My friend and I had dinner here tonight and thought that it was a lovely experience. Our server, Vivian, was so sweet and even replaced dishes for us that weren’t to our preferences, even though we didn’t ask them and they totally didn’t have to either. We started with the pear and arugula salad and the salmon crudo that were both refreshing. We initially ordered the nine seasons spicy prawns and crispy brussel sprouts, which were the dishes that weren’t to our preferences (one too sweet and one too salty for us). We replaced it with the miso salmon that ended up being delicious. The outside was just crispy enough and the inside tender. We also ordered the baked Alaska dessert which was a fun one to try! Our table neighbors ordered the Peking duck and said it was amazing so we will definitely be back to try that! Thank you again to Vivian if you see this!
My husband and I visited last night for an early Valentines Date and had the best experience! The ambiance walking in the door is beautiful, excellent vibes for a nice night out! We were seated right at reservation time and greeted by our super friendly and funny waiter Justin who had all the best recommendations! We were also served by Matt, Cam and John who were a fantastic team and so personable! We ordered the strawberry and watermelon margaritas and they were fabulous and ready the second we were. After great recommendations from Justin we ordered chicken lo mein, duck spring rolls, veggie dumplings, sweet and sour chicken and crispy Brussels (for the variety, of course 😎) and closed the evening out with the baked Alaska which is fun to order and so delicious! We will absolutely be back and we’re so grateful for such an amazing experience!
Aesthetically pleasing asian restaurant, located in the trendy Pullman region of downtown Nashville that was recently opened in late 2025. Amazing duck and fried rice offerings, as well as unique lo mein dishes. Unfortunately, the sweet & sour chicken was one of the items that did not meet the expectations. Service was amazing as well! Shoutout to Justin for managing the chaos of our party! He kept tabs on our complicated orders and continued to ensure we had everything we needed. Very impressed with his quality of service!
I just moved here, so my mom and I came here to celebrate at the grand opening yesterday. Our experience was amazing! Shayla was our server, and she went above and beyond. She was attentive, outgoing, and friendly and made the best menu recommendations. We tried the scallion milk bread, chicken dumplings, beef satay, jasmine rice, king salmon crudo, and waygu bone marrow tartare. As the first guests, we also got a special treat (tiramisu eggroll) and welcome! First off, the scallion milk bread was so addicting!! The xo butter was chef’s kiss. (I still dream about that bread haha) The dumplings were hot and delicious, and the king salmon crudo was extremely fresh and vibrant. The beef satay was tender, and the rice was fresh and fluffy. The waygu was melt-in-your-mouth too. The tiramisu eggroll, as someone who loves tiramisu, was fantastic! The atmosphere and service was fantastic, and everyone greeted us and stopped by to see how we were doing and how we liked the food. The interior was stunning, and the music wasn’t overly loud either. We can’t wait to come back again! Thank you for making my first night one to remember!
Philippe Chow Nashville did not disappoint. From the moment we sat down, the experience felt elevated yet approachable-exactly what you want for a special night out. We started with the arugula and pear salad, which was beautifully balanced-fresh, crisp, and lightly sweet. The baked Alaskan wonton soup was comforting and rich, with incredible depth of flavor. For mains, the vegetable lo mein was anything but ordinary—perfectly cooked, savory, and generous enough to share. The short ribs were tender and flavorful, and the Peking duck was the true standout: expertly prepared, indulgent, and absolutely worth ordering. Every dish felt intentional, polished, and satisfying. Service was attentive without being intrusive, and the overall ambiance made it an ideal date-night spot or celebratory dinner. We'll absolutely be back—Philippe Chow has officially earned a permanent spot in our Nashville dining rotation.
Was super excited to visit. Normally nervous about new restaurants but this place is amazing. Our server, Sandra, was top notch, the food exceeded expectations and the menu is very diverse. You HAVE to get the staple items: Dumplings, fried rice, bok choy, and Orange Chicken. And if a restaurant serves Peking Duck, you have to get it. Will be back very soon!!!! Bar area very lively and the private dining area is perfect if you want quiet.
Spent my 54th birthday at Philippe Chow and they didn’t disappoint!! We enjoyed some of their signature drinks as well as the Peking Duck. Dessert was amazing too. All in all a great evening with my family!
Phillipe is visually stunning, I walked around a couple times to take it all in. The place was full, people were streaming in, many quite dolled up. It was a very festive scene on their seventh night open. We did not have the duck, but seemingly every third table did so we got to see the carving and smell the delightful aromas. All of the dishes we had were tasty, well prepared and delivered professionally. The music system is top notch, everywhere in the restaurant the sound quality is excellent. Unfortunately, the music was both too loud and in a style that I do not think best accompanies dining, digestion and conversation. Our server, who was lovely, explained that the music was meant to evoke a "New York" vibe. I have probably had 100 meals in NYC restaurants, some of the best, and this is simply not the case. I hope they turn it down a bit and change styles (not Country !!) to something more soothing.
Had an amazing first experience. Great food! The duck spring rolls and pear salad were my favorites. Our bartender Clay was very helpful in helping us select delicious food items as well as the whip up some delicious cocktails! I definitely recommend dining here!
We are Nashville locals and had the best meal in the most beautiful of restaurants, Philippe Chow, that we’ve ever had in the Nashville area last weekend at their soft opening! My personal favorites were the dumplings, all of the tartars & crudos( Raw Bar), Vegetable Lo Mein & Kung Pao chicken ( if you love spicy, these dishes were out of this world! 🤌). The Chateaubriand was cooked to perfection, absolutely delicious! And my husband said the Wagu NY Strip was the best steak he’d ever had! To top it all off, the Tiramisu was heavenly! A must have if you visit this gem! The cocktails were delicious, with our favorites being the lychee martini and the Philippini. A huge thank you to chef Lance, as well as all of the talented chefs and wonderful servers at Philippe Chow for making it a beautiful and memorable dining experience and evening! 🤩👏🥂
Place to impress and be impressed!!! I’m a spoiled young woman from NYC who appreciates classy places with great energy and exceptional food. To my pleasant surprise, Philippe Chow checked all the boxes and exceeded my expectations. The restaurant is stunning, the service is amazing, and the food is delicious. I’m usually not a cocktail person, but their lychee martini was outstanding - as were the appetizers, main course, and dessert. While visiting Nashville, I’ve dined at many of the city’s restaurants, but this is the kind of place that sets the bar high. I’d highly recommend it to anyone who values quality, attention to detail, and a wonderful dining experience. Whenever I’m in Nashville, this will be my go-to spot without a second thought.
The swankiest Chinese restaurant with flavors to match. Sat at the bar for dinner & Fred was the best! Will definitely be back.
So delicious! Our server Gray was amazing!! We will be back soon! Sweet and Sour Chicken 10/10! The baked Alaska is a MUST!!!
Amazing!!! We had a great experience! We loved the shrimp fried rice, sweet and sour chicken and shrimp pecans! And our server Sandra was very helpful and fun! We will be bacn
Great food and great service. Our server Sandra was probably the best server in Nashville to date. All the food was delicious and we had 0 leftover to take home. My husband and I ordered a couple of apps, dumplings, steak and green beans (don’t sleep on this), Miso salmon, rice and dessert. Sandra made great recommendations, times out our meal to not be rushed and enjoy and always had our glasses filled.
Amazing food and even better service! The prawns and sweet & sour chicken are absolute must-tries — both were incredible. Cameron and our server were attentive and helpful all night, even bringing us extra drinks without us having to ask. Such a great experience from start to finish. Highly recommend!
We went in around 7pm on a monday and didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat us at one of the hightop tables. The ambiance was nice and the music was very fitting. We got a few apps and a couple entrees to share. My girlfriend got the yellowtail crudo and was phenomenal. Our waiter recommended the wagyu steak and was too good! the schezwan sauce had a nice bold flavor. We finished with the banana creme brulee. Rehan gave us amazing service and will definitely be back!
Jaslyn was amazing from the beginning to the end. She explained everything was very attentive to every allergen at the table. She was exceptionally attentive we never had to ask for a refill. I can’t say enough great things about our experience. Will definitely be back and asking for Jaslyn as our server.
The food was amazing and the only thing better was the amazing service we received from Jaslyn! She was absolutely fantastic, so attentive and knowledgeable and made it dining experience next level! This was one of the best dining experiences and I would highly recommend anyone to come and enjoy and amazing meal here! Thank you Jaslyn you made my birthday dinner so memorable!
Philippe feels like Nashville's full glow-up moment for Chinese food--posh but not precious, chic without trying too hard, and absolutely aware of its own cool-factor. This is the kind of place where you intend to order responsibly and then immediately abandon that plan in favor of "well, we're already here." The menu is built for joyful over-ordering: lots of appetizers, small noodle, and fried rice dishes that practically dare you to say, "Let's just try one more," plus larger also-shareable entrées that land with great polish. The miso salmon is a standout--silky, deeply savory, and clearly living its best life. The hamachi crudo is bright, pristine, and disappeared so fast it may have technically been a mirage. No crumbs, no regrets. Cocktails are clever without drifting into performance art, and the wine list is smart, curated, and blessedly free of intimidation. Everything tastes intentional, not try-hard. Service? Impeccable. The kind of staff that makes a large group feel expertly choreographed rather than herded. Worth noting: for a big party, reservations required planning a few weeks out--annoying in theory, extremely validating in practice. Philippe is date-night cool, friend-group chic, and "another round, please" energy all at once. Elevated, funny, a little indulgent--and very much main-character dining. Are we going back? The unanimous vote was "yes." There is so much more to explore here!
I had the honor of attending one of the soft openings, and from start to finish, it was an exceptional experience. The ambiance was spot-on — stylish and lively without being loud, with music at the perfect level for conversation. Our server, Brandon, deserves a huge shout-out. His attention to detail, professionalism, and effortless charisma elevated the entire evening. Every course arrived perfectly timed, and his recommendations were flawless. The steak tartare with bone marrow was hands down the best I’ve ever had — rich, velvety, and beautifully executed. The rack of lamb was cooked to perfection, paired with a sauce that was nothing short of addictive. The Chateaubriand melted in my mouth — perfectly tender and expertly prepared. Both the shishito peppers and wok green beans were bursting with flavor and made the perfect sides. A salute to Chef Lance and the entire culinary team for delivering such an incredible meal. This spot has brought a true taste of NYC sophistication to Nashville — and I can’t wait to come back.
Genuinely the most divine dining experience. In town for a work trip and went here for a team dinner. Was beyond impressed with the atmosphere, service, and recommendations throughout the meal. Special shoutout to Isaiah and Shayla were the best!!
Awesome food. Got the Peking duck, beef satay, wagyu tartare, and duck egg rolls. All were great, easily served 4+ people. The service staff is top notch and Philippe himself is walking across the restaurant, checking in on guests and monitoring service. We had Mike as a server and he was perfect! Floor manager also did great. 10/10. I couldn’t recommend coming here more! Must try. Make reservations beforehand
We had a great experience! The standouts were the Salmon Crudo, Beijing Chicken, and the Green Beans. We ordered quite a few items to get a feel for the menu. Amber, our server, and her team provided excellent service! The vibe was perfect, lively enough to make it fun without being overly loud. Plenty of inexpensive street parking nearby with a valet option. Will definitely be back!
Great food!! Worth the long wait. Love the customer service here and pretty in-store decorations.
The restaurant is visually stunning. Cocktails were good, although a bit on the sweet side. Pork dumplings were excellent. Both raw fish dishes were excellent and good portions. The duck was phenomenal. They even offered us the carcass to take home (i made soup). Fried rice was good. Sweet and sour chicken evoked the 1980s, which is what we wanted. The only negative was the plain jasmine rice. It managed to be both crunchy and mushy at the same time. I’m not sure how that was even possible. The name of the restaurant makes you think there will be French influences, of which there were none. But it was overall a very nice Chinese dinner (minus the rice). We spent $200/person but had 3 cocktails each and ordered a decent amount of food. We’ll be back, but mostly for that duck! One last thing- the menu is clearly labeled for those with dietary restrictions, which is nice.
The restaurant was lovely and the staff great. The drinks were unusual and excellent. The desserts, Chocolate Mousse Cake and Baked Alaska, were rich and delicious. Unfortunately, the food was not even as flavorful as a cheap Chinese buffet. The Chicken Dumplings were very bland, and the Pork Dumplings were only slightly better. The Sweet and Sour chicken was acceptable, but nothing to write home about. The Grand Walnut Sesame Prawns were nice sized, but had no flavor. The Wok-Fried Green Beans were good, but again nothing special.
Food was excellent EXCEPT the hoisin sauce for the Peking Duck that was watered down because they didn’t have enough for all the ducks they were serving. The waiter was good but the timing of food delivery was awful. The Peking Duck came out first in less than 30 minutes. While the duck was being carved, 5 other dishes came out for our party of six. It was very hectic and resulted in eating fast. Very disappointing. After this first posted Philippe Chow responded by thanking me for the favorable review. They completely ignored the problems with the timing of food delivery and hectic pacing. They should respond to and learn from negative comments.
Interesting restaurant and one we will come back again! Our waitress, Shayla, was exceptional. We ordered the Peking Duck and Bejing Chicken. The Duck was good but not great. Would have been better if it were crispier and less fatty! For the price, would not order again. The Bejing Chicken was by far the best chicken dish we have ever had and is the reason we would return. Ordered the Pork Dumplings and they were fabulous. I had one cocktail and my wife had two, not our favorites so perhaps a good glass of white wine next time. Overall good not great.
I had high expectations for some odd reason lol. I think because everyone made such a big deal about Nashville getting a Phillipe Chow and the name sounds fancy. The restaurant itself has a beautiful atmosphere. The tables for two are very tiny, like they're trying to pack as many people as possible. Some type of way our entrees came out before our appetizers. Once our waiter saw the mixup he came and grabbed our plates mid-bite LOL. Im laughing but he made sure to get the appetizers re-ordered I guess. The mid-bite plate removal was a real thing, but didnt appear malicious. The food was kinda mid. We did enjoy the Fried Rice after getting extra soy sauce. My Sweet n Sour chicken was actually pretty good. I was not a fan of the duck egg rolls- tasted kinda freezer burnt. Did not enjoy the dumplings. The Lo-Mein was decent. The Scallion Bread will have your breath humminnngg..It was tasty but the garlicky, onion flavor will stick with you for a while. The prices were not bad, but I would prefer to go to one of my favorite local takeout places taste wise. This is a great place for when you would like to put on some nice clothes and have a good night out, but I wouldn't expect Amazing food.
We recently dined at Philippe Chow and had mixed feelings about our experience. The food itself was excellent. We chose the tasting menu, which was a great value for the price, and everything we tried was flavorful and well-prepared. It was a fun way to try multiple dishes without overspending. Unfortunately, the service really took away from the evening. Our server made it seem like ordering the tasting menu instead of individual entrées was an inconvenience. When we asked questions about menu options we were debating, he was unhelpful and seemed rushed, like he just wanted us to hurry up and order. It didn’t feel welcoming. We were also charged full price for our martinis instead of the tasting menu martini price, which was disappointing. At the end of the night, we asked to split the bill and he declined our request, which added to the frustration. The food was genuinely great, but the service and billing issues left a sour note. Hoping this was just an off night because the kitchen is clearly doing a fantastic job.
Meh. Had high hopes but really meh. All I wanted was to try a pork dumpling. Was forced to order a three course meal simply because my wife wanted to order off the Nashville Dining Week menu. If we had both walked in individually or if I had sat in the bar we could have both ordered what we wanted but because we sat at the same table like a couple, I was forced to order off a menu I didn’t want. To make it worse, not only did I have to order food I didn’t want, the food wasn’t even particularly good. The beef satay and the walnut prawns were both way over sauced, yet somehow actually lacked any flavor, and the cheesecake was a weird gel like it came out of a box in the frozen food section of a grocery store. Dessert came before the vegetables but that’s ok because it was the wrong dessert so by the time it was corrected the vegetables came. There are so many good restaurants in Nashville that we frequent throughout the year. This won’t be one of them. This isn’t even near the top for Asian food. I’ve seen other reviewers mention PF Chang’s but at this hype level and price point, Philippe Chow’s should be comparable to Noko, ZuZu or Locust. This is not those. Quite honestly, the quality of the food at Hawkers Asian Street Food in East Nashville is significantly better than this. Came for the hype and left disappointed. Still couldn’t tell you how the pork dumpling is because I wasn’t allowed to order it.
Ugh, I REALLY wanted to love this place. The atmosphere was gorgeous; perfect vibes for a date night. The service was also top-notch. But the most important part, the food, was so sad. We tried a variety of items that we thought would showcase what the restaurant could do: the pork dumplings, shishito peppers, sweet and sour chicken, and shrimp lo mein. It was all about on-par with what you would get at a takeout restaurant (I would actually have preferred some takeout restaurant's food actually). It was such a let down because it really is a beautiful restaurant with excellent service. I hope that management will consider re-working the menu!
Went there for my birthday dinner last night and we were super disappointed. The food was extremely average and lacks in comparison to the other Philippe locations across the country. Every dish we got was lukewarm besides the dumplings, and nothing tasted as good as it should for the price. The only reason I'm giving three stars is because our waitress was a sweetheart and was the best part of our experience. I would avoid this place as there are much better Asian cuisine restaurants in Nashville.
Fun to have good Beijing-style Chinese food in Nashville, however, way overpriced for average food. We did not have peeking duck special, but it seems you pay for the vibe. However, dress code did not appear enforced and I felt overdressed. Also, table behind me had a dog at the table. Sorry- animals just don’t belong at the dinner table, least of all in a public restaurant. The appetizers were great and could make a meal in themselves. They were out of the pork dumplings- on a Thursday night. The chicken dished were good, kung pao not as spicy a server suggested. The crispy bok choy was served soaking a clear broth bath- not what I had my heart set on when reading “crispy bok choy.” This spot has a great vibe and fun hang spot with friends, but prices are a little extravagant for average Chinese food.
Our party of 6 dined on Christmas night. While the food in general (although not uniformly) was good, there were two significant problems. First, the hoisin sauce, an integral part of Peking Duck, was terrible. It was the consistency of soy sauce, with little flavor. (It's supposed to be thicker than ketchup). Although the duck itself was good, the watery "sauce" ruined the Peking Duck pancakes, the expensive signature dish of the restaurant. (The duck is eaten in pancakes, not separately.) This being our first time at Phillipe Chow, I thought at first it perhaps was their unique version of hoisin. But it was so bad I brought it to the waiter's attention. On my query, he checked with the kitchen, which admitted "stretching" the sauce. Second, nearly all the food arrived at once, with absolutely no pacing, nor room on the table or space to enjoy it. The vegetable dumplings, spicy mushrooms, and prawns were very good. The chicken satay (Chinese?) was gloopy, tasteless and not good at all. The vegetable fried rice was bland but okay. The dessert (baked Alaska) looked impressive, but it too was bland. Our waiter was very genial, but overall the experience was quite disappointing. The restaurant is showy and expensive, but the food and service was not commensurate with the cost. Note: I try to avoid posting negative reviews. In this instance I emailed my concerns directly to Phillipe Chow via their website, but after a couple of days never received the courtesy of a response.
This is a beautiful restaurant and we had really good service. But we were disappointed in the food. We had heard mixed reviews about Philippe Chow so when I saw they had the dine nashville menu, I thought it would be a good opportunity to try it out. I had to ask for the dine nashville menu which I thought was odd. It had a nice variety. So we ordered the spring rolls, satay, miso salmon and the sweet and sour chicken. Off the dine nashville menu we ordered the Brussels sprouts and the shrimp fried rice. The good: the Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly and delicious. The spring rolls were nice as well. The beef satay was good though drowning in the sauce. The bad: everything else. The miso salmon had a strange brown gravy like sauce that was on top of a mushy rice cake. The sweet and sour chicken was a strange orange hue and was mediocre. The fried rice was not the texture you'd expect for fried rice. Our desserts were visually stunning but were just ok taste-wise. I was very underwhelmed. The staff were wonderful and the general manager stopped by and checked in on us (unfortunately before we had really tucked into our entrees). So to sum it up: Beautiful atmosphere, great staff, mediocre food. Definitely didn't live up to the hype.
I was not planning to leave a review of this restaurant, as I don't like leaving bad reviews. I love Nashville and love to see the food scene thriving. Me and my wife make the drive down to Nashville a couple times a month from Bowling Green, Kentucky to take advantage of all the nice restaurants Nashville has to offer. But seeing the owner's response to another review and dismissing his complaints as fake, changed my mind. I agree with alot of the things this diner said. I will start by saying I am a huge fan of Asian food. So when we saw that Phillipe Chow was opening in Nashville, we were beyond excited. I was on the waitlist for reservations for nearly 2 years, as opening dates kept getting delayed. When we were able to finally get reservations on 10/27, we were thrilled to be going and were hoping to become regular diners there. The restaurant is decorated beautifully and is very appealing to the eye. However, the service and food was underwhelming to say the least. We can overlook slow/bad service, as this can happen on any given night and the place is fairly new so they are probably still trying to figure alot of things out. However, most of the dishes we tried were either bland or overcooked. The prawns were tougher to chew than any other prawns I've ever had them. Alot of the appetizers/small plates were flavorless. The ribs had nice flavor, but were definitely overcooked and tough to chew. Overall, I can not recommend this restaurant to anybody for all these reasons and will not be coming back myself. I'm sure the high profile name of the chef this restaurant is named after will continue to attract diners, but in my opinion there are alot better options in Nashville for Asian/Chinese food. The one thing we did enjoy was the cotton candy/cake dessert, thats why I left a 2 star review. I will attach photos of my food so that the owner doesn't dismiss this review as fake or exaggerated
Beautiful restaurant, seating is super tight, everyone around you can hear your conversation, it almost feels like they sit on your table, they use good ingredients but food was NOT good at all and dry! I was expecting a bit more accuracy from a chef restaurant. We had reservation and still had to wait about 20 minutes to be seated. I hate to write bad things about a business but this experience was not good. We left the food on the table and we didn't even ask to pack it to go. I attached the picture of how much food we left. I gave it two stars because the servers were excellent and the place was well done.
The atmosphere at Philippe Chow Nashville is beautiful — the life-sized Chinese warrior statues and lanterns with optical illusions make it feel unique and high-end. The servers were attentive and did a great job throughout our visit. Unfortunately, the food didn’t match the quality of the decor or service. The flavors were disappointing. Overall, it’s a gorgeous place to look at, but I wouldn’t recommend it based on the food experience.
We were so excited for Peking duck , in Nashville and had high hopes for this place. Went to dinner on Valentine’s Day - my mistake. The service was terrible. Our waitress went MIA on us multiple times. Other tables who arrived after us were getting service and we were forgotten. Took forever to get water , drinks arrived before that. We sat there for probably 25 min with no water. The duck was very fatty and the pieces were cut thick. Lo mein was tasteless , the walnut shrimp and bok choi were great. Our waitress never showed up to check on us or take a second drink order. I had to ask the food runner for chilly oil, soy sauce , etc … I’d give it another try on a regular night before writing it off , but our first impression was disappointing.
Food was meh - service fantastic! Had the duck spring rolls, the best part was the sauce, followed by Beijing and sweet and sour chicken - food court was better. The signature baked Alaska dessert was cheesecake that was frozen solid, you pay for the torched experience. So many places to go here I would not recommend.
Service was good, valet was nice enough to come in and keep us from spending extra money for parking by getting our cars before the time added extra. That was appreciated and didn’t have to be done. Restaurant is beautifully done. Unfortunately, the food was no better than PF Changs or Panda Express frankly. Which given the price, was very underwhelming and disappointing. Our server, started by telling us they had no dumplings and then proceeded to tell us how amazing they were. Apparently the one dumpling chef they had was busy at another restaurant and couldn’t make it in to make dumplings. Found that a little odd. I’m not a duck fan but the rest of the table had the Peking Duck and they said it was very good. However, we pre-ordered the duck and were told it would take 30-45 minutes and it took an hour and a half to get it. I had the shrimp spring rolls and it was no better than getting the frozen kind from the supermarket. I also had the sweet and sour chicken. It was fine, nothing special and not worth what I can get elsewhere at half the price. If you want to get dressed up and go to a fancy non-steak restaurant in Nashville give it a shot. Like I said those at my table said the Peking Duck was very good but the rest of the food was mid at best. At the end of the day, if I’m going to spend the money I spent I want to be blown away and I wasn’t. I can go to PF Changs, spend half what I spent, park for free and have the same quality food.
Reservations are 7pm to celebrate 20th anniversary with your kids. You rush there after your son’s basketball game. Charged $18 to park. Get in at 7. Told they are setting up your table. At 7:18pm exhausted after work and games the manager comes out and says you can’t be sat because you don’t meet the dress code because one of your kids is wearing sweatpants. Mind you he thought these were cool because they matched his shoes. Do we feel slightly underdressed? Sure. I had a hat on. Would’ve happily taken it off. The manager says we could go change and he’ll still sit us when we get back. I live in Brentwood, this is downtown. He’s clearly not from here. On top of it one of the staff was wearing crocs. What a sad pretentious place. When he said to change he mentioned our hotel. Clearly this is only for tourist. Clearly they don’t get Tennessee. If you’re local avoid this wanna be spot. I will be telling this story to every single person I know from here. Couldn’t believe what just happened. Update: if you’ve read this far, I strongly encourage you read the response. You tell me if that sounds like someone in the hospitality industry or the zoning commission. And factually I’m out $20 for parking and my anniversary dinner ruined. You get to decide if you feel they handled the situation well or could they have nicely found a table that the sweatpants hid under? And if you go watch everyone who shows up and you tell me if you find people that break the code (hint it is subjective and there are plenty who do)
A group of us went Tuesday evening to enjoy this restaurant and the experience! Having been highly recommended, this restaurant team were not what we had hoped to enjoy. From the moment we walked in the door, our group was greeted with a very harsh response; asked if we could be seated in a quieter area, giving hearing issues issues and the gentleman at the front desk, stated there was nothing available and was extremely dismissive in his body language and tone. . We were seated at a large table next to two groups that were very lively, and were instantly informed that the duck was not available that evening. Their signature dish could not have been prepared because the duck did not arrive in their morning shipment. We were so utterly disappointed as that was to be the highlight of our dining experience. No notification was sent out prior to our arrival via the contact whom had made our reservation. We then looked at the valentine special menu and were directly informed that it was 'all or nothing'. Our wait staff told us that the DM had stated that the entire table needed to have this special dining or it could not occur. Two members of our party, for dietary reasons, would not have the dessert and no substitutions were offered. Having had a career of over 35 years in sales, I was completely amazed that this inflexible attitude was being projected by this team. At this point, our group decided it was time for us to leave as we were not being treated warmly or encouraged to stay. Hospitality is based on warm engagement as well as a wonderful atmosphere and outstanding food. A foodie Of Nashville, I am absolutely amazed that this restaurant projected such an image.I hope others have a far better experience at this restaurant and management realizes rigidity is not always the best path to take. I found that my success in sales was based on understanding, compassion, and flexibility. I am not sure that ownership for this restaurant is projecting that approach. Dining in Nashville offers so many choices and I only hope ownership and management recognizes they are in 'sales' and want to offer and be a place to dine!
I am just appalled by this restaurant. My husband and I had reservations to celebrate our 20th wedding anniversary with our children. Because my 14 year old son had athletic pants on they told us we could not eat there. Meanwhile, I watched almost every guest walking in and out of the restaurant wearing jeans and very busty tops. The manager made us wait 20 minutes to be told that they wouldn’t seat us, paid 20.00 to park, and they knew I was bringing my children. I live in Brentwood and was told to drive home or go to my hotel to change. This is just obsurd.. Also, there was clearly an athlete that walked in after us wearing gym shoes. This place is trying to hard and just lost a customer and I will tear them apart online and make sure all of our private school friends know to never go to this restaurant. You all made a huge mistake turning us away. We are very well known in our community. I want everyone to read their response. They have no clue what hospitality means and YES they made us wait and singled our family out. By the way Phillip Chow you restaurant OSS nothing special and you are acting like you are the greatest restaurant to exist. We are not some poor family that has never been to a nice restaurant. We have been to lots and have never been treated like this before. You ruined our anniversary and allowed others to eat there but my son’s athletic gear bothered you. Sorry they were not alo or lululemon. Also, your restaurant never stated a dress code when making a reservation and it was in the door. It should be way more clear. Also, what poor business to not care about your community. I will make sure everyone in my community knows about your poor taste in hospitality. You do not care shoot about your potential guests
They nailed everything but what they should actually focus on. Nice atmosphere, good service, terrible food. We had the walnut cashew prawns, kung pow chicken, and vegetables lo mein. The lo mein was ice cold and bland, the king pow was dry with little flavor, the prawns were ok. For the price I’d rather grab some to-go Chinese food and sit inside a restoration hardware store for a similar experience and save $200.
Don’t waste your money. Panda Express has better food. It took 30 minutes to get a beer, food almost 45 minutes. And it was warm at best. Second drinks they comped because it took so long. Service, though well intentioned, was abysmal. Two-top tables virtually on top of each other. We could hear every word of our neighbor’s conversation and they were as pissed off as we were. They had lots of staff but doing what, I have no idea. It felt like everyone started their jobs that night. I would not recommend this place to anyone. And I wanted to love it. Whoever owns this place should fire the manager and start over. I’m old enough to realize that “fine dining” is dead but this was just depressing and atrocious.
Seems like they are still trying to figure a lot out. We called to preorder their duck but when we sat down we were told they would get it going then so guess that doesn’t do much. We were told it would take 45min to 1 hour, it took 1 and a half hour. We asked our serve (group of 4) how many other items we should order in addition to the duck, he told us he had a few tables where the duck was consumed by just 1 person. So despite it saying the duck was enough for 4-6 we ordered a bunch more items, more than we would have, and of course it was way too much food. Servers should be trained on how much food a typical table of 4 usually orders. Utensils were cleaned after apps and new ones never brought out. Water wasn’t refilled. Just not well serviced or thought out for a higher end restaurant. Food was mostly an afterthought it seemed. I reached out to the manager at the listed email, he asked me to explain my experience, I referred him to my review and never heard back. Lowered to 1 star.
TL;DR - All sizzle, no steak It's a scene where dinner for two can set you back $150-200 with drinks, but there are much better options for that price Pear salad. Nice greens but literally one melon ball of pear Entrees came out 5-10 min apart. That's a bad experience for a party of two Miso salmon good but undersalted, a bit bland 2-3/5 Walnut prawns are breaded fried shrimp drowned in oversweetened mayonnaise 1/5 Broccoli was overcooked, falling apart, and waterlogged -- sitting in a pool of water 0/5 Highlight was the brussels sprout side which was a solid 4/5
