of our meal was flawless. It’s rare to experience such attentive, thoughtful service, and it truly made the evening memorable. We’ll definitely be back!

We had an exceptional experience at Garde East, we need to make sure this restaurant is on our heavy-rotation list. Every dish was exceptional, service was perfect, and the view is perfect. I especially love how bright an airy it is, and how there are several dining rooms so it doesn't feel like you're fighting to have a conversation over so many other tables. The food took a bit longer than they had anticipated...honestly we didn't even notice, we had a great time, but they proactively comp'd items for us which was not necessary but so appreciated.

This is a magical place!! The food was delicious! The servers were attentive, warm, and friendly! And the atmosphere is wonderful. The restaurant manager, Phoebe, couldn’t have been more pleasant. She is beautiful and was exceptionally welcoming to us as guests! Garde East was a great dining experience and we will be back!

Had the greatest time with my family! Our server, Dhimiter from Albania, was fantastic, and the Steak Frites, Pan Seared Bass, and Farro Risotto with Scallops were all delicious. Dhimiter went above and beyond to make us enjoy the experience! Best view in the island! Can’t wait to come back!

I am truly floored by the experience we had at Garde East. We were celebrating our honeymoon and the staff made us feel so special. Our server Anjeza was amazing. She took our photo, brought me a shawl when it got chilly and took so much time to make sure we were having a good time. The sommelier spent time chatting with us and made sure to help us pick a great bottle of wine (when we had no idea what we were doing). Even the GM came by to say hello. And not to mention the food was incredible! We highly recommend the Beet Gnocchi.

Stopped by for a late lunch and was so happy we did! The view, the service (Dimitri, our server, was the perfect balance of attentive yet not clingy) and the food were all outstanding. My friend and I split the ribeye sandwich and the tuna bahn mi. Will absolutely be back again, this gem is certainly not to be missed.

Patricia was our server and she was such a delight. The food was absolutely amazing and decently priced. The Tuna Poke was a chefs kiss, along with the truffle chips. The vanilla ice cream with olive oil and truffle was to die for. The atmosphere was beautiful and such an amazing view of the marina. I absolutely love Garde East and would definitely recommend to everyone visiting the island.

Her recommendations were spot-on, and she made us feel so welcome from the moment we sat down. The setting was pure Vineyard magic—watching the boats in the harbor as the sun set made for such a romantic and serene atmosphere. I had the sea bass and my husband had the Artic Char and I absolutely loved his dish. Definitely order the Scallop Crudo too! It paired well with the spicy watermelon mocktail Phoebe created for me. Highly recommend Garde East for a special night out—you won’t regret it!

THE VIEW!!!! My partner and I were able to experience a day on the Vineyard and Garde East is a must see! We started with cocktails on the beach and then were moved to a table overlooking the marina and water for our evening dinner! We were able to watch the sunset while drinking the best Champagne I've ever had (the wine list is massive with so many options). We ordered the fish of the day which was extremely fresh and delicious as well as the Steak Frites which was cooked to perfection. The staff was by our side every step of the way, if we were not sure what we wanted they were quick to recommend options to our specification which did not disappoint. Madeline the GM also was able to pair wines with our selections without hesitation and was extremely warm and welcoming to us during our time there! 5 out of 5 stars!

It was our first time dining at the Garde East and it was absolutely amazing. We had a gorgeous view of the Vineyard Haven Harbor. Our lovely server Patricia was very attentive and her recommendations were exquisite (goat cheese and carrots were to die for, so was the truffled ice cream!). Had an amazing experience and would absolutely recommend it to island visitors!

A hidden gem in Vineyard Haven. We had early appetizers and their specialty cocktails. Great on both, particularly the cocktails. Combine that with a view of VH Harbor (see pic) and you have a lovely afternoon. We’re finding time for a dinner. Strong recommendation: go!

We went to this restaurant during the July 4th Holiday Weekend this year and we had a very good experience, the service gave us the flavor of an owner-managed and served restaurant, we felt like part of the "family" which is not common nowadays. Food was very good, the atmosphere was a little bit quiet for me taste, although the place the location and the view was very nice. And as many things in Martha's and in Boston area lately, the menu is a little pricey but worth trying it for sure!

Reservations for 7 pm, they were delayed, but we had no problem ordered a bottle of wine and were content, actually delighted, with all the excitement of the president being there. He left and we were still with only a bottle of wine at 845 pm. We finally ordered our entrees that were ok! But underwhelming (pictured below). We really wanted a special experience for our anniversary, but mostly felt ignored with no apology for being there for 3 hours.

Besides the beautiful view and amazing ambiance for a nice quiet lunch. Two of the three items we ordered were not great. The tuna was great! The seasonal crudo seemed like it was just thrown together and nothing felt harmonious. The lobster roll was a disappointment, the lobster was fresh but the preparation was lacking. Service was nice and did a good job.

Food was overpriced and portions were small. Dinner plates did not come at same time. Wait staff did not refill water glasses. First time this was a disappointment. We had been very pleased in the past. Setting is lovely but otherwise would no longer recommend it.

I ordered a chicken entree for dinner and all they gave me was a drumstick and some veggies that didn’t taste very good and some yellowish mashed potatoes. It was very disappointing and unbelievable that the portions were so small. Would not recommend it. Shame on whoever decided that it’s okay to make the drumstick for a chicken entree dinner and some cheesy veggies to go with it . I rather go to Panda Express or Panera.

Service and atmosphere was great. Unfortunately due to the food I will never be back nor would I recommend to anyone else. For the price you expect a high end meal. Drink was marketed as a tequila pomegranate cocktail but was very clearly grenadine. Again for being a high end restaurant I was expecting actual pomegranate instead of what ended up a tequila sunrise. The food was borderline inedible because there was no flavor and half the plate was charcoal. I was really disappointed because our server was awesome and it is in a beautiful place just can’t justify the price whatsoever. If I were to come back I would only go for the seating along the beach and maybe get a drink.
