A diner with delicious food and good service. We were seated immediately and our waitress was both prompt and friendly. I ordered a bacon and cheese omelet with white toast and home fries; it tasted amazing and the food arrived quickly. Wasn't the cheapest diner ever but prices were acceptable.

Went there this past Sunday morning and it was PACKED! Even so, our waitress was super friendly and literally hustled to make sure we didn’t wait too long for our food. Our food was cooked perfectly and the atmosphere of a bustling diner was actually a really nice thing for a rainy morning.

We arrived around 2:30 on a weekday, so it was not very busy. The server was personable and attentive. Prices were surprisingly high, but my partner and I we're not looking for anything heavy. We both got the soup and half sandwich option for $13- a very fair deal. Based on today's experience, I would have expected the diner to have a 4.6-7 rating. My gf said maybe 4.3 for her. I was pleasantly surprised with our experience. That said, I can see how other reviewers' concerns may well be valid. I think we just picked a good day/time to show up.

Is driving 7.5 hours for a piece of cheesecake and relaxing time too much? NO, not really. When you just want a GOOD old-school burger that tastes fresh, then you go where you know. This is what diner food should be. I have yet to taste a diner that evokes the memories of my childhood like the NewPaltz diner does. 5 stars and 7.5 hours, totally worth it.

We wanted to have a quick bite before the movies, and very happy we came here. Our waitress was super nice and helpful. The kids coloring activity was really entertaining. My philly cheesesteak wrap was delicious. If you haven't been here in a while, give it another try.

Food was pretty good! I wish I had taken pictures of my items but I was a bit hungry 🤤 Pancakes were a little flat, I like mine golden and fluffy but taste pretty good. Huevos rancheros is a big plate so be prepared to eat. Rice lacked flavor but the beans compensate for it. Plenty of coffee refills. Nice atmosphere. Service was optional, Chris was super friendly and attentive. I read many of the reviews complaining about pricing, they seem to forget that we are in a college town and the cost of living has gone higher everywhere but slightly higher here.

If what you are looking for is a classic diner experience, this is it. Greek-owned, with all the usuals. I had the patty melt, which was cooked exactly to my order, and my friend had the pastrami Reuben. We didn't, but should have, also tried the Greek specialties.

The food was ok I do wish the service was a little faster it took like 13 mins the place was a little dirty it is also a little expensive I would recommend coming on your on otherwise it will be very awkwardly quiet

For a New York dining experience you have to experience the Plaza Diner. The menu has a little bit of everything and it is pretty well prepared. Service is good too.

Overall, great place. Food was heavily portioned and seasoned well. There were sooo many options to choose from. Waitresses were very nice but had limited staff. Atmosphere was decorated nice for Valentines Day. Our food came out in a reasonable time, but the menu was overly priced. We paid 18 dollars for a shrimp basket and 17 for a buffalo chicken salad. Hope this improves, but overall good place.

Hmm, the building is dated inside and out, but that's the area of location so, yeah. The staff was accommodating and friendly. Our waitress was prompt taking the order although she had mistaken mine. Once addressed the item was taken care of and returned. The quality was generally good, preparedness was complete and flavorful. The prices were very reasonable.

Standard, solid diner fare. The staff was incredibly kind and welcoming- we’ll be back, especially because they are steps from a fast Tesla supercharger. Our food came very quickly- we were able to plug in, eat and finish dinner and get on the road.

Good was good, seemed pretty fresh, and the server was pretty much alone. We were seated near the back in a large room and it took a while to get utensils and the food. We understand times are tough for everyone, especially since COVID, however the prices were high, so next time I would definitely curtail our orders a bit. Our salad was forgotten with one of our meals but we decided to let it go, because of the amount of time we were waiting. We will go back again, but now we know what to expect. Again food was very good and portion size was very good.

The food was very good and large portions. Menu was varied with lots of options for all Vegetarian gluten-free, keto. My friend had house made chili and I had salad with grilled chicken. Very pleased.

The food and decor here is average while the service was excellent. Had a Santa Fe salad that seemed to have fresh lettuce, fresh apples, fresh almonds, but the vinaigrette tasted a bit off. The waitress was attentive and knowledgeable and delivered my food quickly. Only a year because it is next to the Tesla supercharger.

Okay, my food was actually pretty good, 3 adults and 2 babies that split one plate. I myself got 2 eggs and corn beef hash and toast, the other adults got French toast and bacon. then one order of silver dollar pancakes and American omelette. Again. Food was good. but my problem is it was absolutely not $90 dollars good. This place is a prime example of inflation. each piece of bacon was $1.25, and each plate was about $20 dollars. Poor service. We were there right at peak dinner time. Granted, it was a weeknight. But there was just one server/cashier in addition to the kitchen staff. Hardly any customers. When it came time to pay, I stood at one of two registers, not realizing I was at the wrong one. Server/cashier ignored me for at least 5 to 7 minutes, after which she walked over to the other register, still barely acknowledging me. I gave her my credit card, she ran it, put the copies on the counter, still said nothing to me (not a thanks, not a have-a-nice-day, nothing) and just walked away. The atmosphere was typical for a diner, but as I mentioned it was noticeably empty. I ordered typical American fare, and the portion and quality were passable at best.

The food is fine, good, average, etc. The prices have gone up but the quality has gone down. The place hasn't changed in decades and is in dire need of an exterior and interior overhaul! The one positive takeaway was that our waitress was very friendly.

Been coming for few years now and usually the food and the service is great. But recently me and my boyfriend have been getting served by this Hispanic lady and she makes us feel bit uncomfortable cause she rush us to take our order and she doesn’t even come check on us once after the food is delivered. And we have to go up front to pay. I just found out today that she’s been adding 20% tip without even telling us the tip is added so we’ve been giving additional tip on top of that. I work in service industry and adding tip is fine but u always let the customer know that the tip is being added. We usually always got some other Lady as our server who never added tip so I don’t know if this is a new policy.

Other reviewers were right - portions are definitely small for premium diner prices. I got a grilled cheese which was just bread and two cheese slices for $8.50. One kids pancake in a Mickey Mouse shape was $9. Kids size Apple juice for $4. Servers were nice but service was slow considering it was a Sunday and it wasn’t busy. Overall, a decent stop if you have to, but bypass if you have other options.

A charade of a Greek diner - more like a Greek tragedy. Our meal was borderline garbage, and the prices were bloated. $3 cup of coffee?! Gave two stars because server was super sweet.

My rating are based on common sense and taste. If I can cookup something more tasty and cheaper than what I am getting here than I give it a 2 stars just because it's doesn't make me sick. Service is basic, if you calls service like McDonald's probably its ok for you. We were surprised by hot water being extra charge. Credit card payment have surchsarge. Waited 50 minutes for French Toast and a vegetable omelet with turkey. Nice place, but I shouldn't have to chase down the staff for straws, silverware, and our food! French toast had no cinnamon, and the "Omelet" was a bland scrambled mess. Somehow, adding turkey to the Omelet blew the kitchen staffs mind. Causing our orders to be cooked 45 minutes to later. Overpriced for what you get here.

With so few breakfast joints in New Paltz I had hope. I mean come on, this place had been here forever. Guess I know what we don't eat here. Mediocre food at best, with higher than expected prices. If I wanted 16$ a dish I would expect it to be actually be tasty. The breakfast potatoes legit had no seasoning, and were slightly soggy. Coffee was terrible and burnt, but I didnt expected much, to be honest. They did not have any non dairy milk, and we were looked at like we had 5 eyes when we asked for it. Old school diner feel atmosphere. The floors were gross. Under our booth was what felt like sand, and walking around the floors were so sticky. However the bathrooms were fairly clean! Hey, the server was very nice, so there is that.

I ordered breakfast that didn’t have eggs… they charged me 4.50 for each egg, that price was supposed to include potato’s and toast, with each egg what I was ordering already had that.. rip off.. the corned beef hash tasted like it might have been too old, potatoes might as well been made from air cause they had no taste and drinks were 5.00 each!!! Stopped here for a quick bite, and was we hadn’t. Prices were ridiculous. $8 for rice pudding, $10 for a slice of pie, not a la mode, just pie! Ordered 4 waters, a cup of soup, a bowl of soup, fries, and potato skins. $45, and the soups were the worst diner soups we’ve ever had. Potato skins were bland, and fries tasted like old fryer oil. Waitress was friendly, and raved about the soups, which is why we ordered them. Never again!

From the time I walked in, the service sucks. The woman that was there wasn't pleasant at all. I guess she was the server and cashier. She seemed angry because I interrupted her from eating.

The service was slow and we waited about 15 minutes to get menus and then again another 15 to order. Food took a while to come out and when it did the burgers we ordered felt small. It was at this point where the lack of service got weird because new people would come in and she would attend them immediately and have there food out within 10 minutes and she would constantly check on them. Food was mediocre and service was poor.

Hit or miss here. Went a few times and sometimes it’s ok. Sometimes seems dirty and food is blah. The last time I went the table was dirty and I got food poisoning from the tuna melt. I won’t go back again.

Stopped in while traveling through my old college town, feeling nostalgic for a place I’d been so many times (in the early 90’s). I swear to you not one thing was different. It is EXACTLY the same, and not in a cool way. Mildew smell, or maybe old cigarettes. Same decor, same floor, same tables, same everything. We ordered fries, which were fine. But in general, ugh.

All around waste of time and money. The food was cold over cooked and dried out $96.00 for three extremely Subpar meals is a slap in the face. NEVER again will we go there. This was Not our first time dinning there but it Definitely will be our last.

I did not enjoy a simple French onion soup, barely edible. Any decent diner makes good French onion soup. Theirs was not good especially since they charge $9 for it. The rest of meal was too salty. I barely ate anything and it cost $30 for one person.

The place is falling apart and they wanted to charge $4 for some Buffalo sauce to dip some fries in. The booth was very tight and the cautions were cracking and falling apart. We also waited 30 minutes for the check before we stood at the register waiting to pay. The food was ok but over priced, I had a burger that looked like it was from McDonald's for $17.00 There were only 4 table occupied with 2 wait staff to add insult to injury with the poor service.

My husband and I visited New Paltz this past weekend. We wanted to go to the Main Street Bistro, but the line was out the door, so we figured we could go to the diner...what a mistake! First, the hostess told us to sit anywhere which was the first clue of their customer service. We weren't given menus. After 5 minutes, my husband got us menus. The prices were extremely high for diner food and the food was "okay" at most. There were other patrons around us complaining. One table was sitting for 30 minutes before a server got to their table. They didn't have menus either. Another table rolled their eyes at the food they received. Another table got up and left after a few minutes. My final strife was their side of peaches cost $7. I was expecting these peaches to be fresh! When the hostess brought be peaches in a plastic cup I flipped out. "These are $7!?" The waitress kindly took them back and off my bill. Side Note: We went food shopping when we came back. A four pack of peaches at Stop and Shop was $3.39, this is $.84 a container. Charging over 8X the amount is shameful and the definition of price gouging at it's finest. We went to Main Street Bistro the following two mornings. The prices were MUCH LOWER and the food was AMAZING! I have a feeling this place will close soon; it should.

The food sucked and is now so much more expensive since the college diner went out. My husband's food went back because the meatballs were still frozen and they use a can sauce. It was bad. My French toast the bread was old and it was very dry. Will never return to the diner again. Just to let everyone know a peanut butter and jelly sandwich is over 7.00 and 2 eggs any style with nothing else is 6.00. Im not dumb enough to order any of that. The lady that serves and charges and do everything was super UNFRIENDLY she spoke Spanish…that was the only nice thing about her, she took the order upset, we asked her about a dish and she wasn’t willing to describe the dish or give us any idea if it was good, super nasty lady…will NEVER come to this Dinner again. She should be in the back cooking not serving clients! Other clients sitting next to us were also commenting about her nasty personality and unfriendliness. Unfortunately my review doesn't reflect well on the service. The food, which was only a dessert was very pricey but it was the service that I really feel the need to comment on. Normally I give people a pass since we all have "off" days but after the third time I thought, no, I'm not coming here again. The server/waitress must be very unhappy there because it reflects very much in her demeanor, which again I can usually give a pass on but I ordered a brownie with my coffee that I never received. I waited but she never returned with my order. We watched her doing various things by the counter but she never brought my order over. After several minutes the person I was with accidently spilled her coffee and asked for help cleaning it up and at that time I asked about my brownie. As the server walked away she shouted, we have no brownies. I'm still shocked that was her response and that she didn't even ask if I wanted something else. Who does that? Very, Very strange indeed. The two previous times, which were all within a few weeks/month she was the only server there with next to no other customers and she had the same distant/couldn't care less demeanor. I have no idea why she's like that but what I'm saying is if you want friendly service with good food for a reasonable price don't go to Plaza Diner.

Not to good. We had breakfast and the french toast was like a poundcake.the homefries were the worst I have ever had. It was almost like they were out of a can.The coffee was average and the order of toast came out 10 minutes after the meals were served and the place was not crowded at all.The total bill was $28 dollars for 2 small meals. Absolutely rotten experience. My wife had a BLT and I had a chicken salad sandwich, both on rye. First of all, the bread was bland. Her sandwich had a ton of iceberg lettuce, a few slices of tomato, and an underwhelming amount of bacon that did not even taste right. The chicken in my sandwich was all dark meat with some hard pieces, and huge chunks of celery. The taste and texture was terrible. The prices are sky high and food was horrible. The owner and/or cooks clearly don’t care. The place was also dirty with many uncleaned tables. Please heed my warnings and don’t go here. I wish I would have read the reviews before I stepped inside the building.

Burger arrived just 'kinda warm' . One member of our party had to send their dish back as it was spoiled and initially still tried to charge for it but a small discount. Took some convincing to remove it from the bill. They charged for water! Server was doing their best.

The service and management is incredibly rude and unaccommodating to customers. Waitress and manager arguing with the customer that man is his not dressing so when we ordered the sandwich without dressing they still put mayonnaise and did not want a refund it unless we brought the sandwich back 20 minutes away. Super overpriced and the sweet potato fries were soggy and gross. They're also $4 of charge if you want to replace it for regular french fries. Only customers in there are there family. Very uncomfortable. Especially when they are speaking to each other in another language.

oh my god. This is the absolute worst place I’ve been in a LONG time. As a self identified diner connoisseur, I was looking forward to trying this spot as it seemed like a true institution. The ambiance is absolutely lacking — it’s dirty and not in a diner chic kind of way… like filthy. Our waitress was so unbelievably rude and asked us to pay for water when we had decided we wouldn’t be dining in this spot due to the filth. I recommend Rubirosa across the plaza if you’re in need of a quick bite/ drink— much more welcoming and palatable.

Had the worst dining experience at this diner in my life. Only giving it one star to be able to post. My family and I stopped here for lunch in between a wake and funeral service. Three of 4 orders came out at different times with a long wait time. My order never made it to the table, a simple turkey club. I told the waitress when it's ready I'll take it to go but I should not have to pay for it. She returned and said the owner would not take it off the check if I took it... What a terrible experience, this establishment should not be in business. Never again!!

The food is really expensive and not that good- stuff you can easily make at home. Some really odd menu items as well. Onion omelette, marinara sauce in an omelette?? Gross. The service was really bad too. The place was 80% empty and it took us almost 2 hours to eat for 2 people and we’re told that it’s because they are super busy. Don’t even bother super disappointed

I had time to kill. I decided I should just go to the diner cuz I'm by myself. I ordered eggs benedict. The worst was that it was so bad and I don't complain it definitely was the kitchen not the waitress. I just know now to stay away from there. In my 20s New Platz Dinners were great..idk..I should have gotten FF cheese and gravy!

I stopped in rather late with a group. I sat alone and just ordered a tea. The only waitress there was not friendly,she did not talk at all. The entire diner was very depressing visually. Dismal,run down in need of a makeover. I would not go back .

As soon as I walked in, I was completely and utterly vexed. Upon my arrival, the waiter began to pat me down like a TSA officer. I was incredibly confused along with my wife and 5 children. I sat down thinking I was going to enjoy a nice meal, but the waiter waiting my table had other plans. At first, he dropped my steaming hot cup of Joe onto my lap. Next, he gave me a cup full of oil and proceeded to throw up on the floor next to my table, which splattered onto my shoes. When he brought out my food, it was sitting in a weird unidentified gelatinous gloop. It sort of tasted like congealed yogurt, if you've ever tasted that. Lastly, my meal was littered with toe nails and finger nails to really seal the deal. Overall, do NOT come to this restaurant, there are quite a few better options in the surrounding area.

Never had a bad experience like this one. We found them on our way, got off the hwy for a traditional breakfast….what a mistake !!! We went in & waited to be seated…10 min. The place was busy, we saw 4 servers running in panic between tables. After 10 min. The cashier, which apparently also a server, shout to us to seat somewhere she pointed us…we seat & the table not clean, but still with the previous diner party. After 15 min. The same cashier/ server came to us, left a wet sponge on the table , said she’ll be back and went to other tables to take orders….my guess, she was expecting us to clean the table… I have to admit, there were more unclean tables around us, empty from people. Passed 10 min. She came back to our table, cleaned it, & gave us the STICKY menus all prices are deleted by marker…. I’ll make short….after she gave us the menus….she have never seen again. After 45 min, since we stepped in, we left without eating & went to the great bagel store a cross Highly recommend NOT to go in there !!!

Went for breakfast. As soon as I walked in it smelled like straight urine, I don’t know what that was about. Anyway, ordered the burrito and a vegetable omelet and let me just say they were the most flavorless unseasoned sad overpriced food I’ve ever had. I have absolutely no clue how this place has been open so long…5.50 for a singular small orange juice is insane. The waitress was nice though.

We had gotten into a car accident nearby and the tow truck guy took us to this diner to wait for our ride. In the meantime we went inside this diner to get food-and the lady who was working in the diner was extremely rude and barely acknowledged us. We didn’t even feel comfortable to stay here and left. This diner needs an overhaul. First of all , the food sits on the shelf to be served longer than it should. I watched the waitress grab my food , dropped my bacon on the counter and then picked up the bacon with her bare hands and put it back on my plate. Horrible service . No one comes around and asks how everything is. No coffee refills unless asked . Just horrible .

The type of food that I assume is too low quality to even be served to inmates at the county jail. I want to say I'm only giving it one star because google doesn't let you give it zero stars, but the truth is, to reflect my dining experience, it should allow star reviews that are in the negative digits. I'm fat and I love food but even I couldn't stomach this place.. and that says something but hey... if overpriced dry rubbery food with a side order of food poisoning is your thing then you will LOVE this place.

DO NOT GO HERE! Hour long wait for breakfast. The food sat in the kitchen window for 10m and was cold when we got it. My breakfast wrap not good. The eggs were way over cooked and cost $19.

Imagine the backrooms. That's basically what you're falling into when you enter the Plaza diner. I don't know what's worse, the fact we sat for 10 minutes before getting up to leave or the uncomfortable seats. The smell is kinda funky. The building hasn't been renovated since it opened. The food is crazy expensive. How is a chicken quesadilla $20 or a milkshake $8.50? I'm disappointed.

$20 for a basic grilled cheese with fries is criminal. They didn't even give me the coleslaw it was supposed to come with. Whole menu was way overpriced, even for todays standards. Go elsewhere
