Opinions de Flower Lounge Restaurant Oakland
Really good food here at a reasonable price. Staff are very pleasant and efficient. The dinner platter specials are welcome - you get an amazing amount of food - appetizers, large soup (terrific wonton soup with lots of fresh veggies) and entree with lots of rice - I could have shared my one meal with another person easy. Had the eggplant with garlic sauce and it was very fresh and delicious - sauce was tasty, eggplant was not over cooked and the water chestnuts gave a nice crunchy contrast. Parking is convenient with the free parking lot located a block away behind the commercial buildings along Fruitvale Ave (behind Peets Coffee), so you don;t have to search endlessly for parking on the street. Family friendly and very welcoming. Spartan interior but nice and clean and spacious. Look forward to coming back again!
Omg delicious Chinese food, great prize and excellent portions... also service was great! We got there right 4pm so technically "dinner time". But they had a dinner special that included an appetizer, soup and full plate of food; choice between rice, chow mein or fried rice and the main dish. We ordered 2 of these specials and a plate of beef chow fun. The food as I said was delicious and we are a family of 4 and we had plenty left overs. I would recommended people to share as it is plenty of food but itlf you order two definitely enough for 2 meals worth. We will definitely be returning when we are back in Oakland!!! I will add a slight side note, we had gone to Oakland to visit the Chabot Space museum and this is only 10 min away from this. Perfect time wise after exploring.
Man, All I can say is... There is someone in that Kitchen tired of the work, but putting all the love and effort they can give into this food! These vegetables stay al dente never had a mushy vegetable. The meat is so tender. The sauce...listen I need this recipe. My favorite dish Is Kung Pao beef no peanuts. And man It never disappoints. I'm picky, I came from the East Coast, Washington state and now the Bay. I've been a customer for years. They give me the flavors, textures, and fragrances I seek. Thank you for staying consistent and just damn good food! Y'all give me good food memories.
Best Chinese food in town, hands-down. I will definitely be coming back soon. Bbq pork Chow mein was 10 out of 10 Fried rice was 10 out of 10 Best dry fry ribs I’ve ever had Sweet-and-sour chicken was on point And goalie and beef was perfect meat was tender, not chewy. Eggrolls were also good Service was good. All employees were very polite and kind.
Instant 5 stars Today was the first time I ate food from this place. I'm literally still eating it. If I died this afternoon, I'd die happy. The sesame chicken tastes like heaven. The rice with the egg gravy is making me a better human just by looking at it. The pot stickers, whoever made those deserves an award from every imaginable awards ceremony. Eat here.
Staff are so kind to everyone. The food is great. Best Chinese takeout 🥡 in Oakland!! They were extremely accommodating to my seafood/fish allergy and I felt like they totally understood my food needs. I got the chicken corn soup, chicken noodle soup, chicken fried rice, Kung pao chicken, hot and sour soup. The chicken in the soup is plain as expected. It’s tender. The skinny egg noodles in it were really satisfying. I asked for everything spicy and they gave me a lot of hot chili oil. All the veggies in the dishes were so fresh and crispy. The spring rolls were extremely fresh and hot. By far my favorite part was the spring rolls! This restaurant is takeout only, but they let me sit inside and wait for my food. Really friendly staff!
This is not a fancy restaurant however, both the service and food are excellent. The simplicity of this restaurant reminds me of the 1950´s with personal service by two Chinese women complete with accents. The food is always well prepared and tasty. There is always a bit more to eat than is necessary however, it is so delicious that I eat every bite. They do a big lunch and carry out business as well as table seating.
This restaurant is filled with the nicest humans I’ve ever met. Anyone I’ve ever spoken to when ordering take out or delivery has been so nice and accommodating. The food is really great and I always look forward to ordering from them. Would highly recommend this really great restaurant owned and operated by really lovely people.
The food is freshly made not too greasy. Great portions. Highly recommended. Servers super sweet and friendly. Very accommodating and attentive
Happy to find this spot I’ve driven by a million times without noticing! Got the veggie and beef chow main - I’m always ready for some sad carrots and maybe some broccoli so was very happy to have lots of delicious baby bok choy in this!! Very tasty and a lot of food, not too salty or greasy and great noodles. The staff was very kind.
This is one of my favorite Chinese restaurant in Oakland. Price is unbeatable. I don't know how they do it, but I usually pay less than $8 for lunch and it feeds me very well. You may be able to find some cheap Chinese restaurant around, but the taste is not good as there and soup is free. The ladies working there are very friendly and helpful. They also treat me like friend and remember me after my first visit.
Great, awesome, excellent service. The women at the counter seamlessly takes the order in English, passes it along in Cantonese to staff then breaks into Spanish to another customer. . She even took my phone order at 9:27 simply because she recognized my number! I live in the Dimond and this is my go-to for Chinese take out and I am so grateful that the neighborhood go to Chinese place is quite good, worth a get out of your hood and come to mine experience. Fried rice is the bomb. My favorite, broccoli beef and the bf's orange chicken are always excellent. Tons of fortune cookies come with each order. For price, service and quality, this is the best you can want in take out! never actually eaten in the space, hardly ever see anyone in there. Must thrive on take out...
Highly recommend, fresh fast authentic. Ask for the off the menu stuff, the stuff that the chefs and workers eat. It doesn't disappoint 🙌🏻
Great food, nice people, good price. I live around the corner and come here frequently. I have even stopped by to pick up chopsticks when I tried to recreate one of their dishes on my own (there food turned out better of course).
Extremely kind service. My dad and I are regulars and they always greet us warmly like family. He's first-generation Cantonese and he loves this place.
The food is cheap, authentic and flavourful - I especially enjoyed the soups (hot and spicy, seafood). Service was attentive and friendly and we didn't wait very long for the food to be prepared. The ladies who work there are friendly and really sweet
Love the orange chicken, sweet n sour chicken, won ton soup and fried rice. The owner is extremely nice and welcoming. Also they have big portions for really good prices!
Rolled the dice from our air bnb and it landed on Flower Lounge. We ordered a fairly unadventurous selection of Szechuan Shrimp, Wonton Soup with Roast Pork, Chicken Fried Rice and Chicken Chow Fun. We also ordered Vegetable Egg Foo Yung but discovered that they no longer make Egg Foo Yung dishes. I'm not sure why, but we are flexible. Everything was hot, delicious, and prepared carefully. The soup was loaded with pork, dumplings, and vegetables, and the broth tasty and not loaded with salt. The Szechuan Shrimp were deep fried and tossed in a vinegary, slightly spicy sauce. The Chicken Chow Fun had lots of chicken, and big pieces of tasty bok choy, which was cooked until tender. My son had the Chicken Fried Rice and enjoyed it. The prices were really great, the owner was cheerful, and this place goes on our go-to list for easy, tasty Chinese food. They have more authentic dishes on the menu which we will explore next time
We love getting take out from the Flower Lounge. They have the best hot and sour soup in the Bay Area, that includes chicken and shrimp. We love their fried rice and we regular get a vegetable. All the vegetables taste fresh and are cooked perfectly. The staff is very thoughtful. I don’t think they have an order system, you just have to call in, but it’s definitely worth it.
Delicious and wonderful food with good portion sizes, flavorful spices, and friendly staff. Very vegetarian friendly too!
Really good food, fast service, very friendly staff. Even though I don't live in this neighborhood, it's a go-to stop when I'm in the area. They've been here under the same ownership for over 30 years!
The Salt & Pepper Wings and Dried fried ribs aka pork chops are the best! I can't get enough. Good Customer Service & very welcoming
A decent Chinese restaurant in this area. A bit Americanized, but you can still find some genuine Chinese dishes in the menu. Price is reasonable. Owner/servers are friendly.
Our new favorite spot in Oakland! Staff is very friendly and portions are BIG - well worth the price. Highly recommend Beef Chow Mein and Salt and Pepper Chicken!

I ordered takeout. My family tore into it before I could take one pic. We really liked the Mongolian beef, try that. The Pork Fried Rice, according to my daughter, had a great egg to rice ratio.
Lunch specials are a great value and delicious. My favorites are their beef stew (best ever! so tender), black bean cod, runny egg with beef, and salt pepper spare ribs. Big portions and friendly staff. Definitely my go to Chinese restaurant. They do party trays too!
This is one of my two favorite Chinese places in the Bay Area. I've been going there for like 15 years, miss them a lot when I'm in DC working. It's a very affordable place, the lunch deluxe deal is unbeatable. They can also do dishes that are not in the menu for the connoisseurs like pak chit kai, the traditional steamed half hen with a tangy and tasty ginger garlic scallion condiment. It's no frills, but we are not here for a Michelin experience but to eat really delish Chinese Cantonese plates. And the owners are always really nice and they speak Spanish (at least some, and they are funny)
No frills, just really good food. Portions are meant to be shared. The wonton soup had perfect wontons in a veggie broth and fried pork chops are fried just right and still tender.
This place is just wonderful...they can't do enough for you. Food is hot and quite tasty...just a good atmosphere and friendly people... definitely try it
I do takeout. The food is tasty and plentiful. Prices are very reasonable, and the service is friendly. Some of my favorites are Wor wonton soup, Mongolian beef, bok choy with garlic, chicken fried rice, and sweet and sour pork. Each serving has about three or four portions.
I’ve been coming here for over a decade. You will not find better Chinese food in Oakland. The helpings are generous, the price is very reasonable, and the service by the two women who run tbe floor is impeccable. They’ll let you know when you’re ready, remind you to visit more, they absolutely rock- and shout outs to the husbands in the kitchen who make the food as awesome as it is.
The food here is just delicious. We’ve had many things on the menu and the quality and consistency is top-notch. Don’t be fooled by the modest interior, and the owner is quite friendly too.
Every thing is yummy. My sons favorite is pineapple sweet n sour chicken.

They have a huge menu, waitresses are nice and they can help you with meal (describe what it is the dish, or you can just show them picture, say 'I want this' and they understand what exactly it's called). Taste is good, but the location is dangerous, I was uncomfortable when parked our can nearby (we afraid of robbery it smth).
I have become a regular for a few months. Great staff/service, good food with decent price, not fancy but good home cooking. Not salty nor MSG taste. Definitely go for a relaxed meal!
Good family style Chinese food. Have been frequenting this for over 3 years. Friendly staff, fresh ingredients, and reasonable prices. Favs are black pepper beef, Kung pao shrimp, spicy tofu with eggplant, hot and sour soup, chicken chow mein, and Singapore noodles. Their dinner combos are great deals if you are hungry.
It's an old joint. Clean for the most part, but mostly I prefer to pick up and take it to go. They don't do delivery. They accommodate kids (no veggies in the chow mein), no problem! Best item on the menu hands down, salt and pepper ribs. The salt and pepper wings are good too!
The restaurant is definitely no frills. Looks like it mainly caters to take out. The staff is very friendly. We got the chow mein which was good and came quickly. We also got the lemon shrimp which was pretty standard. The rice was sub par. It was kinda stale. The dumplings were pretty good. We also got the pot stickers which were huge and probably too similar to the dumplings. The price was definitely right. Cost half as much as eating out at almost any other restaurant.
Nice Chinese restaurant in the Dimond district. Spacious. I love their Kung Pao prawns. It's my favorite. On weekdays you can get their lunch specials. When I'm in a rush, I call them ahead of time.

I've been coming here for many years. I'm glad they are still around. They remember who you are, and it feels like a family atmosphere. Parking can be tough. But, with patience. You eventually will find one, and the food is worth it and dine in and start off with some hot tea and any of their entree. Highly recommend.

Still not reopened for in resturant dining yet, even though they say they are working on it. Service can be good depending or who helps you. Food is still good except this time my salt and pepper ribs were fried so hard they were inedible. I'm sure this was a one off since I have been ordering from here for years and never had that problem before. Would recommend, especially when they reopen.
I’m trying to support local restaurants and maybe they had a bad night. Green beans and orange chicken were both very mushy. The food did not taste fresh at all. They were very nice so I may try it again when things get back to normal. Still looking for a good Chinese restaurant in the east bay.
Everything is good except for it's missing a taste. Any taste! Hot and sour is is just hot without sour. Walnut chicken taste like dry croutons. Potstickers were good. But for $60 take out order, that was pretty disappointing
My wife and I went to the restaurant and I order pork chop and i realize that it was just flower and fat there was no meat. I talk to the lady and showed her the pork chop and opened them and she didn't even do anything about it and still charged me. Me and my wife was really disappointed because we was expecting the pork chop and not the flowers. Hopefully you guys sell pork chop and not flowers.
Absolutely disgusting! Hubby and I ordered house fried rice & chicken chow mein. It was dry, no seasoning and tasted old. Hardly any chicken in the chow mein. The house fried rice was dry and hardly any meat. The last time was their I tried the lemon chicken & it was hard as a rock.
The food is bad and I don't recommend coming to eat here
Honestly, if I could put 0 zero stars I would. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY AND NEVER EAT HERE. The food and the service were AWFUL !!! My family went to eat here for mother's day a few years ago and all of the food that we got was prefrozen (I honestly think that they warmed up our food in a microwave before serving it to us). The food tasted horribly and none of it was fresh. On top of that, the cups that they gave us were dirty, I could see little bits of food crumbs in the cup! Additionally, all of the staff members took their breaks at the same so me and my family couldn't get service for a whole 15 minutes. Never in my life have a been to a restaurant this terrible.
"What do you want OLD MAN!" I've been a paying customer for awhile. I've taken many friends there. This time the woman owner is rude. When I got up to pay she said, "You ready, OLD MAN?!" I said yeah, I'm ready for a place that calls me SIR. She said, "OK, OLD MAN, SIR!" I'm not going to a place that doesn't value my business and disrespects me.
The food and was good but $35 for two plates is pricey when they don't even come in hot food safe containers. They also charged me almost $10 more than the prices listed on their website. They lost me as a customer.
I odered the orange chicken, thinking that this place would be better and fresher than the place around the corner, but it was so hard to eat, i think they reheated it and dumped sauce on it. They gave us two day-old fried chicken. No good! Never going back!
