Pizzeria Mozza in Newport Beach is highly rated for its delicious pizza and attentive service. Many reviewers specifically praise the crust and fresh ingredients. Valet parking is available, but some find street parking and walk.
Tip: If you visit, try to sit at the wine bar to be served by "The King of Poland" for great drink recommendations.
Food and service were great! Hard to get a reservation but worth it. A little chilly outside so we sat at the pizza bar and got to watch everything being made, which is always fun. We wound up only having 1 pizza and 3 appetizers (octopus, cauliflower, shaved brussels sprouts) for 2 adults and a child which was plenty. Butterscotch budino for dessert. Cocktails were decent but a little diluted. Nice amari selection and our server gave me a taste of one I had never tried before. Only downside of Mozza is the non-existent parking and having valet on busy/fast Costal Highway. Would still visit again though.
This was out first time at Mozza. This is such a fantastic restaurant with a very special and relaxed feel. The service was superior and the food was super fresh and flavorful! We were there to celebrate my sons birthday and this was the perfect spot to celebrate. Comfortable atmosphere and beautiful ambiance, we are so glad we picked Mozza to celebrate this special occasion.
We had an amazing dinner here last night! The pizza with prosciutto actually made my jaw drop after the first bite. The flavor of the homemade sauce and everything was just too good. I want to return and try other pizza flavors. This is definitely a place for foodies who want to spend more for their meal to be higher quality. We had to pay for valet to park the car on site. But it’s a quick restaurant, with the 2 of us, we were in and out in less than an hour.
There is only Valet parking so we found some street parking 0.6 miles away and had a nice walk which wasn’t bad. We ordered the Mozzarella di Bufalo because our server recommended it and boy did it live up to the expectations!! I’ve had pizza in Italy and this is the closest I’ve ever tasted in America. The Mozzarella was divine, they put such a large scoop on every slice. The crust was very airy and had the right about of crispiness with softness. One of the best pizzas I’ve ever had, worth the money!
This was by far one of our favorite stops on our trip. It was highly recommended and for good reason. MAKE SURE if you visit this place, try and sit at the wine bar to be served by "The King of Poland". This guy is so cool and he knows his drinks like nobody's business. He made great recommendations from the menu that paired well together. Great conversation, ambiance, and the food is AMAZING (as you can see by the pictures). It's not your average, cheap pizza joint - but you definitely get what you pay for.
My wife and I's third time at Pizza Mozza, but first time at their new Newport Beach location. There is no loss in quality and it was actually my favorite experience to date. The food was sensational with the kitchen firing on all cylinders. Our server was highly knowledgeable about the entire menu from apertifs to desserts. Overall you won't find a more fairly priced and delicious dining experience in LA. Do yourself a favor and get to all of Nancy Silverton's Mozza Complex Restaurants. The meal consisted of: Mozza Caprese - order this every time. The tomatoes are among the most fruitful and fresh I've ever tasted and the buffalo mozzarella is creamy and delicious . Margherita pizza add Fennel Sausage - perfect chewy crust with incredible flavors. Ricotta stuffed Squash blossoms - a unique bite where the creamy ricotta pairs so delightfully with the salty and bitter squash blossoms. Spaghetti w/ summer truffle - handmade pasta remains the star here with light summer truffle, cheese and butter adding richness and depth to the dish. Ribs Al Forno - dry rubbed and delicious as can be. The meat pulled off the bones effortlessly and with so much flavor in every bite, you can't help but keep eating these. Butterscotch Budino - a salty sweet dessert that dreams are made of. An absolute must if you have not had it before.
If you’ve ever experienced pizza in Napoli then you must try Mozza pizza! Even no carbs fanatics are unable to resist eating this crust. Exceptional service combined with quaint ambience that offers a dining memory that you’ll hold true to your heart forever.
I had not been in atleast 6 or 7 years. Went thinking it might not be as good as it once was. Honestly, it was better. the pizza is spectacular. Maybe even better than ever. Great service great experience. I hope I make it back soon.
Beautiful location near the beach in Newport. Right next to the Ferrari dealership. There is valet parking. The food is fabulous like always. Just like their location on Melrose. Get the boudino for dessert. It won them a Michelin star! It's amazing!
Delicious!!! First time trying this restaurant and it was so yummy!! From the valet, to the seating host to the wait staff! Everyone was on point. Our waitress Erin C was wonderful and broke down the menu for us and made awesome recommendations. Definitely coming back!
First time here after watching Nancy Silverton's story on Netflix. It was amazing!! The food and drinks were on point, and the service was cordial, and friendly. W My wife and I had Nancy's Chopped Salad, and it was more than enough for us to split. My wife then had the Margherita Pizza and I indulged in the Salmon Steak. The pizza sauce was one of the best my wife has ever tasted and the salmon was just what the doctor ordered.

Nancy Silverton's cooking just flat out makes me happy. I'm not sure how else to describe it. Fantastic, elevated flavors but not fussy or pretentious. Great wine list. Just go here.
We went without a eservation and had a surprisingly short wait. We sat at the kitchen bar and enjoyed watching the staff preparing all the different items. We ordered the bone marrow and the Nancy's chopped salad. Both were delicious but the bone marrow was amazing. We could have stopped there as the salad was huge, but we ordered a lasagne and were so happy with it. We watched as it baked to perfection in the pizza oven. And heck since we were on a roll we decided to order desert. I wish I could remember what it was called but my girlfriend said it was the Best Ever. The bartender Andrew, paired it with a fantastic Port and I enjoyed it with my Makers Mark. It's been a few years since we have been here, but I think it will have to put back on our regular visit list.
My absolute FAVORITE pizza everrrr!!!! We love Pizza Mozza so much. The food is always delicious and the service is always outstanding! When you visit, please ask for Cristo. He is the worlds best waiter! You will love all of his recommendations!
Always delicious. Must haves include the bread, pizzas, burrata, and Nancy's chopped salad. Friendly, knowledgeable service. Perfect for a dinner date on the nicer end of casual or a nicer dinner out for a large group. Reservations are definitely recommended.
I'm so glad I gave this place a shot even though the yelp reviews had me in serious doubt of that decision. We came in to celebrate some friends birthdays on a Sunday evening and the food was delicious! I made reservations to play it safe - just in case they happened to get busy Sunday night. We arrived and got seated promptly. We ordered drinks - a bottle of wine, a whiskey flight and a libation. For apps, we ordered the burricota and the brussel sprouts. For dinner we ordered the Fennel sausage pizza, brussel sprout pizza (no meat) and the ravioli. The pizza crust was out of this world yummy. I really enjoyed both pizzas and the ravioli just took me on the train to food coma. It was just as mouth watering good as it sounded on the menu. We were definitely in love with our food and so was our taste buds. The dessert menu is out of this world. The gelato and sorbetto selections are jaw dropping and will make you drool - be sure to save room!! Service...hmm, this was was tough. It started off really crappy. When I say that, I mean, the waiter couldn't help us identify a bottle of wine that wasn't too dry or too sweet. He was nice enough to bring out 2 samples of wine I was debating between. But he didn't really seem to have knowledge of the wine list. I would have much preferred he knowledge he wasn't sure but could circle back with me after asking someone. Not wanting to make an issue of it, we selected a bottle and moved along with our dining experience. The bottle of wine came promptly, but the drinks for our dates, seemed to lag a bit. We waited about 10-15 min. They finally came and we were hoping to go forth and order our appetizers. Again, being our first time, we did have questions about the appetizers and asked about some of the favorite here and what's recommended to try. We really got no feedback and just ordered the burricota and the brussel sprouts. Both were fantastic, but we have no idea shaved brussel sprouts meant shredded. LOL - mistake on our part, sure. But I wish we got a little more info about it from our server. Time for our main entrees, the pizza came out but the ravioli went missing for quite sometime. We even lost our server. We were able to flag down another waiter who was gracious enough to help us. He checked in on our ravioli and explained what a popular item is was and how delicious it was. Where was this guy hiding the whole time?! I wish I could recall his name, but he was fabulous in his recommendations and service. He checked in on us once the ravioli arrived and brought out water, we'd been waiting on since the beginning of our meal. So what started as crappy service, ended on a better note with a completely different server. Overall, we had a wonderful dining experience. I do think if you are going to make a heafty price tag for a meal like this one, service needs to be on par or fantastic to really keep the dining experience alive. While it started off on a sour note for us, we were able to end our night on a high note and really appreciated our last waiter checking in and making us feel important. The food is great and definitely does not lack flavor. Will be back again to try out some more on the menu! Parking Tip: There is a $5 charge for valet. Be sure to keep cash on you, or you can try your luck with street parking.
This is such an amazing place! The entire Staff was outstanding. Elmer was great and really made us feel at home. We will be back! Thanks again for a terrific meal and atmosphere.
Do you know that scene in Ratatouille when the food critic takes a bite of food and instantly gets transported to a memory of his childhood? That's what happened when I had my first bite of pizza. Each dish is so we'll crafted and fresh that you will wish there was more food far beyond the point where you're stuffed. Eat here. And save me a seat.
Everything about this place was wonderful. Josh W gave us the exact service we needed. Pizzas are hand crafted in front of you and absolutely incredible! Moderately priced so a great date night restaurant. We will definitely be back!
We ordered 6 different pizzas, 4 different pastas, arugula salads and meatballs for 8 adults and 4 children between the ages of 2 and 7. It was perfect gluttony and I regret nothing. Wines are good
Their drinks are beautiful. Buzzing, warm atmosphere. Their simple margarita pizza with their special , super fresh San Marzano sauce... mind blowingly good. Try the squash blossom appetizer.
CARB SPECIALISTS!! That's who these folks are. I forget the names of everything because it's all in Italian. But there's a $5 table bread and it's beautiful. My wife ordered a Margherita pizza and it was perfect. There's so much flavor in a relatively simple dish. It's crazy. Be warned that the lemonade and Arnold Palmer come in tiny little glasses and cost $5/each with no free refills. IDK why that upset me, but it did! 😂 Anyway, still giving five stars because me being a cheapskate shouldn't equal a ding in the rating.
The meatballs, prosciutto, burrata, pizzas and deserts were all absolutely delicious. The service was impeccable, and everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed their meal.
Simmilar style to traditional napolitana pizza, very tasty and high quality ingredients. I recommend this place to all pizza lovers, although the sizes are quite small. The salad portions however are quite large.
Best pizza around--- anywhere. Of course there will be purists who claim the only real pizza can be found in Italy-- so what? The quality of the ingredients and dough blows everything else out of the water. Oh yeah, they have great salads-- the kale and gelato-- the olive oil. check it out
We got the Nancy chopped salad, garlic bread, margarita pizza and lasagna. Everything was delicious. Really bright and fresh flavors. I’m a really tough critic of Italian food. Outside of Italy, I prefer to cook Italian food at home. Mozza is definitely the new exception. Margarita pizza was probably the most exceptionally good but really everything stood out. The only thing I would advise is to get some sauce on the side with the lasagna.
The ambiance of a place says a lot about the kind of expectations you can have. Mozza has a warm and calm feeling about it when you enter. The host was a bit cold but the waitress was on point and attentive to our needs. The pizza crust was unique and flavorful. I look forward to taking other friends back to try this place in the future.
Mozza's food is fresh, a beautiful taste not found in many restaurants and not to be missed. There isn't a bad dish, their Fennel and Burratta pizzas are awesome and their wine list is incredible.
This restaurant was phenomenal! The pizzas were delicious with great choices and incredible crust. The atmosphere indoors is really nice and while the outdoors section is a bit less nice there was nothing to complain about and ample seating. Definitely try the meatloaves and mushroom pizzas!
I live for Chef's chopped salad. I crave her bread. Her pizza is some of the best, tasting foods I have ever had. I don't care what anyone says, Chef Nancy Silverton is one of my favorite Chefs. She has touch, is delicate, artistic, and innovative with her food. Every time my family comes to dine here it is just splendid. Oui Chef!
Dining at Pizzeria Mozzo, owned by Joe Bastianich of Master Chef fame, my girlfriend and I were enveloped in an atmosphere that marries New York City sophistication with a cozy, inviting vibe. The decor, featuring wine bottles and earth tones, sets a modern yet warm backdrop for an exceptional meal. Our culinary adventure began with a caprese salad, far from the ordinary with its handmade mozzarella—not your typical cut-up logs or balls—presenting a fresh twist that captivated our taste buds. The pizza, boasting buffalo mozzarella and the freshest of tomatoes atop the thinnest imaginable crust from a wood-fired oven, was simply out of this world. The apple pie with gelato dessert perfectly encapsulated the meal’s excellence, balancing the warm pie with cool, creamy gelato for a sublime finish. Pizzeria Mozzo stands out not just for its food but for its dedication to quality and innovation in every dish. With impeccable service rounding out our dining experience, it’s a gem that promises not just a meal, but a memorable culinary journey.
We loved it! Focaccia de recco and caprese salad were perfect appetizers. Octopus was also good. Then we had pizzas, which were good, but paled in comparison two the rest of the meal. Dessert was a high note - that amazing vanilla gelato.
Made special trips up here, from San Diego County. Just to experience "Pizzeria Mozza." Had dinner both times in their parking lot. A pleasant experience BOTH times. Tried the bread. (Try it when warm/just delivered.) It's like magic! It's probably a good thing it's a trek to visit, or I'd weigh 500 lbs! (Can't eat too much bread, ya know!)
Wow. Totally as good as the hype. We have a small child so we came early and the staff were wonderful with him and the food was as amazing as you would expect. We had bruschetta, salad, and a pizza and it was perfect. Next time we will sit at the bar. The whole place had a great atmosphere.
Great service! We had some mess with our reservation and the manager Hendel it quickly and find a table for us!! Food is delicious ! It's definitely the best pizza we ever had!! Was perfect! Thank you.
If I'm not in Napoli, this is the only place I want to eat pizza. My husband and I enjoyed the best pizza I've eaten outside of Italy. Because I'm lactose intolerant, I had a cheeseless pizza - I know, that sounds terrible. It was outstanding - I didn't miss the cheese at all!! Also, I was astonished by the level of service at Pizzeria Mozza. The wait staff and bartenders are extremely professional. My husband and I frequently eat at high-end restaurants and typically enjoy a good meal and excellent service. What surprised me is that when we were leaving, the waiter, bartender, busboy and hostess ALL thanked us for coming!!! I felt like a celebrity. : D I highly recommend this restaurant. BTW, their pizza is phenomenal; and they have a full menu of Italian food that I plan to try soon.
If you looking for pizza in this area look no further. This place is amazing try the breakfast pizza. Staff is incredible. They have a wonderful wine list and I feel inside the restaurant is very cozy and very alive. The energy is always upbeat and happy. this is a great restaurant And a must for any body visiting. They have take out most nights of the week. Enjoy this restaurant we're so glad it is in our city
Another great meal at Mozza. If they have it I definitely recommend the octopus. It's amazing and just melts in your mouth when it's in season. The triccolore salad is a must have for us as well. And of course the pizza, which has that great crunch only a wood fired oven gets. The ice cream and sorbettos are special here as well.
This was my first visit to Pizzeria Mozzarella and just happened to be for my birthday. Quaint, adorable setting with views of the cooks and pizza oven. The bar seating is lovely facing PCH. The outdoor dining section is like a charming outdoor garden feel. I chose the mushroom pizza. The bursts of Italian flavors were extremely satisfying. I can’t wait to go back and try more. The waiters were extremely attentive, friendly, and helpful.
Consistently great pizza, salads, and octopus salad. The prices are high for pizza but worth it - the ingredients are extremely fresh, of excellent quality. The Valet parking is high at $13 for many, but you can park next door and walk 100 feet and save it, if that matters. I shared an excellent bottle of Valpolicella at $55. Their bread, which you usually have to ask for is very flavorful - ask for oil & balsamic vinegar for dipping to got with it - the bread smells wonderful and is fresh off the grille. Our staff were very attentive and when our staff member was busy other staff filled willingly in. We were the last patrons in the restaurant but they gave us the time to leisurely finish our meal and wine.
This place is amazing! During COVID they have turned a parking lot into an outdoor patio dining area. Their menu is limited, as all good places. Mozzarella si buffalo pizza and the butterscotch budino are a MUST! Make sure to make a reservation in advance as it is quite popular. Great service too.
Shoutout to Joshua, he was an awesome guy who welcomed us to the area since we just moved. The barrel aged Negroni is among the best I’ve ever had. The pizza was good, though I’d try something other than the salami next time. I’d skip the meatballs, we didn’t care for them and they’re tiny (especially for $19). The bread appetizer is outstanding. The Nancy salad is HUGE and EXCELLENT (and I don’t love salads). Next time we will try a pasta. The location and decor is kind of dark inside, which tells me the food is awesome. We will be back for sure.
I had an incredible experience at Pizzeria Mozza. We ordered the mushroom pizza was outstanding, the lamb and seafood plate, and this gelato dessert. Everything was well-prepared and incredibly delicious. The customer service was excellent. We were lucky to meet Executive Chef Matthew Mintzias, whose talent truly shined through the dishes. Overall, an unforgettable dining experience! We will definitely be back!
I've wanted to eat here for a while so when we finally visited we tried a little of everything. Parking is nonexistent, so make sure you use the valet (about $8). All of the staff are attentive and kind. They leave you alone but watch to assist with removing plates and refilling your drinks consistently. Everything we ordered was delicious and tasty, including the desserts.
Stopped by here on a weekend night near closing(I think 8/8:30) as that’s the only time they had available for reservation. The had an extensive amount of items from food to wine. We ordered some drinks first then all the other food items. I don’t know if it’s because it was busy and we stopped by near closing but I recommend ordering everything all at once via drinks and food otherwise you are going to be waiting for a LONG time just to even get your order in. The salad was more than enough to share for a table of 4. Margarita pizza was great, the crust on the pizza was quite crispy but also soft and chewy in the middle, a great tasting crush/dough overall. The fennel pizza has huge chunks for sausages that needs to be broken up, especially if you’re trying to share, tasted like a finer sausage pizza. Mushroom pizza had its own creaminess and had a bit of gaminess from the mushrooms but not over the top which I enjoyed, just enough. The lasagna looked burnt on the outside but was quite crisp and had a green/greens infused layers of pasta dough, it was creamy in its own way. You definitely need to order at least 2 to share decent portions split amongst 4 people because it was quite small. The portion of the lasagna was enough for 1 person. All were quite delicious but I’d definitely go for the margarita pizza as with the mushroom one as well. I’d definitely stop by to try some other items that also caught my eye. Decent place to stop by but depending on time of day, get ready to order all your items without pausing or waiting because you might end up waiting for a while just to get in your items.
Came here on a Wednesday night, there is no parking other than valet parking (unless by some miracle you find street parking on the busy street). The staff was really welcoming and attentive, giving enough space as not to be overwhelmed by the staff, yet still tended to. We ordered the meatballs, potato's, sausage pizza, dessert and a cocktail. Everything came in a timely manner, the potato's were salted and herbed to perfection, nice and crispy. I personally don't like meatballs, but these were delicious! The pizza came, nice and hot, with a crispy crust from the wood oven, we let it cool, but still felt the toppings fell off (the sausage was huge chunks just shredded onto the pizza). The dessert was to die for! The toasted Spanish peanuts paired well with the caramel ice cream and caramel sauce! To go with dessert we got the mezcal cocktail, definitely something fun. Overall the ambiance was good, very European feeling, the food was good, next time I'll stick to a simple pizza.
First of all, the food was outstanding. Everything we had was delicious. The Mozza Caprese was actually burrata so it was suggested we get the Pane Bianco with it, which I also highly recommend. The spaghetti cacio e Pepe was delicious as expected. The speck pizza was very good but did not have any base sauce. I’m not sure I’d get it again but if you like the ingredients listed on the pizza, you’ll surely enjoy it. I was surprised at the serving size of the coconut stracciatella and it was delicious. First impressions upon arrival weren’t great. There was a line of cars trying to figure out where to park. There were cars pulling forward and backward trying to make room for valet. McDonald’s and Ferrari lots have no parking available for Mozza so you’re basically left with street parking or valet. Mozza turned their parking lot into outdoor dining so they basically added more seats but removed their parking which obviously stressed the street parking situation even more. I dropped my fiancé at the door while I had to drive down the PCH quite a ways to find street parking. When I made it inside, the waitress was friendly and promptly and asked if I wanted anything besides water. I replied I needed a minute to see the menu but it ended up taking quite a long time for her to return. They sat us in the corner against the wine storage and ended up having to ask my fiancé to move twice so they could get to the wine. The bathroom was a mess. Overflowing garbage with towels all over the floor. Empty tissue box. No soap in the soap dispenser.
Nice place for pizza in Newport Beach. The restaurant is on PCH so Valet parking is convenient. Restaurant has tight seating so if it is busy then feels a bit crammed. The service is good and friendly. Drinks are generally good and wines are good as well. Pizza is well made as are most other dishes. Desserts, in my view, are the weakness here but overall a decent spot for a meal. Went here again. Post pandemic the seating is more spaced out. We sat outdoors and it was very comfortable. The menu has been updated but most of our favorites are still on it! No more bread sticks. Good experience overall and would certainly recommend it.
Sure it's a fancy and romantic place. But come on, $20 for a thin 10 inch pizza with sauce and toppings used sparingly. Not to mention the sauce and toppings only go half way to the edge of the pizza, so it's really like a 6 inch pizza with a 4 inch crust. The flavor is fine but doesn't wow me. The Bianca pizza was delicious with a smart use of fresh sage leaves. The Benno pizza was rather flavorless. Sitting at the counter it appeared that the mushroom pizza looked like it might be good and the sausage pizza looked like it might be good.

Best pizza I’ve had in months. Mozzarella di bufala is perfection. It just took a lot longer than we expected and the waiter suggested we needed to order more food. We did, since the kitchen was closing, but it was completely unnecessary and came out all together so it got cold.
This place was hands down the best pizza in all of orange county. But that was pre pandemic. This last time we went, things were different and not in a good way. The food was just not as good as it use to be. These have been difficult times for restaurants and I hope food returns to the level it once was.
Enjoyed the food but be irritated to wait for it. Seems understaffed astheir service can take a little more time than expected from a restaurant of this caliber. generally the food is very good and I would recommend sitting at the bar to experience the pizza making process.
The focaccia di Recco is pretty similar to the original (I'm from the area in Italy we're they make it and this is pretty good for Italian standards) the pizza was good but too much crust for my liking, but it is their style.
Appetizers were great! Pizzas were delish. Server was amazing. The only reason I'm eating a 4 is the cheese on the pizzas were basically liquid. We just waited a few minutes after it was delivered to let the cheese harden a bit. Otherwise we could have eaten it with a spoon. Will definitely improve my rating next time I come in.
Wasn't expecting the price tag on this pizza jaunt, but it was very good pizza. Arrived about 4:45 pm on a Thursday to a nearly empty restaurant to be confronted with the fact that we might have trouble getting seated due to not having reservations. Thought that there could have been a more welcoming vibe. Food was expensive. Cheapest glass of red wine was $12. No self parking, but valet parking was $7. This restaurant has a very good (wealthy) clientele! Good service, good food, nice atmosphere, interesting and satisfying desserts. Google shows two $$ but that is not right. It's easily $$$.
Honestly just not that great. We got a couple apps and pizzas. We just weren’t impressed. We had high hopes since the sister restaurant is iconic. But if I had a suggestion just spend more money and go to oysteria Mozza. Oh and we love burrata like a drug… whatever burrata dish was on the menu was a MISS.
Wonderful pizza dinner! We had the chopped salad, prosciutto plate, mushroom pizza and sausage pizza. Everything was delicious! Atmosphere was family friendly. Definitely one of my favorite pizza joints now! Only downside is mandatory valet parking for $7.
Well, it's the year of covid, so they were serving outside. In fact, it was actually nice to eat outside. The wait staff did an awesome job. Our waiter did a great job describing various menu items and checked in often. Everyone who helped us was professional and positive. The only reason for 4 stars, and not 5: A. No bone marrow! I loved it last time we ate at Mozza, so was looking forward to it. B. Couldn't sit at the kitchen counter and watch pizzas being made. To be fair, I realize these shortcomings are pretty much beyond the control of Mozza. In fact, I blame them on a certain CA leader responsible for executing his own personal autocracy in 2019. Will be back. Maybe Mozza can always offer outdoor seating after things get back to normal.
Great chopped salad, amazing Cacio e pepe, okay pizza. The tomato sauce was so watery we could have used a spoon. The service was just okay. They brought the entrees before we even finished our appetizers. They didn’t bring us fresh plates for our pizza and were confused when we asked for clean plates. Probably wouldn’t go back.
Great quality food and helpful wait staff. Mozza gives you wood-fired pizzas and other Italian dishes with a bit of a twist. Prepped fresh daily, everything on the menu is worth trying. The place is a bit small, so it's best to get there early or call ahead. Can be a bit pricey but you get a decent quantity and above average quality for your dollar.
Having visited Osteria Mozza in LA, my hopes were that here there would be some element of shared experience on flavor and substance. Overall, it was good, the mark here does land a bit under the targets but l always side with the positive. I had some good bites and my desire was to try out this outpost to see how the Italian flavors would be presented. I’d say if Nancy Silverton were there how different would the overall be regarding flavors. Only this way could a real determination be made.
Nicely decorated restaurant. Even though they are famous for the pizza, I feel there's still room for improvement. Three good things about Mozza: excellent bar service, good quality/right amount of pizza topping (ingredients), awesome meat balls. Three not so good things about Mozza: reservation over the phone (not so friendly), cold reception at the restaurant, pizza dough a bit too hard on the rim (maybe oven temperature or dough levitation time need to be fine tuned?).

Amazing customer service, amazing bread. My table ordered 6 pizzas and 1 pasta and none of us were super impressed with our dishes. The food is not really worth the price, but the customer service was terrific so I do recommend it if you are looking to book for a great experience.
Good pizzas but way too expensive for this. I'm not ready to pay more than 20 dollars for an average pizza, the ingredients are traditional, nothing fancy like truffles or whatever. Also cocktails are good but once again way too expensive for the quality (14 dollars)
I'm actually disappointed with this upscale pizzeria establishment. The only reason why it's getting 3 stars is due to excellent service and ambiance. The food was only marginally good. If you are looking to be wowed by simply fantastic pizza...I'd say try somewhere else. We ordered a pizza margarita and we were underwhelmed with it; we couldn't understand why it wasn't good. Their bruschette selection sounded interesting...in fact, we even ventured out and tried the butternut squash with bitter greens, bacon and parmigiano...but the creative combination didn't leave a fantastic finish. Ok, maybe I'm really picky about my pizza but this place made me feel like we were overcharged for just _okay_ pizza.
It was ok. I've been to pizzeria mozza in LA and it was much better. The pizza crust was good but I expected the same excellent crust as in the LA location. Park on the street ahead of time. There is parking next to the restaurant but it's only valet for 10$.
Years ago, going to Mozza would've been a treat. Not anymore. Food is on-par at best. Skip the pizza. Nothing like what I experienced at Pizzeria Mozza. I wonder if the restaurants were sold to a big holding company?
Holy wow, the pizza here is good! I do wish that they’d poke out the edges of the pizza before putting it in the oven so it doesn’t bubble up as much and push the ingredients to the center, but the taste is great! I’m giving 3 stars though for a couple reasons. We ordered drinks at the bar before ordering food. I had ordered a cocktail off the menu and the bartender had mentioned they were out of a certain alcohol that came in that drink, which I didn’t like, so I just asked if I could have the cocktail I ordered with that alcohol (I would have ordered it that way any way, but she had interrupted) and then looked annoyed that I was okay with them being out of it and just making it without one of the ingredients. The other reason is, I’m sure everyone who orders pizza to go, assumes that the pizza will stay horizontal during the packaging and during transport. A pizza does not need to be put in a bag, but someone who was preparing to go orders had not only used a bag that wasn’t necessary to use, but then put the pizza in the bag vertically and then put other items in the bag against the horizontal pizza. These 10” pizzas are not cheap (but they are worth the price) and I would be pretty upset picking up my pizza and seeing it in a bag horizontally.
For the price, the food is just okay. It's not bad but don't go out of your way to pay $25 for a personal pizza that isn't stupendous. The other food items on the menu were surprisingly fair with the lasagna not edible (burnt).
The pizza is good, although it doesn’t have the traditional crust. The lasagna was terrible. It had spinach pasta into it (which made it taste bitter) and it was way overcooked and dry. My mom had a chicken and that was the best we tried.
We loved our cocktails! And their location in the Hollywood area has some of the best food in greater LA. But this location did not live up to the same hype/level for the starters and our pizza + meatballs. Ambiance and service were still exceptional. But the same quality and taste in used to close to home just wasn’t present here in any dish we had. And between my family members and I, we tried 5 different dishes. The Nancy’s chopped salad was good, as was the roast chicken. Meatballs and pizza were awful. It made me so sad!! I’ll still to the Hollywood location near my home from now on. I was also pretty surprised in a health-conscious place like Southern California that there was no gluten free pasta option!
I was very 😊 to come eat some pizza and the only things that I loved was the fresno chilis and the salami and its outer crust texture. but the pizza sauce was running and made every slice soggy causing the cheese and toppings to stay on the pizza tray. I have had several dine-in pizza experiences and I have had many experiences that the pizza is not soggy at all. But from being excited to not so excited makes me wonder why I was suckered to believe that this is the best of the best pizza place. the customer service was quite bad. the parking situation is embarrassing charging visitors $7 to park. And the waiter never came back to refill the water pitcher after I asked for some more. All I took from this place is the impression of good thick salami slices, nicely made fresno hot chilis, and outside crust being crunchy and have a sourdough bread texture to it, but nothing really to make me excited again and to brag about.
Way too much garlic, my mouth is still on fire an hour later.... Pizza beside the garlic was edible but not good. Thought our dinner was worth at most $15 but cost almost $40.... Waiter was attentive but it took over an hour to get our food. I didn't like the menu, half in Italian & half english. It was confusing and overwhelming. I will not be going back!
The seating was craziness! The pricing was VERY HIGH. Food was interesting and good but not exceptional and definitely not for the persona this place puts on. Menu was unclear, items I mentioned they said ok but then were not was I was talking about. We had no waiter at first then one said they would take us...thanks. Almost as if we showed up to a dinner party uninvited. Just not our kind of place
The highs: The food is gooood. What you'd expect from a pricey Italian restaurant. The Neapolitan pizzas were great - especially the crust. You have the option to customize so feel free to add some juicy meatballs to your Margarita. The appetizers were also convincing - grilled cauliflower, burrata, or olive oil bread. Very tasty. The lows: Very disappointing though that they charge for EVERYTHING. The olive oil bread is free at most Italian restaurants, here it costs $5. And even parking - upon entering the empty (!) parking lot a guy approached us and said it's valet only, and it will cost $7. Wait what? The parking lot is empty?! We then parked at the neighboring lot at McDonald's... just as a tip.
Had RSVPs & we told them that we were celebrating our birthdays; they had given others tables a slice to cake to celebrate but they did not do that to us. Boo... -1 They put us in a boring spot so we requested to be moved to the bar area to watch the guys make the pizzas. Our waiter was so inattentive to our needs & kept pushing us to order the more expensive pizza instead of recommending what would taste good. -2 The bus boy was helping us more with the condiments & drinks that we needed rather than the waiter. Boo on the waiter service here.. =( Funghi misti, fontina, taleggio & thyme - delicious, cheese was perfect & the crust was so crunchy & yummy that we requested pizza sauce to dip it in. =) Each time I took a bite, it was even more delicious. I love the layers of different cheeses made it taste awesome on this pizza. =) Margherita with mozzarella, tomato & basil - Yummy but was a bit soggy in the middle of the pizza. This had a very simple tomato taste to it but was still good. =) 2 pizzas between 2 people was more than enough to fill us up. =) Food: A - Service: D Decor: B+ (had a warm Napa style to it) Ambiance: B Overall, this place is a bit over hyped; probably since it's in the Newport Beach area. They really need to work on their customer service here...its sad when a restaurant's food's good but the service is just horrible. This just kills the whole experience here. I won't be coming back because I'd rather spend my hard earned $$ at a place with better service & better pizzas (like a mom & pop place) =)
I had the tre-colore salad which was without any complaint. Great dressing, fresh greens, very sizeable. Then I got ham with old Parmiggiano for 40+US. The ham was more fat than meet, without any taste and with slizes cut so thick that it was just not enjoyable to eat. This course was a no-go even more as there was almost no cheese. The Pizza, which I always enjoyed at the Beverly Hills Mozza comes not even close. The bottom was soaked and soft, the outside way too dense, not well fermented dough and with no taste. This was one of the worst Pizzas I had in many months. Beverly Hills again, Newport Beach never again.
I had been at their LA location and the food was great. I expected the same quality in Newport. The location is very nice, service professional although slow for a Monday evening. Prosecco was below budget quality. We ordered olives , ok, although swimming in oil. We ordered some plain bread to accompany the olives and we got what looked like fried bread oozing oil. The pizza was a personal size (probably 10”), crust more burnt than average, and condiment was scant.
I ordered pickup, a pizza & beet salad. The beet salad had maybe a tablespoon of yogurt a few crumbles of feta and barely a single beet cut up for about $18. Pizza was tiny, skimpy amount of topping, floppy mushy with lots of crust which was crunchy, for approximately $28. Very disappointing
Clueless wait staff, didn't even know the origins of their house wine or contents of premade cocktails, yes premade. Pizza was barely acceptable with a chewy but thick crust. Toppings were good though. While famed, this is a prime candidate to go back to square one for a restart.
The first time I went here I thought this place was really good. That was a few yrs ago. This place went downhill big time after Covid. I went there last night and the food quality was so much lower than my first experience. I normally don't want to complain about price but for what we were served we paid way too much. $26 for a mini pizza that had like 3" of mediocre crust. The pasta tasted like it was from a box and not fresh. It was almost offensive. Poor quality food that gives the impression that the restaurant is pinching pennies. I doubt the doors will stay open for much longer if they don't put a little more love into there food. $150 meal should be better than this.
Went to this place for lunch. Apparently, I was the first person to be there. Two waiters were working and they were not attentive and slow serving. Ordersed the octopus, pizza, and pasta. The octopus was overcooked and pizza waa soggy as it was not served immediately ans left on the counter fir a while. Did not enjoy thd food and the service. Been to the Mozza place in LA and I liked it there overall.
I was super hopeful, this place came highly recommended. But I wasn't a fan. We ordered the meatballs. The sauce was good but meatballs themselves were tough and cold. The smashed rosemary potatoes were hot and delicious. The pizza was the bacon pizza and it was okay. I didn't like the meat on this pizza even though the crust was cooked and good. The meat just tasted uncooked. Got the gelato trip. Mango coconut stracchiatelli and spicy chocolate were all delicious. Some things to note. The overall prices range $6-$10 more per item than some place say like North Italia. ( Granted that's a chain but they are consistently good) $19 meatballs $34 pizza that is personal size. Additional note. There is no parking. So you have to valet. And they charge $11 to valet. If you set up shop and force people to valet, I am not sure you should charge for valet. Anyway I am not interested in returning. Our server was okay. He just didn't know how to read our conversation and table vibe and either interrupted or was no place to be found. To be honest, I am an easy to please person, super grateful, though there were some good things as stated but sadly this experience as a whole was a let down.
We ordered the octopus Al forno, tagliatelle and the bacon pizze. The octopus was good, nicely seared. Tagliatelle was so awfully salty we sent it back. The second round, the pasta came severely over cooked. Truly disappointing as we came all the way to this part to have nice pasta which we knew was usually good in the other branches. And even more disappointing to know the executive chef Matthew Mintzias was on tonight.

Good food! My 3 year old daughter ordered pasta with butter! She got a kids size portion of just that! (tiny portion, my daughter was still hungry after finishing the whole thing). We were very surprised to see the check - her dish was the most expensive - 19$! I asked the waiter if they made a misstake. No, no misstake. 'We charge the same as any regular pasta'. Interesting policy - give a tiny kids portion at regular price without any sauce or anything. Never again!
We just had a delicious dinner here, but we'll never come back. Why? Their valet behaved as rudely as I have ever experienced. When we arrived, we paid the attendant and he told us to simply park the car in the lot and keep our keys. When we finished dinner and went to the lot, another valet on duty scolded us for keeping our keys, telling us that we "messed up the lot". When I told her that we were simply following her colleague's directions, she accused me of drinking (I don't), and proceeded to escalate the matter. And then, when I went back in to alert the front desk about the issue, the hostess kindly listened to this completely ridiculous story, then offered to give me the valet company's information so I could complain to them. No. Mozza, you've employed this company to serve your customers. It's your problem if they're chasing away business. As for the valet: Don't want to deal with my car in your lot? Good for you, you'll never have to again!
We had heard great things about this place, and specifically wanted to go there on our way to LAX to get their capers and anchovy pizza. I was with my wife my son my daughter-in-law and my 20 month old grandson. First, we were greeted by a valet only parking for seven bucks. Once we entered the restaurant, we were seated at a table in between the restroom in the kitchen, even though there were plenty of open tables. The menu was, at best, pedestrian, and they announced they no longer carry the anchovy and caper Pizza even though it is still on their advertisement. By the time we got two small pizzas, the only size they serve, which had burnt crust and little toppings, a mediocre salad a very small appetizer and one beer for my son, they handed us a bill for $145! So, with $20 tip for the server who was passable and $10 for the valet, we walked out of this place for $175 for two pizzas and a salad. Little Caesars has vastly Superior Pizza to this place. We will never be back, and you should watch out too.
I ordered Pasta. The food was so salty, it was hard to eat There was under cooked pasta, with cheese and I asked to add mushroom. The mushroom was dry, hard and slaty. It was honestly most unpleasant experiment. My daughter ordered pizza and she liked her pizza and ranked it 7 out of 10.
I consider myself a very fair and honest reviewer so I will tell it like it is. Fortunately my husband decided not to pay $13 for valet and we walked 5 minutes to get to and from the car because we didn't stay all that long. The room is quite nice with high ceilings and a lively vibe, unfortunately we were seated right beside the kitchen entrance so we had a stream of staff flying by constantly. That was not the main issue, our waiter was not knowledgeable, friendly or pleasant. My husband ordered a pizza app and we ordered pasta for the main. It took 30 minutes for a 90sec pizza to show up. He enjoyed it,however the pasta was...Yuck, there is actually too much to say about this but I will tell you that they were not eaten and returned. A return to this restaurant is unlikely.
