Opinions de Onion Tree Pizza Co New York
We dined at the Onion Tree Pizza Co on a Saturday early in the evening. We walked in without reservations and were seated immediately. The staff members we interacted with were all very friendly and helpful. Our server provided great suggestions from the menu on what and how much to order. The meat is halal so we made sure to try several different options. The main draw here is the pizzas and you can choose from either Napoletana or Romana style. We went with the Chicken Tikka Masala pizza in the Napoletana style and it was phenomenal. It was a true blend of Indian and Italian flavours. The Bombay Gumbo hit the spot, especially with the cold weather. I think my favourite dish was the Kerala Chicken Fry. The spices they used were perfect. We also tried a couple of items from the dessert menu. Both the Saffron Panna Cotta and the Chai-fogatto were a great end to one of my favourite meals I’ve had in quite some time. I can’t recommend the place enough and look forward to visiting again.
Absolutely divine Indian-Italian fusion! I would come for the pizzas alone! Definitely come with a group to try more entrees. My group tried the masala marg pizza, fungi, hara bhara kebab, dosa waffles and dosa onion rings. Highly recommend everything we ordered, they were all server recommended for vegetarians. Masala marg had a great kick and was the perfect hybrid of Indian and Italian. I loved the dosa waffles all dressed up—it had a perfect crispness and was delicious! The mushroom pizza was very Italian and the hara bhara kebab was a yummy veg fritter, that and the dosa onion rings were more on the greasy end, but really nice comfort food. Will definitely be back for the saag pizza and burrata next time! Service and ambiance are fantastic, they’ve got a great seating area in the front and back and the noise level isn’t too overwhelming for a night with friends. Highly recommend!
Visited here recently for a date night with my husband and the food was perfect combo of Italian and Indian flavours. We ordered mango lassi, harabhara kebab, burrata chaat, paneer makhani pizza and masala margherita. Everything turned out so delicious! My personal favs were kebabs and paneer makhani pizza. We were served by Shivam and he was so welcoming. A must visit spot if you love Indian Fusion
Went over to watch the India–Pakistan Asia Cup final and had such a wonderful time here! The owners and staff were incredibly sweet and welcoming — they made me feel right at home even though I was the only Pakistani cheering for my team (which sadly lost!). The hospitality, food, and atmosphere were all fantastic. Can’t wait to come back again.
We had an amazing foodie adventure at Onion Tree Pizza! The flavors were so on point and the wings were some of the best we ever had! The fusion of Indian flavors with the soft chewy pizza dough was absolutely delicious! And try the onion rings! It had a wonderful light crispy outer layer and the dash of chaat masala was so good! Will definitely come back again!
I wasn’t sure what to expect from this Indian pizza restaurant, but was so pleasantly surprised! Our server, Miriam, was so nice and helpful and walked us through what she thought would be best and she was absolutely right! We got the chicken tikka masala, Neapolitan pizza, and the Roman style paneer pizza and it was incredible! My only regret is that we didn’t come with more people to try more things, but we’ll go next time with the whole group!
Absolutely fantastic spot! | LOVE the India /Italian fusion. The staff is very nice, I had eaten a really spicy chili and was struggling and they kindly brought me a lassi on the house to help me out. It's the little things that make you feel special! Dosa onion rings - super crispy! I tasted both components Dosa waffle - dosa in crispy waffle form Burrata chaat- super soft burrata, l've never had this combo and wasn't sure it'd work but it did! Paneer makhani pizza - get it in the thicker crust, fantastic 10/10 Masala margarita - spicy and good, I liked it in the Neapolitan style Saag paneer - thicker crust, it was a little dry though They also have really unique cocktails I'm so excited to go back and eat more!
The Onion Tree Co. is a true culinary gem—perfect for anyone who loves modern Indian cuisine with a global twist. Every dish is beautifully presented and full of bold, balanced flavors. The menu creatively blends Indian roots with international flair. The ambiance is warm, intimate, and perfect for a date night or catching up with friends. Service is attentive, and the cocktails are just as thoughtfully crafted as the food.
Loved our visit to The Onion Tree Pizza Co.! 🍕💥 The fusion of Indian and Italian flavors was spot on. We started with refreshing mocktails — Tamarind Ginger Ale and Paan Lemonade — super unique and tasty! 🥂 The Parsi Fried Chicken, Puchka Pani Puri, and Maa’s Chicken Curry were flavorful and comforting. The real stars were the pizzas — especially the Chicken Tikka Pizza and Square Masala Margarita, both soft, cheesy, and full of spice! 🔥 Ended on a sweet note with the Calcutta Meetha Paan. A must-try for fusion food lovers! 🌿🍬
This is one of the top restaurants on my list in NYC. We ordered so many different varieties of foods and nothing disappointed. Everything was delicious. The design of this place is right on for the East Village with their amazing murals of iconic musicians of the past. Their drinks were amazing. The tamarind ginger margarita was tasty. Jay's pan mule was out of this world. It took me into a spa with incense memory. We got the onion ring tower. Every topping was phenomenal. The red onion used was too die for. Best onion rings ever and the condiments were fantastic. The BURRATA CHAAT blew my mind. Housemade burrata. The blend of flavors. Best bite of my year. The Dosa Waffle aka chicken & waffles was devine. Again, the best I've ever had. The Masala Margarita and Saag Panner pizza was fantastic. Italian American approved. The Roman style and Napoli pizza dough was flavorful and honestly was a 10 out of 10. The braised lamb shank with roti was like an Indian birria version. Excellent. We ordered the sweet paan. 😋 I love spicy food but if you have a level you prefer or don't want spicy definitely mention it. The service was a 10 out of 10. Shout out to Shivam. Best service ever. We will be back to try everything else on the menu because everything looked delicious. They should have a Michelin star. No wonder they won a pizza award in NJ. Update: went to their Omkase the other night. Worth it. Seafood and duck and vegetarian options. Delicious. I liced the lobster, scallops, portobello mushrooms, paneers, roman breads, the duck and jackfruit pizza was to die for and the dessert rose jam sandwich yogurt dip was one of the best desserts ever. Great wine selection too.
Loved this fusion Indian food with so many gluten free options. The menu is clearly labeled and that makes it so easy. Highly recommend this place. Met one of the owners and he was so nice. The food was absolutely amazing!! You should try this place and If you are gluten free you must absolutely try this place. They had gluten free onions rings.. It’s been years since I had those. And they were so good.
We had a lovely experience at the restaurant today! The staff was incredibly friendly and impressively knowledgeable about the menu, which made the entire visit even more enjoyable. Everything we tried was full of flavor and absolutely memorable. For drinks, we had the Fauji Manhattan, Darjeeling Express, and Smoked Chili Margarita—each one unique and perfectly balanced. The food was just as impressive. The Burrata Chaat was a standout fusion dish, the Chicken Tikka Pizza was rich and satisfying, and the Bharta Pizza brought a delicious twist we didn’t know we needed. Highly recommend this place for anyone looking to explore bold, creative flavors with top-notch service!
Incredible flavors! So creative yet accessible! Apaar is so friendly and welcoming! I love the space he’s created and he’s made it so that celiac and gluten free folks can enjoy life’s simple pleasures: onion rings & chicken tenders The Hara Bhara kebab was to die for and I can’t stop thinking about the sauces I left in food coma and still wanted to order more Crispy Carma is popping up at the bar: Long live fried chicken! The crunch the sauce the marinade wow!
This place took me by surprise - in a good way! The Paneer Makhni pizza is a must try - dough is just the way they describe (72hrs fermented), delicious and it’s similar to what you would expect in a Neapolitan pizza. The flavors were bang on and my taste buds welcomed a delicious burst of Indian flavors. What makes Onion Tree unique is the fusion (Indian x Pizza) they have chosen is very difficult to perfect (at least in my experience) and they have delivered it incredibly well. Will visit again soon!
I’m sitting inside as I write this and my mouth is pleasantly on fire, as is my heart and soul. The atmosphere is ripe with color and history. From the wall art to the paint colors to the books on the shelf you’re invited in and you can’t help feel at home. We ordered the Tikka Masala pizza, the onion rings and wings. Once it arrived a comfortable silence settled over us as we dug in and our bellies and taste buds were ravished with pleasure. The crunchy onion rings were 10/10! The wings kept it hot and you just couldn’t stop. The pizza is out of this world. Crunchy crust, amazing toppings. Who knew Indian pizza would take the stage in this otherworldly performance.
We had a wonderful dining experience at Onion Tree Restaurant! The food was flavorful and fresh! The chicken tikka pizza was such a unique fusion dish — perfectly crispy crust topped with well-seasoned tikka and just the right amount of spice. The lamb shoulder curry was rich, tender, and full of deep, authentic flavors. The tandoori chicken was juicy with a smoky char, and the kebabs were cooked perfectly and packed with flavor. Everything tasted authentic and comforting. The ambiance was decent and inviting, and the service was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend if you’re craving delicious Indian cuisine with a modern twist. We’ll definitely be back!
We had to make a reservation (they charge a $25 per person cancellation fee if you don’t show up), but funny enough, tons of people were just walking in. Felt a bit like fake urgency. The food was okay, definitely a one-time try for the fusion experience. We had the burrata chaat (nothing special), masala margherita pizza, and paneer makhani pizza which was so salty. Interesting concept, but the flavors didn’t really wow me. The cocktails were super watered down 90% ice, 10% drink. It’s also really pricey for what you get. Not saying it’s bad, just not worth the hype in my opinion. If you're curious about Indian-Italian fusion, maybe worth checking out once but I wouldn't go back.
We visited The Onion Tree Pizza Co. as a party of five and had a flavorful and unique dining experience! For appetizers, we tried the Burrata Chaat, which combined classic Indian chaat flavors with creamy burrata, an interesting fusion that worked well. The Hara Bhara Kabab was loaded with green veggies and had a slightly different twist from the usual — still enjoyable. We ordered two pizzas with two different dough types — the Paneer Makhani on Roman-style dough and the Masala Margherita on Napoli dough. The Masala Margherita stood out with its tadka topping — it added a bold, desi punch to a familiar favorite. The Paneer Makhani Pizza tasted more like eating naan with makhani gravy, though it leaned more toward a curry experience than a pizza. For drinks, the Paan Lemonade was a highlight, super refreshing with that signature paan flavor. The Jaljira Spritz was just okay in comparison. Service was friendly and efficient, and the overall vibe was casual and welcoming. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the mood for something creative and Indian-fusion twist. A great spot if you're looking to try something different from the usual pizza night!
Pretty mid. Masala Margherita is worth a try. Skip the burrata chaat. I asked for chaat masala on the side and not only did they take 15 mins to bring it, they charged me for it. None of the desserts listed on the menu were available -- instead they had a chocolate mousse cake slice (not worth $10 tbh. It came from a box that seemed like you get at a grocery store) Ordered the Madras filter coffee -- please beware -- it's not actually filter coffee, they mix some coffee powder with milk. I asked to send it back and they did not charge me for it. Overall, go only to try the pizza if at all.
We tried different kinds of pizzas at The Onion Tree Pizza. The Spicy Masala Pizza looked tempting with all the masala on top, but it was served cold. The Paneer Makhani Pizza was quite watery and messy, and the Margherita DOP Pizza didn’t seem worth the price. The Dosa Batter Onion Rings were tasty but too oily. We also ordered the Ringan Ola Pizza, but after waiting for about 35 minutes, we were informed that it wasn’t available which was quite disappointing. They also don’t offer any kind of customization for kids, which makes it less convenient for families. The restroom is very small, and it’s not easy to get in and out, especially if you have kids with you. Overall, the food presentation was nice, but the service and quality definitely need improvement.
I called to request if I could move by 30 minutes. Instead of getting a no we can’t do that (which is completely understandable) they said “ we shouldn’t have even let you reserve in the first place.” Just a terrible impression before we even arrive. Once we arrive, we order a few drinks. They’re out. Then we adjust and order something else (which we believe they may have switched up the cocktail and mocktail versions of the drink). Then we order appetizers and then they said they’re out again. We were probably one of the first few dinner slots available (aka there’s no way they ran out) Somehow magically (probably after hearing some complaints) a set of dosa batter onion rings appear which were specially made for us. Despite the teams poor performance to accommodate us, I will say that the food was pretty good. The paneer pizza was probably the best pizza we had.
