Awesome food, awesome owner, always makes sure you’re taken care of. Try the Chana masala and Jamaican dumpling
I am a huge Indian Cuisine fan and Bawarchi's simply offers great food for an amazing price. The Biryani is rivaled only by my significant other's mother (who's from India) and the Garlic Naan is soft, buttery, and pairs perfectly with the other dishes. The Chicken Tikka Masala is absolutley perfect and I get it every time I dine there. I don't care where I am in the city, if I want Indian food I am going to Bawarchi. Even more, the owner is kind and a great guy. He has remembered us every time we come in to eat and we have never had a negative experience. In summary: Great owner, great prices, great food. I can't emphasize choosing Bawarchi enough.
If I could give this place 10 stars I would!!!! Aziz took my order and he is one ofthe most polite people you will ever speak to. I am learning to eat spicy food so I really appreciate that they tone down the heat level and make my orders with such care! I never really ate Indian food too many times because a lot of the restaurants gave me the "hello its Indian food so of course it's spicy so get over it attitude". Not this place. They truly care about customer satisfaction and went above and beyond! This is my second time ordering. This time I ordered the Shrimp Biriyani, I ordered my favorite which is the Saag Paneer with Basmati rice, the spinach Samosas, garlic Naan and cheese Naan, and last but not least something I have been dying to try for the longest, Gulab Jamun (dessert). I had tried to order the Aloo Tikya but unfortunately, they were out but, Aziz recommended another type of Aloo (potato in Hindi) appetizer and I don't remember what it was called but oh my gosh it was delicious! My 14 year old son, who HATES vegetables, really loved the batter-dipped cauliflower appetizer (sorry I forgot what it is called) along with the Kheer (rice pudding). I love learning about other cultures especially when I get to try such wonderful cuisine. I'm already scanning the menu to see what I might want to order next week! This restaurant is literally a hidden diamond in East Harlem and you're missing out if you haven't been here yet. Not sure about what to order? Ask for Aziz, he is always glad to help!
After being envious of one of my coworker’s amazing looking and smelling lunch from here, I went to check it out. It’s been my favorite spot since. Great buffet!
Excellent Lunch Buffet. Lots of choices (Indian, Jamaican, American dishes). Great Indian food in the neighborhood. Cheaper than the new branch that opened on 97th street. Friendly owner committed to making your food experience positive.
We order from here almost every week. Great gluten-free options and everything is super tasty. The actual restaurant is pretty small for dining in but they deliver very fast!
Great Indian food with excellent customer service. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for a range from mild to spicy Indian food. Great delivery service as well. Also the price is reasonable and you get what you pay for.
Nice place to get Indian takeout for lunch. The owner is very friendly
I love this place! I always take out and order the goan shrimp it's so great I can't bring myself to try anything else!!! One of the most memorable experiences was my second try, about a year ago ( and yes it's still yummy, I'm just a procrastinator.) The gentleman who picked up happened to be the chef and suggested I try the extra large shrimp instead of the standard size. He kindly requested I call back afterwards to share if I liked it, or even if I didn't. Well I forgot to call that night, but wanted to oblige him, so the next day I called back to tell him how much I loved the upgrade, to my shock not only did he remember my voice,he remembered my name! Whoa now that's customer service with a side of hospitality! such a rare gift this day in age!!! Every single time I order it's great,I even love the cauliflower appetizer, forgive me but I forget the name. My added confirmation was going to other Indian restaurants and ordering goan..... whatever and the flavor and taste never lives up. Try them, such a gem!
Amazing buffet! All their dishes are yummy and it is authentic Indian food.. very reasonable and very good uncle who owns the restaurant.. their mango lassi is proper and not diluted, so is their chicken biriyani! Good find close to workplace!
Food is delicious! Service is sweet. Try the chicken biryani rice! It will not let you down.
this place is really great amazing atmosphere really good food and prices. the person there is really nice
Very flavorful Indian food. Well priced, friendly owner.
Great spot for authentic Indian food. Everything is fresh and tasty.
This is the best food on the block by far, the customer service is SO AMAZING, the man aziz is the friendliest guy you will ever meet, 100/10 I come here often and never have a problem, the food is amazing and healthy, such a large variety of food
Very good, full and full of aroma rather than chilli. I have tried three things and all are awesome epsecially Chane and Tikka Masala. Saag paneer was so delicius which i never found anywhere else. I would recommend try to Chane which you will never find anywhere else. Very nice and decent staff.
It's a good place and the owner is very good person
Absolutely loved this place. Great Indian food with many selections. Customer service is great too. Highly recommended.
The food here is delicious! The naan bread is so fresh and the dishes are super flavorful. I am not sure why this place doesn't have higher ratings. It's a bit pricey, but it's really good!
I always go there for lunch. They have a wide variety of dishes, and I choose what I want depending on the day. The chicken tikka masala is especially delicious. The owner is friendly and always helpful.
I love it here I always get my lunch from here - amazing selection great flavor! Mango lassi is the best in the city
Amazing food, Amazing hospitality!! I came to this establishment with my mother, we ate everything that was on our plates and some!! I know for a fact we will be back soon!!
Cheap Indian/carribian buffet, everything was great!
Great lunch for the price. Owner is super friendly.
Great local place for lunch while at work. Indian and Caribbean selection.
Food was great and service was even better. The owner gave me a free naan on top of the one that comes with the food and was extremely friendly.
Food here is so good and the owner is really kind. I pick up lunch here often.
Great little Indian take out buffet. Food is flavorful and delicious, I would definitely come back again and again. Is it the best out there? Definitely the best in the local neighborhood but it won't be winning any awards soon. In terms of the place, there is a small place for sitting and eating if you must but it's a carry out place.
Great food and service. Try their general tso chicken!!!
The food is delicious Indian and Caribbean with a lot of options. In the price range I haven’t found this anywhere.
Great food, great service!
Great and affordable food, Hunter students get a free soda and naan with their order. A lot of variety in the food. All food is halal
The kathi rolls (chicken tikka and paneer) were very delicious and the owner was very kind, will definitely go back
There are a lot of food spots in the area but this place is the best. Not only is the food incredible, but the owner is one of the kindest humans I’ve ever met. He really looks out for his regular customers and treats them like family. I’m a huge fan of the chicken tikka masala but all the other options are top tier.
I love this place!! I recommend the butter chicken and mango lassi.
I had an incredible dining experience at this Indian restaurant. The food is not only delicious but truly authentic, with rich flavors and perfectly balanced spices that show real care and tradition in the cooking.
The food at Bawarchi is always fresh and has a great selection. I always find myself coming back often. I really enjoy the chicken tikka masala, saag paneer, and channa masala. Bawarchi just feels like they care about making the food authentic and is flavorful. Would highly recommend!
Excellent "hole-in-the-wall" Indian-American with a lunch buffet option. Try the kathi rolls and samosa chat, authentic and delicious!
I work nearby and often stop in for takeaway lunch, and it's consistently great. The food is fresh and flavorful, with a lot of variety and for a great price. The place is always clean and well maintained, and the staff are warm and welcoming.
This place has some AMAZING chicken tikka masala & garlic naan ! Food is always so fresh & the staff is nice as well highly recommend !!!!!!
For a small restaurant on the upper east side, Bawarchi punches above it's weight class. It is simply some of the best if not THE best Indian food I have had in NYC. It's hard to describe but there is a richness to the flavor profiles that distinguishes it from other Indian restaurants in the city. I'm a big fan of the butter chicken, tika masala, korma, vindaloo, and chana masala. It is a must try for Indian cuisine lovers. They also do buffet style serving for lunch where you pay by weight!! I love popping over for lunch.
I go all the time, very good price, very fresh food. Highly recommend
Very nice foods they have everything is very delicious. Posted by M.Alam I ❤️ his foods
Great spot for mix and match classic Indian dishes with veggies and everything , and comes with Naan. Cheap and quality !
Yummy yummy, butter chicken is my regular go to 😁! Everyone is very nice, love this place
Delicious food and a very welcoming owner! Everything tasted fresh and authentic- highly recommend this place.
We had the lamb biriyani and chicken tikka masala. Both were flavorful and tasty. And the owner/oeprator Aziz was super friendly. Definitely recommend
The best Indian food I've ever had in Manhattan (and I’ve tried a lot)!! The owner is so incredibly kind and very helpful when trying to navigate the menu with sever allergies. The paneer tikka masala is my favorite dish! I come often for lunch as well as ordering takeout for dinner. The restaurant itself is very unassuming, but it is definitely a must try.
Food was amazing, tried the masala dosa and chicken tikka kathi roll and would definitely recommend both! Aziz sahab was super welcoming and gave great menu suggestions! Must try spot.
this place is wonderful!! the food is incredible and the staff are all lovely 🫶 i always come here to eat out for lunch and i wouldn’t change it for the world
Food is affordable and tastes great. Customer service is also great. I'll definitely be coming again.
Great Indian food. Best lunch in the area. Fresh and tasty. Highly recommend.
Had the butter chicken and it is so good. Very authentic. I’ll be going here again and again!!!! I recommend this restaurant!!!!
Great place to have lunch. Very good Indian and Caribbean food. Always quality!
I work in the area and I am always on the hunt for great eats. When I stumbled upon bawarchi’s it was a goldmine (for food of course). This buffet style Restaurant offers a mix of indian and Caribbean cuisine! From jerk chicken to butter chicken bawarchi’s is the best place to get a home style meal for a decent price. The owner is a generous and friendly man, he is thoughtful & makes sure all his customers feel valued. Highly recommended! 10 out of 10 I recommend getting the white rice with curry Chana, and a side of garlic naan **chefs kiss* Thank you for the amazing service Bawarchi ❤️
This place is the most amazing place to eat.. food is top notch.. Manager is the most friendly and funniest guy. You should visit whenever you pass..
Delicious! Always has tasty vegan options. Fairly priced
This is a great spot for takeout Indian and international food. I work close by and grab either fish, chicken, beef or Indian style cooked dishes. The place is small but the food is well cooked and deliciously flavored. They have an excellent variety of dishes including fresh and cooked vegetables. Really a hidden gem to get yummy food on the fly.
The food is fresh and flavorful. It’s reasonable for the quality of the food. I always send my team here whenever we have a job in the area. They give freshly baked Nan too. Lots of vegetarian option. I have been coming here at least for 5-6 years.
This food cuisine is so diverse! Every time I come by there’s new options. Owner gives very generous student discounts. The best spot for comforting Indian food!
My go-to lunch buffet when I'm in a rush. The variety of options never dissapoints. Favorite is the saag paneer. Friendly and quick service.
Really great lunch buffet that changes every day! The owner is super friendly and helpful, and visiting brightens my day every time.
The staff is very friendly, especially the manager John. He's very welcoming..If you need some real delicious and tasty food. This is the place to be.I must tell you they offer Jamaican food aswell.Prepared by a Jamaican chef.I had chicken tikka masala, curried chick peas,Jerk chicken,Oxtail,Rice and Peas.Yummy!!
One of my go-to spots for chai and paratha! Always friendly service and great chats while waiting for the delicious food. Doesn’t disappoint!
A go-to lunch spot! Friendly service and an awesome value for money. You pay by weight. Lots of great options to choose from. So far I’ve had the beef stew and jerk chicken with Rasta pasta and mac n’ cheese. So yummy!
Great little deli with amazing Indian food! The fried shrimp are a must try, and they often have special Indian dishes in addition to the regular menu. The owner, Aziz uncle, is super friendly and cheerful, which makes the visit even nicer. Not much seating inside, but its perfect for takeout. Highly recommend!
Come here everyday at my lunch break.verity food option.overall taste is very good.my personal favorites are pasta meatballs and the samosas where delicious!the owner is very friendly too.lowkey it’s a great place.loved it 10/10
Great Indian and other types of Carribean and American food at affordable prices .I've known the owner for years and very nice man who talk restaurants with
Bawarchi makes the most delicious kati rolls and dosas in the whole city. Their prices are amazing and Aziz really cares about the quality of his food and provides excellent service. I have been coming here since before the pandemic and it's never fallen short of superb yet. This is one of my most treasured casual spots in the city, and I hope they are around for a long time. If I lived in the upper east side instead of Sunnyside, I would order dinner from here once a week minimum. Ok, enough talk, time to eat this dosa.
I love going to this place for lunch! The lunch buffet is a great deal and always good food. The owner is also super nice. Highly recommend going here!
Great lunch spot for yummy Indian and Caribbean food! Love the Chana masala and saag paneer!
Authentic Indian food here, customer service is always great as well, no complaints!!

I go here for lunch practically everyday I work. Food is amazing with great variety and suitable for all different types diets. Owner is very personable and makes it a point to know each customer that walks through the doors' names. Great service. And prices are the best you'll find on the block!
I am astounded. Wandered in as I'm working in the area, ended up finding the best Indian buffet I've ever been to. I wish I had two stomachs. Literally everything I tried from the Butter Chicken, to Naan, to Beef Stew and Fish was too notch. Hight recommend.
Bawarchi is hands down the best place for lunch in the neighborhood! This small place manages to produce an amazing buffet every day. The Indiian food section is simply incredible - the spices are fresh, the selection varied and creative - well beyond the expected dishes - and they are very thoughtful about offered vegetarian and vegan options. Highly recommend!
Great food and a wonderful owner who is lovely to chat with. Have been twice with my friend and have left both times with full stomachs, good memories, and a desire to return back quickly. Everyone should check this out when they are in the area!!!
The atmosphere and service were top notch!! He is so friendly and answers any questions you have. The food was amazing. I had the lunch buffet and could try a little of everything.
The food here was exquisite!!🙃 My friend and I had the curry chicken with the stew and the rice. The jasmine rice was made perfectly and the meat and vegetables were amazing as well. $50 dollars well spent!
This place is amazing when you need a quick and filling bite. Everytime me and my friends come here we are immediately welcomed by the owner who is always in lively spirits. As soon as you enter he's ready with a joke or greeting. This is good spot for students or anyone that wants a hearty meal. They serve a verity of authentic Indian cuisines as well as other dishes too. Usually with whatever order you get its served with freshly made naan and water. If eating healthy is important for you they also have good options for that as well. As a drink would recommend trying the Mango Lassi but if you want something sweet in general they have cake that changes every week. Surprisingly the store is never too crowded especially midday during lunch hours so it's a good place if you want somewhere new to try. There's plenty of seats if you want to come along with colleagues or friends and I've definitely made my fair share of memories here. If you ever walk by definitely stop in!!
As I happen to be in the area, I came across this small restaurant. Since I love both Indian and Carribean food I decided to give this place a try. I must say the food was absolutely great. Although the buffet was almost gone, I was able to get some curry chicken, jerk chicken, and rice. I also ordered the curry goat with rice, and a side a naan (which was made to order). Both dishes was very tasty and delicious. I would absolutely recommend this place and I will be back!!!!
This place is pretty good. It’s a hot buffet at a very reasonable price with a wide selection of Indian foods (butter chicken, beef curry, biryani, etc) + Jamaican jerk chicken and Chinese general Tso chicken. Even with such a wide range of foods, everything was very thoughtfully and tastefully prepared. The owner was quite friendly and sociable too. A great spot for an easy lunch experience or takeout, especially if you’re coming out of the north side of the park. Chai was great too
I have been coming to this place for lunch for around half a year now, and I must say that Bawarchi has never disappointed. There is always a wide selection of food to choose from (buffet-style during lunchtime), but even the baseline menu has been consistently delicious no matter how many times I’ve ordered the same thing. The owner is incredibly nice and clearly cares about his customers, and the prices are very reasonable! I cannot recommend this place enough, so if you’re even just a little curious, definitely come check it out!

Very good. I ordered the Bawarchi special combo: one appetizer and an entreé. I are my Lakota, I was too full to eat the entree. Mildly spiced (my request) but just a kick of heat. I will order again. The delivery was fast, I'm on the Westside and the restaurant is on the East side, my food was still hot upon arrival. Delivery was within thirty minutes of me planning my order.
This place is my go to when I crave some authentic Indian food. There were times when food wasn’t as tasty as it was the previous times. I called the restaurant and the owner made sure he supervised the order and also followed up with me on my order afterwards. Doesn’t disappoint at all and the portions are good size & worth it. You’ll get your food delivered in under 45mins. Good service and Good food
My New Indian delivery place! Finally I found a authentic tasting biryani! The best Biryani I've had in NYC so far. Try their lamb and goat Biryanis sooo good. A little bit on the spicy side .
During the work day week, Bawarchi is one of my go to places for nutritious, tasty, and filling food. During certain time periods, I eat mainly vegetarian and need to go to restaurant or local food locations that authentically understand my dietary need. The channa masala and idli sambar are two of my favorites from here. It's vegetarian and delicious. If I am eating non-veg, I enjoy the Lamb Rogan Josh with basmati rice from time to time. I often enjoy fresh made Chai from here is the early mornings on my long office days.
The food is ok. Great hospitality and in general, great deal for the food but I'd pay a little more for a little better Indian food. It's worth a try though to see if it caters to your tastes
A few other people here and on Yelp said they couldn't believe how greasy the food is here, so I decided to join in. I got a saag dish and lasooni gobi (cauliflower) that was swimming in oil/ghee? The cauliflower was so mushy and oily we threw it out. Potatoes in these dishes were soaked with fat. Even the rice seemed heavy/greasy. I want this restaurant to do well - the flavors were good, but I hope they begin to take it easy on the grease/oil/ghee.
Only giving 5 stars because the food is great. However, attitudes suck when it comes to delivery. They'll ask for your number then according to who you are they'll tell you they dont deliver. What they quietly do not know is that i also frequent there in person. You cannot blame the customer and lie and say you do not deliver, when you guys kept getting the order wrong, its your fault your delivery guy had to come back more than once. Whoever answers the phone there gets frustrated very quickly, no patience at all. Cannot blame a good paying customer for your mistakes. The food is work 5 stars, but the attitudes for delivery made me only give 2 stars
The manager had very poor customer service as I'm ordering through the website and the lunch-box clearly states veggie samosas comes with the lamb/goat lunch box and he's arguing with me on the phone stating it was an error on the website and he wont grant the samosas. All of this over samosas and asked it can be delivered after 4 hours. Worst experience as delivery, food is bland, Very non-professional and irrational customer service. His name is supposedly John(Manager)
Ordered paneer katti roll and pav Bhaji. Pav was stale and microwaved, the paneer in the Katti roll seemed old and was kinda sour. The manager had a bit of an attitude and the food was not worth the 17$. Haha the place was a bit dirty too. Regret going there. You live and you learn
I love Indian food -- I ordered from here randomly to try different restaurants. In all honesty the only thing that was edible were the vegetable samosas. Chicken Tikka Masala tasted a week old, the naan was extremely chewy and clearly not fresh. To say it was a disappointing experience would be an understatement. I reached out to them about my feedback and no response.
Mis advertising. I have been eating lunches there since they opened. Tonight I wanted to take food and they wanted to charge much more. They misrepresent the price on the add inside the restaurant and did treat me as "stupid" and as a person that cannot read the add. They mis advertised the price of the box . They only wrote "$10 for the box of food" no time limit was indicated. The owner is very irrational and cheap. I will never go back after almost 4 years of eating there and helped the owner with expanding his business, by giving flyers of the new restaurant to my fellow workers in the hospital where I work. The owner raised his voice and stated "You don't know how to read the sign. What do you have in your brain?" His cook tried to calm him down but he did not acknowledge his mistaken and misleading sign.
They served us spoiled food. When informed about the Sambar which had long gone down south... The person on the counter asked his employee to taste it and says its good, only to take it off the buffet while we were still there. Would not recommend this place to anyone.
The person at the counter is nice but can’t the same about food & the hygiene seemed questionable too!
Worst experience ever. Rude staff and complete shitty food.
Wanted to have some nice hyderabadi food. So Ordered pav bhaji, lamb shahanshahi Biryani here- i am not at all happy with the food, In Pav Bhaji - Bhaji was smelling bad and was having too sour taste. Looks like its couple days old food. And biryani taste was also worst. Sorry but i would never order anything from here anymore , neither i would recommend anyone. If they serve this kinda food in this pandamic its dangerous for health. When i complained them Re food. They tried to offer me free food . I would never accept even a free food from this location. Sorry guys My experience is not at all good.
This is the WORST PLACE. INSIDE SO DIRTY. FOOD WAS NOT GOOD AT ALL!!! THE OWNER HAD AN ATTITUDE. NOT FRIENDLY WHAT SO EVER. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE TO NO ONE. DONT BOTHER WASTING YOUR MONEY!!!
Pathetic food! Ordered paneer parantha that had negligible to no filling. Despite mentioning that it is for a toddler, it was dry, hard and no stuffing!
