Opinions de Rosa Mexicano New York
Brunch was great. We got the breakfast quesadilla, tres leches French toast, bacon and the delicious side potatoes. Would definitely come back again!
Been going to Rosa’s for over 25 years - and it never disappoints! Great food, engaging servers and excellent drinks. Just what every city needs - a go to Mexican spot!
Hey folks, we went to Rosa for dinner, and my mom and dad, who frequently visit Mexico this the most authentic Mexican they had. Mary had the chicken enchiladas, I had the brisket enchiladas. Mom the tacos and Dad the fajitas. We stopped in here unplanned and were delighted! it was mouth-watering! Perfect seasoning and char - not too salty. Fresh salsa and the guacamole was out of this world. The margaritas rocked! Nice, trendy atmosphere. Kelly, our server, was the best and very attentive. would definitely visit here again if i could give a 6 stars Iwould. I highly recommend it. Wow!
I was staying nearby in Midtown, and while on a walk near my hotel, found this restaurant. The festive decor, full house, and peeks at the other diner’s choices made me decide to try it out. I didn’t have a reservation (although that seems a good option, seeing how busy it was) and luckily I was accommodated easily. While enjoying the festive, colorful restaurant decor, I chose a house margarita variation. We ordered guacamole for the table, added on our entree choices, and while enjoying drinks, waited for our selections to arrive. Because everything looked good, I and my dinner partner found we’d ordered a pretty sizable amount of food! Our dinner was tasty and attractive to the eye, and we found ourselves sampling from each other’s plates. The waitstaff couldn’t have been any more attentive and seeing to our needs, surprising on such a busy evening. I chose the seafood enchiladas, but my companion, who wanted something vegetarian. The ‘pulled jackfruit’ arrived in a huge, spicy bowl, and we both shared it. It was a generous portion, and the mildly spicy sauce had the right amount of flavor to keep us coming back for more.
Everything was so good! Rosa Mexicano completely exceeded my expectations. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm, colorful, and full of life — the lights, decor, and music made it feel festive but still relaxing. We started with the freshly made guacamole, prepared right at the table — it was absolutely delicious! Creamy, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with the chips and salsa. Every dish that followed was amazing — the molcajete with shrimp and steak came sizzling hot and full of flavor, and the lobster and steak combo was cooked to perfection. The quesadillas were cheesy and satisfying, and every bite felt like comfort food done right. The cucumber margarita was another highlight — refreshing with just the right kick from the chili rim. It paired perfectly with the meal. The staff were friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed the whole time. Service was quick, and everyone had such positive energy. Overall, it was an incredible dining experience — delicious food, amazing drinks, and a fun, vibrant atmosphere. Everything was so good! I’ll definitely come back next time I’m in town. 🌮💃✨
Rosa Mexicano is an elevated take on the casual Mexican cocina. I went for Restaurant Week and already saw the great value of their $30 prix fixe menu. Our waitress Joan was so friendly and her recommendations for the steak tartare starter was on point. Each dish tasted fresh, light, flavorful, and was presented in such a colorful way. Amazing flavors in the steak tartare itself, down to the well seasoned fish tacos. A great place for lunch and happy hour!
I loved this restaurant, I think I tasted spicy on 20 different levels 🥵😂 but everything was very good! Margarita Monday’s is absolutely a no brainer for $5 you get to experience each Margarita on the happy hour menu and they’re all super delicious 👌🏽 La Parillada was an experience🤩 I loved that it comes with all the unique toppings & sides with an assortment of meats like sausage, chicken & steak. They offer it for 2 or 4 people, which I think it’s a pretty good deal. They also have a variety of tacos like lobster, duck, al pastor and many other, check them out ! Don’t miss it on Margarita Monday’s Happy hour Margaritas are all $5!
The food in the ambiance was good as the service was very attainable and fast and the food was cooked great. They had a had a 6 oz center cut filet mignon which came with a mashed potato cheese chicharon's side and my friend some sort of a steak and shrimp dish in a mocaljente which seemed my friend enjoyed as well.
We came here for brunch and had such a positive experience. We had come with friends that had a baby stroller and they were so accommodating and willing to move us to a bigger booth so we could fit the stroller more comfortably. Service: service was fast and efficient. We didn’t feel rushed to order and they checked in on us the right amount of time. Food came out reasonably fast. Ambiance: the vibe here is great. It’s well decorated and comfortable. You could easily bring a date here or a group of friends. The booths are also very comfortable. Food: They start you off with complimentary chips and salsa. The salsa is really good, it’s well seasoned and not spicy. I highly recommend the guacamole. It comes freshly made and they let you pick the spice level. Their medium spice is actually medium spicy so I appreciate that consistency. We got the black bean and cheese empanadas and they were really good. I do think it needed a little more salt. We also got the mushroom enchiladas with red sauce. I love how they roasted the mushrooms. The red sauce is also really good. Drink: we got the cucumber refresco. It was really refreshing and not sweet. The mocktails were also reasonably priced, less than $10. Price: the price of dishes is very reasonable especially for the amount of food you’re getting. Definitely another restaurant on my fav list! My friends and I came to the 51st location on Sunday afternoon and really enjoyed our experience. The portions were generous and the food tasted great. I had the enchiladas. The bartender waited on us and he was wonderful. The drinks were exactly how they should be. (flavorful and not weak.)The atmosphere is cute, quirky and cozy. They have both inside and outside dining. Definitely will be back!
We had reservations and got there 15 mins early and they escorted us to the table, it was Monday night and they had 5$ margaritas which were great! We got birria empanadas… which didn’t really taste like birria it has a taste more like mole, the guac and chips was fantastic and we got complimentary chips with salsa as soon as we were seated, my wife got birria tacos which were too salty and requested a salad instead which was delicious my steak with added shrimp was salty;however, I did enjoy it as I usually like my steak salty, it was perfectly cooked. Our waiter wasn’t really on top of our table but it was busy overall it a solid 4/5 experience!
Finally got around to trying the new location . Was lucky enough to land a seat at the bar I’m sure because it was still early . I would have thought because the bar was not packed the service would have been better but no . Sadly the guys working that area were not very attentive . One was nice enough but the other guy was awful . Definitely missed out on another round of drinks for our entire side of the bar . The bright spot is and always will be the guacamole . It never disappoints . The steak quesadillas were good too . Please consider offering single tacos or enchilada as add on ala carte . Easy way for you to bring that bill up - just sayin I also like that this location has a little brighter interior all the way around than old one on 58th . Will give it another try everyone has an off day now & then . Hasta Luego Rosa 🤠
The last couple of times I’ve been there everything was perfect. This recent visit, the food wasn’t as good as I remembered and the margaritas are usually my favorite, I ALWAYS tell people about the margaritas, but for whatever reason, the margaritas weren’t that good either. The bartender was amazing! Very nice and attentive, just wasn’t the best spot for my birthday that night.
Had a fairly good experience here. Sat at the bar. The bartender isn’t very friendly nor welcoming but he gets the job done. Greeted me when I sat down and took my order, but the greeting was so off I didn’t even know that he was talking to me. Though, I appreciate him showing me the happy hr and Monday drink special menu. Several 5 dollar drinks to choose from, my favorite is the fire and ice (yes it includes a lot of ice). The frozen drink honestly doesn’t taste like much, it isn’t bad but isn’t that good either, I do remember the last of it had a nice cucumber flavor. For food I had the fire shrimp which I recommend. Not as spicy as I expected but it’s a nice portion and comes on a bed of cabbage which I enjoyed since I find myself struggling to get enough veggies in my diet. The shrimp had a wonderful crispy crust, even though they were submerged in a tasty sauce. I also had the ceviche taquito trio which was okay, the crunchy shell itself was nice but the ceviche I found kinda bland. Overall, for the area, this happy hr value is superb! Can barely find 5 dollar beers in today’s economy, let alone cocktails. Value for the food is also great, but the happy hr portions in my opinion are single serve. Definitely not fully authentic but flavorful and a good value, I recommend. Paid a total of 42USD which included 2 appetizers, taxes and 2 drinks.
This is the first time in probably 10 years. I've been back to Rosa Mexicano. As usual, the guacamole, though not prepared at your table like it used to be, was fresh and delicious, and the pomegranate margarita was also great. However, the main dish I had which was the grilled steak empanada was very small, and hardly had any steak inside. It was mostly the empanada and the sauce on top with a side of Mexican rice which was also small. If you are a grown man, this will never satisfy your appetite. I remember the portions being much larger when I last went to Rosa Mexicano. My girlfriend made reservations and told them it was my birthday so I got a free flan for dessert with a candle to blow out and a big sombrero to wear on my head. That was nice of them 😁
My colleagues and I came here for lunch on a Thursday and we were seating promptly towards the back of the restaurant. I was surprised at the size of Rosa Mexicano. The waiter was very attentive and friendly. We started off with a pitcher of margarita and some guacamole. A perfect start! Although it wasn't packed, I was shocked at how long it took for our entrees to arrive. Maybe they were short staffed. I ordered the steak tacos which weren't bad. A little dry but overall good. I'll try this spot again some other time and order off their main menu as opposed to their lunch menu.
Eh, Rosa isn’t what it used to be. Tuna ceviche - too spicy and felt more like a dip than a proper ceviche—just tuna chunks thrown on top. The skinny margarita was oddly spicy and just tasted like a mix. Chicken empanadas - huge disappointment, didn’t taste like empanadas at all and were just not good. Birria tacos and the rice—both were solid. Service was quick
