One of the best restaurants I have been to my trip to New Paltz. If you’re visiting, you must must must go there! The staff members behavior was cherry on top! Diana was a great host who served us food. Loved the quality of food and pricing was affordable!

From start to finish, the vibe was perfect, the ambience. The food was great. But what really made the day unforgettable was the waiter Connor. He was awesome super cool, Friendly and genuinely cared about making sure we had a great time. My besties and I had an amazing afternoon. I Highly recommend this restaurant!

You could simply walk by this place as it is incredibly unassuming. Def stop inside. Great list of beer on tap along with brunch food ! Went with a group of 9. The biggest hit was the biscuits and gravy! Had a mimosa and basic egg platter. The pancakes with fruits are delicious. Highly recommend. The service is friendly and there’s an outdoor section if you have a pet !

Such a cozy and cute spot! Stopped here for a bite during a little weekend getaway and the food was delicious and the portions were great, not to mention the price point was so reasonable for the quality, service, and ambience. Had a wonderful time!

This place is a gem! I've had the perfect medium rare cheeseburger on two different occasions. On my last visit, I had the chicken and waffles, and that was a fabulous blend of savory and sweet. The waffles were so fluffy and the chicken was juicy. The staff are kind and friendly. A cozy ambiance makes it a wonderful place to relax with good friends and great food.

Stopped here on a whim, place filled up for lunch quickly. Ate at the bar with the gf. Awesome fried chicken sandwich with hot honey, and a great turkey club. Sandwiches are huge, onion rings option was sooo good!Had a few IPA’s. Joy behind the bar loves her job and it shows! Casey was finishing her last day there before moving and they were both a delight to talk to!

We had a delicious breakfast in this cute, clean restaurant in downtown New Paltz. I enjoyed the tacos with scrambled eggs, avocado and fresh fruit bowl while my husband loved the Highland Heights and his cappuccino. Great food, friendly service and careful attention to my food allergies—- we will be back soon!

This week, I have gone to Underground three days in a row! The food is always exceptionally good and the staff are delightful. On Saturday, New Paltz was incredibly crowded because of parent's weekend and an apple festival; the wait was a little longer but, the food was STILL delicious and the staff were on top of everything and as cheerful and kind as can be. It's my new favorite place !

Came in today for the first time after taking a bus into town from port authority. The food was so good but the service was incredible. Brendan and Joy have great recommendations and made me feel so comfortable and welcome. Amazing staff, I will definitely be back.

We did takeout 2 meals and 2 coffees - everything was ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS - the roast beef sandwich and the burger my husband had were SO good and thet always do a really good honey cinnamon latte they make sure the honey is melted in so it's not all cold at the bottom of your iced latte. 10/10 great food and great coffee.

Second visit was lunch with my brother-in-law and I went with the breakfast tacos — easily the best choice I made that month. Today I ordered online for lunch pickup and tried the Benny Boi, which was another hit. The first two times I came in, it was slow and quiet, which I personally loved. Today at noon, the place was packed and buzzing — there was even a wait list. You could tell the staff were moving nonstop, but they still stayed composed, friendly, and efficient. Shoutout to the whole crew. I didn’t catch the names of the women working the bar, but they were hustling and still providing excellent service. The cooks in the back deserve credit too — I haven’t met them, but the food speaks for itself. I rarely leave Google reviews (this is only my second), and that’s because when I do, it’s for places that truly deserve recognition. Underground Coffee & Ales has earned it. Highly recommend.

I came here mid-day on Tuesday before thanksgiving, a little date with my boyfriend to celebrate the start of school break! The food was great. I got the French Toast which was delicious, with an iced latte w/ caramel syrup and it was impressively good! My boyfriend got a steak with eggs and home fries, which he devoured. It was also really well priced, coming from a college student lol!

We loved our experience here. We came with our dog and were seated in the outside patio. My only gripe is as an Ecuadorian-American, I LOVED to see llapingachos on the menu. It was a pleasant surprise, BUT no where in the menu did it say it was Ecuadorian which broke my heart since Ecuadorian cuisine is sooo underrated and doesn’t get enough credit as is. Underneath that, the menu item is “Turkish eggs” so why is there no mention of Ecuador? Since the location is predominantly white American, it seems like they just “took” our dish without giving proper credit. I’m sure the cooking staff introduced it, so management should do better by including where it’s from in order to celebrate the origins of the dish. I hope they update the menu accordingly. Otherwise, good place.

The one negative was inattentive service even though the restaurant was fully staffed and nearly empty. We had to get our server’s attention multiple times for water refills or even to place our order.

I loved the food. My friend and I both ordered coffee, we split a toast, and each ordered an entree. I ordered the chicken and waffles (amazing), and she ordered the biscuits and gravy. I had a bite of her food and it was also great. The coffee was also amazing. The food is a little pricey, but right on par for New Paltz and totally worth the price for how great it was. The food came out on time and our server kept our cups full of water. Overall, great. However, the one thing that really upset me was that once we were done eating and paid, we were sitting and chatting and we were asked to leave to give the table to the next guest (to reduce wait for them). Between two coffees, an app, and two entrees, we dropped about $60 on brunch (again totally appropriate given the quality of the food and the area). However, that amount of money should allow us to sit and talk after we enjoyed our brunch on Sunday morning. Regardless of how good the food was, that put a really bad taste in my mouth about the service. The ambiance of the restaurant was really great but besides the time to eat our meal, we weren't given the time to appreciate it. I'd really recommend training your staff to allow customers to enjoy their time at the restaurant instead of rushing them out. Giving customers the time at the restaurant, will encourage them to come back.

10/04/25 Timeline of 4 people lunch 50 minutes from being seated to get fried pickles (fresh and crispy) 1 hour to get chips and spinach dip (great dip, slightly under salted) 1 hour 20 minutes for sweet corn (ok) 1 hour 35 minutes for cesar salad (fresh and crispy) 1 hour 45 minutes for rest of the order. Steak was bland and grainy Rest or food was mediocre Waitress non existent without a hint of care. Cashier shorted me when giving change. When confronted she threw $5.00 bill on the counter without a word of apology

Ordered online. Showed up and they closed early with a sign ob the door. I was standing out in the cold tried to call no answer. Knocked on the window to get staff insides attention. Horrible customer service instead of calling and notifying the customer the staff reported they cancelled the order and did a refund but did not notify me the customer with enough time to order food anywhere else before other businesses have closed for the night.

Ordered online. Showed up and they closed early with a sign ob the door. I was standing out in the cold tried to call no answer. Knocked on the window to get staff insides attention. Horrible customer service instead of calling and notifying the customer the staff reported they cancelled the order and did a refund but did not notify me the customer with enough time to order food anywhere else before other businesses have closed for the night.
