Opinions de The Owl's Tail New York
LOVED the wine, the food, the vibes! Highly recommend sitting outside if the weather is nice.
This place was an absolute gem! The food, service, and ambiance were all top-notch. My wife and I had an incredible time here, especially during the blizzard when we were looking for a safe haven. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Five stars!
Connor provided amazing service and displayed *absolute professionalism* with a guest who was a bit overextended and unruly. Not only does he pour a mean Sauvignon Blanc, but Connor is everything a bartender/server aspires to be. Honestly, few people who handle a situation with such grace and poise. Amazing executive management skills - to be real. Also the vibe at Owl’s Tail is cute and fun check it out 😘
Fabulous place ... and a favorite of a friend who lives nearby. We sat outside, and it was a bit brisk (November), but the service was quick, and the food and drinks were exceptional. I had a grand time and look forward to my next visit ... cheers
Great cocktails! Great for a drink before going to the Beacon Theater, if you can get in. Small spot.
I have loved Owl’s Tail since my first visit 5 years ago. Cocktails are excellent! Staff is very friendly. Food is a sleeper hit. A great local spot for sure. 🫶🏼
Found this place in a book called Drink Like a Local and with its location and vibe I can see why the locals like it. They change up the drink menu for the season so be sure to check the website for what is on for now. They do seem to get it right as I thoroughly enjoyed the choices I had under their signature drinks. I also recommend trying the steamed shrimp dumplings for a little snack.
The Owl Tail is such a cozy gem, just a quick and easy stroll from the 72nd Street Station (1, 2, and 3 lines). The inside is beautiful, but since the October weather was perfect, we grabbed a table outside and soaked up the vibe. The menu might be small, but it’s packed with great seasonal options and they’ve got a happy hour from 4:30 to 6:30!!! Definitely worth catching. Our servers, Emily and Cynthia, were absolute stars: super friendly, honest, and knew the menu inside out. We went with their suggestions and loved everything. The deviled egg platter (half-off during happy hour!) and the butternut squash crostini were both winners. I ordered the Owltumnal Daiquiri, and wow, it tasted like fall in a glass. The drinks all sounded tempting, so I’m already planning my next visit to try more. Clean bathrooms, good vibes, and a place I’ll definitely be back to check out indoors next time.
Great drinks, super nice staff. Haven’t yet eaten here but would def try! Really nice for something quick before/after the Beacon Theater
Lauren and Collin gave exceptional service. They were incredibly attentive, consistently checked in on us, always refilled our water and were very friendly. The cocktails were excellent and came out quickly. Will definitely be back!
I have been hearing about this place for a while now and decided to give it a try. After a long walk on the Upper West Side, I was lucky enough to get a seat at the bar, since it is quite small. Service was welcoming; I liked the design of the menu. A great selection of cocktails that caters to a vast clientele with different tastes. My cocktails were pretty tasty and well-balanced. The bartender was friendly and seemed knowledgeable. I had the shrimp dumplings, and they were tasty as well. Overall, this place did not disappoint. I had a great time and will likely come back with a date.
I love the atmosphere here, the attention to detail in the decor, the drinks and the food! The menu is limited, which I thought would be a problem, but the dishes that they do have were fantastic! The deviled Eggs, both original and the truffle&mushroom were especially good. My favorite, by far though, was the Chicken Thigh sliders. They have coleslaw on them and the blend of flavors was spot-on. I had to order a second platter, they were that good 👍 The seasonal cocktails are a great touch as well.
Conner is an amazing craft to the cocktail world and his personality is one in a million. Brad the server is very sweet and attentive. Cynthia the host was super sweet and very on top of it. Watched an interaction happen with a guest where the guest was very out of line saying to the host some inappropriate things that no guest should say to an employee of any establishment. And Cynthia handled it beyond well. This bar is doing the absolute best when it comes to hospitality. Also the food is damn good.
I have been here twice with my family while they were visiting, a year apart. We ordered the meatballs, the olives, tuna tartar and the pesto crostini. The food is delicious. So so good. The drinks are also amazing. “She’s a Scorpio” was such a good margarita style cocktail and they didn’t mind subbing the mezcal for a different tequila. Both times we’ve gone, we have had the pleasure of being serviced by John (by accident!). He has amazing energy and made terrific recommendations. John is amazing. Please support your local business and try this spot. And The Owl’s Tail, give John a RAISE!
What a lovely little cocktail bar in Upper Westside! The moment you walk in you begin to feel happy vibes. From the person greeting you at the front desk to the server - everyone meets and greets you with such wonderful energy! ❤️ To add to that, the cocktails are just fantastic. We tried a few and loved all of them. Our server JOHN was so wonderful too. He made sure we got exactly what we wanted. Thank you! It’s important that everything about a place is lovely… Owl’s tail gets all of it right! Will definitely be back!
The Owl's Tail is a great casual spot to grab a drink and some delicious food. I visited on a Sunday night and was seated immediately, even without a reservation. The cheese and meat board were a standout for me, and the drinks were excellent as well. The waiter was friendly and attentive, making sure we had everything we needed. The atmosphere is low-key and colorful, adding to the overall experience. I highly recommend The Owl's Tail for a relaxed night out.
Visited the Owl Tavern recently, and I must say, their Whistle Pig Manhattan is nothing short of amazing—a true highlight for any cocktail aficionado. The deviled eggs were another standout, delightfully delicious and a must-try. However, the rest of the menu didn’t quite hit the mark for me, with dishes that felt a bit underwhelming, avoid the shrimp dumplings, and overpriced. But it’s not all about the food; the service was fabulous, with a waitstaff that’s attentive, efficient, and genuinely makes your experience better. If you’re in for a great drink and some light bites, this place won’t disappoint, but for a full meal, you might want to manage your expectations.
Great cocktails and atmosphere! Service was a little slow… the girl at front desk was just sat on her phone while we waited to order. But the cocktails made up for the wait!
Super cute vibe, bumping at 5pm on a Friday. Got seated in outdoor heated area which was great. Started with single espresso as they don’t have oat milk for a capp or latte, which is a bummer. Espresso, however, was fantastic. Some of the best I’ve had tbh. Ordered the rum hot toddy which was fine. The caprese-prosciutto toasts were really tasty! I felt like it was a good amount for the price. All in all, cute vibe, I look forward to going back to try more cocktails.
Such a great place to end the night and they have some FANTASTIC mocktails, which I really appreciated. I also had their nutella cookie sandwich — delicious! 🤤 It's a quaint little spot off of Broadway so not a lot of noise, and the atmosphere of the place is very chill and laid back. Great for date nights and friend-dates. The 4 ⭐️ in service is because of the host, everyone else was great. That man could not be bothered and seemed so over it. It's so common to come across that kind of attitude in NY, and it's incredibly off putting so it needs to be acknowledged. Other than that, definitely recommend this place!
I've been eyeing this place for a quick bite and drink for months now. I decided to go today, they opened at 3pm. I arrived at like 3:15, I was asked if I had a reservation, No then if I wanted to sit at the bar, No then if I wanted to sit at the shared table top with stools, NO. The place was almost empty it made me feel like the hostess felt it would be a waste for me to sit at a table by myself. I stayed about 40 minutes and spent over $50 dollars. The server who's name I didn't catch was very nice and timely. The oysters tasted great and my drink was exactly what I needed!!! Not sure if I'll go back though.
A good place with solid drinks. The food was ok. Like it before Beacon Theatre, but keep your expectations grounded.
It is advisable to secure a reservation to avoid a potential wait time of 20-25 minutes. Due to the compact size of this cocktail bar, noise levels can escalate significantly inside, potentially becoming overwhelming for some patrons, particularly after consuming alcoholic beverages(or not). This ambiance may not be conducive to relaxed conversation, as shouting may be necessary to communicate with one's party. Furthermore, during busy periods, it is prudent to inquire about the allocated table time with the hostess. We experienced an unexpected situation where we were informed that our table was needed back in 30 minutes, despite having unfinished drinks. Providing patrons with advance notice of their table's time constraint would allow for better time management. While the beverages and food were satisfactory, individuals who value minimal wait times or prefer a more relaxed atmosphere may consider visiting at less busy hours.
