I’ve been coming to Bombay Chowk for almost 3 years and it feels like home. The ambience is beautiful, unique and very traditional, its like an Indian museum. I brought my friends here after visiting the Indian gallery of The Met and they were really impressed. The service is excellent. The staff is super friendly and always welcoming. You can really feel that this is a local, community-driven place, not a tourist spot. Highly recommended!

The best Indian food that I have had in the city so far. The food is incredible and the staff could not have been any nicer. Rosie was an excellent server, very welcoming, friendly and fantastic service. Api the manager (I apologize if I misspelled your name) was also great, welcoming and accommodating. We will definitely be back and will tell our friends.

Wow! That was so delicous!!! We had visited Bombay Chowk a few times over the last few years but had never become a regular as we had never walked away having been amazed. But idk what changed, the food was SOOOO good today. We had the new lamb samosa, lamb biryani, chicken makhani and garlic naan. Everything was so delicous. Every bite a burst of flavor. Either I was ordering the wrong things during my previous meals, or the chef changed, or idk, to tonight they hit the mark for me and I was very impressed. I can't wait to go back!!! (We spent our entire walk back hom talking about how crazily good the food was today)

Bombay Chowk serves exquisite food in a whimsical fantasy setting that takes you on a magical culinary adventure. Deepak, the owner, is a warm and wise host. Antika, one of the wonderful servers, is a charming, smart and funny NYU student who gave us expert recommendations. The sauces are indulgent and creamy and the naan is pillowy and luxurious. The spices are fresh, fragrant, and layered in a sophisticated yet unfussy way. I would eat here every day if I could! Honorable mentions: - Malai Kofta - Coriander Saag Paneer - Poori and Naan - Cumin Rice

There are a lot of restaurants in this neighborhood and we considered many of them, but warm glow exuding from Bombay Chowk's open door, and the sight of the Bollywood film projected into an ornate arch on the back wall pulled us in. The interior design is luxurious and magical. The staff are very friendly and when we left we felt as though we'd made new friends. We didn't really try any of the usual familiar North or South Indian standards (I mean, other than the garlic nan and wonderful pulao rice), because Deepak guided us to a street food appetizer that wasn't on the menu (trust Deepak). I would heartily recommend the Smoked Baingan Bharta, and a chicken dish cooked in a rich mint and coriander sauce. You can spend much less than we did: we ordered extra to take home. Looking at the menu now there are a large number of different dishes it may be worth making a trip to Lenox Hill to try. Thanks all, for a lovely evening and see you again soon.

Went with a colleague on a weekday afternoon for lunch. The food was really good. We started off with the Egg Chops that were different and tasty. Loved the Malabari and Xacuti Chicken. The flavor was just right and not very overwhelming. The spice level was good, nothing crazy. The entrees do not come with rice and the quantity could have been a bit more but that's me just being critical. Biryani was good but I would say their entrees were better. The presentation of the food, service and ambience was excellent and I would surely go back! So, I went back a year later and had Poori Bhajji, Gobi Lasooni and Jackfruit caluni. All three were great. They got the Bhajji spot on and the Jackfruit gravy was cilantro based gravy, really good taste and not spicy. Yes, I will still go back.

Bombay Chowk in Manhattan offers an amazing dining experience with a great atmosphere and delicious food. The Yakini Chicken Biryani was flavorful and well-balanced, while the Malwani Chicken had the perfect blend of spices, making it a standout dish. The Garlic Naan was soft, fragrant, and complemented the meal beautifully. Ordering medium spice was just right, adding the perfect kick without overwhelming the flavors. Highly recommend for anyone craving authentic Indian cuisine!

My wife and I randomly went here for dinner. And what a great find it was! The owner was very enthusiastic about trying true authentic Indian food and not just eating the typical food that mainstream had over killed. He was very good in determining what spices we like in our dish and very hospitable. And it turns out that he had been to the Philippines and knows how to speak in Tagalog, which was pleasantly surprising. We definitely had our tummies filled with great flavor and beyond satisfaction. We highly recommend coming here!

The ambiance was perfect for our birthday celebration, creating an intimate atmosphere. The team went above and beyond, providing attentive service throughout our time there. Last but certainly not least, the dishes were authentically delicious, each dish beautifully plated and served with passion ~ there even was an allergen question which was answered immediately! Our experience was exceptional, kudos to Deepak & his team. I highly recommend it for any private event or to enjoy great Indian food!

Absolutely perfect meal here at Bombay Chowk. It was our first visit here and there will be many more. We had the tandoori broccoli, the egg appetizer, crab curry and salmon curry. All were delicious! The garlic naan was exceptional and the rice was flavorful. The owner made the best suggestions so if you have no allergies just leave the menu up to him! Lovely ambiance, fun music and super friendly service. The special dessert was also a wonderful end to the meal. Can’t wait to try more suggestions of his in the future. Highly recommended!

I would say this restaurant was above average in food, but nothing really stood out as amazing. And some things were just OK. Naan was great, fluffy. Saag paneer was also really good. Lamb vindaloo was just OK. Butter chicken was good. Dosa lack crispy shell, so a bit disappointing. Entrees don't include rice, so plan accordingly. Was surprised to see a 20% tip already added, we had 2 adults and 2 kids, so not a large party. Service was good, so not annoyed by the tip but didn't see any mention of this policy.

They started rushing us and the four other tables out 30 minutes before closing time on a Friday night. Cleared one of our plates without asking, left the receipts on the tables, and turned the lights up. Five minutes later, they brightened the lights even more. For their prices, you’d expect better service. Regarding the prices- they do not have a drink menu, so the beer they suggested was unexpectedly $14. The entree didn’t come with rice, so they offered us a choice of rices which added $6. They were not upfront about these prices when we were ordering and we were surprised when we got the check.

Ordered old style chicken Bharta dish and it’s just few boiled pieces of chicken in a sweet tomato gravy. I think the cook is not from India and thus messed up a very common dish so miserably. The rotis were well. The decor is very good and the ambience is warm. Provided that should match the quality of the food as well. Quite expensive prices in the menu may be due to the location.

Why would you add so much oil to food? I don't know if it makes it tasty, but definitely it makes it really unhealthy. And sometimes stains clothes and I'm sure you don't own well for this particular oil that you used. Try thinking about ppl cholesterol and fat.

The reviews might not be legitimate; he incentivizes you to leave a 5 star review for a discount. Food here was decent. We had the goat mirwani, chicken korma, chicken biryani, garlic naan, and a bunch of other dishes. Each dish was flavorful and was well seasoned. I think the best dish was the goat malvani (special item). Very tender, hearty, and savory. The only thing I can say is that a lot of the meats were overcooked, and some of the dishes like the naan were very lightly seasoned. The atmosphere is very colorful and vibrant. The service is what needs to improve. The old man who I believe was the owner, essentially told other seated customers that they needed to leave to make room for others. He was also super commanding in telling us where to put plates on the table, what we should order, etc. Menu suggestions are one thing, but commands are another.

I have been here twice in the last year. The same manager has served us both those times. He is also the owner. Last year, we ordered an eggplant dish that is nut free and it came with peanuts and I had an allergic reaction, I had told them multiple times before hand and he assured us which was not true. When we told him it had nuts and I had a reaction, The manager was so oblivious and lost that he was just like "oh what happened in the kitchen?" and then he went back and replaced the dish. Fast forward to present day, we went to celebrate my mother's birthday. As vegetarians, we were served lamb biryani even though we ordered jackfruit. All the silverware was replaced and half of my other curry was on the same plate as the lamb and they took that back but didnt replace the curry and so we paid for it even though it had to be thrown out. Then the manager didnt even know if a certain dish had nuts in it even after serving it and then assuring us. A table of two had walked in and the other waiter was hurrying us out rudely so he could seat another table. I am physically eating and he takes my plate from my hands. I told him im still eating and he asks us if we are done with the other food? Like what? No? and the audacity he had, to put his finger in the bowl when pointing to the food. the manager got mad at him too. All in all food is good. They need to fix the kitchen and the sloppiness. would not recommend to those with allergies. They dont care and if anything happens they will let you have the reaction and also make you pay for it which is fine but I would have at least expected them to at least replace the dish otherwise we are paying for nothing. I have been to shacks of restaurants in the middle of South America with better organization and care.
