Wow this place really should not call themselves a Mexican restaurant... The food was not even remoutly close to being called Mexican food.. The closest thing to Mexican food from the whole meal was the tortillas..... Really not impressed at all. I travel for buissnes all over the country and had some pretty amazing Mexican food and I have also had some amazing Tex Mex food this wasn't either You would think being in the such a diverse city the could get authentic genuine ingredients to prepare Mexican food. They fails to do that. Don't waste your time or money here..

Some of the best traditional Mexican food on the UWS. They have been pumping out consistently excellent food for MANY years and are a go to for old time residents of the neighborhood. Their tacos are quite clean if anyone's looking for healthy eating.

Great food!!! Some of the best Mexican tortas I have had since my last time in Mexico City.(If you have never had one, do so soon. A Mexican torta is a sandwich on a telera roll with choice of meat or vegetables, black beans, avocado, Oaxacan cheese and chiles.) Very nice staff. I found the atmosphere/decor fine- nothing fancy, but clean, pleasant and authentic as the food. I find it a big plus when restaurants don't follow the glitzy gentrified trend of the UWS - a la the remaking of Gabriela's into a overpriced tequila bar some years back.

If I'm ordering Mexican food in, this is my place! My favorite dish as of late is chicken enchiladas de mole (red). The green ones were my obsession for a long time and prior to that the tacos de carnitas. Sabroso (delish).

Have been ordering from here for 10 years and it’s a solid. The delivery time is sometimes long but worth it. The nachos are the best I’ve ever had and the mole burrito would be my last supper. We just moved to westchester and I’ve been in desperate search of something similar with zero luck. This place is an absolute gem.

Noche Mexicana's is always so amazing.

With windows open and a cool breeze blowing i was very comfortable in the lightly decorated room able to seat 48 guests. The menu is full of delicious authentic Mexican dishes and the staff is friendly. The hot sauce brought with the tortilla chips is most notably authentic. I truly enjoyed dining here. I will dine here again.

Food was very fresh and the owners were so sweet. I ordered no spice or too hot and the cook/owner asked if he could substitute tomatoes for salsa. Shredded chix burrito was huge and amazing. Order thru chow now bc all $ goes to restaurant. Will go there again😋

The nachos are hands down the best ones I’ve ever had. I moved to California years ago and still haven’t found better nachos than these. Their taco de lengua are good too.

Noche mexicana is everything you need after that kind of day. Not only are they friendly and inviting but there margaritas are the best I have ever had anywhere in the United States. If you like Margaritas, come here.

Feels just like you've walked into a restaurant in Mexico. And I don't just mean the atmosphere. The chicken and carnitas tacos I had were absolutely authentic. I'll be back to sample the rest of the menu. It was a good sign that the other tables were filled with Spanish-speaking people.

Best damn Mexican restuarant in Manhattan.

The food is wonderful. Validly authentic. Pure Mexico. And the nicest service the most accommodating people. And a Margarita from heaven. Three times the size of any in the city. And if you are wearing socks, hold on to them. And on top of it all it may well be the last reasonably priced restaurant in the city. But go for the legit Mexican food. Loved it. Loved it!

Amazing food been eating here for years but who ever is operating between 1:30 pm and 2 is horrible called to make a order for delivery and she legitimately hung up on me so I assumed lost service(we all human) but I called back they answered and hung up again. I don’t understand the bad reviews. This restaurant is phenomenal! We were walking by and just decided to go in. The restaurant is very clean and beautifully decorated. The menu is huge. I ordered the Chile relleno. I kid you not it tasted like a Mexican grandma had been making it from scratch out of the veggies and spices from her garden. The sauce was smoky and so flavorful and the pepper and cheese were cooked perfectly. We three cleaned the plate. The sour cream even tasted home made, it tasted like nothing you get in the grocery store. The guacamole was super fresh and chunky. Beware the salsa is delicious and spicy! I had one of the shrimp dishes with veggies. Cooked perfectly again, the shrimp were really big and the sauce was flavorful with a lot of different spices. It wasn’t overcooked at all. We wrapped it up with flan for dessert and it was soo good, sweet and creamy with a slightly dense consistency. The waitress was so busy trying to take care of all the tables, but she was sweet and attentive despite being really busy. She got our order completely right. I would come back here again and again.

I've been both dining in and ordering out from this place for 25 years. The food is FANTASTIC. My favorite is the Burrito Pollo con Mole. The salads are delicious! I love their Chipotle dressing. I also love the quesadillas and the typical Mexican dishes. I've never taken anyone there who didn't come back, often on their own. I even have a friend in the West village to comes up specifically. Many say it's like California Mexican. The staff is quiet but super sweet. The atmospherel is low key but I enjoy the exposed brick and Diego Rivera and Frida Kahlo prints. Very affordable!

I had the bistec Mexicana and it was so delicious that I ordered it again! There's enough food for at least 2 meals. The steak has a yummy sauce to it and grilled onions and peppers. The rice and beans were excellent. I really like the atmosphere and the kind lady that took care of me and my Colombian friend, who had soup and tacos that were delicious and said that the music playing reminded her of her mom. I love Noche Mexicana 2.

I have no idea why anyone would say this is expensive. The prices are great the portions huge. I am a tamale fanatic and there's are some of the best. Mole sauce perfect. Drinks also well made. If you live in this area and have not been here. Run the next time you want truly authentic Mexican food. It's decor is basic but clean. Service is good not great. But very nice.

I am very picky with a margarita on the rocks. This place makes them perfect. Had a Picadillo burrito and husband had the steak burrito, both were delicious. Service was great as well.

This is one of many Mexican establishments in the area. Its food is very good, and service even better. The margaritas and the guacamole, made in front of you, are definitely recommended.

The meal started well with very good tamales; the corn flavors were fantastic. The meal went downhill from there. The green mole was gritty and flavorless. The salmon dish was overcooked, and the pork was cooked to a tough piece of leather. Service was friendly.

We stopped in for lunch on a lovely afternoon with the windows wide open - we were able to get a table at the windows and it was just lovely. We didn't want to have a big feast and for under $10.00 we shared a delicious vegetarian Huarache which was fresh and very tasty with beans and some scallions and sour cream/grated cheese. The veg quesadilla was also delicious, with fresh vegetables, finished off with sour cream and their grated cheese.

I dislike that they have a delivery fee, but their food has always been excellent. Food has always arrived promptly (within 30min). I have not dined in, so I cannot comment on the atmosphere. But really, it's slightly pricier than other food options, but totally worth it.

My boyfriend and I were craving Mexican, but since we're on a mission to try out the restaurants in my new neighborhood, we passed on Chipotle. After going through a few reviews, we decided on Noche Mexicana (it's now Noche II I guess, what a necessary name change ..). I'm from California and have had all variations of Mexican food- Authentic, Mexicali, quick service, TexMex Southwestern, trucks, Rick Bayless, bad, good. Boyfriend and I really enjoyed our meal here at Noche. It's certainly not the best I've ever had but it's not even close to bad. It's similar to the sit down restaurants you'll find in the Bay Area, which are generally more expensive than the fast assembly line joints. I'll agree with a few reviewers that some depth of flavor is lacking. The salsa with the chips wasn't really that spicy or have that much heat, and the refried beans didn't have enough meaty/spicy flavor. But it was good. I ordered the chicken with green mole, and that was enough for two meals. Boyfriend ordered the huevos rancheros, and the guac and pica were just want we wanted. Our meal came out to be just over $20. We liked this place so much we came back here the following day. We ordered a shrimp burrito (not that much shrimp, but a really good burrito), and pork tamales. The pork tamales were really good. I loved the corn meal on it and teh green sauce they gave us. Okay, they do their green saquces exceptionally well. The green mole and the salsa verde were both out of this world.

Food service was good. The chorizo tostada was good too.

Nice neighborhood restaurant...Most of the dishes are quite filling (salads included) ...Although I prefer lighter cuisine, it's a plus for hearty eaters (i.e. men)...The sangria was refreshing, yet they only have red (no white or rose´ sangria)...The grilled chicken salad was delicious yet heavy for a salad (then again, it could have been all the chips and sangria that I had with the salad)...I've been here several times and have had takeout as well, so I definitely like the place compared to some other Mexican restaurants in the area...

I have been coming to/ordering from Noche since they were a split restaurant a few blocks up from the current location. Very happy to see them doing well enough to move to a larger consolidated space. Yes, the service is lacking, at times being slow and sometimes down right inattentive. And yes decor is ho hum, but who cares about the decor? The place is clean and everything on the menu is authentic and surprisingly cheap. I grew up in a community were home cooked Mexican food was easy to come by and know good when I taste it. Noche has NEVER dis pointed. As an added bonus i just moved to within walking distance! Hope my wallet (and waistline) can handle it!

The problem with Mexican food and NYC is that its too expensive to run a restaurant and deliver great cheap food. Taxes are way too high. Mexican cuisine is the art of crafting delicious meals with all around cheap ingredients say compared to the food used at a steakhouse or French restaurant. Most people in NYC go to Mexican restaurants for sitting outside under fiesta lights during happy hour and cheap margaritas. This review is based solely on a takeout experience with the beef enchiladas with red mole sauce and chicken fajitas. After a single bite of both meals there wasn't a living taste bud that craved more. Each meal was bland, unappealing and lacked any special flavor. Bland is really the best word to describe those two meals.

Food was great! Fresh tasting and all hand crafted from scratch. Service on the other hand was bad. Servers weren’t attentive. Would always have to wave down to get their attention. Things like straws, and box for the left overs, and the check took an extremely long amount of time to arrive. Over all, the food was the only redeeming quality of this establishment. Had it not been for that this place would have received 1 or 2 stars.

I read about this place in the Michelin Guide 2018 and went for dinner yesterday. I ordered 3 different tacos and 2: the el pastor and carnitas tacos were filled with dry over cooked meat which was inedible. How disappointing.

Not the best, the meat for nachos and tocos was bland and dry. The margaritas tasted like from concentrate lime juice, redeeming factor they were strong. Not strong enough to finish the second one though.

The food is always amazing but the server is rude.

When our food actually arrives to us, it is excellent. However there have been multiple occasions where I've placed an order and waited over an hour for it to come. Each time, I am told by the restaurant that my food has been delivered, even if it hasn't been. They have been very rude each time, and refused to give me a refund for the food I never received. This has happened now three or four times and I'm fed up.if you don't mind gambling with your food and money, I would recommend this place. Otherwise, there are better Mexican places in the area I would recommend you try instead.

Having just moved here from California, this was a real disappointment. Food was mediocre at best, lacking the good mexican flavor. Enchiladas were cold, Fajitas were bland and veggies overcooked. We waited a long time for the food and the Guacamole we ordered never showed up on the table - but on the bill.

This place is Anti Americans I over heard the waiter Leon down grading the American people. He used the slur Gringo. I got up brought it to his attention told him that the Gringos are keeping him in business. Paid my bill left and will never eat there again. I'll take my Gringo money else where. Frequent this place for lunch food is good, service questionable Update to 11/16/2020 Tried this place again Margaritas are terrible I ordered a frozen mango margarita it tasted like water, The waitress, looks at you like your crazy when you complain, i told her i would pay for the nasty margarita but would like one on the rocks that tastes better. I was then given an overly sour margarita inwhich I mixed the two nasty margaritas together which made it decent enough to drink. The waitress today working at 4:03 pm needs needs customer service training. She makes you feel uncomfortable for wanting proper service food and drinks. Im done with this place
