Opinions de Flaming Saddles Saloon New York
My new favorite gay bar! Unlike some of its sisters in the Hell's Kitchen area, the vibe at Flaming Saddles is super casual and not at all pretentious. LOVE the dancing bartenders!
I love this place unabashedly. It's ridiculous and wonderful. It's the campiest juke joint this side of Oil Can Harry's. The servers line dance on the bar. If you love country music and places that are a little out of the ordinary, you gotta see this. But don't forget, they only take cash!
Yeah this place was fun. The drinks are strong and extremely reasonably priced! And the people are legit some of the friendliest people in New York. The bartenders are attentive and hella good at their jobs. We’ll
I am not a bar person but this place was EPIC. I loved the atmosphere and how they knew how to entertain their customers. The dancing on the bar was GREAT. I would go again.
Here with friends and stopped in for some really cold beer on a hot NYC after. The bartenders were great and put on a great show. Highly recommend stopping by for a cocktail or cold beer. Cash only just so you know
They need to take cards it's crazy taking out cash...
One of the highlights of my entire vacation. It's a great bar and the drinks are good the vibe is great! Then the bartenders get up on the bar and line dance coyote ugly style down the bar!!! What an experience.
Great vibe especially if you want to party. The bartenders make good drinks and are very friendly, each time I've been there I had a great time whether it was to just grab one drink or a few.
Had a blast in this Dive bar good music good vibe very friendly bar tenders and bouncer are professional Cowboy dance are hot hella yes
The staff are also the performers. There's no way anyone can stay in a bad mood once you see the guys dancing on the bar. Loved this place!
Every time I’m in Manhattan I have to go to the Saddles. It’s a fun environment with dancing cowbois stomping on the wood bar, cheap drinks, and great country and related music on the juke box. Cash only.
Best place in town to watch RuPaul's drag race. Also very good buy one get one happy hour in Hell's kitchen. Maybe the best. Biggest audience for RuPaul in the city - and I mean what more could you ask for!?
I had a great time. The bartenders dancing on the bar really set the tone for a good time. 10/10 definitely recommend
Always a fun time and the bartenders are friendly!
We ran into this place while walking the street fair. It was a cool vibe and the staff was awesome. They dance on the bar to specific songs and have fun. It was a nice, safe break, from the crazy city outside. If you’re looking for the bathroom it’s down stairs below the “head” sign. Definitely recommend you to check this place out. We had a great time and enjoyed the environment
This is the absolute hang out place in New York City's gay scene. Perfectly located not far Times Square, the bartenders know how to entertain their guests and it doesn't make you want to leave the bar. The crowd is very informal and not snobby like other places in the city. I can't wait to be back and live other unforgettable moments.
Exceedingly friendly staff and decently priced drinks make this themed LGBT bar a stop on a weekend tour. It's a must for a visitor. Also a good pick for a local who can step away from the dancing bartenders to enjoy a crowd of people who are more happy enjoying the natural surroundings than they are looking for "what's next."
Omg I went to a bar in a Tuesday people with 7 customers it got busy after 2 with people from all types and I want to remark that they performed the dancing for 7 the same way than for a full bar. Amazing, cute, well done and tequila for 10 until 2 am!!!! Haidan was the cutest cowboy 😍
I remember seeing them at a street fair a couple of years ago, dancing to some country music with cowboy boots, and said to myself that I need to check this place sometimes. Well, that time arrived and I wasn't disappointed! The place is really nice. They only have country music on their playlist, so don't come if that's not your cup of tea. The bartenders go up on the bar and dance to certain song! This is probably the highlight of this place.
Flaming Saddles is hands down the best gay bar in NYC, period. Always a fun time, and the bartenders are super friendly and fantastic dancers. It can get a little packed on Fridays and Saturdays but that's common in Hell's Kitchen (or really anywhere). Love coming in whenever I can!
This is by far my favorite gay bar in NYC!! I bring all my friends here and they always have a great time!! The owner is so awesome and the guys behind the bar are super friendly!! Definitely stop by if you’re in the area and if you’re not, make your way over. You won’t be disappointed!!!
I'm not usually a fan of country bars but this one is fun to stop in and see the friendly bar staff. Cash only can be a surprise for some people. Some of the staff dances on the bar a few times each hour which makes for some good conversations. It can be a little gimmicky but is a fun stop to make.
This is such a fun bar. The bartenders will get on top of the bar and dance every so often. There’s a photo booth, and a place where you can request songs. Although, if you want to go to the bathroom, you have to go down a flight of stairs.
Excellent bar good for both socializing and casual dancing. The bartenders dance in synchronized dance to some songs! It's not always country music as it's based on the juke box (which you pay for), big perk!!!
I am a straight dude, stumbled in here with a buddy. By far the happiest bar I have ever been in. Super high energy, happy people
Very fun and lively bar with some good beers on draft and bartenders that perform well on the bar! Yee-ha!
Great fun for an evening out in the Hells kitchen area. This is a cash only place and has an ATM on site. It's smaller than I imagined but the atmosphere was buzzing. The service was quick and not overly expensive. It is what it is, a bar with dancing gay men. Everyone seemed very friendly and the music was loud, not much seating but it's an entertainment bar. Not sure if they do food but we ate in a Sicilian restaurant just a short walk away after spending about an hour in there.
I've always had a wonderful time at this bar. After 7:00 p.m. these wonderful men get up and dance properly. And it's fun. In the old days they had one drink normal price and the second drink was free. I have never had a boring time here
I was visiting from Oregon first time on the east coast even this October, I stopped in at the recommendation from a gal behind the pine at the country themed bar around the corner when I mentioned loving coyote ugly. There was a super drunk guy coming on to me and staff promptly dealt a with the situation in a professional matter. I hung out for a while, and when I told them I was leaving they did an impromptu step-dancing performance to "white trash wedding" by the chicks. Said they couldn't let me go back to oregon without getting the full flaming saddles experience, even though they don't usually start dancing that early without a crowd. Incredible service and you all absolutely made my NYC experience. You made this queer country girl feel so at home in a place totally new. I thank you and hope to visit again.
I always make a point to visit every time I am in the city and it never disappoints. Friendly and talented staff makes a diverse and inclusive environment. Music is great, a good mix of 90’s, pop and country. Whether you’re gay, straight or something in between you are guaranteed to have a great time!
I’ve been here last year in a short time between two flights and had a great memory about that visit. I wanted to experience the show again while visiting NYC and still had a good time there. So if you wanna go there, sit at the bar and just wait for the show to begin. There’s a very nice atmosphere where you feel welcomed with no doubt. Thank you
Great bar. My partner and I are from out of town and we felt more comfortable than we expected. People our age (20-30 somethings), great music (not too loud but perfect for getting into the groove), and really attentive waiters. The bartop dancing is also definitely a highlight. I felt safe and had a great time. Plus, the drinks were delicious!
Pace Picante Sauce commercial from the 90s mixed with Coyote Ugly barbacks with moustaches and fully clad denim. No wet t-shirt, no underwear or visible line dancing. That's my take on the experience. 👍🏼 if you agree.
Extremely friendly spot. Feeling very safe when I’m there to just relax and chat with others if I’m feeling it. Very easy going place, exceptional BOGO happy hour 3-8pm M-F, the staff are the kindest bartenders you’ll ever meet in NYC. Not really a place to turn up and dance, it’s on the chill side. Doesn’t always do country music. Have been maybe 6 times in 2 months bc it’s easy to come back to.
I come here frequently. I love this bar so much and I'm always excited to come here. Even when its crowded you never have to wait too long for a drink and can always weasel your way to a stool. Everyone who works here is really nice and the dancing is always on point. One time I tried to tip a dancer a bigger bill after a set and he refused without giving me a drink. I've come here the past two prides and had a fabulous time. I LOVE THE DANCING. My only gripe is the epic amounts of straight women and increasing number of straight couples who frequent this place. Recently a straight woman asked me repeatedly if I was a lesbian, when I was clearly with my partner, unable to comprehend that I was. If you're straight - come, have fun, but don't be rude and don't take up too much space.
This is my favorite gay bar in NYC. The crowd and atmosphere is super friendly. I always meet new people here. They have a jukebox so you can play your favorite country songs. I always play Shania Twain and Jo Dee Massina. I grew up in Texas and feel back at home here.
A cowboy themed gay bar. Your drinks are served by hot men, the saloon style interior is charming and again, gay. Drinks are served in a glass beer glass and are mixed to perfection. We came in because it advertised a watch show for RuPaul. The entire bar was attentive and excited to watch. We all cheered, booed and laughed together like a big family... Of strangers.
Great little country gay bar. Servers are amazing and really attentive. Dancing on the bar happens maybe every 30 minutes or so. Reasonable prices for beer in what can be an expensive area. Well worth a visit if you’re in this part of town!
We stopped in for happy hour and had a couple of drinks. The bartenders were great and super friendly. The country music was compelling... and the two bartenders got up on the bar and danced! What fun! We had a great time. We didn't ask about any food... and we weren't sure they served any food.
Had a wonderful experience last Friday during happy hour. I believe the bartender's name was AJ who was very friendly and gracious. The appearance of the dancer was completely unexpected and very enjoyable. The crowd was small but very friendly. First time I was here and I will certainly be back next time I'm in New York
The friendliest and most welcoming bartenders you’ll ever meet! Amazing atmosphere, great music, and drinks at reasonable prices. A truly unique experience you won’t find at any other bar in New York. Definitely the best gay bar I’ve ever been to!
A Rootin’-Tootin’ Rainbow Rodeo!" Well saddle up, partner, ‘cause Flaming Saddles ain't just a bar — it’s a glitter-dusted, boot-stompin’ hootenanny of fierce fabulousness! From the moment I pushed through them saloon doors (okay fine, regular doors — but let me dream), I knew I’d struck gold. 🌈✨ The bartenders? Hotter than a jalapeño in July and twice as spicy — serving up drinks and dance moves like they’re in a showdown with gravity. These cowboys don’t just pour tequila, sugar — they ride the bar like it's a buckin’ bronco, twirlin’, twerkin’, and servin’ sass with every step. The vibe? Picture this: Wild West meets RuPaul's Drag Race, with a dash of glitter and a whole lotta attitude. The music’s bumpin’, the crowd’s pumpin’, and honey, if you ain’t two-steppin’ in your boots by the end of the night, you did it wrong. Flaming Saddles is more than just a bar — it’s a queer western wonderland where everyone’s welcome, and the only thing more fierce than the dancing is the sense of community. Y’all best hitch up your britches and get yourself there — it's the gay ol’ time the wild west always needed. Yeehaw, darling! 🤠💃🌈 — A loyal cowpoke who came for the whiskey and stayed for the werk!
On a Saturday afternoon, celebrating a friends birthday, we stopped in Flamming Saddles as last minute decision as we were passing on way home. So so glad we did!! We had such a fantastic time, staff was so welcoming and kind and great entertainers, form the person at the door to the bartenders, such a great atmosphere. We wouldn’t have left if not for a ride waiting. We will Definitely be back, thank you so much for a wonderful time, hope to be back soon
OMG! Don’t believe the negative reviews. We were visiting from DC. The bar is amazing. Bar tenders are friendly and they dance on the bar in cowboy boots. The music varies—country & R&B. The drinks were priced right and strong. It’s worth a visit just to see the coordinated dancing on the bar! Also one of the bar tenders looks like Ted Lasso. ☺️😀
Flaming saddle saloon was a country bar the first bar dance club I went to that was one floor, not a bad thing just no space to dance but no need because the performers get up on the bar table and country dance away, it’s right out of the movie coyote but with guys instead of gals and I loved every moment of it, the guys were also hot! Yes yes yes 🙌 I loved 🥰 I would recommend going back maybe earlier so I could explore the room before the crowd
A gay bar that models itself on the ungodly child of Coyote Ugly and A Fist Full of Dollars. The barmen serve a mean drink and then dance on the bar every 15 minutes to country versions of modern day pop songs. Its cheesy as hell, but if you don't' take yourself too seriously and manage to let your 'cool' guard down you actually end up having a blast and then find yourself line dancing drunkenly home many hours later.
Personally I like Western theme chaps and whips and what not, so for me it was a great time. Pluss a cute guy bought me a drink and even the bartender bought us one back pretty rare if ya ask me. Love the energy of the guy working verry fun but left a 2 pm so maybe could have been more fun if we had stuck around till 4. Big plus , no need to dress up if you diddnt feel like it !
Y'all listen up, now. Bar reviews aren't typically a thing I do but Flaming Saddle just tickle my fancy. This country western bar brings a bit of the South to the Yankees. The bartenders are prettier than a glob of butter melting on a stack of pancakes especially when stomping to Shania Twain. After a couple of the strong pour concoctions you'll be happier than a tornado in a trailer park. I reckon as far as guys goes it draws all sorts of mix. On a busy night better hold your horse trying order drinks but every so surely you'll get it. Overall, it is a toe tapping, boot kicking good time.
Bartenders, as good Bartenders are, always that unnecessary attitude. But the place it's ok to hop in and out. That's all.
Owned by the same woman as Coyote Ugly, Flaming Saddles is a gay country kind of bar. It's a great local and I really enjoy the dancing. Great night for anyone who wants to see cute boys in tight jeans do a choreographed jig on the bar. Important things to note: Cash only EVERY Foursquare check in you get a free Bud Lite draft Women's bathroom is always questionable at best 2 for 1 happy hour
A quaint Hell's Kitchen gay bar. Older clientele, but it was a Tuesday - the weekend crowd is a bit livelier which makes sense. The bar staff are triggered into bar-top dance routines by certain pop/country chart hits - Man I Feel Like A Woman and Will Smith's Wild Wild West etc. They perform these routines with a dutiful rigour, sometimes looking like they're not on speaking terms with each other which was amusing. Topless would be good but we were treated instead to branded tank-tops, on sale there at weekends, of course.
Great place to spend a Saturday night. Fun staff and great entertainment. Drinks are typical bar drinks and it's cash only. Kind of annoying - actually wish they would switch over at some point. Oh well. Definitely check this place out. The bathrooms do smell a little funny too...just a heads up!
Where cowboy boots meet choreographed bar-top routines. The bartenders' performances are a spectacle, and the country tunes keep the energy high. Drinks are reasonably priced, but it's cash-only, so hit the ATM first. Pro tip: arrive early to snag a spot near the action.
This is a nice small bar, very packed on weekend nights. No cover. Open floor for people to hang out and dance. Few tall booth tables are available for drink and dine. The music is good here, but I didn’t see any DJ, mostly it’s a playlist. The bartenders are multi talented here. Alongside serving drinks, they also do amazing dance performances and also do clean up runs to collect empty bottles cups, and glasses.
A theme bar that no longer has a theme. When it first opened, it was country music and hot barmen occasionally dancing on the bar. Now, it's a generic gay bar, with pop music blaring. The bar staff still dance on the bar, but treat it more like a catwalk for a RuPaul audition then for any country dancing!
Visited 15th of May 2022 at 10pm: The place is very nice and the concept of the cowboy waiters dancing on the bar is very entertaining BUT, be careful not to be fooled by a waiter who tends to forget to apply the happy hour price. We were a group of 4 and the first of us who ordered didn't dare to dispute the price charged by this unscrupulous waiter. So we went to order again from the same waiter and as if by chance "oops" he forgot to apply the posted happy hour rate every time. So foreign tourists be careful. Don't be fooled 😉🏳️🌈 I Hope it’s not a way to be encouraged by the house.
Every time we visit, we go to this bar and usually have a good time. This last time we went we were hungry and ordered a couple hotdogs, but the bartender didn’t even know how much to charge us for them because apparently nobody orders food there according to him. The hotdog buns smelled old and weird when we got the hotdogs. This bar is also cash only which I hate! When I go on vacation I pay with my credit card and don’t carry tons of cash, but this place only takes cash so we decided not to go back even though we were in New York City for an entire week. Every other gay bar throughout the city takes cash and credit cards. Also, the drinks of this bar seemed pretty expensive even for New York standards.
Fun and unusually international crowd. What German and Australian put this in their respective LonelyPlanet guidebooks for an NYC tour? Just jokes! Fair prices for typical standard saloon fare- forget fancy. Cash only. Saturday can have a lot of Jane Doe & her drunken wedding party.
The atmosphere is nice, and the bartender-dancers are friendly and entertaining. The beers are tasty, and they have great happy hour deals. However, the place has terrible phone signal and doesn’t offer Wi-Fi, which is really inconvenient. Because of this, I’m giving only 3 stars instead of a higher rating.
I used to come here twice a week . Unfortunately they have tripled their prices and now play mostly Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Cher. I definitely do not go to a country bar to listen to that. No reason to return.
Sadly no longer what it used to be. I recall the first time I went years ago, it was a lively country themed bar. Now, it's for the tourists, loud girls and pop music. It has no atmosphere. Left after just one drink.
This place is dehumanizing. This was my experience: I attended flaming saddles with 2 friends Saturday night. Once arriving we made our way to the bar to order a drink and a glass a water. The bartend immediately stated it was cash only. While one of my friends went out to grab some cash from the nearest ATM, I stayed inside and asked if could have a glass of water while we waited to order of drinks. The bartender responded no and instead proceeded to spray me and my friend with the fountain water nozzle and said "here is your water". This isn't a joke. No one should be treated like this.
Troy from Australia is one of the most horrible & worst bar tender that I came across in NYC. Inspite of paying him a tip of 30 bucks where I didn't feel necessary to pay a tip for my last drink, due to which he frowned at me & said that it's the only way we earn here.. seems like you guys just demand for it even though it's not your right.
the staff and their friends use the accessible bathroom as their own private bathroom. i had knee surgery not to long ago and i really didnt want to walk up and down stairs so i tried to use the restroom on the main level but i needed a code. i asked the bartender and was told to go downstairs, i explained why i couldnt and he gave me the "well tough" look. meanwhile we watched as the staff and their friends went in and out of the restroom so we left. this is an ada violation
Tonight I sat at the end of the bar and ANY guy that came in was more important than me. The little boy who gave me my first drink never came back to ask me if I want another because he was too busy flirting and trying to get a hook up for the night. Whoever was at the end of the bar on Tuesday, July 10, closest to the door... he only cared about “attractive guys” and I tipped him $10 on a beer and shot and not once did he ask me if I was ok or if I wanted anything more.
Word of caution—COuNT YOUR CHANGE. The bartender tried short changing me by $10, maybe assuming I was drunk. When I called him out -at first he was like —what?—then he gave me the $10.. Won’t go there again.
If I could write less the one review I would. I was in the restroom having a very personal moment because I had found out very bad news. If I could had made it outside without crying I would have. But the security guard yaji came down there and knocked on the door I asked who it was and they peaked over the door and told me I wasn’t allowed to sit on the toilet and continued to try and pry the door open thinking I was doing doing paraphernalia which I was not he could clearly see that after peaking over the stall which was very much a violation of my privacy. I left obviously after feeling violated and asked him his name. He told me and I went up to the bar tenders and complained they said they sent him down there and apologized for him doing that but wouldn’t really give an explanation as into why he did that other than checking for paraphernalia but never have I ever had someone peak over a closed locked door in the bathroom. I was very violated and anyone wanting to have a lowkey night without drugs mind you I would not come here and I hope someone complains to the police about them or the manager or someone This happened around 330am on December 6th , 2023 am btw
First visit ruined by a rude, tired, bitter benny. A friend and I walked into Subtle Saddles—I mean, Flaming Saddles—on a weeknight. We decided to hold off on drinks and buy 4-5 songs in the jukebox. We made friends with a small party celebrating a birthday and started dancing on the dance floor. Right in the middle of the second song—a Whitney song at that—a manager? Or bartender? Turns down the speakers playing our music and begins to criticize us from behind the bar for not spending money on drinks—and!!! Recommends that we leave. ON. A. MICROPHONE. This was my first and last time at Doused Saddles. I won't be back. Instead of appreciating the joy and fun we were cultivating with the other party, we were shamed… for something we had, in fact, already done. IMO—you can plant yourself at any other bar, gay or otherwise, and have more fun without thinking about how the air around you is too moist, even though the bar’s empty. How it smells. And how they’d benefit from an air purifier and letting go of the behind the toilet bowl motif. bitterness from slow business should not be placed on the shoulders of patrons.
Omg how can be people be so rude, a small white waiter screaming on us because they accept only cash?? Do we are in a money landering place? Have you respect for people? Because i do
Never felt this unsafe in a bar’s bathroom! We came here for a celebration, but while in the bathroom, a security guard suddenly barged in and kicked us out for no reason, suspecting us of something unfounded. No one was puking, misbehaving or causing any trouble in the restroom. It felt like a complete power trip. When we tried to explain our side of the story to the bartender, they didn't listen and told us to leave. The negative reviews of this place are spot on. Listen to them! I've never felt so unsafe at a bar. Crazy how this security guard is still working here after all these negative reviews about him.
Not very lesbian friendly unfortunately. Balding bartender was very rude to my friend saying she "should know how to act at a gay bar" when tipping (we are all gay). She tipped 20%, went back, and gave more. Won’t be coming again
I really wanted to like this place but when I was charged for 4 drinks ! I didn’t order it left a sour taste in my mouth . I had 3 people in front of me at the bar and they said let me get the bartender and asked me what I wanted . He told them . Then I repeated myself when I got up there and he charged me for 4 drinks ! I even tried to be nice and let him know I was buying only for myself and a friend and he saw it all go down . I gave him the money anyway but my GOD what a rude encounter . I get it was NYE but be kind I did not order 4 drinks for myself … I paid n left . Not cool
Incredibley rude staff member (number 4 shirt) spoke to me in a way I have never been spoken to before. I was just ordering a drink. It was a deeply distressing experience. Myself and my friends left straight away, it was shocking. We came over from Dublin Ireland for my friends birthday and the experience completely ruined our evening.
I’ve been to this place countless times, and this was the first time I was racially profiled and told I couldn’t order a drink unless I withdrew cash from the ATM. No other patron was asked to do this. We already had cash, but being asked to prove we could afford our drinks was incredibly disrespectful. I won’t be returning. It’s such a shame, because it used to feel like a fun and safe environment for all individuals regardless of age, ethnicity, or culture. Do better! Me and some friends went to this bar. Well we decided to use the Photo Booth which ended up taking our $10. When we asked for a refund the bartender (twink). Said no but offered to give us two free shots. We jokingly asked if we could have five because we're hot. He replied "where?" But it actually seemed serious and not like a joke
I used to visit this place every time I came to New York and even brought friends with me this time to show them a spot I once enjoyed. Unfortunately, we had a shocking and disappointing experience. One of my friends paid with a $20 bill for a $10 glass of wine. Before collecting the change, we decided to order a second glass. When we were leaving, the waiter claimed we hadn’t paid at all. We explained we had given him the $20 bill, but he handed us the wrong (lower) change and kept insisting we hadn’t paid anything. Then the manager came over and, instead of trying to resolve the situation, he was extremely rude and aggressive. He told us to just drink and leave — no conversation, no respect. It was an unacceptable way to treat customers, especially in front of others. Sadly, I won’t be coming back and definitely can’t recommend this place anymore.
Disrespectful and disappointing – not worth your time! We had a terrible experience at Flaming Saddles, even though we were excited to visit this bar. A waiter openly doubted our word during a simple misunderstanding, and instead of resolving it with professionalism, the entire staff took his side without even listening to us properly. It wasn’t about prejudice — it was about a complete lack of respect and customer care. There are plenty of other amazing LGBT-friendly bars in NYC that know how to treat people right. This one won’t see us again.
Absolutely unacceptable experience! I was shocked by what happened at Flaming Saddles. One of the bartenders blatantly lied and claimed we hadn’t paid for our drinks — after we clearly did. When we tried to address the situation respectfully, the manager (or owner, not sure) was incredibly rude and chose to believe the bartender without even listening to our side. We were asked to leave the bar for absolutely no reason, despite having paid. I’ve never been treated with such disrespect. As someone who supports small businesses daily, I would never risk my reputation over $10. That accusation was not only insulting, but completely false. This place does not value honesty or accountability, and based on our experience, I can’t recommend it to anyone.
My friends and I have visited this place a few times and genuinely enjoy the atmosphere. However, there's a recurring issue with one bartender who intentionally ignores us, even when we're standing directly in front of him. This has happened on three separate occasions, and the only explanation seems to be racism. We even had another group of POCs quietly share that they’ve experienced the same treatment from him. If management chooses not to address this, it will speak volumes about their values and priorities.
