Foods were lovely but it’s a bit noisy. There are many tables compare to the space. Staffs were kind and nice but there seemed to be a lack of communication between staffs (or problems in the system). I needed to say several times that I already ordered whenever the different staffs came and asked.
First time means everything. Smile Italian speaking welcoming a new guest no matter single but eat for 2. Today is the first time and will be a regular guest for sure. Scampi King Prawns perfect. I love Chianti, but they proposed Sardinian vine... Tiramisu is 99% one of the best that I tried in my life al over the world, including Italy, of course... Small entrance but bigger garden will fave you nice time enjoy gladly raccomending. Bond James Bond
It took me nearly a decade to finally make it to Da Vinci—believe it or not! Every time I planned to go, something always came up. But tonight, I got to enjoy it with my friend and boyfriend, and it was worth the wait. The antipasti had an authentic feel, my gnocchi was perfectly done, and I loved seeing Sardinian seadas on the dessert menu—I don’t think you can find that anywhere else in Groningen. Recommended, I’ll be back to try the pizzas.
Absolutely amazing place in Groningen. Food was delicious and the staff was friendly. As someone who lived in the Mediterranean area, this is a nice, cozy place to visit if you miss it. We will be back! :)
Very cozy spot with super friendly staff. I've ordered carpaccio for appetizer and it was the best one I've ever had, the meat was melting in my mouth. Got a pizza for main and it was very fresh and generously topped. Will definitely come back!
A gem of a restaurant. Truly belisima! Having been before I booked myself and my girlfriend a table, and had a thoroughly lovely evening from start to finish. Service was friendly and charming, and there's a good opportunity to try any Italian you know! Prompt as well, and the place wasn't exactly empty, either, so others clearly know how good the food is. Starters were simple and delicious- perhaps overly simple, but still gorgeous. Main was generous and utterly brilliant. Rustic, clear, Italian mastery. Wine selection is good, and though limited by the glass, the basic stuff (bar the unnamed stuff) is lovely. What more can I say? Good atmosphere, lovely staff, oh, and very reasonable prices! You don't need to save up for this place. Wonderful!
Was just walking pass my bf and I craved pizza and we were not disappointed. For me the tiramisu was amazing and the service was super friendly. Very recommended. Very good vibes. 🥹✨💕😌🤙🏽
Best Italian food (Sardinian) in the Netherlands so far... I loved the details and how well managed the service was. We came specially to spend the weekend in Groningen and have a dinner at this Osteria. All efforts were worth it. Incredible antipasti, beef and seafood pasta. Fabulous wines, grappa (Filu 'e ferru) and outstanding coffee with Sambuca (caffè corretto). Thanks!!!
Loved the authentic and casual atmosphere at the restaurant. From pizza, pasta, limoncello cake to tiramisu, it was all delicious. Would definitely recommend DaVinci to anyone looking for quality Italian cuisine in Groningen.
Great food and very friendly staff. Fish, pasta, pizza, it doesn't matter: all of it is delicious!
Delicious food excellent service thank you so much I will be back again soon, highly recommend this restaurant
Excellente place, menu very rich and creative. Doesn't contains only pasta and pizza but also some Italian references. Anti-pasti was excellent (avocado with shrimps). Pizza are back big and tasty, pasta / raviolis cook nicely. Very popular and reservation can be a good idea. We went after decision last minute and the place was already full (19:00). If you are seated in the patio room, under the 'vignes' and grappes ... It is perfect. Highly recommended
Delicious food and the stuffs are all very friendly! :)
The truffle ravioli... so gooood!
Delicious food, the people are nice. I'll be back!
After a long day I came here half an hour before closing. The friendly employees still served us incredibly tasty pizzas. will be returning here for sure!
Most importantly of all, the food was amazing. Our waiter was lovely and very helpful. The atmosphere in the restaurant was very gezellig too. Will definitely be going again.
Nice place, food is good, prices are decent (a bit above average). A few detailed could be improved, especially the doors ;)
Amazing Italian food. Super delicious!!! Great meat and fish dishes but also for me as a vegetarian lots of options to choose from. I need to come back just to try more of these amazing dishes! You've got us hooked! 😃
Located on one of the canals that surround the delightful city of Groningen, Da Vinci offers the opportunity to taste the authentic Italian flavours, with a special note of Sardinia. The restaurant is warm; in addition to a few rooms with tables, it has a nice small cloister too. Go for a pasta (there are dozens of choices in the menu), a glass of wine and you won't regret it. And, why not, a tiramisu as a dessert.
Definitely always a wonderful experience here. Amazingly rich-flavoured food, dito wines, at quite reasonable prices. I've visited them at various occasions, and whether it was pastas, pizzas or any typical Sicilian dish, it all went down my throat and tingled my palate as if the grand master himself reached out his brush strokes and decorated my intestines in flavourful colours. Not sure if I fully appreciate The Last Supper hanging over one of the dining tables, but what would Da Vinci be without it...?
A true Italian experience, atm I'm working there as waiter. During one of my free says I decided to go there to eat as a costumer. As costumer I'm writing this comment. The atmosphere is amazing, tables and lights that remember the atmosphere of an Italian Osteria. On the walls you can see real old pictures (relatives of the owner) showing parts of the daily life in Sardinia several years ago. The inside terrace is also really nice and cozy. I can't talk about the staff because I'm part of it. But personally I think we do a good job, surely we do our best. When I came to eat I orded some starters, like "Pepata di cozze e vongole" and "Calamari arrosto ripieni". Both spectacular, especially the Calamari (Squid). As main corse I've eaten "Costolette in Crosta" and amazing plate of crispy lamb that I normally suggest to anyone. In conclusion I'd like to spend a word for the wine. I tasted all of them, and I can proudly say they are all high quality, all imported from Sardinia. I would strongly recommend this restaurant to anybody we'll be enough patient to read all this comment
Best Restaurant in town!! Amazing food (huge pizzas) & super friendly staff. This time, we took the 3-course dinner, which was absolutely over the top! Big thank you to the Da Vinci restaurant. Highly recommend & we will always come back!
The food is delicious. Got a mixed appetizer and a pasta dish, all fresh and tasty. Careful and extremely accommodating service. Thanks for the nice dinner!
One of my favorite Italian restaurants in Groningen, the place is cozy, the food is tasty and I think the prices are ok for being in the Netherlands. Surely if you want a good pizza, in Groningen you could give it a try!
A true Italian restaurant, friendly service and delicious food!
what can I say? Great place! tasty and very kind waitresses and waiters. Drinks are well prepared, nothing to say about it. You will have a very pleasant experience.
Absolutely amazing food. In the Netherlands, there's always that risk that the food has been Dutchified, which makes it taste watery, bland and horrid. Not here! The food is AMAZINGLY flavoured, with actual layers and complexity to the flavours and textures. Best bruschetta I've had so far. Even the desserts were authentic and delicious. The servers are all so kind, efficient, and I love the "buonasera" and "prego" you often hear :). I wanted a birthday thing and they put a sparkler in my boyfriend's tiramisu, keeping everything discreet. Definitely coming back!
We have eaten here 5 times and the ingredients are imported from Italy and the food is authentic and fantastic. We came at 10.20 pm and Lisa and the team was kind enough to still serve us food. Everyone is friendly, respectful, smiling and the restaurant is spotless clean and reasonably priced. Well done team. Bravo!
A great restaurant which I hadn't seen before, but was told to try owing to how inviting it looks inside abs the food reviews. We chose a night where my partners parents from Italy were here. Great atmosphere, all if not most of the staff spoke italian which made them feel comfortable as they don't speak English or Dutch. The food was excellent, the pizza was good but not traditional neopolitan style but very tasty - my 3 year old loved it. I had lemon pasta which was very good. For dessert tiramisu which was delicious. The beer was good, we had sardinian bottles beer (which is a big bottle) but see they had brand on draught as well as 1 or 2 more. We will definitely return a the menu is big so we won't be eating the same things every time.
The best Italian pizza in Groningen. The quality is really good! Highly recommended. If you are into pizza, try Diavola or 4 Cheeses here.
Amazing pasta, very well seasoned and adequate quantities. High quality food and superb service!
This restaurant was a really good surprise. The food was great and authentic, the service fine and everyone was Italian in the restaurant. We sat in the cover courtyard which was quitter than the front part Restaurant is not in the center but not too far from it. We had a nice and relax evening. Price was around 85 for 3 persons...not cheap but in zccodance with the quailty
What a little gem. Excellent service good and atmosphere. Definitely a must to visit. Booking advised
Osteria Da Vinci truly is a gem in Groningen. I would highly recommend it to anyone seeking an unforgettable dining experience. From the friendly service to the delicious food, it has always been a number one spot for me. One of the best, if not then the best, restaurant to visit! Thank you for all the great memories!
The best place in Groningen, period. I come here already for more than 20 years and this place is better than ever. Best Italian food outside Italy I ever had. Attention to detail, all perfect. Great wines. Lively, chatty atmosphere.
Had a lovely dinner here tonight. Even though it was really busy, the service was 10/10. The food didnt take too long and it was really good. Our waiter, Patrick, was incredible. He made sure we got everything we needed. Would definitely come back here!
Nice and cozy place, needs reservations. It gets full since the opening. The Andean lady at the entrance was not friendly at all. She needs to remember she is the front line and the first impression. Food is really good. Wine house is okay. Tiramisu was delicious.
Ambiance, ok. Staff, friendly, fun & deserve the fifth star. Pizza, great & very tasty. Not a great fan of the kitchen tables & chairs outside, but ok... !
Good Italian food, service was great and calm atmosphere. Had the gnocchi with pesto and shrimp and it was delicious.
Cozy place with a fireplace (if you sit in the back of the restaurant) 🔥 The pastas are very tasty 🍝
Both the lasagna and the pizza are good and the staff are very friendly.
Ordered Pasta tartuffo = got very tiny amount of pasta with almost no mushroom at all in it. Taste was fine but it is very overpriced given the amount of pasta and ingredients in it… Otherwise staff is kind and atmosphere is nice.
Food was okay. Service could have been more welcoming. Personally I found that the Sicilian steak was very under seasoned and came out quite bland. The pizza was OK. Our initial server who seated us was quite unwelcoming and seemed irritated/on edge, although the restaurant was not busy. However, our second server was very kind. A bit disappointed overall and I do not think I will be returning.
they don't know when to stop taking orders. i thought because i could only order a couple of hours in advance, instead of any time, that it was just busy, but that they had it under control, since they weren't taking orders for the next couple of hours, only for after that time. i paid 27,50 for a pizza (and extra's so i could order 1 pizza for myself) that started of delicious, but it turned out the rest was full of bone and raw aubergine. i had to throw away a lot of the toppings. they just rushed it out i guess. i don't know what's up with the amount of bone in that bacon either. i've ordered here about four times now and i think only once did it satisfy the expectations i got from people who actually dined here. this is over the last three years. i don't think delivery is working out for you guys, you need to manage your order amount, cause you're taking too many of them and you can't provide the quality you're known for.
Food was nice but waited near an hour for 2 pizzas and a pasta
I rarely write public reviews, but on this occasion, I feel compelled to share my experience. I had fond memories of this restaurant from a visit over a year ago, where I enjoyed a decent plate of pasta, and I had heard good things about it from others. However, after a previous incident involving a misunderstanding and a disappointing interaction with the owner, a significant portion of our community had boycotted the restaurant for over a year. Wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt—we are all human and can have bad days—we decided to book a celebratory dinner for a large group, hoping for a better experience this time around. Unfortunately, the evening did not go as we hoped. We had a fixed menu for our group and informed the restaurant ahead of time about the number of attendees. However, due to a last-minute emergency, one person could not join us. When we arrived, we informed the staff about the change and asked if this would be acceptable, fully aware of their policy requiring notice by 2 PM. The waiter, though visibly displeased, assured us it was "okay," and we proceeded with the dinner, optimistic that we would have a pleasant evening. Regrettably, the food was underwhelming. While the aubergine and the small sampling of pumpkin tortellini were enjoyable, the portions were shockingly small—reminiscent of tasting menus rather than a celebratory feast. Service was slow, and as we waited, we mistakenly assumed that more substantial dishes were on their way. To our surprise, the next course turned out to be tiny cups of sorbet, signaling the end of the meal. Among our group were several Italians and individuals familiar with Italian cuisine, and the general consensus was confusion and disappointment. Some even began discussing plans to visit a nearby kebab shop afterward to fill up. When the bill arrived, we noticed we had been charged for the absent guest. Upon questioning this, the waiter responded, "I said it is okay; I didn’t say we wouldn’t charge you." The absurdity of this statement left us astounded. When we pointed out that the amount of food served was already insufficient for the people present, let alone an additional “ghost guest,” the waiter reluctantly removed the extra charge. While this was the right thing to do, the overall handling of the situation was far from professional or accommodating. It’s a shame, as this restaurant has the potential to be a great dining spot. However, both the quality and quantity of food, as well as the communication and attitude of the staff, need significant improvement. I can understand enforcing policies on last-minute cancellations, but such rules must be communicated clearly and respectfully at the time—not presented in a misleading manner that leads to unnecessary conflict. For anyone seeking an enjoyable Italian dining experience in Groningen, I recommend Tarante, where the food is reliably good, and the staff are welcoming and professional. As for this restaurant, while we won’t be returning, I sincerely hope they reflect on this feedback and consider changes to enhance the experience for future diners.
Went to the restaurant for a celebratory dinner. Had a fixed menu that sounded very appealing. Unfortunately, this wan not the case. Putting apart the very slow and quite rude service, after a few small bites to share, some of which somewhat pleasant, all of us were waiting for the big star dish of the dinner. Nonetheless, this did not happen and after a these few appetizers the dessert came, very small lemon sorbet. The bill per was very high and did not in any way reflect the quantity of food eaten, and not at all the range indicated in Google. afterwards, some of us seriously considered going for kebab and I personally had more food at home in order to be full. Do not recommend.
I have been to this place couple of times and it wasn’t bad, however just now I got home from the worst dinner I’ve ever had. They served me prosciutto pizza. First of all the slices were extremely thick and the prosciutto was inedible. Second, when I tried saying something about it I was ignored. Wouldn’t recommend, because of the lack of help in this situation. They will just serve you bad food and leave you deal with it.
The starter we had (aubergine) was extremely tasteless and wet, the salmon pizza was too salty, and the pasta with lamb rague was bolognese. Even the red wine came in white wine glasses. If you want this quality food, go to happy italy, you just pay 25euros less.
