My family came here for lunch and we were very pleased with our experience. The staff was very friendly and accommodating and the prices were reasonable. They do have a small selection to choose from for lunch but the food we did order was very satisfying. The restaurant has a country kitchen feel which was enjoyable. Overall, my family enjoyed our experience here and I would recommend this restaurant to anyone
Delicious hot coffee and my eggs were cooked perfectly. Also tried their French toast and good as well. Nice and attentive staff. Will be back!!
Great diner! Delicious food, very friendly service that can't be beat. I had the croissant french toast with cream cheese, berries and whipped cream- delicious! You get your own carafe of coffee, which is excellent if you're a big coffee drinker like me. I'm definitely coming back and getting an omelette next time, I heard the farmer's omelette is really good.
Very friendly place, cute oldies decor. Food comes out so fast. Everything is delicious. Love the grits and sausage patties. U get a pitcher of coffee and a little milk jug. Music is throwback, like 90s.
The wait staff is always nice. I always order the fried chicken dinner but the burgers are good too. And of course my little one loves the banana, Nutella waffle. It's basically dessert but he loves it.
It's a nice cozy place with many good choices! We've been there a few times and have enjoyed ourselves. They have chicken- fried steak which my husband has been dying for, lol...They also have biscuits and gravy which he also enjoyed! We go there often now!
We have been visiting for many years. Never disapointed. Consistantly excelent service, food and atmosphere!! Thank you for being there for us.
Really great food at a reasonable price. Despite being crowded the food arrived quickly and accurately and the service was wonderful.
Great assortment of awesome home-cooked-style, large serving sized, really tasty dishes! Very family friendly! Super friendly, GREAT service! Northport is lucky to have Sweet Mama's! FIVE stars!
Cozy, warm, wonderful, place to go for a great meal. Excellent menu along with daily specials. Food is prepared beautifully, with fresh ingredients and served exactly how you ordered it. Service is excellent and the overall staff very friendly. Highly recommend it!
I’ve been coming to this restaurant for pretty much my entire life. The food is always excellent, and while it did go downhill for a while around 2012 or 2013, the food/dining experience is back to the way it used to be. Staff are all very friendly and many know regular diners by name. Overall not too expensive, and I absolutely recommend stopping in if you’re in the Northport area.
We ordered the chicken fried steak and the funky monkey french toast. The sausage gravy on the steak was not the traditional southern style white gravy that is very thick and heavy on the flour. That said, it was absolutely delicious! I liked it so much that I asked for extra. And the french toast....yum! So much nutella!
Great food, service and the coffee was very good too.. The menu was really different. Had a country style to it and the prices were reasonable. Wish I would have taken pictures! Definitely going back. FYI they only serve breakfast and lunch.😊
Excellent location for breakfast. One of the greatest on the North Shore. Not your typical. Excellent meal, service, and atmosphere. Both conventional food and more sophisticated options are available on the menu. Generous serving amounts are offered at fair prices. strongly advised.
Love ❤️this place. You're greeted by the staff in unison like they're singing. The service is great, and food 😋 is truly home cooked meal delicious 😋 😍 😀. It's mainly a take out place. There's only room for one person to eat. The place is clean. Staff is so polite. I would most definitely recommend anyone to eat here. Your belly will be full 😋 and happy 😊 😃. 😋😋😋😋😋
Super cute atmosphere, fully decorated for spring! Had an omelette, it was delicious and huge, and the home fries were so tasty!
We live twenty min away from sweet mamas restaurant and still go every couple of weeks. The food is good, and service is amazing. This week, we bought some friends and had a large group- called ahead and Karen had the table set up and ready for us- on a Sunday morning! Thanks Karen! Lovely local spot for good brunch!
Comparable to, if not better than Brownstones Coffee. One major difference I've noticed is that there was no wait for my party of 2 the past two Sundays. Anna was my 5 star server both times. One thing I really appreciate, a manager stops by each table to make sure everything is going well. Also, the staff is very warm. Great job
Great experience yesterday! While we waited for a table during lunch hour, they let me and my toddler sit at the counter and share a milkshake :) Everyone was super friendly. Our server, Erica, was very attentive and sweet! Food is delicious. You won't regret it!
Great breakfast place. One of the best on the North Shore. Nothing ordinary about it. Food, service, atmosphere, all outstanding. Menu has standards plus upscale dishes. Nice sized portions are accompanied by fair prices. Highly recommended.
The food and Staff were great. First time there, great breakfast!
go in Saturday morning the best staff you could ever have
Very nice and cozy place, the Christmas decoration was very quaint, despite the fact that there were several people waiting before us they gave us a quick table, also the service was very fast, less than 10 minutes to arrive with the food. Everything was delicious, definitely recommended.
Looking for a different type of breakfast? This is the place! Not your run of the mill menu. Yes they have pancakes, waffels, omelets and home fries, but they put a southern spin on them. All the plates I saw go by were overflowing with food. I had the bangers and something I can't remember. It was a cheese omelet on top of sausage, bacon & mushrooms. It was fantastic. My wife had a spin on eggs benedict with home fries. The hollandaise sause was awesome. Even the coffee was good. They have a full lunch and dinner menu and we will give those a try in the near future. The place is decorated in retro 50s with lots of seating and a counter with stools if you want you wait to be short, which will longer if you want a table. No matter the wait, it is so worth it. The prices are a little higher than other breakfast places but you get so much food.
Ive never been in the restaurant, I've ordered dilvery from here. Some of the best pasta I've had
Great food try the bbq bacon burger And order as an appetizer vegetable with rice soup
My husband and I were driving by and loved the name and outside of the restaurant so we stopped in. We were so welcomed with smiles by hostess and staff. The restaurant is so adorable with blue checkered tablecloths. Jill was so wonderful in giving us time and assistance in ordering. THE COFFEE IS TO DIE FOR! We ordered omelettes which were a good size. Prices are comparable. The atmosphere was sweet and charming. Loved loved our visit and we will definitely return even though it’s a 20 minute drive for us. Kudos SWEET MAMA! Thank you for a wonderful dining experience
Wednesday Night staff is the best Great customer service Especially. 100% Recommend this place
Nice down home restaurant. Food is excellent especially breakfast. Service is very good and friendly. Recommended for the whole family. And they have specials daily.
We had an excellent breakfast yesterday at Sweet Mama's! The atmosphere was very warm and cozy. The food was so tasty and delicious. The coffee was really good, too. And our server Anna, was extremely kind, sweet and attentive! We'll definitely come back for dinner soon! Thank you!♡
Service and food was great. We just walked in put our name down and called in 20 minutes. 👍🏻👍🏻
Had southern breakfast here and absolutely loved it. Even now, two weeks later, I'm drooling thinking about how good that breakfast was. Maybe I have a problem, or maybe life isn't worth living absent amazing eats. Delicious food, excellent service (treat you like family), and really cool decorations. Our server, Sherry, treated us like we've known each other forever - what a great lady! She was actively directing the elves on decorating for Christmas and it looked like a magazine in there!
Great service, great food. It’s a wondered staple in the community.
Sweet Mamas is a quaint full-service restaurant, in a 100y/o house. They serve Breakfast-Lunch-Dinner. Prices are reasonable. You get more food for the price. Service was great. There was no wait to be seated, staff was attentive and courteous. Great for families with children. My wife and I were able to eat and converse freely, while enjoying our meals, even though it was crowded. There is plenty of parking. The eating area appeared neat and clean, and taken care of. Will definately go back!!!
My wife and I really enjoyed our first time at Sweet Mama’s. The food was delicious!!! And came out reasonably quick. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly. Very comfortable relaxing atmosphere. We highly recommend.
Been here several times and it is our favorite place for Sunday brunch. Food is excellent, well prepared and plentiful. Omelettes, pancakes and my wife's favorite strawberry French toast. Prices comparable to local diners but selection and value superior. Outstanding service...love that they leave a carafe of coffee rather than having to constantly ask for refills. Highly recommended.
This place is truly amazing. From the moment you walk in until the time you leave, you feel right at home. The food is delicious — perfectly seasoned, not overdone — and the staff? Just wonderful. Warm, welcoming, and beautiful energy all around. I would recommend this place to anyone!
15+ years ago, Sweet Mama's was rather forlorn and so was their food. But as of 2024 they 've completely turned things around. The food is now consistently very good, fresh, and with generous portions for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their big breakfast combo platter is wonderful and a huge bargain compared to the measly servings of nearby diners. At dinnertime, their old-fashioned favorites include meatloaf, fried chicken, Thanksgiving-style turkey platters - - - even chicken fried steak. And the salad that comes with these entrees is the biggest, loveliest starter salad you'll find anywhere. Desserts are all fresh and amply-sized. Their carrot and chocolate cakes are big enough for two to share. Sweet Mama's has fully redeemed itself, and is a great local place for reliable quality comfort food at very reasonable prices.
The best corned beef hash I have ever had. Service was very friendly. Will definitely be back. Sweet old school vibes.
Love coming here, it’s such a cozy atmosphere, the food is always great, their pancakes are my kids favorite! Been coming here for 13 years! They don’t take reservations, usually on the weekends is a little bit of a wait, but it’s worth it. Highly recommend!
We stumbled upon Sweet Mammas on our drive. What a great find. The atmosphere is very farmhouse. They offered many food options. Our lunch was delicious. The service was also very good.
I never knew this place existed, but I'm so glad I found it. We went to the Northport location and happy to see one is in Stony Brook, I believe. The chicken wings and waffles, I got pancakes instead, so good. I just wanted the wings they were so flavorful. My daughter got the buffalo chicken Mac and cheese....so delicious! The coffee flight, was fun and yummy. We will definitely be back and the amount of food you get is for 2-3 meals.
This is the 2nd time I'm visiting this location (my grandson & I enjoyed the first visit).. Everybody when making eye contact greets you.. Today (Tuesday), our server Kenia M, brought big smiles to our table.. My wife & I enjoyed chatting with her.. My wife got the Mimosa Flight & I got the Spicy Fully Loaded Bloody Mary 😋.. My wife to her delight had the Hot Honey Mac & Cheese 😍.. I had the Hangover Skillet👍🏾, not that I was expecting a hangover 😆..
I’ve been coming to Sweet Mama’s since I was a kid and it’s such a consistent, comforting, and enjoyable dining experience. I go most often for breakfast, but their lunch and dinner menus are great too. The vibes are nostalgic and the food is just the same. I’m always so glad to be there when I am. My top breakfast recommendation is the spicy avocado benny. So good!
Great Southern style comfort food - eggs, pancakes, waffles etc. It's not the place to come for modest portions (even the kids menu is substantial) but you won't leave hungry. There were plenty of staff helping arrange seating and, despite the volume of traffic, they were good at keeping social distance and ensuring masks are worn (review is during COVID). Speedy turnaround of our order and really delicious food. Well worth it.
My wife and I stopped by Sweet Mama's for lunch and it was fantastic. I had the vegetable omelette that was cooked perfectly as were the home fries. My wife had the California grilled cheese sandwich which she really enjoyed. But best of all were the onion rings, possibly the best I ever had. It was a great lunch and I highly recommend this restaurant!
N ice breakfast place service excellent
Huge portions! Food is pretty good but it took a while to get. It was a busy morning but we sat for 10 minutes before we were addressed. I think it was understaffed. A bit pricey for just eggs and bacon which I ordered.
Unfortunately was super disappointed this visit. We have had issues in the past with the service but we came back because we liked the chicken fried steak. The service again was terrible! But what got me this time was that when I went to use the restroom which I have not had to do before it was disgusting! I don't think it's been cleaned in a long time and because of that we will not be back! I find it interesting that they can have multiple hostesses standing around but nobody has time to clean the restroom? Again, super disappointing...
Had a family breakfast there. Nice intimate place. Food proportions are generous. Service was a tad slow but not awful. I thought the prices were a bit high, but I guess everything nowadays is prices high.
Great experience except for the noise level outside, definitely go, but definitely sit inside.
Creative menu. A little on the too-sweet side but everything is fantastic. Hollandaise sauce is the right side of rich vs. balanced. Definitely order the home fries they have a similar taste as Nathan Crinkly fries
The food was awesome. The pot roast was delicious. The price wasn't felt like they were trying to do fine dining in a diner setting and came up short in both. The dishes were clearly trying really hard to justify the upcharge, but when you go to a diner called sweet mama's, you expect country comfort, not slick city food. Waitress had us feeling abandoned, and when you're paying four bucks for a heavily iced coke, a refill would be nice.
We enjoyed our visit--only a 15 minute wait late Sunday morning. The toast and home fries were for sure the stars of the show for me but everything was pretty tasty. My husband and two small kids and I got the "Big Daddy" combo and the combo with potato pancakes (Pappy's, I think...) to split and none of us left hungry for sure. They were busy and the place was fairly small and we were waiting for our server a few times. But she was super nice and so accommodating to our kids which was great.
This is a wonderful restaurant. The food has been consistently good, flavorful and well prepared. The management is very agreeable and customer-focused while the waitstaff provides very friendly and attentive service. We were a large party of twelve eating various dinner items from the menu including the mushroom soup, chicken orzo soup, meatloaf, sole, and delicious steak and shrimp. Each item arrived well seasoned, hot, and in surprisingly ample portions. I will definitely return.
Went here for my husband’s 30th birthday brunch with a group and it was such a nice choice for a celebration. The menu has something for everyone, and the food was satisfying and comforting, exactly what you want for brunch. Portions were generous and it had a warm, bustling vibe. Service was friendly, though with a group it took a little time for everything to come out together. Overall a really solid brunch spot with a lovely atmosphere.
We've eaten at Sweet Mama's for years. Food and service is always great. Not huge fans of their coffee (it's too weak) but, other than that, the food is yummy.
This is a well known restaurant in the Northport area. Popular with locals for breakfast and lunch. Crowded on Sunday for brunch. Clean facilities. Food is good. No muffins available. On the more expensive side. Card payments are accepted. Give it a try if you’re in the area. Compatible to your favorite local diner.
Great place. We just finished up a late lunch at Sweet Mama's. The food was great, the menu looked good, many options to pick from. 👍 I would go back for sure. The place was clean, it was comfortable environment. Our waitress Sherry was a doll. I didn't get the guys name but even the bus was attentive. Great service! I liked it, the wife liked it and kids liked it, good stuff Sweet Mama's!
Great breakfast spot with good service. Unfortunately, they seem to fall apart after breakfast. The few times I tried lunch or dinner here weren't great.
It is a good Americana place. Homey and large portions. Not cheap though for breakfast or brunch but the food is fresh and you can ask for non dairy just don't expect full vegan. But they try to give you options. This is my first time though. Went in a Monday early afternoon so it wasn't crowded and it felt like a week end:people were out on the bay walking their dogs and checking the local stores as we did!🙃
We wanted a breakfast in a nice memorable place. It met that but we didn't find any real gluten free foods. My wife is full vegan and I am full gluten-free and lactose intolerance.. we did order and the food was good 👍🏾. They do need to up the menu to cater to the vegans and gluten-free folks 😋.
Borderline tacky atmosphere, if busy the service can't keep up, but food is excellent avoid the fried foods for health
The decor is cute, and our server was very friendly and attentive and hard-working. Unfortunately the restaurant is quite dirty. Tables seemed clean, but every window was dirty, vents caked in dust and the bathroom was smelly and visibly dirty. The food was prepared ok, but they need to change their oil- anything cooked in it was very stale and off tasting (including bacon which I wish they wouldn’t drop in the fryer- it may be crispy, but tastes awful). If they just cleaned up and ran a tighter kitchen, it’s be a great neighborhood spot.
I've been here a few times before. Quality of the food seems to have dropped off. From the last time I was there a 2-3 years ago. It was clean and everyone was nice and courteous. The number of items on the menu has also decreased. Prices are reasonable.
Very disappointed. This used to be the best place around for breakfast. But the quality has been declining and my last visit was awful. The eggs were cold, the water for brewing tea was barely lukewarm, and the pancakes were very dry and hard. The service was very slow and while the first waitress was very accomodating, the second waitress acted like we were bothering her. I haven't been back.
I’m currently sitting at my table at Sweet Mama’s and have been waiting over an hour for food, so thought I might as well leave a review while I continue to wait. It took at least 10 minutes for a waitress to come over to us. Our waitress is very nice / polite but at this point I don’t even care what the food tastes like - absolutely horrible service. The couple next to us just walked out because they waited so long for coffee. So disappointed, I will not be back.
We unfortunately had a horrible experience today. Over breaded cold oil soaked greasy food. Best part of the meal was biscuits & coffee. What happened to this place used to be amazing used to love to come here with family and friends that came to visit. My recommendation is stay away. Northport has many great places for breakfast or brunch lunch check those out instead! Oh we sat outside and it was bee city ya think you would do something after all these years.
Food is gross. I had to cut pancakes with a knife because they were brick like. The eggs were even ick. Only good thing was the bacon and toast. This is my second time in the past month and both times were gross. Not worth the money. Also sits on your stomach for hours. 🤢🤢
Sorry to report Sweet Mama's isn't as good as it was. Very disappointed. Ordered cheddar and bacon omelet, toast and fries. Egg totally over done, bacon tasted like the fryer oil is old...faint fishy taste maybe? Hate to say it but this visit was to give it one more chance because the last time food wasn't so good. The service is always good and friendly though. It's a shame because I really enjoyed the food before.
My 2nd time here, quite disturbing to say the least. I ordered the Chicken Steak w/gravy and it was a huge disappointment. The biscuits were dry, hard & stale and the Chicken Steak was not fresh, appeared precooked and probably microwaved. Fried eggs were bland with practically no yolk. I could & would not finish this meal even if I was hungry. This was the poorest presentation of breakfast, overpriced and not worth it. Next time, I'll go elsewhere.
If I could give 0 stars I would. The restaurant had poor food, awful service, and a terrible atmosphere. What is worse is, I did not add a tip yet they thought it would be ok to charge my card an extra $10 and I would not notice. A tip is DESERVED not mandatory. The restaurant did not deserve a tip and tried to STEAL money from me. When confronted, they refused to agree and I had to initiate a dispute with my card company. I will definately take as much action required to get this resolved. DO NOT go to this restaurant. It steals and is not worth what they charge you.
Soo disappointed.. went on a Sunday at 230. 1 waitress she was great. The food horrible came out luke warm ,home fries where so hard, must have been sitting under heat since am. Bacon was petrified sausage looked the same.... yes they filled our order, but did anyone look at what it looked like????? To actually put that on our table and mot think wow that looks bad... shame. Cute place but needs new cook.......
I've been to Sweet Mama's several times. The last time I was at the Restaurant it was fantastic!! Sweet Mama's is under new management now.The food was cold and tasted horrible. The quality of the food n service has declined. Literally that was the worst dinner I've ever had. The menu on the web site is out dated. The waitress did the best she could. The manager was not aware that sweet Mama's accepted Chamber of commerce coupons. She had to call the owner to ask if they can accept the coupons. The manager turned customers away earlier in the day with chamber of commerce coupons. She didn't even know how to give me my change back.... I had to correct her. UNBELIEVABLE!!!! I was very disappointed and I will not go back to the Restaurant at this time. I will not recommend the Restaurant to anyone.
Have eaten at Sweet Mamas a few times over the years and it was always mediocre but after my last experience I will not be returning. Our server was lovely however the food was terrible. Ordered an unsweetened iced tea and I'm honestly not sure what the beverage I was served was. It tasted unlike anything I've ever drank and nobody at my table could tell either. Ended up swapping for water instead. Opted for French onion soup with appetizer of crab cakes for dinner. The soup was serviceable but the "crab" cakes tasted like spoiled imitation crab. One bite and I was done. Completely awful.
I felt like I was being punked that's how bad the food was. The Mac and cheese, the taste was so off the cheese tasted old. We both ordered steak and shrimp, I don't even know where to start on what tasted worse and how under seasoned everything on my plate was. I had a bug in my drink and the replacement wasn't any better, flat root beer. I usually give places 2 tries just in case they had an off night, fortunately for me but unfortunately for them was not feeling that generous. Paige our waitress was a gem, she was very sweet and extremely friendly.
This place is complete garbage. They lie to you on wait times. Then when they seat you no one comes to serve you. They served two parties that came after us we didn’t even see a waitress or waiter till we got up and was getting ready to walk out. Couldn’t say anything about the food it looked good from what all the other customers were eating even the ones that came after us. The place was not busy they sat us in a tiny table a party of 4, and sat a party of 2 at the big table. Went to brownstones down the block and got seated and served in a timely fashion as was a lot more busier then this place
Tried this place for the second time, but this time I ordered takeout. The chicken cutlet was bland, and the containers for the fries and coleslaw were barely half full. Definitely not worth the money.
