Cal's Wood-Fired Grill & Bar

We had a really wonderful early lunch at Cals. Passing through on our way home in the middle of what turned out to be an 11 hour trip, stopping here was the best decision we could have made. Phenomenal food and our server Margot was a delight.

Very nice & seems always busy. Highly recommend you make reservations even on a Monday we celebrated our wedding anniversary and dinner was great. Now we've officially visited each of the MRG restaurants 👍

Excellent varied menu, very efficient, well-trained staff, food delicious- always a terrific dining experience. They serve the best appletini! Cal’s, one of my favorites for lunch, linner or dinner!

If you're seeking a romantic, fancy, or business-like dinner, this is one of the best places to go. It has a very sophisticated dinner and atmosphere that makes you feel fancy without overprinting the food too much. Yes, this place is more expensive than casual dining, but it is not outrageously expensive. The only negative is that the seasoning and such on my dish overpowered my seafood's natural flavor, but it's still good overall. I recommend it for those seeking to dine for a special or business occasion.

My wife and I celebrated an anniversary and Cal's came recommended by someone I know. The restaurant was busy but that's a good indication that people love this. The food that passed us as we waited to be seated looked amazing. When we finally got our food you can see in my pictures that our food was amazing. We had a very nice time and the service seemed very good. Even though there was so many people the food did not take forever to get to us but was actually brought to us pretty quick given how busy they were. They did a good job at keeping the place clean as well. I always look to see how well restaurants keep their place clean. This is a great restaurant in the food is really good.

Perfect way to spend Mother's day. Delightful staff with a great prefix menu. Loved the homey vibes with a mix of elegance and sea life(a lot of things going on with decor but love it). Great food and even better cocktails. The oysters were so good. Loved the fried appetizer but can't recall the name The steak, pizza and chicken Parm are go to dishes. Worth the trip!

For the moment you walk in it’s a very warm and inviting dining room with a beautifully appointed bar and just off to the left is a woodfired pizza oven. The aroma is to die for then you gaze to the right to the open kitchen where the magic really happens. We enjoyed the fisherman‘s special which had beautiful lightly fried fish, shrimp, scallops, and clam strips with homemade tartar sauce and we had the red fish which was lightly sautéed in a light Cajun seasoning with a beautiful cream sauce topped with spinach, shrimp, and scallops, which was equally delicious. Our waitress was exceptional, providing top-notch service and we ended up getting one stuffed shrimp to try because the rest of dinner was so amazing.!! Stop on in it’s worth the trip

If you’re in the Springfield area, Cal’s is a solid restaurant worth visiting. Excellent casual atmosphere with top-notch service. Went here for dinner and was pleasantly surprised with just about everything I ate. When in New England, you just have to try the chowder—no matter what the temperature outside is! It was amazing. Coconut shrimp was huge and delicious. Had the fisherman’s platter. The fish was fresh and tasty, but the breading was a little heavy. Filet mignon was worth the price. I’ll definitely being coming back next time I’m in the area.

A non-chain restaurant doing things right. Our server was June. She got our drink order right after we were seated. She offered us bread and butter, which we declined. A smaller menu let's them excel at what they do. The clam chowder was loaded with clams, the most I've ever had. It had such great favor. It's now my number 1!! I then had the shrimp cocktail. They have 2 sizes to pick from. They were cleaned and cooked perfectly. The cocktail sauce came with horseradish that you could mix in to have it to you liking, which was awesome. My husband got the fish and chips. He said the fish was light and flaky, not greasy at all. The batter was not heavy. The fries were nice and crispy. Our server checked back with us often. Everyone was very pleasant. The restaurant has a lot of different areas which lent itself to a nice atmosphere. All in all, we absolutely loved it and would highly recommend it to anyone.

It was our first time here and our waiter his name is pascual. He helped us pick out the best food on the menu. Everything was very good. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was 10/10 and the service was 10/10. Will be coming back here soon.

The food and drinks were 10 out of 10 perfection! Anna was very attentive and friendly! She provided a very positive experience for us! Highly recommend!!

Went to pre-holiday dinner with family, had a wonderful evening. Had a reservation. Seating was under 10min, the place was hopping! Had the wild mushroom ravioli and it was fantastic! Will be back!

Family took me to Cals for my 82 bday last nite. We were a party of 11 but our waiter Phillip was right on top of everything. From taking drink orders to our meal choices he was attentive without being overly so. He seemed to know when each course would be finished and visited our table accordingly. The menu had different food choices which you dont find anywhere else. It was refreshing. Everyone enjoyed their selections. Am giving Phillip five stars. Know he had other tables besides ours to service but he didn't seem flustered or frazzled even tho it was a Friday nite and crazy busy. Will definitely visit Cals again. Kudos!

Our server, Phillip, was fantastic. He was patient (my friend was running late), helpful and extremely pleasant. The food was excellent. Will definitely be back for dinner sometime.

Excellent food preparation and service. Grilled fish, pizza and fish&chips were served hot and delicious. Wait staff pleasant and efficient. My only comment would be to include the regular dessert menu as part of the 3 course lunch options.

Came here for my mom's birthday dinner. our server Phil was amazing as there were 11 of us, did a great job. I had the cauliflower crust buffalo chicken pizza and it was delicious. The atmosphere was very cozy! Definitely will be coming back.

My sister and her fiance took me here for lunch today and I must say, the food was excellent and seasoned to perfection. We all ordered different stuff and everything tasted great. I will definitely be going back.

I’m so upset I forgot to take photos but it was mostly because everything was so delicious and i was so hungry!!! We had Pascual as our server and he was AMAZING! He gave us great recommendations for cocktails and they did not disappoint! We also had the calamari and mozzarella appetizers which were delicious! For entrees my husband ordered the scallops and lobster risotto. He loved it! I ordered the ribeye with Yukon potatoes and Brussels which was excellent! For dessert we had the strawberry cake as recommended and it was delightful. We can’t wait to come back and try some other menu items and ask for the best server Pascual of course!

Our meal was incredible! Our waitress (I hope I get her name right), McKenna (?) was the absolute epitome of 'excellent customer service'. I had traveled almost 3 hours to meet our group, and it was WELL worth the miles! I had enough left over for my dinner the next day! Win-win! I highly recommend!!

This review is long overdue. I have been going to Cals for years. You cant go wrong with anything here. I would recommend the Center Pork Chops. Its Fantastic. The Restaurant is a 10 out of 10. I don't usually go that high on scores but this place is the exception.

Everything was great, server included. We tried 3 apps, 3 entrees and 2 desserts, mocktails and mostly everything had “no notes” ☺️ the only feedback was the sticky ribs, while delicious, they were oddly cool/cold! But we still ate them as the flavors were great — they would’ve been 10x better warm, though. Overall a wonderful experience. We actually loved the smaller portions. Perfect sizes.

Went over to this bar & grill last weekend with a couple friends, and it turned out better than I expected. The place has a chill vibe, not too loud, and the staff was pretty friendly even tho they were a bit busy. I tried their grilled chicken sandwich and it was actually really good—juicy and not overdone like some places. Drinks were reasonably priced too, which is always a plus. Overall, it’s a solid spot if you just want to relax, grab some food, and hang out for a bit. I’d go again for sure.

Love this place! Favorite in Springfield. Good for kids and adults. Tuna tartare is amazing, service always great! Spent my birthday there with a large party and our waitress was amazing. 🤩 love the 🍔so good especially the steak 10 out of 10!👌🤍❤️

The cracked Burrata better never leave the menu. It's awesome, amazing and scrumptious. My burger perfectly cooked, great bun, bacon crisp, fries crisp but forgot my mayo on the side. Still great service and food and if you eat in the atmosphere is great with very friendly peeps. I will always return!

We absolutely loved the food. The lunch special, salad, entrée, and desert was wonderful. I loved the Italian dressing my friend had the citress. We added the special oil and warm bread... oh my goodness, a great start. I had salmon my friend had the chicken franchise. Bith were healthy pirtions and delicious. Tye desert, we both enjoyed ours. Holly was our fabulous very attentive waitress. We appreciate every ounce of the experience. We will meet there again. Thank you.

Lisa was outstanding. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely welcoming from start to finish. She was extremely welcoming, knew the menu well, anticipated our needs, and made the entire experience feel effortless. Service like hers is the reason people come back to Cal’s.

The food was so good! We had pastas and pizza. The desserts were out of this world! We had the chocolate mousse cake, the apple tart, and the creme brulee. I can't tell you which was my favorite. I loved them all! If you can, sit in June's section. She was so wonderful and sweet.

I have not been here in years and was looking forward to this visit. Everything was amazing and the food - bread and dipping oil, stuffed mushroom caps, Oakwood Grilled Pork Chop and cheesecake with strawberry sauce (from their Sunday/Monday Prix Fixe menu for $28, with a great variety of options)- absolutely delicious! Our server was very attentive, checking on us multiple times, making sure we had everything we needed throughout our dining experience. I cant wait to go back and may just do so for my birthday dinner next week 😊

Cal's is just OK, I can't understand why it's so highly rated. The good is extremely average for the price they're charging. The pizza is wood fired but the crust tastes pre-made, it's a granular texture with no rise. My $20 pizza was also the same size as the children's pizza. Would I come back? No. There are much better options for the crazy price they're charging.

My wife and I went on Memorial Day and had the four-course prix-fixe menu. We thought for $25 it was an exceptional value. Our waiter was very friendly and did a phenomenal job.

The food was fresh and came out fast. My son had the chicken wrap with fries, and I had the schnitzel salad. He liked his. Mine was decent, but I probably would’ve enjoyed something else more. The fresh mozzarella fritti was good. The overall cost of lunch was upwards of $70, which felt a bit expensive. Beer selection was pretty good, and our server was friendly and helpful. Parking was plentiful and free.

We just stumbled on this restaurant while we were looking for our hotel. It was around 4:00 pm on a Thursday, the service was very good and helpful. We had the Mediterranean Pasta and the Chicken Ravioli. The ravioli was very good and the Mediterranean was excellent. They also have a good beer and wine selection. The atmosphere was very cozy. My husband and I had a great dinner at Cal's. My hazelnut crusted was cooked and seasoned perfectly. The same for my husband's filet. Our server was sweet, efficient and so attentive. Unfortunately, we were seated directly under the ac vent. My poor husband froze. The group next to us were so loud we were unable to carry on a conversation. Perhaps they didn't realize there were other people there?

Been to Cal’s a few times and always had a good experience from the service to the food. The restaurant is busy and alive during peak week operations so a reservation is beneficial. The menu has many great options and maybe hard to select your choice because everything sounds great. The Cracked Burrata and Calamari Fritti were some stars on their appetizer options. Delicious, clean and properly seasoned plates to start your meal. Had several pizzas and they were all great and assembled and cooked with precision. The Fisherman’s Platter, Southern Fried Chicken Sandwich are some notable dishes that were great. What really struck me from someone who is a Chef and eats out at different establishments is that Cals’s knows how to properly season and plate their food. All in all this place delivers across the board for day or night out to eat.

I did not sit in the restaurant, I did a pickup order so I can't judge the service or the atmosphere. The food was excellent though, they just didn't have any bread and that's mandatory for a pasta dish. Not sure if I missed it when I was ordering but honestly I have no other complaint. Decent pickup time and a hot plentiful delicious meal. I'd definitely order from them again. They were packed so I'm assuming people enjoy going there. I'm not from the area, just working here for a bit and decided to try something new. I wasn't disappointed.

Great place with average level food. We stopped by for lunch a day before valentines day and wanted to experience their food and customer service! They have pretty large parking and enough space for everyone 😎 Entrance and customer welcoming is pretty good, bar seating and all other separated rooms/ areas are fantastic for family and group parties 🎉😁😈 I recommend you call for reservations if you are coming for a special night 😈 Servers were pretty expert and responsive, they know what they are doing! 👍 tnx! Food menu needs a huge improvement, not all wines are available for 6 or 9oz glass choice, you have limited choice on glass wine order 😕 Appetizers/starters are something usual and did not see anything special other than oyster 🦪 choices 🤩🤩 Salad 🥗 & soup 🍲 I did not like the salad serving, design and quality! But chowder was the best 🤤🤤🤤🤤 wooow Stone pie’s! You gotta kidding! No way, are you serious? We ordered two stone pie pizza 🍕, Margarita and Tuscan pepperoni, got our orders and I felt i am eating frozen 🥶 pizza! Plus, it was cold, didn’t complain because everything was good except pizza part 😣 Not sure how you call your restaurant Wood Fire, perhaps just because of fire place at the entrance? am I correct? hopefully not! ☹️ However, everything was pretty good except pizza part, I did not like it because of quality, texture, taste and coldness🥶! Dessert 🍮 🍨 🧁 part was pretty good, limited options with good quality! My dessert was warmer than my pizza 🍕😢 you can imagine! Anyway, everyone deserves a second chance! Cal's is a good choice! Place located at 1068 Riverdale Street in West Springfield, Massachusetts. I will update this review when I check this place again and try something else from their menu.

I have been a long time customer of cals but lately they have been increasing the prices and decreasing the portion size. The quality of the food is great and the bartenders are too but the last time I ate there it was $76 for one drink and one tiny piece of short rib I left there hungry and will never eat there again. Frankly I am disgusted with this place and I am not the only one who feels that way

My boyfriend and I visited on 2/9/26 and unfortunately had a very unsettling experience. He ordered the brownie dessert with ice cream and found a hair in it. When we informed our server, he told us he had already found a hair in the ice cream container earlier that day and that there “might be more.” Hearing that was extremely concerning, as it suggested the ice cream may have continued to be served despite a known contamination issue. My boyfriend understandably chose not to eat the dessert, and we were not offered a replacement, refund, or any form of accommodation. The waiter said “sorry”, then proceeded to spill water all over our table when refilling our glasses and later forgetting to give my boyfriend his card back after he paid. What’s even more disappointing is that I reached out afterward — I emailed the restaurant and also sent a message on Instagram — and no one has contacted me in response. We’ve been customers for years and have always enjoyed dining here, which made this experience especially upsetting.

I was looking to spend valentine's day with my five year old son. I am a member of the United States Coast Guard, I asked for military discount when I was picking up our food. I was told because it was a holiday, that they did not offer the military discount. So, I thought that meant it was because they were offering a valentine's day discount. However, they offered us neither. That's shitty.
