Well, my wify and I have one of our official dates here in 2019, I was traveling for work and was hanging out with my co-worker. She pick the place and just took me there. The place is really classic, romantic, really contemporanious. The service is impeccable 👌, the server and manager were always there and really respectull and friendly. The food is just a blast, my wife got the duck and I got the steak, they were both delicious, we also get the fries wirh gravy and tasty! Important note: they dont have beer, lol, but a red wine always goes good with a steak. Even if I'm a beer lover I do recommend visiting this place 100%

We had an amazing dinner last night to celebrate my girlfriends' birthday! The food was delicious, but what really made the experience stand out was the exceptional service from our server, Ben. His attentiveness, friendliness, and care made the evening truly memorable. Highly recommend this place for a special occasion or just a great meal!

Let me start by saying food and drinks were impeccable. Sam, Jada, and Ben waited on us and chatted with us while we ate. The food was top notch, the drinks were innovative and fairly priced. The staff alone would have been reason enough to come back. Look at the pictures of the food. This restaurant will definitely be added to the rotation that me and my wife go to. If you've never tried it, do yourself a favor and go. it's a bit of a smaller dining room so I'd recommend reservations.

Went for a Valentine’s dinner with my wife, had a great experience. We had reservations that we were early for, so we had to wait as they were busy. We were seated at our reservation time and our waitress was also the bartender. Loved the non alcoholic choices and specials. We had prosciutto wrapped asparagus, split a large salad, and had the duck and ribeye entree. We took home tiramisu (no picture). Everything was delicious and service was great despite the busy evening.

I love coming here for special occasions and date nights! They have an amazing array of drinks, both non alcoholic and cocktails. Their pork belly is divine.

One of the best rib eyes in Western Mass! We love Caminito’s. The outside patio is very nice and the inside is very warm and cozy. Friendly staff, great wine, and delicious menu. The shrimp skewers are full of flavor, the salads are extremely fresh and tasty, and the steaks are beyond delicious. Can’t say enough great things about Caminito’s and the staff here. Don’t miss the dessert menu either! Make reservations as it fills up fast here.

So so good! Started with an amazing duck Ceasar salad and a charcuterie board. Then main course we both ordered the rib eye. Amazing food and quaint atmosphere!

Was passing through after traveling for three days for our anniversary. A friend said Northampton had interesting places to eat. We chose here because-steak. Figured we would treat ourselves. I walked in feeling a little underdressed (i was traveling and in sweatpants). We were asked if we had reservations and I thought I might be embarrassed. Nope. Lady with a genuine smile said to hang on a sec. A guy came out and seated us. They were somewhat busy, but our server was right there. He is either a great actor or he genuiny enjoyed his job. I love seeing this because I prefer establishments that help their employees feel this way. He was helpful, knowledgeable, quick. We still had a lot of driving so chose not to imbibe. We asked for sparkling water and were brought a nice big bottle to share. I was a tad worried about the price, but I'll get to that in a minute. My husband and I settled on the 18oz ribeye with veal demi glaze. Our server made certain we would get exactly what we wanted, offering suggestions. And man he was spot on! The price for this plate was less than I've had for smaller portions at lesser restaurants. Everything was fabulous!! The steak takes a bit longer due to cooking method, as it states on the menu. But it is worth the extra few minutes. My vegetables were lightly grilled and amazng dipped in the demi glaze. I meeded a box. There is no way I could finish. Plus I wanted to save room for dessert. We ordered half pot french press coffee and a slice of cheesecake. The coffee was more than enough for us to each have about 2 cups-perfext. The cheesecake was dense-which is good. Too often it is lighter. The berry and caramel sauces were perfect with it. I joked that I was going to ask for more of the sauces to bring home! Then our bill came. I had to double check that the prices were correct and that everything was listed. It was. And was still less than when my husband orders pizza. And I mean these steaks would have fed about as many people, too. Nothing was "expensive" for what it was. Everything was fairly priced and well worth it. I live 500 miles away and was seriously only passing through, but I do believe I will make it a point to go back should we make a similar drive. I cannot for the life of me remember our server's name. But our server, the hostess and the gentleman who checked on us treated us very well. This is rather importsnt to me. Earlier in the day, we walked into a place not nearly as nice and were ignored, so we left. We had been driving all day, and I was in sweatpants and a tee shirt and looked like Id been in the car all day. We had no intent to stop for a celebratory meal. We just wanted some decent food before the last leg of our trip home. But it turned into one. It felt like just us were there, and like we were our server's main focus even though they were somewhat busy and our server was tending a fair amount of tables. He seemed to make all of his tables feel this way.

This is one of my favorite restaurants in Northampton. They have a large selection of wine. My favorite entree is the blackberry glazed pork belly with brussel sprouts and butternut squash. Great service too!

This place has the best Filet I've ever had. I've had a lot. They also had a roasted cauliflower soup on special that was out of this world! I all but licked the bowl clean and tried to recreate it at home the next day.

This place had a very mysterious atmosphere, the people here were friendly and the food was very good quality. The creamed Spinach was very tasty

It has been 27 years since I was last here. I miss the old Argentinian decor. However, the service was great and the food was excellent. It reminded me of my mother's cooking. We are both from Argentina.

In my opinion, it is the best steak I had in the valley. I had the sirloin and it was immaculate. This is my third time here.

Amazing service and wonderful food. The steak had excellent flavor and the drinks were top notch. The service was impeccable too. We’re visiting from out of state and this was a wonderful addition to our trip.,

We went there last night, a group of five friends, and holy moly, what a fantastic restaurant! The food was delicious, the atmosphere was phenomenal, and the waitress was superb. We even got to talk with the owners, and I can't say enough good things about this place. If you're in Northampton and you like phenomenal steak, come here. They even dry-aged their steaks, so take advantage of that. . .and they have great wines.

V

Enjoyed our dinner outside in one of their snow globes. The bread appetizer was tasty and the three of us each ordered a different steak entree (filet, rib eye, tips), all of which were delicious. The service was excellent - the food took a long time but we didn’t even notice because we were enjoying our wine/bread and the waiter and manager were so friendly. They even sent us home with a dessert for free as a kind “sorry” gesture. Can’t wait to return!

This is our “special” place. Brian and staff are terrific! The best food and great wine. Enjoy! January 2025 Update: we had a lovely dinner there last night. Ben waited on us and was wonderful! Always good to see Brian! Thank you!

Wonderful ambience and atmosphere, Small location but we were able to get reservations without a problem. Food was perfect and the service was amazing the drinks were so great. We will be back when we have a little more time to stay and have desserts.

Wonderful food and atmosphere! The wine selection is great, and the menu is big enough to give you choice, but small enough to not be overwhelming. I love the weekend live music. Everything on the menu is delicious, and the staff is superb- friendly and knowledgeable in a genuine way. Honestly, you couldn't ask for a better place to have a special occasion- or maybe just a treat!

I have only had great food here! Chorizo in a blanket it my favorite appetizer, it’s so good that I get it every time. When I am unsure of what to get for an entree I ask Kevin who gives great explanations and suggestions. He is so nice and knowledgeable and has never steered me wrong. The steaks are always cooked exactly as ordered and the sides and sauces are delicious. I love the creamed spinach which is such a steak house staple but hard to find around here. Between the food, service and cozy atmosphere you can’t go wrong

My husband and I dined here last night and had a great experience. We have been here a couple times before and always come back for the Gorgonzola steak. This time we ordered the chorizo in a blanket and fried cauliflower for appetizer. Both came with delicious sauces. I ordered a cucumber cranberry cosmo per the waiter Kevin’s recommendation and my husband ordered his standard old fashioned. They were able to substitute the walnut bitters to accommodate his nut allergy. Both drinks delicious, we each had 2 which is not the standard for us (light drinkers). Our steaks were cooked perfectly and the sides of mashed potato confit and glazed carrots paired perfectly. Honestly the carrots were my favorite part, and this is coming from a carb and sugar enthusiast lol! We shared a tiramisu for dessert and Kevin provided us a complementary glass of vermouth to pair with dessert. Wonderful pairing and highly recommend! Kevin was conversational, educated on the menu/ingredients/preparations and he really added to our experience. The small gripes is the creepy artwork all over the place…looks like the devil in at least 2 of them. I don’t get it. And I think it’s a new(er?) owner since the last time we were here so the Gorgonzola steak was a little different (still delicious) and they got rid of the creme brulee which was the best around. We will still be back!

I'm just in the area for a couple of months for work. I wanted to find a place with a good steak. I found it in Caminito Steakhouse. Classic New England ambiance with a well stocked bar and lovely bartender. I have been here twice already, and had had two excellent meals with excellent service. I'm always willing to pay for a good steak, and the age steaks here are worth the price. I hope to get back a couple of more times before I leave the area. I only wish there was a place like this where I live.

Great steaks! The wood fired char on the steaks make for a great taste. Perfectly cooked and the cast iron skillet carrots were delicious. Small quaint place so definitely make reservations. We'll definitely be going back.

What a beautiful experience. The wine selection was perfectly paired. The steak tips and vegetable skewers were so yummy I took some home. When I reheated, it was as good as the original meal. My husband says that is because of how well it was treated in preparing it and it's freshness. Spring for the bottles water. It was so pleasing I ordered a second.

Caminito Steakhouse provided my spouse and I with a pleasant evening of friendly, energetic service, local atmosphere, and a varied menu. Our waiter, Ben, was welcoming, attentive, and responsive throughout the entire visit. We skipped appetizers, to maintain a sharp edge on our appetites, but had Ben pour the Cabernet and Malbec early to whet that hunger. I ordered Sirloin Gorgonzola, and my spouse chose Rib Eye. As our steaks experienced Caminito flames, we relaxed, sipped our excellent vintages, and watched the room gradually fill with other patrons and grow alive with the warm hum of gregarious conversation. (The Halloween skeleton did not participate, seated alone with an empty glass and a toothy grin. LOL) Ben arrived with our plates (both steaks wood-fire grilled to medium) and fierce steak knives. My Sirloin, anointed with Gorgonzola sauce, was accompanied by Cast Iron Carrots and Garlic Confit Mashed Potatoes. My spouse's Rib Eye, baptised with Veal Demi Glace, was surrounded by Garlic Confit Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli florets. The visual appearance of the steaks fell short of what we had imagined as classic shapes of sirloin or rib eye. My sirloin had a gnarly, skinny look and the rib eye certainly did not shout "rib eye," but of course we had ordered each with its clearly stated topping. The Rib Eye was of good taste, if not setting a new record. I found my Sirloin difficult to tackle, with more gristle than expected, followed by serious jaw exercise but only an adequate beefy taste. Of course, this is a known risk of ordering sirloin anywhere. The delicious mashed potatoes spread across an area, wider than a mound, more pooled in shape than peaked. My assertive carrots, of the "cast iron" signature treatment, were interesting and could hold their own with any fire grilled steak. The florets of broccoli were most welcome. My spouse had Ben pour another glass of Cabernet, of a fine vintage chosen by this restaurant! For dessert, I selected the Lava Cake (a real treat) and my spouse the Tiramisu - quite good. We shared a half French Press Coffee Pot (superb coffee). There was never any rush; we chatted casually a bit with Ben. When we left, there were hearty farewells from staff. Only the lengthy, shadowy, steep descent - risky without continuous hand railing - slanting down the historic steps to Old South Street caused any discomfort. This adventure is the sole reason for dialing down the Atmosphere rating from 5 to 4. The subtracted point is perhaps more fairly applied to the City's standards for safety ratings.

Service was really great. Place is very loud. We were startled several times by a VERY loud bang. Foods good. Pricey.

Quaint Steakhouse, with eclectic menu. Apetizers were delicious. Steak was cooked properly. Filet was a very nice cut. NY strip was not the quality I would expect at these price points (too thin). Overall nice experience.

We picked up so I can’t rate some of the categories. Nutshell summary. We spent 42. Dollars (not counting tax) on each of 2 steaks. Bill over 100 for 2 people. We picked up our food because I can recovering from surgery and mobility is an issue. The potatoes are in a neat little hill. The other white substance on this plate is a LOAD of fat. Slightly OVER 50% of my steak was grizzle and translucent fat. Same for my sisters steak, though perhaps fat accounted for only 1/3 of her steak. I selected Caminito Steakhouse for the reviews, and I was willing to splurge. It took a long time just to cut away the fat. Not enough meat for a meal. The broccoli was, however, good I was too upset to eat the potatoes. I don’t get it.

We went for Valentine’s Day. I asked for medium on my sirloin and it came back rare. They were quick to return it but when it came back, it tasted burnt. Service was great, but a little disappointing food wise considering the day.

My wife and I went there for my birthday. The dinner before the tip was $135. That was a single appetizers we split, two entrees and two cocktails. My steak was a 9oz dry aged steak, which was good. Everything else was exceptionally mid. The meal was pretty unremarkable but it was also pretty expensive. we had some cauliflower app that tasted pretty much like roasted cauliflower. The broccoli and mashed was 'ok'. Even on a Saturday night when most of the other restaurants were packed Caminito was half full. It seemed a bit forlorn. We haven't eaten here in many years, in spite of living blocks away. I now remember why. There are, other, better options in Northampton. It's not horrible but why settle for that?

A
Anton Reed

Overpriced , serves cold food. Went with group of 8 . Sides were all cold . Steak was seasoned well but overcooked. The cocktails were good. Someone in group ordered 8 oz steak and it came out as 4oz with burnt potatoes that tasted soggy and lightly seasoned. The owner came out and really attempted to make it right by remaking some new sides and giving two in our party with the worst experience a round of red wine and some more apps. Overall nice service but just okay food. Maybe they were having a bad day in the kitchen. Staff was accommodating just for the price point expected a better product, these were sentiments of all in the group.

When I looked at the reviews for this restaurant, I was honestly confused. Some are good, some are bad. It wasn’t until I visited that it all made sense to me. First off, the bartender was amazing, it wasn’t too loud, the cocktails were decent, and the bourbon + scotch selection was admirable. The food though? I don’t want to call it bad, because when done right it’s absolutely not… but they have some work to do. Allow me to explain: My girlfriend ordered a filet cooked to medium (I know, sacrilege). This came out rare, and when we brought this to their attention, they happily threw it back on the grill. This would normally be no cause for concern, but it seems the temperature of their grill is far too high. The filet came back with what, if I’m being polite, can only be described as a very healthy sear - but the inside hadn’t changed at all. Repeat once more, and the steak comes back completely charred with zero change to the inside. Now, this can only be politely referred to as “ruined”. In the mean time, my friend and I ordered that day’s special, a 68 day aged ribeye, medium rare. While my friend’s was cooked perfectly, mine had no visible pink whatsoever (medium well) and the tougher texture left much to be desired. I was offered a filet by the manager, gave my girlfriend my medium steak (remember, hers was inedible). It was cooked properly this time around, but took around 20 minutes to come out. By this time my party had finished eating, so I took it to go. To their credit, they did try to make it right. I wasn’t charged for the dry aged steak or the filet they replaced it with. I do appreciate the good customer service and understanding attitude of the entire staff. This is when the strange distribution of reviews began to make sense - two identical meals were extremely inconsistent, and it really seems that they can’t reliably cook a good steak. When it’s done right it’s good, but you should expect this to be the exception - not two steaks in a party of four. I’ll probably give them another shot at some point, but I think they need some time to work out the kinks in their kitchen - and I truly hope they do.

I waited so long to go to try this place because I miss Argentinian meat and it just disappointed me. I give them 2 stars because of the environment, it was really good. Food it’s not as good as Argentinian steak is. I’m not Argentinian but I have lived there almost 8 years and what we ate was nothing closed as delicious as Argentinian meat really is. There aren’t any Argentinian dishes. I asked for a well done rib eye and it was burnt outside( 5/10). I asked for a chorizo instead of a choripan( Argentinian chorizo with bread and chimichurri) and they gave me a simple chorizo with a sausage different than what chimichurri really is and a few cubes of uncooked bread( 4/10). My husband asked for pork belly that was so small and with no taste( 4/10). The customer service was good.

Fred Civian

While the location and patio are really nice, staff was for the most part helpful and informative, the food itself was not so good. The vegetables in dry aged sirloin were actually pretty good, but the quality of the sirloin was not: tough to cut and gristly. Poor quality. The risotto was bland and porridge-like, as if they had proposed and cooked it all day before serving instead of preparing risotto fresh a few times throughout the day. Too many corners cut with the food to justify going there for dinner again. While a meetup for drinks there might work well, better to dine elsewhere.

I
Igor Biahliak

Lovely interior and atmosphere, unfortunately 2 of our stakes were cooked incorrectly. One was absolutely cold, second one was medium instead of medium rare. Service was mediocre as well. Had high expectations for this place, but nothing to write home about.

David Mcmillan

Waiter was pleasant and accommodating. Sirloin wasn't cooked properly. Potato's we're great. Don't order the lobster and crab ravioli. Looked under cooked and lacked proper portion, maybe as an appetizer? Still won't suggest ordering it! For the price, the quality was not as expected. Will not return!

I decided to go here for my birthday and was excited to experience good service and good steak but was disappointed with every aspect of my experience that night. When I first arrive with my partner we were told to wait as they were clearing away some tables. Another couple came in after us and was seated at a better table than us. I had even provided that it was my birthday in the reservation. We were seated near the door next to the kitchen. It took over 30 minutes for our orders to be taken, even though I let the waiter know that we were ready to order. At least we had our drinks already, which were great. We both got steaks, I ordered the filet and my partner ordered the ribeye. Both were burnt in spots. The carrots were initially left off of my partners plate, the waiter caught it just as he was setting it down on the table and came back with cold carrots. In addition to my steak being burnt in places, the brussel sprouts were doused in vinaigrette, probably in the hope that I wouldn't notice how burnt they were. It was also really hard to see because the lighting was so dim. Overall a really sad dinner for my birthday and the first time out in a long time.

D
David Pakman

Has changed ownership a number of times and this latest iteration is very shaky. On my first visit, my medium steak was burnt to a crisp. On my second visit my medium steak was essentially raw. Multiple people ordered the salmon which was burnt black on the outside. Several people tried the artichoke appetizer and found it barely edible. Everyone who had skewers had vegetables that were burnt black and not edible. Some of the things that were overcooked came out cold meaning they were overcooked and then just sat. Despite the restaurant being mostly empty, our waiter rushed us so much, collecting other people's dishes and offering desert and the check, that two people abandoned even trying to finish their meals.

B
Blanca Pauliukevicius

This is an overdue review…Food was okay, nothing special for the cost and the treatment you get. The service wasn’t great, we had a rude manager. But the most upsetting thing was they charged our reservation about $120 for our group, $15 p/person just to make a reservation because it was a “graduation weekend”! Never applied it to our bill. They just over charged us because of it- then told us to read the fine print. (Like who does that when making a dinner reservation?) In addition to the 20% charge for groups. I find this insulting and taking advantage of the busy celebration time. Everywhere else we ate at, the same group of people, were never charged additionally. Like it is a privilege to just go there- instead of them thanking us for our business to keep them open. I will never go back.

We had to share our experience with Caminito Steakhouse. We had reservations for a party of 5 for dinner. Two of us arrived a few minutes early and were seated promptly. It wasn't very busy and our waitress soon came over to see if we needed anything. We asked for water and a glass of wine. Perhaps the waitress was having a bad day, we both noticed a slight attitude. No worries, soon forgotten. The rest of our party arrived and we ordered drinks and soon ordered our meals. One of our party ordered a steak rare and it arrived medium. When paying that much for steak, it should be cooked as requested. My girlfriends potatoes were cold too. When our friend let the waitress know that her steak was not cooked as requested, her attitude changed. We waited longer for a drink refill, she was short with us, practically dropped our beers onto the table in front of us and basically tossed the dessert menus onto the table. Terrible. If the instant feedback to our waitress was handled properly, perhaps the review would be more favorable...but, that's what these reviews are for I suppose. Good or bad. We've had this waitress before and her attitude on that day wasn't much better. We've had some favorable experiences here in the past, asked some friends to join us this time and it really wasn't good. It will be quite a while before we decide to return. Do better Caminito.

I’ve finally decided to write a short review about my family dinner at this place. I have waited for one week in order to let steam out and be reasonable. Well, if to describe the place in just one word using politically correct language - it is fake. With real life slang we use when really don’t like something - it s.u.c.k. Why ? Short answer: they simply can not cook food. What a new concept - to have good food in supposedly good restaurant, right ? Here’s the longer explanation: This place is very pretentious: it tries to convince you that it is high end restaurant while it is not at all. To masquerade below average-ness they use supposedly cozy atmosphere (dark open room with no privacy), caring waiters (excessively polite to the level of being annoying) forgetting what was ordered, and price tag for the ruined “dry-aged steak” ($110) which makes you think it is something special. Before going there we knew that it was overpriced, but a few people we know recommended the place, so we decided - why not ? Plus, we had a special occasion. We were one of the first 2-3 Customers, right after opening. Waiter asked us specifically about the water : we ordered sparkling. Flash forward : it never came to us. The steak we ordered was dry aged for two for $110. We asked to make medium-rare. When finally it arrived it was COLD (not warm - literally cold) and un-cooked inside but charred on outside. Clearly, it was taken from the fridge and thrown onto high flame immediately. Plate, mash potato were barely warm. It felt like yesterday’s supper microwaved. How it was even possible to mess up potato is still beyond me. We called the waiter and explained the situation. He very responsively took it away and after some bring back microwaved in the same plate. To the point of being ‘done’. The somebody really has to have “expertise” to ruin $110 dry-aged steak. In high end restaurants manager was supposed to be notified to rectify situation, the meat is supposed to be completely replaced or at least they should not charge for this,. Flash forward: none of this happened. We had to call manager, but the just had nice polite chat with us. We ordered another steak, normal one, not dry aged. It came overdone, barely edible. Waiter asked me if I need another beer. I said yes, please. Flash forward: never came. In the end the restaurant “mitigated” this total disaster by offering us free cheese cakes ($8), which we simply did not want. Seriously, Caminito people ? What can I say ? If you want to visit the place - think twice. If you decide to go - bring your steak and beer. Or even better, go to Texas Roadhouse or learn how to cook. But even good practical cook, like myself, wants to go out and just enjoy time and food. Sorry, Caminito, I’m not coming back.

Expected a whole lot more and left severely disappointed. Started out being welcomed by the owner (?) to sit at the bar as we were early for our reservation and the bartender was attentive and personable.. When the rest of our party arrived, we were seated immediately... Then, sadly, it went quickly downhill from there. Long wait for drinks, requested bread to enjoy with drinks finally came with the meal, steak tips and lobster tail were cold and inedible, sirloin tasteless and tough, risotto over salted. It was a special evening that was soured by one of the worse meals ever. A waste of money. Such a disappointment..

T
Thomas Robinson

This used to be a favorite spot. It seems to have gone down hill. The quality of the meat was very poor for our recent meal. We were a party of four: 2 ribeyes and 2 sirloin steaks. They were all grisly. The ribeyes were less than an inch thick and mostly fat. All of the steaks had too much char. We left most of the steak on the plate. It is very disappointing because this place used to have consistently excellent food. Don’t know if there’s new ownership, management, or chef, but it is not the same place. Service was very good. The atmosphere is good. But when the product is worse than what you would get a strip mall steak house, there’s no reason to go.

J
James Mandeville

The sauce was uninspired and the ribeyes were lackluster at best. Somehow there were two different songs playing at a rather unfortunate volume. Overall an experience worth forgetting for the price of one worth remembering.
