My mom and I had a wonderful lunch, during Restaurant week, here at Socarrat. The place is very inviting and cozy. The atmosphere is unpretentious and warm. The service is wonderful. The staff was attentive and friendly. Mom ordered the Gambas Al Ajillo (Shrimp Scampi) and I ordered the Croquetas of the day. On this day they were Mushroom Croquetas. The Shrimp Scampi was very good, the garlic did not overpower the dish. The Croquetas were the best I ever had. They were light and airy. The bread they brought to the table was also very good. We ordered the Paella Socarrat for two. It was delicious. It had a great balance of seasoning. The only thing I would have excluded were the Fava Beans but that wasn't an issue. For dessert, mom had the Flan and I had the Churros with a side of Chocolate to dip them in. Mom liked her Flan, she said it was light and creamy. This Flan is a little different than the traditional one, in that it has, Passion Fruit in the sauce. The Churros were good especially when dipped in the Chocolate. The music in the background was pleasant. Both my mom and I would return to this lovely place.

Friendly and attentive staff, delicious food, and amazing atmosphere, what more could you ask for. The Carne Paella is absolutely amazing, full of flavor and even has a nice crunch around the edge. Absolutely a must when in NYC!

As usual, the food was ridiculously amazing — the gambas al ajillo and grilled chorizo were perfection! Mila, the manager, was so attentive and professional, making us feel right at home. Great food, great music, great wine — always a pleasure to come back!

Truly excellent, fresh, delicious food. Had the patatas bravas, shrimp dish, and a great mixture of veggies dish. Sorry for being awful with names. Got the Socarrat paella for main which was 10/10. Juanito made the experience very special. Will be back!

This pub is a banger! Food’s unreal—think delicious food that slaps harder than a summer hit. Manager’s a vibe, running the show like a rockstar, making everyone feel like family. Bartender’s a cocktail-slinging genius, whipping up drinks that’ll make you wanna kiss the glass. 10/10, I’m moving in.

Came for brunch with a party of 5 on Sunday noontime. We were seated on the second floor, which was thankfully quiet. Food was fantastic. I've been here for lunch before, and am happy to report that I may like the brunch menu even more. I will say the iced coffee I ordered was underwhelming—very watery, even for an americano—and very pricey, at $6. I could have made better at home. Otherwise, it was a lovely meal, with above and beyond service from our server, Rachel. Be aware that a party of 5+ is considered a large party, meaning an automatic 20% gratuity, but this was not a problem for me.

L

such a cute and lively place, the waiter gave us great recommendations and I can't recommend the mushroom dish (setas salteadas) enough. We shared the cheesecake for dessert and it had fresh sliced strawberries. And Socarrat is on Inkind!

I had one of the most wonderful experience yet while dining in NYC. Mila the manager was very attentive ,gave us very good recommendations on the wine and food. Mila was extremely knowledgeable and definitely made our night one to remember. They are very much about customer service. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Another great deal for restaurant week! The croquette has a mushy and creamy filling. Mushroom is delicious, very well-seaoned. Paella is a little salty but delicious as well, with a slightly crispy layer in the bottom. The desserts are really good. Churros go really well with the chocolate dip and flan is not too sweet. All of this is $29/person + tax for lunch.

Milagros Digdigan

Amazing service from Jose, our waiter and Mila, the general mngr even bothered to come meet us and have a chat at our table, gave us complimentary moscato! Love this place, the food is amazing, the sangrias are lovely, and have made great memories with my family celebrating milestones here over the years whenever I visit NYC!

A

The paella was amazing!!! One paella is enough for two so we ordered two for our party of four (Socarrat and Carne - both delicious!). The Sangria Roja was probably one of the best sangrias Ive ever had - very tasty. The restaurant had a nice ambience: calm, soft but enjoyable background music (made it easy to conversate), fancy looking - exactly what were looking for last night. Thanks to Patricia our lovely waitress! Definitely looking forward to coming back soon.

We enjoyed friendly service, tasty dishes, and a lively atmosphere. Our server Anthony was especially awesome! The happy hour menu allowed us to sample delicious and well portioned plates, and they had great deals on all their drinks. Kudos to the staff for inquiring about allergies and being mindful of these. All in all a fun evening in NYC!

I went for an early dinner with my husband for Valentine’s Day. Everything was great! The food was amazing as always and the service was excellent too. We had the vday menu. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive. We don’t drink but she offered to replace our drink for a mocktail instead of the glass of Prosecco included in the prix fixe menu. That was really nice!

J

What stands out is that our server noticed one of our paella was overdone and the restaurant offered to make it again for us even though we were halfway in finishing the dish. We thought it was just cooked that way and it was tasty anyway, albeit a little salty. Great dishes overall.

T

Excellent Spanish food, we stumbled upon walking the New York streets at 2nd Ave. better than in Spain. Seafood Paella just perfect! Good Tapas too.

Amazing, Authentic Spanish Cuisine! This spot delivers truly authentic Spanish flavors in a warm, casual setting that still feels special. The dishes are prepared with care and full of traditional touches, while the atmosphere strikes the perfect balance—relaxed and inviting, yet elevated enough for a nice night out. A wonderful place to enjoy delicious food without any pretension.

Socarrat is the place to be when it comes to Paella! Their tapas ( chorizo, gambas and grilled octopus) is something you would take delight in. Service is outstanding. Angie and Luis and the rest of the team were excellent with their service!!! Ambience, superb! Definitely coming back again and again! Ooops not to mention the Moscatel.. tastes heavenly! Thank you Socarrat!

Sacarat's food is an absolute delight! Their paella is hands down one of the most authentic you’ll find in New York—every bite transports you straight to the heart of Spain. The dishes I tried were nothing short of exceptional and truly unforgettable. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, with the added charm of outdoor seating that lets you soak in the vibrant energy of the city. Sacarat is a culinary gem you can’t afford to miss.

G
Gabriela E. Mendez

I must say I was very pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. I made a reservation for lunch and ordered the croquetas de chorizo (I’ve had better but these were good), gambas al ajillo, paella and churros. The paella is perfect: made over a large surface to make sure it develops socarrat, tasty and enough to feed 2! Pro tip: order lime wedges and squeeze over the rice! The red sangria was tasty and refreshing, a perfect pairing! My one complaint is the churros which were not firm enough or golden enough for my taste. This place has a two-course lunch menu for $25 so I see myself returning soon.

Visited Soccarat Midtown location on a hot summer evening for their Happy Hour special deal. We did not have reservations but were promptly seated by the staff at a table inside which was air conditioned. They also have outdoor seating which is cute. We ordered about 13 items from their Tapas menu and each dish was delicious and we went for seconds. Red wine sangria and lemonade went well with the food. Some of our favorites were Octopus, bacon wrapped dates, shrimp gambas, squid, scallops and jamon, chorizo and croquettes. Service was excellent and prompt. Will be back for more!

An absolute gem in Midtown East: tucked on 2nd Avenue between 50th and 51st, this Spanish spot delivered a five-star experience from start to finish-welcomed by the wonderful manager Mila, then pampered by Luis, the superb Ecuadorian bartender; the room thrummed with upbeat Latino music and an eclectic mix of guests from all walks of life, all clearly loving it-if body language is anything to go by, there were smiles and laughter to boot-just steps from the UN, and the chic ambience with sidewalk views added to the upscale, Bond-movie vibe. I started with Gambas al Ajillo-sizzling shrimp with garlic, guindilla peppers, and smoky chorizo-perfect alongside Luis's impeccably poured pints of Estrella Damm; the pièce de résistance was the Bacalao a la Plancha: flawlessly grilled cod with Spanish ratatouille and crisp potatoes, a dish so good I felt like I was suspended in thin air. I finished with the Tarta de Queso (classic Basque-style cheesecake with a strawberry sauce finish)-$14 and worth every penny-so silky and rich it genuinely blew my mind. World-class food, world-class hospitality-thoroughly recommended - can't wait to get back there - keep up the good work Mila! Joe T

If you’re looking for a delightful escape to Spain without the hefty price tag, Socarrat Paella Bar is the place to be. The service here is top-notch, with a courteous staff that makes you feel right at home. Their happy hour is a standout, featuring fantastic drinks and delicious tapas served right at the bar. The decor and seating create a charming atmosphere that adds to the overall experience. Whether you're in the mood for a drink, some tapas, or a full meal, I highly recommend Socarrat Paella Bar for an authentic taste of Spain.

I’ve been a Socarrat customer for a long time and I have seen many changes but the one constant and what keeps me coming back is Juanito, the bartender.. He makes you feel at home! He is personable and polite, and provides excellent service!!. In summary, excellent service, excellent bartender and most amazing tapas/sangria in NYC! And the Happy hour is excellent and includes sangria and tapas, my favorite tapas: gambas (shrimp), pulpo (octopus- so tender), batatas bravas (potatoes), datiles (dates) and coles (brussel sprouts- amazing!!) even the vegetarian choices are delicious!! And the paella wow, amazing!!

✨ Loved, loved, loved! ✨ We stopped in for a late afternoon drink and small bites, and everything from the atmosphere to the service was top-tier. The staff was so warm and welcoming — they even surprised us with a sweet treat that made our visit feel extra special. The tapas were delicious (perfectly portioned and packed with flavor), and the cocktails were stunning — beautifully crafted and strong in all the right ways. Socarrat Paella Bar is now on my go-to list for a chill, elevated Midtown moment. Highly recommend for anyone looking for great vibes, amazing food, and service that makes you feel seen. Gracias, Socarrat team! I’ll be back. 🥂

The paellas I’ve had at Socarrat are definitely among the best I’ve had, but what makes this restaurant truly shine are the tapas. We came here during a work event, and our table ordered many tapas. Each one was memorably delicious! The atmosphere and service were both really fantastic

M
Maddie Klein

The food was delicious and the service was attentive and quick! Loved all the gluten free options and that the server asked us whether cross-contamination in the fryer was okay or not. The paella was beautifully presented and very tasty. My only complaint is that the music was a little too loud, making it hard to hear our conversation sometimes. That won't stop us from coming back though!

Beautiful restaurant with incredible service and unbelievable food. The owner came to greet us with a dessert recommendation and it did not disappoint at all. Will be making this a regular spot moving forward

Nestled in the heart of Midtown, Socarrat Paella Bar offered more than just a meal—it was a grounding experience, a reminder of the importance of presence and indulgence in life's simple pleasures. The restaurant’s quaint, low-lit ambiance set the perfect tone for slowing down and savoring every bite. We started with chorizo con garbanzo, a hearty blend of Spanish chorizo, spinach, chickpeas, and paprika, alongside mejillones a la marinera, tender mussels bathed in a white wine and lightly spiced tomato sauce. Each bite was warming, layered with depth and comfort. But the highlight of the night was the socarrat paella—a masterpiece of textures and flavors, featuring free-range bone-in chicken, chorizo, shrimp, white fish, squid, mussels, cockles, fava beans, and a rich tomato sofrito, all perfectly crisped at the bottom of the pan. Moments like these remind me how essential it is to pause, indulge, and allow ourselves to simply be. Too often, we move through life rushing from one task to the next, eating on the go, or treating meals as obligations rather than experiences. But there is healing in presence, in taking the time to enjoy a beautifully prepared dish, to engage all five senses, and to connect—with ourselves, our loved ones, and even the culture embedded in the food before us.

Very cozy and warm. Love the ambiance and the feel. They decorated it for Valentine’s Day, which was cute. They have a minimum of two servings for ordering paellas, so we didn’t get any, but the tapas we ordered were very good. The service was warm and they were very attentive. The flavor combinations complimented each other very well. Overall a great one time experience.

I had walked past this spot so many times on my way to work and finally decided to pop in because the vibes just looked too cute to ignore ✨ They had the sweetest little window seats and it felt warm and inviting from the second we stepped inside. They were featured for Restaurant Week which already had great deals, but honestly the happy hour plates were a complete steal. Such a good surprise stop in the middle of my work week. The owner and staff made the experience even better. The owner was so sweet and welcoming, making sure we had a cozy seat and even offering us a fresh appetizer to try. You can tell they genuinely care about the experience and it shows 💛 Now let’s talk food. The bacon wrapped dates were the star of the show for me 😍 Super crunchy and flavorful on the outside, and then perfectly sweet and chewy in the middle. That sweet and salty combo was unreal. I would go back just for those. The chorizo with chickpeas was packed with flavor and so comforting. The broth was rich and delicious, and I loved the balance of veggies and meat. It felt hearty but still fresh. We also ordered the pan con tomate which had really fresh sourdough with a thin layer of bright tomatoes. It was simple and good. Just a heads up, the tortilla platter also comes with bread and tomato, so we ended up with a lot of carbs on the table 🍞 The tortilla itself was classic and comforting with creamy potatoes inside and shishito peppers on the side. Overall such a cute, welcoming spot with amazing hospitality and flavorful tapas. This was such a fun little surprise find on my way to work and I’ll definitely be back 🥂✨

The food is very delicious, my favorite is the lamb paella. This place is great, my favorite Spanish restaurant when I visit New York. It truly reminds me of Spain. The staff is very attentive and makes you feel at home. I will definitely be back and will recommend it to my friends. The best paellas and tapas in Manhattan! Very good food for the price. We such a great dinner at Socarrat in Midtown East. We got the black squid ink paella special with lobster, and it was honestly incredible—so much flavor, perfectly cooked rice, and the lobster/fish was super fresh. The Socarrat paella is also amazing. Definitely one of the best paellas I’ve had in the city. We also shared a few tapas and loved every single one—everything was really well done and so tasty. The whole vibe of the place was great too—fun, cozy, and felt really authentic. Can’t wait to go back!

This place was awesome! The food was delicious and gorgeous. They didn't rush us, and we even got a free dessert drink – I forget the name. The portions were just right, not too much, not too little. The paella looks huge, but if you're starving, maybe get a tapa or two.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC, and I’ve been a regular visitor for quite some time. Recently, I fell in love with it even more. When my parents visited NYC for the first time, this was the first restaurant I brought them to as soon as they arrived. They loved the appetizers and were excited about the main dish, the Paella. However, it was a bit salty that evening, and we could barely touch it. Thankfully, Javier Z noticed we were having an issue and went above and beyond to help by having the dish recooked. What could have been a disappointing night for my parents turned into a wonderful experience, thanks to his exceptional service. If you’re looking for amazing Spanish food and outstanding service, this is the spot!

Delicious foods makes you feel at Spain during your stay in New York. Employees are friendly and makes you comfortable. Especially this restaurant has a very clean restroom which has a Dyson hand dryer. They only have only few outdoor tables. Lunch set including an appetizer and a main dish is 25 dollars.

Went here for restaurant week over the summer and the food was tasty! We got a paella and chose between a few appetizers and small desserts - generous portions so we had leftover paella afterward. The restaurant was a little hot so I’d go back, but probably only in fall/winter when it’s cooler.

This place is our most favorite go-to for happy hour in the neighborhood. I don’t drink that much but for my husband, he loves all the Spanish beer. For me, the highlights are those half- priced tapas, and also some special priced items that are more than half-priced but less than the regular price during happy hours. Love the octopus, grilled squids and grilled sea bass fillet. Outside of happy hour, we like to share seafood paellas and some desserts. So delicious! (The pictures attached are a compilation of our visits throughout these couple of years).

TLDR: Food wasn’t bad, ambient decor, basic service. We were seated upstairs on the second floor. It didn’t appear that the first floor was full but maybe they wanted to even out service. Whatever the reason, we found the upstairs atmosphere very nice and cozy, though keeping its classy European style. For the tapas, we ordered the Gambas al Ajillo (sizzling shrimp), Chorizo (sausage), and Dátiles (bacon-wrapped dates). For our main courses we opted for the Socarrat Paella for two and the Lamb Chops. We also did two flans and an order of churros for desert. All of this was part of the Restaurant Week menu (45 dollars for three courses). The tapas were good. The shrimp was extremely hot, given it was sizzling and served in a tub of garlic oil, but tender. The chorizo was not too rich yet satisfyingly soft and meaty. I wasn’t a huge fan of the “fava bean pesto” puree that came ontop because it lacked flavor. The dates were delicious, and the sweetness paired well with the smoky, charred nature of the bacon and the sourness of the apple puree. We ended up asking for double bread because the garlic oil from the shrimp was asking to be soaked up. The lamb chops were surprisingly small and came with some roasted vegetables. There were three pieces. The meat was juicy and tender, but I wish there was more. The paella was decent, but because it was such a big serving, it quickly turned monotone and boring. There was a weird smokiness to it that I couldn’t place my hand on, but otherwise there was an abundant amount of seafood and tender chicken. I’d also mention that a majority of the “crispy” rice stuck to the skillet was in fact not crispy but rather hard and chewy, so that wasn’t great, but I guess you’d expect as much. The flan was light and not too sweet; delicious. The churros came out piping hot and served with a decadent cup of chocolate sauce. Those were amazing too. Our server was Juan A. He was courteous but did not come around that often and wasn’t particularly warm and friendly. The service in general was quite slow. The time it took for our tapas to come out was about 15 minutes, and then after we were done another 15 until entrees. Overall, was the food good? Sure. It wasn’t outstanding, and I wouldn’t consider it a great deal, given the relatively small portions (yes we are in Manhattan but still). Though, if you’re looking for a paella fix, this is definitely the spot to come to.

Came here for their Thanksgiving dinner with some friends. We were looking for somewhat traditional food with a twist and that’s just what we got. It was Thanksgiving Spanish-style. A turkey paella - that’s all you need to know. The menu was nicely curated and we felt like we had a proper dinner - turkey and the traditional fix-ins in one way or another. It seemed amazing on paper, but in terms of execution - we felt like there was something missing. The food in the end was just good, not great. We honestly couldn’t put our finger on it, but these were our honest feelings. The best thing I had and that I’m still thinking about and would come back for is the Café Bombón - a shot of espresso with condensed milk. It was amazing! Overall, we’re glad we tried it, but maybe we’ll stick to a completely traditional dinner next year and we’d love to come back for their regular dinner.

Big fan of Socarrat Paella Bar. Their bacon-wrapped dates stuffed with Valdeón cheese & almonds in a roasted apple purée were AMAZING. I was just SO impressed with all of the tapas. It really says something positive about a restaurant when the appetizers are just as delicious and well thought out as the main dishes! Can’t say I didn’t love the seafood paella as well, but I’d be tempted to go back just to try out more of their tapas 😋

Socarrat specializes in paella. Though we went specifically for that reason, we actually liked our appetizers better. Bacon wrapped dates with blue cheese had a great balance of flavor. The crispy brussel sprouts were absolutely delicious. Now, for the paella... it was good, but not great. We are used to a golden paella with saffron, which we absolutely love. This was a more tomato, pepper based paella which was quite garlicky and good, but not the paella we know and love. So,we were a bit disappointed, but it was still a good experience. Service was friendly, space was tight but convivial.

Great service, good food. paella is usually supposed to be quite dry and crunchy, the waiter had his own method for detaching it from the pan! The flavor was good, but honestly my favorite was the sangria. It was so refreshing and rich.

4.5/5 stars. We discovered Soccarat while exploring the neighborhood and were drawn in by its appeal. Since it was going to rain, we skipped the outdoor patio and were warmly greeted by the staff inside. We ordered a few beers, a glass of wine, and two cocktails - the Oxacaqueno and Mezquino, both of which were well-made. The small plates were a highlight, with the patatas bravas, chorizo con garbanzos, datiles, and coles de bruselas all being great. The pulpo a la Gallega was tasty, though it could have been less chewy. We also shared two servings of paella, which was plenty for our group of four. To top it off, the host surprised us with complimentary desserts - the flan and churros were delicious. Given the amount of food and the happy hour deal, the price was a great value. We'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. It’s great for big groups. Kids allowed.

The squid and rice dish provided a delightful culinary experience, but the highlight was undoubtedly the lamb shoulder, noted for its remarkable tenderness and rich flavor. The garlic shrimp also deserves special mention; it is rightfully one of the most sought-after items on the menu. The combination of this dish with crusty bread created an exceptional harmony of textures and tastes that enhanced the dining experience. We celebrated a birthday at this restaurant, and as a thoughtful gesture, they offered us complimentary champagne, which added a memorable touch to the celebration. It was an extraordinary occasion that we will not soon forget!

Not really a fan of Spanish tapas style foods. Thought the vegetarian options were somewhat lacking. The bottom layer of crispy rice was good and the churros tasted pretty authentic, but the omelet, bread with tomatoes, and potato bites were all pretty bland.

I don’t want to be the Spaniard food vigilante but some things have to be said. We ordered croquetas, “jamón ibérico 5Js” and seafood paella. Good things first, the croquetas were very good. The paella not so much. Although I appreciated the “socarrat” honoring the name of the restaurant it felt more like rice with stuff on top. The seafood wasn’t particularly good neither was the rice. I get it, it is a complicated dish, but you are a Spanish Paella restaurant. And last and most important, you CANNOT LIE in the menu offering “Jamón Ibérico 5J” and then serve Jamón Serrano. That is not an honest mistake. Especially because you also offer Jamón Serrano at a cheaper price. That is not acceptable.

A disappointing experience from start to finish. The verduras were made with low-quality oil — the server claimed it was olive oil, but it had no fragrance or spice (I spend hundreds every year on olive oil) — and they left my stomach hurting almost immediately. The paella was overly oily, and had basically no socarrat, making me miss the extreme crispy socarrat of rural-style fried rice in southern China. The flan was watery and poorly presented. Service was painfully slow, taking two hours to serve a three-course meal without a single “how’s it” check-in. I sat near the open, and the chilly evening air nearly gave me a cold.

I called to make a reservation expecting to speak with someone, but the call was voice automated. It was 5pm, I booked a table for 6:30pm, providing my phone number. Shortly after, I received a text with a link asking for my credit card information to hold the reservation, with the warning that it would automatically cancel if I didn’t confirm. Since my kids was falling asleep, I decided not to enter my credit card info. At 6:32pm, I received another text saying my table was ready. I called the restaurant immediately and finally spoke to someone. I explained the situation but the receptionist was incredibly rude, questioning why I hadn’t canceled the reservation earlier, even though I never received a confirmation in the first place. She even said, "Do you think this is a joke?" I responded,  "No, that's why I'm calling to let you know that we're not going to make it", then she went on and kept lecturing. Finally, I said "ok, thank you bye". This experience left me frustrated and disappointed. It's one thing to have a confusing reservation system, but to be treated rudely after explaining the issue is unacceptable.

J
Jason Vick

Made reservations almost a month in advance only to be told there was a "computer error" after waiting around for 15 mins and they did not have a table available. They seated the party at the end of the bar on stools with no backs which were truly uncomfortable. No apologies nor accommodations from the hostess or manager who couldn't care less. While the octopus app was good, the paella lacked socorrat on over 60%-70% of the pan. There are far better options than Socarrat.
