Great, classy restaurant. I've been here a few times including after a show at the Engeman on my birthday. I ate here again the other day with family. The food was excellent! I had the salmon!

Great meal and service. Had the Bistro Clams for an appetizer and the short ribs for dinner. Both were excellent! The mashed potatoes with goat cheese was so smooth and creamy.

Located down in Northport Village. Excellent food and service. Veal scallopini, skirt steak sandwich, French onion soup, baked clams and salads are all phenomenal. Beautiful restaurant and bar with an unbelievable outside patio. Can't wait to go back!

Pleasantly surprised by this intimate little bistro on the strip in Northport. The freshest, most delicious fish - great steak, vegetables- everything. This place is a gem - will definitely be back!

Went here for dinner on a weeknight. The food was wonderful (I had the lamb and my husband had the Salmon, we split calimari for an app). Everything was cooked perfectly and seasoned lightly but very well. The service was attentive we just had water and they came by several times to fill up our glasses. Since it was summer the patio was packed but, they did not rush us in fact they kept the pace mellow. It's a perfect date night spot.

Salmon is amazing... chef will often come out and talk to the diners to ensure they had a great meal. Northport can be a busy town but Bistro makes you feel like you stepped outta the crowd and into an amazing dining experience. I love how they never rush you... they believe dining is an experience and one worth enjoying. Great wine selection which will be paired with your meals should you want a recommendation.

Food was very very good - Pork Chop amazing! Great size portions in appetizers and entrees! Service was great! Best Wine choice from waiter for Pinot Grigio. On a busy Saturday night (in August) food was timely and hot!

L

OMG! The food, the ambiance, the service (Leo) and our entire evening was out of this world! The Veal Chop was beautifully presented and an incredibly large portion. My husband just had leftovers a day later and there is still more for tomorrow. I had the best Cioppino I've ever had. An incredible portion with clams, mussels crab claws and more claws. The base was with wine and sooooo delicious! This was such an amazing find in the charming town or Northport.

one of the best restaurants in the town of northport! the courtyard with outdoor seating is so nice and the food is fantastic. (the spinach ravioli with lobster is a 10/10) service is great too, definitely try this place!

Excellent food and service. I had a lobster over handmade spinach ravioli that was loaded with large pieces of lobster meat. It was delicious. And my date had a risotto dish that she also enjoyed immensely.

Some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of tasting. I've eaten at much more expensive restaurants with fantastic food and bistro 44 was a step above the rest. We had the crab cakes, skirt steak, lobster ravioli and French apple tart, all were delicious.

It's classy dark and romantic inside, as well as quant. A lot of local regulars come by. I sat at the bar with coworkers and the lovely bartender Landregan made me a delicious cucumber lemonade beverage. I had a duck appetizer that was delicious and I ate every bit of it.

This place is great for a date night out. I had the branzino fish and it was a hearty serving with great flavor. One of the best branzino I’ve had. They have a nice little bar and outdoor seating. A northport staple for a great dinner.

Service was a bit inattentive at first, but they made up for it with a first round of drinks on them. The food was excellent and we had plenty of time to make our show at the local theater. I would go back again.

This restaurant is fabulous. It is quaint, old and beautiful with lots of character...very romantic. It used to be an old tavern and it is set in a seaside town..really a magical place. Recently there has been change in ownership, and now it is perfect....Character, ambiance and delicious food...not to mention quite attentive service. Northport has won the lottery. Thank you Bistro for bringing all of this to the locals of Northport. This is a friendly place where you can dress up or down. My family and I had dinner here tonight and everything was delicious. I highly reccomend the fresh tuna and the fried calamari...The fresh lobster and spinach ravioli were incredible with large chunks of fresh lobster meat. My husband had the ribeye and I had the salmon...both so wonderful, We love the Bistro 44!!!!! Also I would like to mention that our server this time, Jesse and the last time, Gina were so attentive...much appreciated. This place has got everything right!!!!!!!

Always a great meal. Had the Cioppino with a half lobster, shrimp, clams and mussels. Dessert was a creme Brulee with a chocolate cigar, so it looks a little bit like an ash tray. Northport is all decorated for Christmas so have a walk down the dock before calling it a night.

M

Went to Bistro 44 in Northport for the first time today, and everything was perfect. We had the roasted butternut squash salad with grilled chicken and the baby greens salad with grilled chicken. The combination of almost contradictory ingredients in the butternut squash salad was absolutely delicious, and the chicken was tender and flavorful. The service was attentive and friendly, and we'll definitely be back again. You can check out their full menu at their website.

This review is about Lucas. This guy was an absolute all star. He kept every single person at our table’s water filled to the brim the entire meal. He must’ve filled mine at least 12 times to the point where I had to ask him what his name was. He spoke with respect to us…sir/ma’am. Very attentive. Very professional. Deserves a raise and promotion. Well done and made our experience great. 10/10 for Lucas.

We had the best experience last night dining at Bistro 44. We originally planned to eat somewhere else and were left waiting for 40mim before we finally got up and found Bistro 44…thank god! The service was impeccable and exactly what we needed after being left for dead at the last place. Leo, was helpful, kind, fun, efficient, and the type of server we all strive to find when dining out. The food was absolutely delicious (we had oysters, calamari, the halibut special and the chicken Milanese) and I wouldn’t have changed a single thing. We will definitely be back for the food and because of Leo! Thank you bistro 44!

Had my birthday lunch there today. I had the delicious skirt steak sandwich with french fries. Their cab sauvignon by the glass is so good that I had two! Tablecloths and mood lighting even for lunch- that's my kind of place. Cozy little booths. They surprised me with a piece of cheesecake w/ a candle and sang happy birthday to me! I will be back here for dinner with my husband! Everything was so delicious and spot on! Thanks so much for a grrrrreat birthday!!! 😍❤️

My number 1 Favorite Pl. to go! It’s always a sure thing the tuna bistro is my favorite appetizer, and they make a lobster and crab risotto to die for! You get every dimes worth in the proportions of perfect to pricing ! My tuna bistro appetizer, can even be just a meal! Great service! This my number one restaurant. I recommend all the time ! Also with Harbor House. Different but just the same quality food everything . It’s like having twins. Really different but owned by the same owner. So I guess I have 2 number one spots by the same “father owner” fantastic cuisine, service, ingenuity, amazing mixology for specialty drinks !

Food was absolutely delicious. Service was great. Sat outside on the patio, but inside as well.... Great ambiance. Went there to eat lunch. Great outdoor dining in a lovely courtyard. They also offer indoor dining that was well spaced out but we are not ready for that yet.. Nice to get away. Everything was well distanced, food was fantastic and Leo and the rest provided very good service. Laurie loved the Halibut special. Looking forward to going back.

Decided on Bistro 44 to have dinner for a friend's birthday on a Saturday night. The atmosphere was comfortable. The staff was extremely attentive, friendly and polite. It was a particularly quiet evening for Northport on a Saturday, but that soon changed once we were seated. The food was good and was prepared precisely as requested. The portions were sized accordingly and the flavor was exponential. I ordered a Ribeye 🥩, bone in, with a nice potato 🥔 and asparagus. I also ordered a tasty beverage to wash it all down with. My date had the beef short rib, mashed potatoes and asparagus. The birthday girl had salmon and green beans and kicked it off with a house salad 🥗 as did her husband who also opted for the pork chop, mashed potatoes and green beans. Everyone enjoyed their meal and experience. I'll most likely recommend Bistro 44 to friends and acquaintances and will most likely revisit this establishment again.

Our evening at Bistro 44 was simply delightful. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed warmly, and the ambiance struck a perfect balance of coziness and sophistication. The staff radiated positivity, and Bonny, our server, was especially attentive. Her thoughtfulness truly shone when she offered us complimentary ice cream—a sweet touch that added to the experience. We started with a complimentary trio of dips (olive oil with garlic, butter, and olive tapenade) served with fresh bread, setting a promising tone for the meal. We opted for the prix fixe menu, priced around $45, which was exceptional in every course. Additionally, we tried the French onion soup—the best we’ve had—and the ahi bluefin tuna tartare, where the sauce was just as impressive as the dish itself. Bistro 44 delivered a memorable dining experience with fantastic food, a welcoming atmosphere, and attentive service. Highly recommended!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bistro 44, a hidden gem in the heart of [Northport. The moment I stepped through the door, I was captivated by the warm, inviting atmosphere. The elegant decor, coupled with the soft lighting, created a perfect ambiance for a special evening. The highlight of my meal was, without a doubt, the steak and it was cooked to absolute perfection. The meat was tender, juicy, and bursting with flavor. The char on the outside was a beautiful contrast to the succulent interior. The accompanying sides were equally delicious, complementing the steak beautifully. The service was impeccable. Our server was attentive, knowledgeable, and made us feel like VIPs. They were happy to recommend dishes and answer any questions we had about the menu. If you're a steak lover searching for an unforgettable dining experience, I highly recommend visiting. It's a place where the quality of the food, the ambiance, and the service truly stand out.

We had a wonderful meal in the garden patio area at Bistro 44. Our party reserved a table which was set and ready in the dining room, though we decided to move to the beautiful patio area and accommodated quickly The server was attentive, and pleasant person that provided very accurate information about the menu which helped us to decide the best options. We each started with a refreshing Gin and Tonic followed by very generous appetizer portions of Thai calamari, and Tuna tartar. Absolutely delicious! The entree course was also exceptional! Two of us ordered the twice cooked duck and two ordered the ravioli topped with lobster. Again, generous portions of well prepared delicious food. Our experience was really special as we felt so cared for by our server Andrew! We definitely plan to return to experience some of the other items on the menu and chill out in the garden patio.

This was a fantastic surprise. Bistro 44 was recommended to us and it exceeded expectations. It's warm and cozy with friendly staff and a great menu. Antipasto to start, the Bistro Burger and chicken milanese as entrees, and a couple of coffee cocktails plus the pictured for dessert. An excellent evening.

A very warm and cozy restaurant, not very large but with a nice bar. Outstanding service, and the menu with so many wonderful choices that I literally wanted to eat everything on the menu. For an appetizer we ordered the Thai chili calamari, which was a huge portion for two people. We also split the butternut squash salad which was light crisp and delicious, and oddly came out before the appetizer. For our main course, my lady ordered marinated skirt steak and I got the ribeye, which was approximately 16 oz even though it's not mentioned on the menu. Both were cooked to perfection and both came with nice side dishes that were interchangeable with any side dish listed on the menu, which was very nice and accommodating. We didn't get dessert because we were stuffed beyond belief but we did have a drink each. Total came to about 160 with tip but was worth it. I would definitely go back.

We were dining in the beautiful outdoor area behind the place when a huge thunderstorm and flash flood began. But the wonderful and attentive staff took it in stride, bringing all the guests indoors and even offering free drinks to us while we remained trapped inside. The food was excellent as well, with a nice brunch menu and extensive choices for beer wine and cocktails.

Little pricey but the food is good and gives you enough to eat. Went to lunch there asked for bread and told we don't do bread at lunch. Pretty sure the first time I went there I had bread. If a customer asks for something that you do serve, it should be brought out no matter what time it is.

05/28/2023 dinner after show. 5:30pm patio table for 4. Really nice atmosphere. 4 different entries. All were very good. Thai calamari appetizer also good. The French onion soup was especially good. Extremely difficult to find any restaurant that actually uses gruyere cheese. Almost every place uses cheaper mozzarella. Cocktails were reasonable. Waitress was very nice but spread too thin. Could have been more attentive. Would return.

Our server Endy was phenomenal; amicable, patient, and charismatic. The service was incredible. The mixed drinks were underwhelming. The seafood risotto wasn't impressive. It felt more like a rice + seafood dish instead of a cohesive risotto. It lacked flavor and was poorly executed.

I grew up in Northport and when I visit with my wife and 3 children I’m always looking to see what’s new on Main Street. Bistro 44 seemed like a good option for us for dinner. The interior was empty but the back courtyard next to the thomas building is really nice. We got just the Cioppino and a salad. Both were pretty good, if not great. Prices not too bad and a nice beer selection. For Northport Village, which usually has pretty bad food, this was a nice find.

K

The hostess working 2-26 in the afternoon was rude and not welcoming. Hospitality 101. Always be welcoming to your paying customers. We still had a great meal and a great waiter regardless of the rude interaction.

Quite expensive. Will not recommend Cesare salad, very plain with tiny boxed croutons. Plain plain.

We stopped in for lunch around 1:00 pm on a Tuesday. Party of 3. We were seated at a lovely table by the window. The remainder of the restaurant appeared quite dark, so we felt fortunate. We started with the lump crab cakes and fried mozzarella. The crab cakes were the best I’ve ever had, complimented with avocado spread. The mozzarella was good but seemed a bit overcompensated, covered in balsamic and garnish. We ordered the chicken, bacon artichoke sandwich with fries x’s two. The bread was a bit dry, as was the chicken, but the flavor was very good. The fries were average. We also ordered the lobster ravioli with cream sauce. It was delicious. Plenty of lobster and full of flavor. The sauce could have been a bit thicker, or perhaps served with bread. We only ordered water and one iced tea. The waiter was slow to refill all. My son requested a refill on his iced tea and we were charged for two iced teas. When asking the waiter if it was an error, we were told “they don’t offer free refills”. People don’t like being nickel and dimed when spending over $118.00 on lunch. I typically add 25% for gratuity. This waiter received $20.00. The service was lacking.

D
David

Service was ok and food was so so. My wife got the duck and I got the filet special. I had to send mine back as it was well done and i ordered it medium rare. After a long wait, I did get my steak medium rare. The steak wasn’t high quality and the sauce wasn’t good. My wife’s duck was overcooked and way beyond crispy. These two items were highly recommended by the server.

Came with a friend on a Friday night before the theater. We both had the Baby Greens salad and while it was very good, was much too much food. Could've served 3 or 4 people. For the main course I had the Marinated Skirt Steak. This can be a difficult cut to carry off, but Bistro 44 did an excellent job. It tasted delicious, was cooked to perfection and was tender. My friend had the Ahi Tuna and also liked it very much. The downside, and it is a big one, is the noise. It was unbearable. Apart from the fact that we couldn't hear each other, we both left with headaches; not something you want before the theater. Not planning on returning just for that reason.

M

Small and a little too pricey but the food was decent. I had a steak salad and the ingredients were fresh and tasty. The steak was juicy and tender. Wouldn't be a mainstay place for me but it was a nice meal.

Nice menu, nice service (even though waiter forgot to bring bread). Arrived too early on a Sunday afternoon for daily specials as none were prepared yet. Advisable to make reservations. Location may be worth at least another half star.

S

Haven’t been here since last year as we vacation here. I was sooo disappointed with the service, we ordered a number of starters to share, 2 came out while we waited 20 minutes for the balance of starters, my crab cakes were burnt. Every other table that sat down before us was served their starters well before us. Wait staff didn’t care, and were very nonchalant about it all. We decided to pay for starters and go elsewhere for mains. Such a pity as this place was my favourite in north port.

R
R j Bozzella

Staff is very nice and is a pleasant place to dine. The entrees were very good and yes we dine here now and then. However, if you are going to serve bread then serve bread not stale bird feed. Also, the fries are always limp and dark. My money was perfect, so should be the meal. People like bread as well as a good fry. Why serve a very simple food sub-par? Very dissapointed. That's not the way to make money.

P
Paul Hyman

I’m not the sort to write a lukewarm review for fun, so I’m being honest when I say that I was somewhat confused by our experience. Many others left glowing reviews, and the staff were indeed very kind and attentive and the atmosphere quite nice. What threw us off was that most everything on the menu sounded fantastic, and was priced into a bracket where it should be, but unfortunately did not live up to expectations. Four out of a dozen Blue Point oysters were past their prime, and while the entrees were nice portions they were all fairly bland, which for $25-$35 is unfortunately a deal-breaker. We’re disappointed because we enjoyed everything else about the restaurant, but the food needs some TLC before we would return.

BusyB
BusyB

Food was ok. Drinks were not great. For $13 , you should taste the liquor. Lobster was fresh and very bland. Overall everything was much greaser then expected. The crab cakes were burned and dripping w grease. The sweet potatoes were so dark from the oil. I love to go out for a treat and try new places for lunch. I also love to get what you pay for. Their prices should reflect a better product. 😞

very cool restaurant and we were promptly seated to our table by a very nice man. first our server came over without introducing himself and told us the “soup do the day” without any further information. after ordering our food it came out in decent timing but when brought over by the food runner she didn’t ask who ordered what and just placed them down in the wrong spots after spilling some of the content of one of the dishes onto the ground. the food was good but the service was very unprofessional for what i thought was an upscale restaurant. i am very familiar with the service industry and i was very unimpressed. i still don’t know my waiters name.

We experienced this establishment on a Monday night. The good: The food taste was outstanding. The chef seemed well qualified for any high end NYC restaurant. Substitutions on side orders was no problem. The not-so-good: The waiting staff was not familiar with the menu or how food was prepared. We had a lamb dish that was good, but had very small portions. When we first entered the restaurant and could not find anyone to seat us. After walking through the dining area several times, we were finally approached by a waitress. The lack of attention to the customer was a major minus in the overall rating. Overall, there was a nice atmosphere and most dishes were reasonably priced. There were also $1.00 Yinling drafts and sale priced Buffalo wings that drew a big crowd to the bar area. I would not order the lamb again - not based on quality, only child sized portions. I would also suggest that you make reservations.

Standard service. Appetizers bread came with butter, sweet garlic, olive tapenade - all bland. Weighing shortrib, Ordered the Cioppino instead. Absolutely flavorless way to waste $50 and my time de-shelling molluscs. Should have gone with the shortrib or just avoided the visit entirely

July 18, 2025 We went out to dinner with my son and his wife for my wife's birthday. We eat here a few times each year and usually enjoy the food and service. This time the service was awful. We were there for over two hours. After our order got taken we waited a long time for the bread and beverages. It took a long time to get our food but the worst part is that I asked for a second bottle of sparkling water several times. I was very parched and had to ask the bus boy if he could help, It still took at least 20 minutes to get it. The waitress never came back to our table till we were ready to go, not once to ask how our food was or did we need anything. This was extremely disappointing and we will never go back again!!! 2022 Had lunch in the outdoor sitting area. Food and service were very good. We had to sit in the alley since we had our lab with us. Would have preferred sitting in the inner courtyard.

I was there recently and came across someone who knows about the restaurant and they told me that the lobster in the lobster ravioli was not real lobster! That it is actually imitation lobster! I am very upset that I paid nearly 30 dollars for this dish that simply had five small raviolis with this lobster meat on top, correction, imitation lobster meat! I was wondering why it was meaty and not sweet like lobster should be. I warn those who go there, not to order the lobster ravioli, and who knows what else goes on there. Won't be returning, buyer beware.

I got severe food poisoning. I ordered the Cioppino which is seafood. I will NEVER return to this restaurant and have been warning friends and family.

I have been going to bistro 44 for over 10 years at least, and this is the first time I was extremely disappointed. My friend and I had a 4 PM reservation. The maître d’ sat us down and we were there sitting for at least 15 minutes without anybody coming over to the table. At that point, we asked the maître d’ who happen to walk by if he could please send a waiter over. he went and got one of the waiters who happened to be sitting down at the time and not paying attention to his tables. Wevordered a drink which came pretty quickly, but then it was a long while before he came and read us the specials and took our order. The order did not take that long to get to the table. We ordered a special of red snapper and shrimp, which was delicious. It then took a long while for them to clear the table and ask if we want a dessert. We ordered dessert which did not take a long time to get to the table. However, again, there was a very long delay in clearing the table. We then had to ask someone to send over the waiter and bring us our check. That’s when another waiter came over with our check and asked us to pay promptly as we were sitting there three hours, and they needed the table!!!!! at this time it was only 630 so we were there 2 1/2 hours but it was not because we wanted to be there for 2 1/2 hours. Service was the most horrible I’ve ever had.

We entered around 2 pm in the afternoon. The restaurant was empty except for one couple. Three waiters at the bar talking loudly. We ordered some lunch with appetizers. Waiting for it, the VERY LOUD talking of the servers and the kitchen staff up front and at the open door to the kitchen in the back continued undiminished in Spanish and filled the whole place. Eventually, I went to the rear where everyone was having a good loud time and asked for a bit more quiet. What do you want, I was asked. Some quiet comfort for our lunch, I said. Then you should go to a church, I was told. Returning to our table, one of the waiters came and said, This is a casual place, as if to say, Bistro 44 has no ambition to be a good restaurant. I pointed to the handsome setup with white tablecloths, sparkly glassware, and delicate lighting. Anyway, he suggested we leave and we did. On our way out, my wife, who is a native Spanish speaker, said: ustedes hablaban muy alto y son muy maleducados. Nobody who cared seemed to be in charge of this place.

So disappointed.... The food was really poor. Calamari was soggy sweet, baked clams that claimed to have shallots and prosciutto was just bread crumbs and butter. The grouper had that ammonia smell that tells you its past it's prime. The bartender was sweating profusely. We felt bad for him but having him dripping sweat, wiping his brow and then handling food and drink was off-putting. Just can't ever return to this place. Consider yourself warned.

This place was horrible. We showed up and we ordered drinks and they were not as strong and we were talking about it and they overheard us so they came over and said “what about your attitude” and we were just really confused. We wanted a nice day out And after we left they threw a napkin at us. They didn’t compensate for how we felt and didn’t care that our drinks weren’t good very bad etiquette. Beyond disappointed with my trip.

TERRIBLE!!!!!! I told them I had a dairy allergy asked them about a dish and they told me no worries it just has a dash of cream! Ummm what? I just said I had a severe allergy? Then went on to order a seafood dish that was not cooked. Not one manager came over to apologize or check in. Not one American there to run the place except the bartender (who was frazzled and didn’t come over) I’m assuming she is an owner because everyone ran over to her to talk to her about my dish. The muscles had strings all throughout them with zero meat in them. The lobster had black meat that came out of it the size of my pinky, flopping around disgustingly. My husband is a fisherman and gets fish all the time I have never seen foul fish like this in my life. Two men came out of the kitchen in white coats (I’m assuming cooks) and stared the table down whispering after sending my fish back. They couldn’t believe I would not eat food like this. I wouldn’t even serve that to my dog. I actually just read other reviews of food poisoning after consuming the same seafood dish I ordered. My husband’s pork chop came out charred like a brick, they then recooked it, completely rare. I don’t know how people like this place. Major disappointment. An American manager should really check in and wake up.

We had a 615 reservation arrived at 6:20 wouldn’t see us because two or four were only there. The other couple arrived at 6:25 now 10 minutes after the appointed reservation time they had already given away the table ruining a Saturday night dinner and show experience. The hostess was cold condescending And non-apologetic. Will never go back.

Been coming here for the past 7 years. There’s been a decline in service and food in the past two years. We love the ambiance and eating locally but after the last three times we were there, we were very disappointed. The waitress was inattentive and it ruined the experience of eating out when you have to remind them to do their job; ask for drinks, ask for specials, ask for another drink, ask for a fork. I work hard and used to love splurging on myself here but lately it’s simply not worth my money anymore. Go to Old Fields Restaurant in Greenlawn instead! Also Bistro does not care about people with disabilities. It is VERY LOUD sitting at the tables. I have a hearing condition and we call ahead (at least 2 weeks) to reserve a booth (because with hyperacusis (hearing condition) it’s impossible to decipher between background noise and with people speaking to you- the booths offer less noise than sitting at the tables). Depending on who you talk to they don’t take reservations and then on weeknights if you decide to stop in and there’s no one there and you ask for a booth they say that the booths are there for reservations only. Also, if you book ahead of time (depending you who talk to) for a booth or a certain table, they don’t honor that reservation. There needs to be updated training so that everyone is on the same page over there. We’ve decided to stop going to Bistro because the servers hate people and we’re never allowed to sit in a booth with our party of four. (It was a hard decision to stop coming here because this WAS my favorite Northport restaurant and that’s why I tried it 3 more times (despite the decline in service) before finally deciding to make Old Fields Restaurant my new go-to spot for great ambience, great food & service!)

Why would you need an 100.00 deposit only for Christmas Eve. I don't understand, so we will be going to a different restaurant in Northport. They are worry if I cancel, so what why would you need to charge my card if i cancel.
