Opinions de Sauce Pizzeria New York
Staff was super friendly, my man chino was very easy to talk to and helped decide what to get at 10 pm when everyone’s supposed to be tired. Very friendly and the food was delicious, i got a couple slices of the vodka and it was super good. Overrall 5 stars. Great if u need a quick bite before your train.
This place has awesome pizza. Hands down an amazing plain slice. Wish they had more locations throughout the nyc area.
Very confused by the poor reviews but maybe I caught them during a comeback? I had sauce pizza years ago and was blown away by the flavor in the sauce. I soon as I saw they had one at moniyhan I had to try it. It is delicious! The service is consistently fast and efficient. Authentic ny style pizza with lots of flavor. It is so good, it's now my go-to good stop if in the area-no scheduled train required! I have tried the cheese, vodka and pesto artichoke, i can't decide on a favorite.
I found this spot randomly and struck gold. Additionally, staff provides attentive customer care. This place knows good food! This restaurant has great energy, good hygiene, and friendly staff. Welcoming workers, excellent dishes, and a fun area.
Excellent original, authentic NY pizza. Likely the best location in the entire Moynihan Food Hall because it is right next to this huge 500-inch TV wall, and on the other side of the TV, you have the bathrooms right there. All you need to order are these two dishes: Pesto Artichoke Pizza Vodka Squares Those are by far the best options they offer. Prices are on par with all other pizza shops in NYC and really affordable. Tell them Benjamin Templar sent you. You will not get a discount, but they will ask you: Who? Enjoy!
I originally found out about Sauce through Barstool Pizza reviews several years back when Dave Portnoy reviewed the one located on East 12th Street. I never got a chance to check out that location yet, so I was pretty excited to try the one that just opened recently at the Moynihan Food Hall. I must say this pizza is probably not for everyone. If you are looking for a larger and more doughy traditional crust, then this is not for you. This pizza (by the slice) is more thin and crisp and much smaller than the slices you get at your local Pizzeria. The two pepperoni slices I got tasted really good and had a great flavor. I enjoyed the crispness of the crust and that the pepperoni didn't make the slices greasy. The service at this location seems pretty quick and the staff is friendly. Prices can be a bit steep, but you can get the combo deal of two slices and a soda for $10. Overall I give this place a 9.1 and I will definitely be back.
Went for a couple slices for lunch. Definitely not the worst pizza I’ve ever had but far from the best. Especially considering the $5 tag per cheese slice and how many other good pizza places there are in NYC, definitely wouldn’t rush to go here again. Even if waiting for a train in Moynihan Hall, would recommend walking 5 minutes to one of the many other pizza places in the area where, at the very least, you will get the same quality for a better price. More about the price being high than the food itself.
This pizza was quite a bit better than I expected it to be, given its location in the Moynihan Hall. I had a pesto artichoke slice specifically, but they had a decent selection of other pies too. It’s a nice thin crust with a very good flavor; perfect for a quick snack. Will definitely return.
In town from DC for work, for train station pie it's great. Usually you get over commercialized crap in a station, this was not that got a slice of Pepperoni and the pesto as recommended as the "best slice" by the staff. Only complaint was it might have been sitting a bit cause the crust was semi stale but overall flavorful, crispy and tender. Maybe Im starved for these crust basics coming from DC but I was satisfied not the best NY slice I have had but one of the best station/airport meals for the price I have had.
Honestly it was super tasty for a train hall. It’s around 5$ for a slice, which is a little steep but I really liked the slice I got! I got the pesto artichoke and the mushroom ricotta and both of those were so good! Vodka pizza was kinda mid. Def recommend if you have a long wait in penn and want a quick bite. They also have lots of vegetarian options. Overall: 4/5 stars from me!!
If You’re looking to grab a GOOD hot slice just before board, this place is it…. Surprised at the reviews because the Pizza is served Hot (temperature) and is absolutely delicious. Had a slice of Cheese Pizza and another one with Vodka Sauce. Thin crust and DELISH !!! Plenty of place to sit as this is the Food Hall and so many other choices to eat at.. Service was quick and fast. They DO NOT carry mainstream sodas and the price was a ‘Can’ of ‘artisinal’ water is rather high.. The ambience is absolutely terrific. It was a Thursday night and the bar nearby had a DJ playing nice music… Most definitely coming back here again if passing thru…
I have been eating NY pizza my whole life- I work across the street from Moynihan and went in to grab a quick lunch. Saw Sauce pizza and thought I would try it. Wow- their “square slice” is a poofy bread with a layer of melted cheese over the top. No crunch to the bread, no real taste and the cheese just peels off the top. Despite being disappointed that I had spent $7 on this slice- I am horrified that visitors to NY via Moynahan Train station will think this is representative of nyc.
READ THIS BEFORE YOU GO!!!! So if you’re reading this review you are A either about to get pizza here or B disappointed in how bad it is. I’ve had a long day exciting and I wanted some pizza (this is my first time in NYC) and I saw this pizza place and said “hey let’s try New York pizza” I stumbled upon this area and bought 2 slices of pizza which were both overcooked and terrible then I got a soda to wash out the taste and it tasted horrible so I got another flavor and it was……horrible If I were you I would just go to the Mexican place next to it.
