Opinions de The Elgin New York
We came on a snow storm day and it was the perfect escape from the cold! The portion size was huge and the quality was soo good. Highly recommend the tuna poke nachos and the french onion burger (it was so rich the patty was grilled perfectly). For drinks and dessert, we recommend the passion spritz (mocktail) and the hazelnut-filled churros! Overall, the ambiance was really nice and the service was amazing. Great for dates, with friends or family! We will definitely be back to try more of their drinks and food.
The calamari was amazing too, and the halloumi fries, while a bit sweet for me, were still an interesting twist. For mains, the New York Strip was tasty, though slightly overcooked, and the ELGIN and onion soup burgers were both winners—juicy, flavorful, and satisfying. What really made the experience was the staff: super friendly, welcoming, and made the meal feel effortless. The vibe is lively but chill, perfect for a casual night out. Yes, it’s a bit pricey, but the combination of great food, attentive service, and fun atmosphere made it feel worth every penny. I’ll definitely be coming back to try more of the menu and maybe snag that fried cauliflower again!
Came here for a night cap and to watch the end of the Packers game. It was bustling due to its proximity to Rockefeller Center and was fully decked out with Christmas decorations. Luckily we were able to find a spot at the bar for a drink. The bartender was very attentive. Good amount of TVs but overhead sound wasn't on. That didn't bother me though. Overall good experience.
Was in NY to see all the Christmas stuff. Was starving and stopped into The Elgin. This place is beautifully decorated and the bar and 1st level was packed. There were 5 of us and we didn’t have reservations. They put us upstairs at a high top for 5. It was perfect Now the service. We were very well cared for by Sinead (sp?) She was very busy and still took very good care of us. Last but not least, the food. Everything we ordered was amazing. When we left there were many people debating whether to go in or not. I told them they weren’t going to get a better meal anywhere so they all went in.
Great experience. The food was delicious, the Christmas decorations were brill. Very relaxed atmosphere and the service was excellent. The waiters were terrifically attentive. The portion sizes were generous. A starter with the mains left us stuffed. The fish and chips had an interesting chili tartar sauce and well worth it. The French onion burger was decedent and delicious.
Went with my boyfriend on a Saturday night on a whim since we were in the area . The inside is really nice if you like old looking bars . The restaurant is two levels, with bars on each floor which you can sit at (and I’m not sure but it seems like they do prefer to offer that to parties of two). They do have a coat rack on the second floor (couldn’t note one on the first since just passed by). The food was good. I really liked their fries that came with the burger it was excellent. I had their expresó martini was fine. We got there around 4pm and it was full but not packed within a few minutes it definitely picked up. It does look like they had outdoor seating but not sure how many people are willing to sit outside now that it’s cold. Definitely a place to check out if you’re looking for a place to eat are in the area .
We went to the Elgin on a recommendation from the bar tender at the Hard Rock Hotel to watch the baseball and it didn't disappoint. The bourbon selection is fantastic and I had Peg Leg Porker, a Tennessee whiskey that we had when we went for dinner at the same named BBQ joint the other year, just brilliant. The cocktails were well done too but that wasn't the best part. We met the manager and had a wonderful discussion about how whiskeys ans bourbons differ around the country, he was very kind enough to give us samples on the house, and had a great time and a great conversation. If you're looking for a bar in Manhattan that is relaxed, is well stocked and has excellent staff, then The Elgin is the place to go.
We started with the fried cauliflower which was an instant favorite, so crispy and flavorful. The calamari was amazing too. The halloumi fries were a bit too sweet for my taste but still interesting. For mains, we had the New York Strip which was a great option but slightly overcooked. I also tried the ELGIN burger and the onion soup burger, both solid choices. The staff were incredibly friendly, welcoming, and made the whole experience even better. Great vibes, great service. It’s a bit on the expensive side, but great overall
I made a pre-show res for dinner for two at The Elgin, but an oops on my part, we went in April, but I made the res for May. The place was mobbed, a couple with no res was turned away, but a server knew of an empty table upstairs and hooked us up right away. Kudos, and sigh of relief. So first off, if you're looking for a quiet spot for dinner, this is not it. It was noisy, but somehow added to the good vibe. We needed a drink after that close call, and had two House Old Fashioned in front of us in minutes. The good service continued throughout. As for the food, the Humus Trio Plate to start was the star of the show, subtle different flavors between the three servings of humus with pita and veggies. My Ahi Tuna Sando was a shade overdone, but good nevertheless. My wife's Turkey Sandwich was average. We let our server know we had an eight pm show, and she paced everything nicely. I would definitely return when we are in town. Two blocks from Radio City Music Hall by the way. Cheers!
Overall it was a nice meal! The cheeseburger egg roll was my absolute favorite followed by the duck bao buns ! The tuna nachos were also decent. Pasta was a little bit too al dente but I took the rest to go and it was actually delicious the next day! As far as the French onion burger, it was decent as well. Our waitress was superb and the bar itself has a nice vibe. Would definitely come back again!
I sat at the bar during an early afternoon on a Sunday to have some solo time reading my book before heading to the airport! I LOVED the French Onion soup. It was truly a standout in comparison to other French Onion soups I’ve had. The broccolini was very good! My drink was good! My bartender was fine, but was hard to get ahold of and did not seem to be too interested in getting to me, despite the fact that I was one of two people at the long bar, and there were only a few tables who were seated. It wasn’t crowded, so this did surprise me a bit, but not the end of the world! The ambience was simple and typical of what you expect from pubs, but still lovely! I really loved the building and its vibe! It managed to be cozy, as well as spacious and tidy! I liked it! Overall, I’ll probably try a new place when I’m next in town rather than return, but I’m also glad I stopped in to The Elgin!
We came here after a graduation at St Patrick Cathedral with 7 people. The restaurant and bar was packed with people and we were seated promptly. Even though we did not arrive at the same time, the waitress was super friendly and able to manage all our orders timely and orderly. The restaurant atmosphere was bustling and warm. The food was typical average bar food with very good price right by Rockefeller center
Server was good.Good service. Ordered the salmon and I’m pretty sure it died twice. The fish came out gray and slightly burnt. Didn’t really taste like salmon so I assume they may have been caught from the pristine waters of the hudson. The apps were interesting. The bánh mì sliders were actually good… but you only get three for the price, which explains why people are fleeing New York. Pigs in a blanket were fine, but I think I had a similar taste from aldi. My girlfriend accidentally broke her glass by gently tapping it with the refill bottle. So bring a bandaid just in case. Luckily nobody was cut.
I work in the area and our work group often goes to the Elgin after work. We had made a reservation for a table behind the bar to celebrate our friends promotion. I called in advance and explained that we’d have lots of friends coming and going and that we were coming for drinks. The host assured me that reserving that table is ideal for our party. All night long we were treated terribly by who I assume is the manager. We stayed as close to the bar as we could and tried to stay out of the way but we were continually told that we were causing them to lose money meanwhile we were bringing in tons of money for them. We were definitely a bit loud but not outrageous. How we were treated just didn’t make sense - our behavior was totally normal for a bar on a Friday night. We have come here many times and never had this treatment. Not sure we will be returning which is sad because the drinks and food are both great and the rest of the staff were gracious and helpful.
