Opinions de Sushi Lab New York
We had such a great time ! The food was delicious, the service was incredible and the atmosphere was fantastic! We orders the tasting many and got to try a lot of different stuff! The flavors are very unique, not your usual sushi place. I’d recommend it to people who appreciate fine dining and chefs restaurants.
Had such a great experience here! The food was delicious, everything came out fresh and flavorful. Our server Peter was amazing super attentive, friendly, and made sure we had everything we needed. It made the whole night even better being taken care of so well. Definitely coming back!
Sushi Lab delivers a solid rooftop sushi experience with clean flavors and polished presentation in a sleek rooftop space. The fish is fresh and well-cut. The omakase highlights consistency and technique. This place is an easy crowd pleaser, worth it for the atmosphere especially if you value vibe as much as the food. What we ordered : - The Lab Experiment Omakase (15 signature course) - Truffle Shrimp Pasta - Crab Maki - Salmon Belly & Poached Asian Pear 🍐 - Cheese Cake
I rented out this place for an after party for a proposal. This place had the best sushi and was very fresh!! Also the appetizers were phenomenal! Angie or (Angelina) helped me out so much, the day of and was able to accommodate all my requests! Janine helped me with the reservation of the place, and they were so accommodating to all the requests I had! Could have never gotten a better place in NYC. The staff at this place are amazing and helped serve everyone and made amazing food for everyone to enjoy and listened to all the food options that I would like to serve. This place was so affordable and so beautifully decorated for a private event! I repeat I do not think a place exists in NYC this affordable and with the amazing food options for a private event. Also, this place is a rooftop so even more wow! The location of this place is conveniently situated right next to Times Square, allowing visitors to explore other attractions in New York City later at night.
Loved my time at Sushi Lab! The food was fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. If you’re a sushi lover like me, this place is perfect! The service was amazing everyone was so friendly and attentive. I highly recommend the Matcha Crunch Roll and the Sushi Box. Plus, it’s on a rooftop which makes the whole experience even more special. I can’t wait to go back!
Like watching 15 flowers bloom and blossom in front of you. With the change of seasons, when witnessing the cherry blossom lose its leaves, we may feel a desire to hold onto the fleeting moment. But… with a new season, comes a new flower, a new leaf. An experience you won’t regret. As though you walk into a field, find a secret garden hidden by a wall draped with rosy reds and ivy, enter into a glass elevator, and are lifted to 15 different floors, each with a different dreamscape. I wrote this review immediately after my meal, because you need to know about this omakase experience. This is not a restaurant, this is an experience. Question is… are you experienced? If not, don’t worry. Vanessa and David will take care of you like they took care of me. David: 24 years of experience, graceful master. Vanessa: empathy, understanding, and a similar-different zen. Savor everything and enjoy the temperance of every moment. Life is meant to be lived. Plate selection, temperature, texture, tenderness, depth, contrast… only a few of the details you will notice. The Lab Experiment menu is constantly changing, constantly evolving. I know I will return as often as possible. Don’t miss the chance of a lifetime.
I went here with a girlfriend of mine to have lunch and we had such a good time. The restaurant is located on top of the roof of the Sanctuary Hotel. You have to take the elevator and then get off and walk upstairs to the rooftop. The place was quiet, clean and the staff was very friendly and kind. We had a variety of sushi and they didn't disappoint. I know it's a sushi place but I must say I enjoyed the french fries a whole lot. They also offer a few gluten free dishes. I would definitely recommend going here for brunch, lunch or dinner.
First of all, heading to the restaurant felt like a little adventure. We hopped into the elevator after checking in, and then climbed a set of stairs that led us to the rooftop. We decided to go for the omakase. Each dish was a delightful combination of flavours, crafted with such care and creativity. My absolute favourites were the wagyu and foie gras pieces—so rich and delicious, I could’ve eaten them all day, haha! 🥹🥹 Huge thanks to Chef David for serving us such outstanding sushi. Highly recommend if you’re looking for a good sushi spot with charm and flavour.
My boyfriend and I had an amazing experience here! We went with the Chef’s Selection Omakase, and it did not disappoint. The fish was incredibly fresh, and each piece seemed to top the last. We got to watch each dish being made, and every bite was unique and full of flavor. We also tried the salmon belly and poached Asian pear appetizer, which was light, refreshing, and perfect to start a meal without being too filling. The drinks were excellent as well. The Lychee Martini was the best I’ve had anywhere in the city! Our server (I wish I remembered his name) was fantastic. For our anniversary, we were surprised with complimentary champagne, which was such a thoughtful touch. He also overheard that the guest next to us was celebrating a birthday and added a candle to his dessert. The service truly went above and beyond. (our reservation was 9/13 under Messier) Highly recommend!
A Flawless Fusion of Ambiance, Artistry, and Omakase Excellence Stepping through the opulent, statue-adorned lobby of The Sanctuary Hotel in NYC is an experience in itself, setting a dramatic stage for the culinary theater that awaits at Sushi Lab, its stunning rooftop restaurant. On a recent Thursday evening, my wife and I were transported from the bustle of the city into a world of chic sophistication. The restaurant’s ambiance strikes a perfect balance between intimate and energetic, reminiscent of a trendy Las Vegas hotspot like Vanderpump, yet entirely its own. After an emotionally profound day at the 9/11 Memorial, the experience at Sushi Lab was the perfect antidote. From the moment we arrived for our 8:00 PM reservation, the hospitality was nothing short of phenomenal. The staff, from the welcoming hostess to our incredible server, Peter, created an atmosphere of relaxed indulgence that felt like a warm embrace. We were encouraged multiple times to take our time and savor the evening—a refreshing departure from the often-rushed omakase experiences found elsewhere in the city, and exactly the kind of calm we needed. We began with a selection of appetizers that immediately showcased the kitchen's creativity and commitment to quality. The Tuna Tacos were a delight, with fresh, spicy tuna nestled in crisp jicama shells. However, the true star of the starters was the Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll. The delicate yellowtail, paired with the sharp kick of jalapeño, a savory chili soy glaze, and the crunch of crispy garlic, was an absolute masterpiece of texture and flavor. My wife, not overly hungry after a classic New York hot dog detour earlier, chose the appetizers and the incredible Yellowtail Jalapeño Roll for her meal, which proved to be a showstopper in its own right. Meanwhile, I embarked on what can only be described as a culinary odyssey: "The Lab Experiment." This 15-course signature omakase is a journey for the senses, a meticulously curated procession of the finest ingredients, including buttery fresh truffle and exquisite caviar flown in directly from Japan. The absolute highlight was the Hotate (Scallop). Naturally sweet yet subtly flavored, Sushi Lab's preparation was ingenious, serving it with shiitake mushrooms and generous shavings of fresh truffle that elevated the delicate scallop to an unforgettable level. There wasn't a single course I didn't thoroughly enjoy. What truly elevates Sushi Lab is the seamless execution. The pacing was impeccable; dishes arrived promptly without ever making us feel hurried. The manager graciously visited our table to ensure our experience was perfect, her attentiveness underscoring the team's genuine passion. This is the ideal spot for both omakase newcomers and seasoned aficionados, offering a relaxed environment perfect for catching up with friends or celebrating a special occasion, just as we were for our anniversary. In a city saturated with sushi options, Sushi Lab stands in a class of its own. It delivered, without exaggeration, the best sushi I have ever had. The combination of an enchanting atmosphere, world-class service led by professionals that care about you enjoying your experience, and an unforgettable omakase menu makes it a must-visit destination. We are already planning our return.
Solid omakase experience with good selection of apps and drinks, choose this spot for a casual fun dining night out, but especially if you’re new to omakase. Jeremy is an absolute pleasure every single time, elevating the experience no matter the location. The thing I love most about this place is they don’t rush you out like 90% of omakase spots in the city. Makes for an awesome spot to hang and catch up in peace with a group of friends or colleagues.
This was THE BEST Sushi I’ve ever had in my life!!! server Peter was incredible, the hospitality from the get go at the hostess stand to the grand finale after having the Lab Experiment omakase experience was just phenomenal. Peter was just outstanding, we came from Miami visiting on our anniversary and he definitely provided such a welcoming ambiance for us. We will for sure be coming back to see him and to enjoy the best sushi ever. Thank you to the chefs and staff as well.
We first visited SUSHI LAB Rooftop back in 2021—and four years later, we came back… and it’s even better than we remembered! The food was exceptional—fresh, creative, and absolutely delicious. The rooftop ambiance is just as stunning as ever, with a cozy yet upscale vibe that sets the perfect tone for a night out. What made our return visit truly memorable was the outstanding service. The entire staff was warm and welcoming, and a huge shoutout to Angie, the manager, for going above and beyond to make sure everything was perfect. Her energy and hospitality really stood out! If you’re looking for top-tier sushi, a beautiful ambiance, and five-star service—SUSHI LAB Rooftop should be at the top of your list.
An outstanding gem right off Broadway near times square, this cozy rooftop offers high-end, fresh sushi... some of their fish is flown in from Japan. Get the omakase for sure! It is worth every penny. The meal will set you back $100 or more per person but it us NYC and for the quality of fish and flavor combinations, it is well worth it! The gold digger was a great add-on to the lab experiment omakase!
Really enjoyed my experience at sushi lab rooftop! The service was top tier. The food was delicious! The spicy tuna crispy rice and the salmon belly and poached Asian pear appetizers are a must try! Every specialty roll we tried was packed with exceptional flavors that enticed our taste buds. The rooftop also had heat lamps that keep you warm during the winter months. I can’t wait to come back and try more rolls.
This popped up for having a view. It was easy to get to by foot from our hotel. Getting to the restaurant was interesting. Including an elevator ride and a flight of stairs. The staff were very nice. The view wasn’t as expected but was still pleasant. It was mostly of an office building. However, still entertaining. They were able to accommodate gf and df allergies. I liked it but fair warning that the bathrooms are tiny and not the most hygienic. Grace did a great job and no complaints about the recommendations. I would go back for sure! For the fried taro chips at the very least.
Went to treat my partner on a birthday dinner and had an amazing experience ordering The Lab Experience. The ambience was great with the floral and green decorations, and you feel like you are not in the middle of Manhattan for a moment. I would not be able to recite each creation, but sitting by the Chef’s Counter and observing the detailed work was a fun experience. Now, as I’m writing this and organizing my photos, I can’t seem to add up 15 pieces as the Experience claims. I certainly wasn't counting as they came out, but I did record them as this wasn't an everyday experience for me. The Chef almost forgot the uni and ikura at the end and apologized and rushed to get that in, but that still only made it 14 pieces incl the dessert, and leaves me questioning The $100 Lab Experience a bit. With the dessert, the server gave a complimentary sparkling wine to my partner which was an appreciated gesture. Thank you!
The food was well cooked, and the space was vibrant, but the service was extremely rushed and the prices were very high for what you got. I sat at the bar and ordered the Lab Experiment and a few drinks. For the $100+ price tag, I at least expected to be told what I was getting, but this did not happen. Instead, each course was just put in front of me and a quick whisper of the kind of fish it was (I could barely hear what was being said half the time), but there was never any further explanation of the toppings, way it was cooked or anything else. The only accompaniment was some ginger, no soy sauce or anything else was ever offered (which was fine, it wasn’t really needed), but I thought it might have been desired at certain points. There wasn’t really time to enjoy each course before the next one was put in front of me, at times I hadn’t even taken a bite of one piece of sushi before the next one was served. It was as if the chef was hurrying us along as quickly as possible instead of allowing us to enjoy the “experience.” I also ordered 2 cocktails, and the entire meal was over in less than an hour due to the rushed nature of the meal. But I spent more than $150 per person and still ended up getting pizza later, which is kind of crazy.
