Was parked outside of their 45th St. restaurant and decided to give them a try. They made me the Freshest Falafel sandwich I’ve ever had…. Delicious. I don’t expect to find a better one anywhere else… Really.

I was visiting NY for my birthday from DC and stumped across Butterflied and was unsure. The owner was extremely helpful on making food choice. The meal was delicious and service was impeccable. You will not be disappointed!

I've been dining at Butterfield Chicken on 45th Street for close to two weeks now, both breakfast and dinner. Let me tell you, this spot is consistent. If you're a chicken lover, you're going to want to get over here. Their chicken is no joke. It's grilled to perfection, and you've got options. Whether you like it spicy, herbed, or classic, they've got you covered. I'm usually a to-go guy, and while you wait, they've got frappes on offer. It's not on the house, but man, is it a good companion while you wait. Now, let's talk about their chicken chops. If you're into flavors that pack a punch, this dish is a must-try. And guess what? Your wallet is going to thank you; it's priced way better than similar joints in the area. Health nuts, take note: they advertise their chicken as range-free. That's like the cherry on top. So Max, one of the owners, was extremely welcoming and helpful! He brought over his homemade honey mustard and spicy bbq sauces, which were fire. We had the lamb-beef kabobs which were tender and tasty, they didn’t skimp on the flavor that’s for sure. And the chicken quinoa salad, in which the chicken was also very flavorful and went really well with the honey mustard sauce. The baklava was phenomenal as well. And the music is bumping, such a vibe. I’m leaving super satisfied with a healthy and happy stomach and we will be marking this on our maps for the future! This place should be packed at all times.

We visited Butterflied Chicken last night, and it was a delightful experience. The menu offers a great variety of both authentic and fusion Greek dishes in a casual setting. The restaurant was exceptionally clean, and the staff were incredibly welcoming and helpful. We tried the Chicken Souvlaki and Chicken Gyros, both of which were delicious and fresh. This place is great! We were looking for a quick but yet delicious lunch near our hotel and this was the place! We really enjoyed the Greek egg-lemon-chicken soup. The chicken was delicious as was the hummus and pita. So happy we stopped here!

A Kind and Memorable Experience at Butterfield Chicken Our kids were craving shawarma and were excited to spot Butterfield Chicken near 5th Avenue. Unfortunately, when we walked in, we were told the kitchen had just closed. Disappointed, we were about to leave, but the owner/manager kindly offered to let the kids use the restroom — a small gesture that already stood out. As we were leaving, we asked if he knew of any other nearby shawarma spots. To our surprise, he offered to personally make shawarma gyros just for the kids, despite the kitchen being closed. That level of kindness and hospitality is rare, especially in a busy city like NYC. The food was tasty and fresh, but what truly made the experience memorable was his genuine care and willingness to go the extra mile. We’re so grateful for people and businesses like this — thank you for making our evening special!

Wonderful service! A colleague and I accidentally placed the same order twice through a third party app. Once we realized, we contacted the restaurant immediately to cancel one of the orders. The employee on the phone was so nice and was able to cancel on his end. In order to do so, his only option was to state that they had a menu error -- which was untrue, but basically taking the blame for our mistake. So, wanted to leave a good review as a thank you!

Everything is fresh grilled to perfection, the menu has many options from soups salads sandwiches bowls platers and ala carte by the piece or whole chickens. Save room for dessert, also delicious and made in house. Also available and served ice cold Nescafe Frappe'. We enjoyed the BC chicken bowl, The drumstick platter, Greek Salad and the sides are amazing we enjoyed the corn in the cob, Greek Guac, roasted beets, and spicy hummus.

A wonderful discovery which we happened on by chance working on a Sunday afternoon in the neighborhood. WHAT a treat! We ordered by phone and the fellow who answered was patient and welcoming, clarifying the menu for us. (I ordered by phone so they could save fees) I ordered the Greek (Village) salad and a side of tsadziki and both were marvelous as was the bread which accompanied them. The salad was generous in size and the tomato, cucumber, onion and pepper were all fresh and the Greek dressing was light and delicious- very perfect. When I went to pick up our order it was like stepping into a familiar place where they'd known you for years-hospitable and attentive despite having a full house. I love how they pack the utensils cleverly into the thick napkin which by the way is also great quality. No skimping here. The meals I watched being prepared while waiting, were also generous and tempting- especially the chicken. I peeked at the sweets which I had to pass by and they looked authentically Greek and so tempting. We work nearby and look forward to visiting often because this is a healthy, delicious, fairly-priced meal option. Thank you!!!!!

The menu reminds me of home, with its fresh salads, comforting homemade soups, and delicious gyros in pita wraps “souvlaki” . The flavors are authentic, and the quality of the ingredients shines through in every bite. When we visited, we were greeted with a warm welcome, and the service was impressively quick. Despite being a fast-food concept, the portions were unexpectedly generous, leaving us more than satisfied. This is a place where you can enjoy light, wholesome meals without compromising on flavor. It’s become one of my go-to spots in the city. Highly recommended!

Food was great, would be even better if I got the chicken I ordered. (noticed too late) Beef kebab was very flavourful, didn’t realize there was pita in there till 1/2 way though!

So I’ve come here twice now. The first time I got their chicken salad which was a huge portion and tasted pretty good, but wasn’t anything amazing. The second time, I got their half chicken box, with a side salad. The roasted chicken itself was very good, but they covered it in too much sauce, so for a lot of the pieces all I could taste was their house sauce. The sauce wasn’t bad, was just a little too sweet, and because there was so much of it, it took away from the seasoning of the roasted chicken. Not sure I’ll come back a 3rd time, but if I did, I would ask for the sauce on the side and just dip the roast chicken in it, that way I can control how much sauce I use. The side salad was small and mainly just lettuce, I would not recommend adding that on.

8/2025 Update: The iconic Fly Fly Wings are no more! They've been replaced by generic wings (drums & flats). #Woefully gazing into my lunch box, while I dream of what once was. Butterflied Chicken should be a regular on your Lunch rotation. Each time I've eaten there, the food has been delicious, hot and fresh! I've dined in and done take-outs; the food has been consistent on all occasions.

If you like chicken and let's be honest who doesn't, and you like some variety in the ways it's prepared, Butterflied Chicken is worth your time. It takes a minute to figure out all the options and mix and match. The cashier will walk you through if you're a newbie. The open kitchen prepares your meal. And if you're eating in, someone will walk it to your table. My chicken gyro with tomato and cucumber salad was delicious. It wasn't exactly what I ordered but I was quite content. The one thing I think they need to work on is their pricing. My salad with added gyro chicken and a sparkling water plus gratuity came to almost $30. This was lunch for one in what could be described as an fast food+ environment. Others might define this establishment as fast casual. I get it's New York City, in the heart of midtown's theater district. You can certainly spend more. And I think I chose a combination that maybe upped the ante. Anyway, I'd like to recommend this locale. Great for lunch on a working day or a quick bite before matinee.

Got lunch here with a few friends. Someone reserved the table next to us with a bottle of wine which I found sort of funny. It is such a nice gesture and great idea but it was like mid afternoon so I just thought it was funny. Really amazing stuff. I got the chicken gyro which was great. I thought the chicken was flavored nicely and the vegetables inside the bread was great. Solid sandwich and atmosphere. My Beli gave it a 6.9 and I think it was around that. So solid place overall, not super excited about the prices but what can I do. It’s New York. Really what can they do you know. NYC so expensive. But nonetheless, great place.

Good quality chicken, good value. The half chicken was grilled and served with fresh crispy fries, pita, a small salad, and a sauce of choice on the side. I tried the mustard aioli, wouldn't get it again. But I will visit again for the grilled chicken and sandwiches, which looked good as well. All chicken is halal per their website and they also have a sign out in front, which is nice.

Delicious, quick, and reasonably priced chicken bites box. Chicken was really good, fries were plentiful, side salad a little blah but good once I threw in the side tomatoes and cucumbers from the box. Good deal for about $20, given the prices in the area. Would hit them up again.

The chicken on the gyro wrap could’ve used a little more seasoning or been a little more generous a serving, but overall great portion size for the price. The rice bowl was fantastic, would order again. Also several options for desert! Plenty of seating, and a tidy dining area. The bathroom is definitively weird, but clean and bright.

This was a great choice for a quick and delicious lunch. I love Mediterranean / Greek dishes. The Chicken “Klasico” bowl was a made fresh with flavorful ingredients. My associates ordered Chicken boxes which looked appetizing as well. It was a bit pricey in my opinion but overall I was satisfied with my meal and takeout experience.

Very good service, sadly i saw the chef screaming and cussing his coworkers, That made me really uncomfortable and made me leave with my husband since i speak spanish and he was saying really bad things. Food was really good tho! The bowls and the half chicken was delicious!

Good food , fresh! But whoever preparing those bowl ( orders) need to pay attention more. Last time I ordered Gyro chicken, when I picked it up and open it at my work instead of gyro it was kebab. And just right now I ordered my bowl with spicy feta spread, picked it up , came back at work , opened it , they forgot to add it.

For a place with Chicken in its name they really don’t know how to cook chicken. I got the quarter chicken box and was told they were cooking it fresh after waiting many minutes after my coworker received her 2 orders. So to my surprise after I took my first bite, the chicken was so dry I was struggling to actually swallow it. It feels more like chicken that’s been sitting out for hours and reheated. I do have to give it to them through the sauce and pita was very good but too bad the chicken ruined the entire dish.

I walked in first customer at 1045hrs and saw the chicken on the pit raw. I ordered the Giro Chicken and an order of fries to dine in. Food came out relatively fast but the chicken felt overnight and reheated. I did not see any cutting from the spit. The fries were definitely prepared fresh on the spot. I might do another order later in the day to test my theory. It’s a pity since they have received such good ratings.

This place was very disappointing. We ordered a chicken kebab which was pictured on their online menu as grilled chicken on a stick. We received a chicken meatball that was very spicy. I have no problem with spicy food, but we had ordered the meal for our 2 young children and they couldn’t eat it. We explained to the employee that this was not what we had expected and they said they could give us something else as long as we pay for it and wait 10min for them to make it (which did not seem very accommodating to me). If that’s how you make your chicken kebab that’s fine, but please don’t have a picture online that looks nothing like what you are actually serving. I had also ordered their lemon chicken soup and couldn’t eat it because the chicken tasted like it was several days old. Everything else was fine, but we were very disappointed given the good reviews this place seems to have. Maybe we just ordered the wrong items.

Very disappointed in the food, maybe I ordered the wrong thing. I got the chicken klassiko bowl which says says “rice, lentils, cucumber, tomato, onions and peppers and olives” so I was expecting a chicken bowl over rice. There is no mention of lettuce and yet I feel like I ordered a salad with a teaspoon of rice mixed in. The entire bowl is just romaine lettuce, barely anything else, I don’t see one pepper or olive and there is barely any tomatoes and cucumbers and the chicken is cold.

It’s better to go in person.. Delivery is a fail. Chicken had no seasoning & had tendons in every bite. Very unappetizing. How can you give someone wilted & old lettuce, would you eat old wilted lettuce? Would you serve your family old wilted lettuce? How is that presentable? Ive never seen such large cubed tomato’s … Not to mention the SPOONFUL of hummus. Why be so cheap? I don’t get it? I know this place can give quality food. But underwhelming wasn’t even the word. I tossed all my food. Please have your kitchen staff FIFO products, because who in their right mind just sells wilted lettuce!? All I can do is laugh.

This is a restaurant I was interested in while staying at a nearby Sofitel. I became more interested when I heard that they were doing Greek ‘healthy food’. This is because I remember eating delicious food while traveling to Athens last year. So on the last day of my trip to New York, I visited this place before heading to the airport. I visited around 11 am. I didn't have much time. But the owner said the food would be ready soon, so I placed my order and waited. There were only two customers in the restaurant. But even after 30 minutes, he didn't prepare my food. Instead, he asked twice, “What did you order?” asked. I asked them to hurry since I didn't have much time. Then the owner taunted me, saying he doesn't make fast food and telling me to leave the Wendy's next door. And later, food was given to one guest first. In the end, I had to leave as I ran out of time. The basis of running a restaurant is ‘manners.’ The owner here doesn't have that. The food he boasts about isn't much different from Wendy's. Thanks to the immigrant owners here, my pleasant trip to New York ended on a bad note. I wouldn't recommend it.

I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was upsetting enough that I feel compelled to share it. This was my second time visiting Butterflied Chicken. During this visit, the woman who initially attended to me made me feel genuinely welcome… “almost like I was at home” which makes what followed even more disappointing. After placing my takeout order, I was told it would be about 10 minutes, so I waited in my car and returned roughly 12–15 minutes later. While standing near the register, I noticed lemons being used as decoration. Out of simple curiosity, I picked one up briefly to see if it was real and immediately placed it back exactly where it was. Almost instantly, an employee approached me, told me to put the lemon back, and then insisted on seeing the pocket of the hand that touched it. It was very clear he believed I had taken something. Being treated like a thief over a decorative lemon was both shocking and humiliating. To eliminate any suspicion, I turned my pocket completely inside out to show I had nothing. He said “sorry,” but the interaction already left me feeling embarrassed and singled out. I stood there trying to gather myself while he walked away. Another staff member came over and asked if I had been helped. At that point, I felt so uncomfortable that I requested a refund. I was not trying to cause a scene…. I simply did not feel right accepting food after being accused of stealing. What made the situation worse was hearing that same employee say, “I still think he has it,” even after I had already proven that I didn’t. That comment was deeply insulting. Ironically, he was also the same person who later offered me an extra soda “for free,” as if that could somehow make up for accusing me of being a thief. A free drink does not erase the embarrassment of being publicly suspected and having to empty my pocket to prove my innocence. To be clear, their food is exceptional. I even said that to the staff. However, no quality of food justifies making a paying customer feel profiled, disrespected, and humiliated. I left the restaurant feeling unsettled and extremely disappointed. Customer service is not just about being friendly when things go right… it is about showing respect and good judgment at all times. I hope management takes this seriously, because no customer should ever be put in a position where they feel they have to prove they didn’t steal something.

Came here during lunch hour and waited over 20 minutes for the food. We ordered the chicken kebab wrap and the beef kebab wrap. Two bites in I realized that the chicken in my wrap was completely raw in the inside. The beef was also raw in the inside. It is so dangerous to be serving customers raw food even during a lunch rush. If you don't like raw chicken, don't eat here. Save yourself the disgust. (You can just walk down the street for kebabs at Antalia.)
