My wife and I truly enjoyed our dining experience on 01/25/20. From the greeter at the door to our dessert the experience was fantastic. I would recommend when making a table reservation, you first reserve our server, Catherine. She was absolutely great, very attentive, knowledgeable, and accommodating to any and all our requests. Amazing restaurant! I am out of state and my mom, who lives in Great River, was celebrating her birthday. On a busy night I called in a cc, told the bartender, and had a round of drinks bought for her and her friends and they executed the request perfectly. My mom had an amazing night and I was able to surprise her from a few states over! Amazing people and amazing food (I had a ribeye last time I visited) ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We saw the great reviews on Google and came to try it for ourselves. I have to say, this might be my favorite steakhouse I’ve had. The sides, and the steak were all absolutely perfect. The atmosphere was amazing and our service was perfect. Cannot wait to be back.

Went here for my birthday. The is a quaint old house in the residential section of Great River. The staff was friendly courteous and professional. Service was quick and very attentive. The food was amazing. We started with bacon wrapped shrimp to share, they brought out 4 large shrimp wrapped in meaty bacon and a tasty drizzle over it. I had the rib eye which was flavorful, tender and large. My friend had the GM strip steak which was the same. The burnt Brussel sprouts with bacon and Blu cheese was incredible and the asparagus was tender and not at all bitter. The cheese cake is NY style with a raspberry drizzle and was moist but not soggy and the warm chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream which both sound rather run of the mill were not a disappointment in any way. The cappuccinos were frothy and I like how they took the time to layer each ingredient. This place is small, but a gem and you definitely need reservations. Highly recommended.

This place is said to be the best steakhouse on Long Island.... It is. I'd go so far as to say it is probably the best in all of New York. Best steakhouse on Long Island! Great food, great service, cozy atmosphere. Had the cowboy cut ribeye. It was well seasoned and cooked to perfection. Brussel sprouts with bacon and blue cheese and creamed spinach for the table were spot on delicious. Calamari was tender and crispy, and the lobster crab cheese dip was great for sharing. My old fashioned was one of the best I’ve had. I celebrated my 40th birthday there and they gave me a $25 gift card at the end. Will definitely return again!

Strip Steak is a classy place in a classy location. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, A+ food and drink, The skirt steak is mind blowing. Extensive wine list is always a plus. Live music on the weekends. You can’t go wrong here.

One of my favorite steak houses on Long Island. My steak was cooked to perfection. I requested it rare "Pittsburgh" and they got it right (not everyone can) . Will definitely be coming back again.

We celebrated our anniversary by dining outdoors, despite the chilly weather. Fortunately, they had heaters arranged for our comfort. The addition of wine truly enhanced the evening. The appetizers that arrived were exceptional. The French onion soup was the best I have ever tasted. We also ordered calamari, which was incredibly crispy and delicious. The wedge salad was a perfect precursor to the steak that my wife and I shared, which was simply outstanding. Without a doubt, it was the finest steak available in Suffolk.

1st time visiting, celebrated my mother's 75th birthday. Food and service was fantastic. Nice little room where we were seated with our reservation. Overall couldn't have asked for a nicer atmosphere with great food and service.

Waitresses were very friendly we went out for Restaurant Week for $ 28.95 I got appetizer entree and dessert appetizer I got tuna Tata entree I got it skirt steak with garlic mashed potatoes and spinach desert I got two small cannolis everything was delicious portions are average.

We have been trying to get here for what seems like forever. The staff was super friendly. The popovers (yes they have popovers!) were a little overdone, but still good. The steak was fantastic. The chicken breast was so soft it could be cut with a fork! The patrons at the bar were a bit loud and with the acoustics of the building, it made it very difficult to have a conversation at the table. However, we loved it here.

Everything is always top notch at strip steak. My favorite neighborhood steak house. Can’t recommend this place enough. The chef and kitchen staff are so talented and the drinks are delicious too. My wife’s favorite date night spot. The wife and I have been here about once a month since we discovered it last year. The speak easy feel of the place is awesome! The drinks are amazing and the service has never disappointed. Another point that’s worth mentioning, they’ve never missed when it came to my steaks cooked temperature.

This was my first time visiting this restaurant and it will definitely not be my last. A truly excellent dining experience. We were accommodated to a table far away from the live music, and our server was extremely sweet . From the Bacon wrapped shrimp, to the phenomenally seasoned and/or marinated New York bone in strip steak through the generous portion of a dessert,, it is definitely a five star experience. If there was anything I could have been disappointed in, it was that they did not carry a sweet Moscato white wine like Seven Daughters. Obviously it’s not very popular, otherwise, I’m guessing they would stock it. They did find me a Riesling,, but I only had one glass, where I normally would’ve had two or three of a Moscato. All in all, I would recommend this to anybody and everybody who wants a great meal and a Wonderful night out..

Great place to eat and enjoy a fine meal. We were told it is was an old speakeasy and it is decorated to feel as such. The food and service were excellent. I has the strip steak with a soy marinade and it was perfect as well as the maple glazed sweet potatoes. The chocolate slice was enormous

This classy Restaurant is only about 30 seconds from my home. I am very fortunate to live so close by. Me and my girlfriend Trish can walk there in a few minutes (5), have a drink or 2, put on a glow and not worry about getting behind the wheel. They make a Bloody Mary like none you have ever had. It comes with a Jumbo shrimp and a nice tasty piece of pork fat that is practically a meal in itself. Now I'm sure there are tons of folk that live near other establishments that can do the same thing (walk to a watering hole). But unfortunately for them, it is highly unlikely that they can also dine on the most incredible food your money can buy, like Trish and I can. While their prices are not low, you get more than what you pay for. Your dollar goes a long way as their generous portions often easily afford you a second meal at home. The people are extremely personable and will go out of their way to make sure you are happy with everything they have to offer. The only restaurant in town and all you will ever need to thoroughly delight your appetite.

My wife and I went here about 6 months ago and just went back again because we loved it so much. I got the Delmonico Ribeye and the GM Strip. My wife got the Short Ribs both times because they are that good.

My grandfather owned the best steak house in Brooklyn, and I grew up knowing what it was to eat a top of the line steak. I can tell you that I have not been impressed until I stepped into this place. The food was only matched by the impeccable service. I had the pleasure of meeting the manager Sean upon my visit, and I’ve never encountered that level of professionalism in service in my life. It was my first time there, and Sean made my group feel like we were frank sinatra in his prime. I could not say enough about how awesome the experience as for my family and I. Huge shoutout to the whole staff for knowing what it is to run not only my new favorite steak house, but seriously making our whole night. Will be back as often as I can.

By far the best steakhouse on long island!! Went here to celebrate a life milestone and they did not dissapoint. They offer a great price fixe menu if you want luxury on a budget also. Got the lobster fontina and crab fondue as a starter and WOW it was the best thing I have ever tasted! Got the wagyu sirloin and it was juicy, tender, flavorful and cooked to perfection. The server was amazing, very polite and helpful. Atmosphere is warm and intimate. They also have a room you can book to have a more private event as well. Can not recommend this steakhouse enough.

The service was impeccable—our server Andrew was attentive, friendly, and went above and beyond to ensure we had a fantastic dining experience and the food was absolutely delicious!

We went for my husbands birthday and it was the most pleasant experience we have had in years. Our waiter Phillip was the best. The food was cooked to perfection. Out of this world amazing. We had the burrata appetizer, entrees porter house for two, filet minion, lobster, cream spinach, mashed potatoes, asparagus and the rolls were warm with sweet creamy butter on the side. Dessert was the pineapple upside down cake and the tiramisu. We sat by the fireplace and it was warm and cozy. I can't say enough about how great this place is. You will have to try it We will be back for my Birthday.

We had a party of 7 celebrating our son's 16th birthday and everyone loved their dinner. We had the strip steak, filet, salmon, pork chop, shrimp scampi...everything was outstanding. They surprised our son with a brownie sundae and also gave us a $25 gift card. No question we will be back. Phillip our server was friendly, accommodating, and attentive without hovering. My husband and I were celabrating or wedding anniversary. To our surprise, our server brought us each a complimentary glass of sparkling wine to celebrate! I ordered the braised short ribs and my husband had the strip steak. Everything was cooked the way we requested and was excellent. The portions were generous but not ridiculously so. There was live entertainment , a man and his guitar. He was not too loud as I had read in past reviews. The cocktails were good as well as the dessert. We had the apple crumble. We didn't feel rushed at all. The prices were on par with other steak houses we've been to. It was a very pleasant dinner and I look forward to returning.

We haven't been here in some time. Reservations are not easy to come by unless you book weeks in advance. We shared the (deconstructed) Caesar salad, 2 petite filet mignons with mushroom bordelaise sauce & parmesan french fries. Brought our own bottle of Caymus for a $25 corkage fee. Christa, our server was very attentive despite it being very busy. The restaurant was at capacity as expected for a Saturday night & tables were were quickly reset. Bar was very crowded too. Live music contributed to the overall atmosphere

What an amazing place with great atmosphere, friendly staff and food to die for! I had such a wonderful experience here and it's the first time I was able to enjoy a steak dinner since the pandemic started. I'm not fully comfortable eating indoors yet but this place offers great outside seating options that are extremely comfortable. Our waiter Phil was the best at making sure our time was enjoyable and did a great job at describing everything and making sure we were fully taken care of. The food here is out of this world! Everything was prepared as expected and portions are more than enough. On top of all that, the prices were more than reasonable for the type of food you're getting and location. Location is in the middle of a residential part of LI which made it unique on its own and added to the charm of this place. If you're ever in the area and in the mood for great steak, I can't recommend this place enough!

First time here at great river. Food was good service was good. Room was small with 4 tables. It got alittle loud. They asked when making the reservation if we were celebrating anything my husband told them we were celebrating our anniversary. It was not even acknowledged. I don’t know why they would bother asking.

Great atmosphere and great food. Not NYC steakhouse quality but certainly not as expensive. Great option for good food, good service at a local restaurant that is close to home.

Overall a great experience. The outdoor dining area has been expanded, providing a lovely alternative to the noisy indoor environment. Went for a birthday dinner. Ordered Surf and Turf; filet and added Lobster Tail. We were surprised when the Lobster came, it was a spiny Lobster (warm water) We were expecting a nice Red Maine Lobster. They taste much different (Maine Lobster is much better; buttery flavor and less tough)

Not super impressed with this steakhouse. The food wasn’t great. The service and the atmosphere was fantastic. Our server was really spot on. No complaints about him whatsoever. The food was overpriced for the quality. Lobster Mac n cheese was not good. I do like the place but don’t love the food.

Went for dinner. Waitress was great, our food and drinks were also great. The only reason I could not give 5 stars would be that my steak side was not packed when they packed our leftovers. And the tins seemed to be thrown in the bag crushing the food causing leaks. I ordered the truffle butter with my steak, and I was very disappointed to make it home to.see it wasn't packed, especially at $6 a topping.

Love the Thursday night $60 dinner deal, many options! Theor chopped salad with herb house dressing is sooo good and the Riley never disappoints!

The side dishes, macaroni and cheese, shrimp, and salad were just ok considering the exorbitant prices charged. The porterhouse steak was ok again with $150.00 price tag.

We eat here a lot and just had 14 for dinner in back room. Only complaint I have is that last visit. The pork belly was salty, tough and basically crap. I don't know what happened because service and food is always top notch. Oh yeah, the rice with my sea bass special was inedible because the reduction sauce was soaked up by it and densely sour and bitter. Those are my only complaints in numerous visits and really just a shout out for you to take a closer look. This is the best restaurant in the area that I know of. It blows Tellers out of the water. Ample room to enjoy your meal unlike the clown car seating at Tellers.

EDIT TO RESPOND TO BUSINESS- no, you did not "ask" for anyone to be quiet. An ask would require you asking a question or making a request; you did neither of those things. Instead, you walked by the table with your cardigan sweater basically covering your face and passively made a comment that was just loud enough to be heard; that is NOT an ask. We would have been more than fine with any polite request, but your approach was embarrassing to say the least. As a seasoned and highly educated businessperson myself, I cringed at this poor customer service decision. If you needed to address a complaint (strange being that the restaurant was near empty at this time), just be an adult and a professional and approach the table with your concern. It's as simple as that! People do not respond well to passive aggressiveness. That's just basic human nature. Also, no one was "running" on the booths. Review your video footage if you need a refresher. The only person standing on a the booth for a small part of the evening was a small was a 2 year old baby. Facts are what matter, not your version of the truth. ---- I've been here a couple times and dine out in general often, so I will say that the food is excellent and I like the decor. However, this recent visit is what is making my rating lower. I was here with 9 people for my mom's bday, 4 of which were little kids, which I stated when I made the reservation (btw, you have to keep calling for a reservation for large parties because they do not check voicemails and cannot book big parties online). Anyway, we are here around 5pm for our reservation and this was the time they opened, so wasn't really crowded yet and my 2 year old niece was singing a nursery rhyme (note- not crying or anything!) and the alleged manager (woman in her 60s) walks by passively saying "umm other people are dining here too, need to be quiet" like are you kidding me lady? I never witnessed rude behavior like this from a restaurant manager or staffer in my life and I, myself, was a server for years while in college. It was just uncalled for especially when we easily spent $1000 on dinner, but 2 mins of a baby babbling a song warranted a nasty remark. If she were my employee, that would be her last shift. And if this restaurant wants to have a no kid policy, then enact one, otherwise be respectful of all your guests no matter their age. Our server and rest of the staff was lovely though.

We are just regular people. We had a 200.00 gift certificate for our 38 year wedding anniversary and were excited about going here. The waitress came around and told us about the specials. She mentioned a Tomahawk steak, I picked that, my wife got a steak on the menu for about 68.00, I Never Asked the price of the tomahawk, she didn't advise us of the price. My steak was good but had a LOT of fat on it. The bill comes and we find out that my Tomahawk steak special was $189.00!!!! The most expensive meal on the menu for two, was around $165.00 We were SHOCKED our waitress never mentioned the price on something SO EXPENSIVE. I guess it was my fault also for not asking, but I feel at that price she SHOULD have said something. After Complaining, The manager took $25.00 off the check. The waitress NEVER came back to our table. So the bottom line is we were having a nice time until the BILL CAME. I feel we got ripped off, that Steak was NOT worth the money. My husband & I have been to this restaurant several times & always enjoyed their Porterhouse Steak for two. Unfortunately, we went tonight & were disappointed. The service was excellent but the Porterhouse didn’t taste like a “prime” steak to us at all. It was also much smaller than usual & didn’t have any taste. My husband had to use the steak sauce to eat it. At a cost of $140 it should have tasted a lot better.

On the night I went with my family the food was great. The food wasn’t the problem the service was. Albeit a sweet waitress she was missing in action most of the night. Disappeared after dropping off drinks we needed refills on some sodas for the kids and she was no where in sight and the restaurant was not crowded at this point. So I have no clue what she could have been doing. We had to make room on the table for the meals when they came out because there was several empty glasses and an old bread basket in the way the kitchen guy had to move it all off. These are things the waitress does if she’s doing her job. It was an expensive meal so I expect great service. The entrees were also very slow to come out after the appetizers. I don’t know if that was the waitress’s fault or the kitchens fault.

Sometimes convenience saves the day....George Martin’s is a convenient place for a steak dinner...fairly presented, capable service and interesting cocktail choices. Nothing really special and the service was not comparable to the menu price ( a key metric for me). But again, it was convenient to get to, last minute tables available and (standing almost in the entryway) some enjoyable live music. A bit dark inside and a surprising art selection for the walls. Stop by and see what you think!

I have no idea how this place has such raving reviews. I had to try it because I been to all the other amazing steakhouses Long Island has to offer. It was meh. Yea the steak was good but that’s about it. The sides and apps were meh and the atmosphere was not my style at all. Back to insignia and tellers for me

Another restaurant not in control of their own profits. Had a 8:15 pm reservation, yea late on a Thursday night, have to taste that food and see what its all about. We get there at 8 and wait and wait and wait and wait until 8:50 because a table that paid already has the self absorbed audacity to now sit and talk for another 30 minutes, this is akin to driving at 40mph in the left lane of an interstate. Anyway the younger girls that were at the front were apologetic but no one would go tell them to pick themselves up and get going as this is a restaurant and not your dining room so they have to make more money. This is a poor business decision and mostly why this is a 2 star review plus the elderly woman who also seems to work there who has more attitude than friendliness. There were plenty of tables available but none for a party of 6 and they apparently don't plan it out because there was a few tables where they could've combined them to make 6 seats but nah why do that when you can just make us wait. Anyhow, after finally being seated the waitress was great and probably an asset to this place but other than that there was nothign special about the steak to make me go there again and be treated rudely by the elderly lady at the front. Food was good and so was her service, thats it. Lastly upon leaving the elderly lady felt the need to make a point that we only had to wait 35 min and not 40, great job lady, you made your point. I'll take my business elsewhere, thank you.

It had been many years since we had last dined at George Martin’s Strip Steak, so we were genuinely looking forward to returning. We went last evening with another couple expecting a great night out, but unfortunately were extremely disappointed with the food, service, and overall atmosphere. We were seated in a very small room with four tables packed tightly together, which made the space feel cramped and uncomfortable; far from the upscale dining experience the restaurant presents itself to be. We waited a full 20 minutes before anyone came to take our drink order. The restaurant was clearly busy and appeared to be short staffed, and unfortunately the service throughout the evening remained slow and inattentive. We understand that the restaurant is expensive and that everything is à la carte, we knew that going in and have no issue paying for quality. However, the food simply did not deliver. At that price point, you expect exceptional meals, and unfortunately that was not the case. The dishes were underwhelming and not at all worth the cost. Very disappointing experience overall. I think it goes without saying that we will not be back.

Don't trust them for a special occasion! Made reservations well in advance. Waited 1 hour and 10 minutes past our reservation time, still no table.  If you cannot accommodate a reservation, don't make it.  Folks all around us at the bar were seated and yet we were kept waiting.  (Only a party of 4)  Empty reassurances that the previous table was already paying for at least 45 min.  No complementary round of drinks, no bread, no apps-- not even an offer of a gift card to compensate for the ruined birthday dinner.  The manager hid, happy to have her staff send messages, as she watched across from across the room until I insisted the second time to speak to her myself.  The only thing she offered was to allow us to "stay as long as you want".  $100+ bar tab later, we walked out.  Certainly not the place it used to be.

Food came out cold….. ribeye, salmon, garlic mashed potatoes, asparagus all came out cold. The only thing that came out hot was the lobster tail and the lobster mac & cheese. It would’ve been fine if we could have told our waitress, but we did not even have a chance to tell them to put the steak back on to warm up,, did not see her for 45 minutes. We were waiting to order an additional drink after dinner was served for at least 30 minutes. Was tempted to get up and walk around and ask for the waitress, but decided to eat a cold steak, which by the way was a very good cut and very tasty but very very very very, very cold. in addition, we had a bottle of flat water which we finished and we’re dying for some more water and didn’t even have a chance to order another bottle of water, Kind of insane when you think about it, you could not even order water so ridiculous!!!!!

My wife and I looked forward to celebrating our anniversary at George Martin Stripsteak, but we're very disappointed. My request for a table in the "fireplace dining room" was not written down when I made my reservation and we ended up binge seated in the back under the sloped roof that proved to be very noisy. My wife ordered a NY strip for ,$65 that had a bland taste. I ordered stuffed shrimp that cost $65

I took my family for dinner tonight at Strip Steak steakhouse, in Great River. I purchased a $100 e-gift card for my husband last Christmas, which I printed on my computer. When it came time to pay the bill, the waitress said my e- gift card did not have a code they needed. I asked to see the manager and Liz Malfa (the owner) came to speak with me. I explained with tears in my eyes, that I had bought the card for my husband last Christmas and we never got to use it because he suddenly became sick and passed in June. She didn’t want to hear it and said without the code she couldn’t accept it. I asked for the check and after much discussion, she said she would only take $50 off the check. When I didn’t respond she said, “Well do you want it or not?” Ms. Malfa’s said it with such an attitude that my 18 year old grandson wanted to know what was with her nasty attitude. I questioned her again, why if she could take off $50 , why couldn’t she take off the $100 I had paid for the e-card? She just said she wouldn’t! Long story short, she left a very sad, bad taste in my families mouths, plus she kept my $50, from the $100 I paid for the gift card. On another note the pictures on the walls of the restaurant with all the naked woman are definitely pornography and definitely not artistic. I was surprised a woman who owns this restaurant, would want such degrading pictures of women in her restaurant!! I guess this particular woman has no heart and bad taste in art!
