We were there about 3:15 on a Tuesday before a concert. There was only 1 guy working but he was quick & friendly. I tried a bowl for the first time. It was good but I'll go back to tacos or nachos next time. They're running a deal on a Double D's meal Mon-Thur thru the summer.
Gringos Locos is legendary amongst the downtown crowd. It was floated as an idea every time my class would go downtown. We went once, but it was in 2015, so I don't remember anything about that trip except that it was delicious. Fast forward to six years later. I'm now an adult, three years into my career, and I'm on the hunt for the best food in Orlando, always. Well, according to the lovely readers of Orlando Weekly, Gringos Locos has this year's best nachos in town. Nacho making, as we all know, is an art form. Their quality varies greatly depending on how skillfully you build them. I took a small break from Immerse 2021 and stopped in. There was a substantial, which is a side effect of being amazing, so plan/order ahead if you're wanting to get in and out of this place in a hurry. When I got to the front of the line, I ordered the Drunk Nachos (Tortilla Chips Layered with Everything). They mean literally everything. Check the photo to see this titan. Chicken, beef, pork, brisket, beans, cheese, onions, tomatoes, olives, lettuce, guac, sour cream, I've honestly lost memory of what all was on this thing. Just be ready to have every nacho itch of yours scratched. AND, the layer effectively. Chips, toppings, chips, toppings, top toppings (like guac and sour cream). This was a delight. The chips were super crispy, not too thick not too thin. Plenty of each kind of meat. I hope you're sharing this. And it comes at a really great price. This place hasn't suffered inflated prices from an inflated ego. Overall, I can see why this place has gained legendary status, and I will be coming back, often.
I had drunken nachos. The portion size is enough for 2 to 3 people. Really delicious food. During Happy Hour beer is between $1.70 and $2.50. The employees were very nice and helpful. The bathroom is tiny.
Meisha was amazing! Walked me through the menu. Gave great recommendations. So nice and friendly. An asset to a company like this. Thank you
Always a delicious meal. I love the Double D tacos and the Drunk Nachos. Food comes out fast and hot. Staff is hilarious
I have been searching for loaded nachos and FINALLY found my spot at Gringos locos downtown Orlando. It is not a fancy place but the employees are very friendly welcoming and the customer service is on point. I had the drunken nachos which comes with all 3 meats - beef chicken and pork. These nachos did not disappoint. Packed with flavor chucks of pork and chicken sour cream guacamole olives cheese I opted for no beans tomatoes and x’d some other toppings just my preference - make sure you get extra cheese! If you’re looking for great tacos and nachos - Gringos Locos is where you want to go.

2am they’re playing High School Musical and Hannah Montana while we’re eating the Drunk Nachos. There’s no other way to experience Gringos Locos.
I've been a regular here since 2010 - best food in Orlando - casual or otherwise. Double Ds and empanadas are fantastic. My wife likes the Lean Green and OG nachos. This place has survived as other restaurants in adjacent/neighboring restaurants have all gone out of business. Staff is fantastic and they have a good loyalty program. Thanks Gringos!

The menu features tacos, burritos, quesadillas, and other Mexican street-food staples, often praised for generous portions and tasty salsas. The atmosphere is lively and laid-back, perfect for a quick bite or casual dining with friends. Service is usually friendly and efficient. It’s a solid spot for flavorful, no-frills Mexican food in a downtown setting.

Decided to stop in for lunch while making a quick trip to Orlando and it was a great decision! The food was amazing and the people working there were awesome! Would highly recommend checking them out if you have the chance
We came in after the weeknd concert and it was so busy, the workers were still so positive and kind, the one woman working counter even brought our drinks to our seats for us despite how busy the place was! our food was also fantastic and the ladies all moved so fast and quick we hardly had to wait long! They deserve lots of recognition for keeping great attitudes and working hard!
Gringos Locos in downtown Orlando has been a staple for years, especially known for its creative tacos and the infamous Double D—which is basically Gringos’ take on a double-decker taco or a Taco Bell gordita crunch. It’s been a go-to late-night stop in the heart of downtown for a long time. That said, after visiting over the years, I can’t help but feel like the quality has slipped just enough to notice. It’s hard to put a finger on exactly why—maybe ingredient quality, maybe freshness—but something feels different even though the menu hasn’t changed much. When you’ve eaten somewhere consistently for years, those changes stand out. The queso is still a win. I usually order it alongside a couple of Double D’s, and it remains one of the highlights. The shells are still house-made and fried, which I appreciate, but the fillings themselves felt like they needed sauce to really come alive flavor-wise. One disappointment was seeing that the self-serve sauce station is gone—that used to be part of the charm and helped balance out some of the tacos. Losing that definitely takes away from the overall experience. All that said, I’ll still stop by from time to time. It’s open late, centrally located, and still scratches the itch when you’re downtown and hungry. It may not hit quite like it used to, but Gringos Locos still holds its place as a reliable late-night option in Orlando.
My friends and I were craving Mexican food and thought it would be a cool stop. I got the double D tacos with three (pork, chicken, beef) without question the pork was the best of the three. The beef was ok as well as the chicken. The ingredients certainly were fresh so no doubt about that. I enjoyed the food quite a bit however, agree with many people in that the environment isn't the best. You are greeted with all self serve computers not much of a personal touch. The food has charm, but the atmosphere is lacking, especially given the price increases over the years. One thing is for sure the food keeps going back.
Thankful this place was open late. The burritos hit the spot! Would definitely recommend if you’re hungry and it’s late out.
Came here late night after hitting a few bars with the guys and it awesome! I heard a few people talking about this place, so I had to check it out. The food was good and the atmosphere was really decorative. The wait and cleanliness of the restaurant was a lil subpar 🤷🏻, but it was a Friday night. Would still come back to this place!

The food was good. Im just not a fan of sloppy joes and thats what the hamburger meat tastes like a good bit. The staff was great. The hospitality of them was amazing. The place was very clean and its a quiet place to eat. Pricing isnt bad either.

Update 5/11: The service is even worse, and the food is way overpriced and not good at all. I'm definitely not eating here again (this time was an accident..) ______ Unfortunately, the service was not great and neither was the food.. I spent $23 with tip for a small guacamole, chips, and 3 tacos. The tacos were pretty good, kind of soggy, though after a minute.. everything was just kind of okay. It's definitely not a warm environment inside either - everyone was pretty quiet until I tried to speak with them. Good amount of food but I'll be trying some other places
Ordered on Uber and my was food was not good. I ordered a 16$ meat queso/chip combo and a 9$ quac/chip combo. Missing 1 of 2 bag of chips, the 4 “my tacos” were missing the cheese sour cream tomato’s and onions. Tacos fell into pieces when I pick them up. Tried to call the location twice and get a VM. 60$ for this mess makes me very unhappy
I’ve been a customer here for YEARS since I’m local. I went in tonight with my husband and friends, we happened to get pizza beforehand so we only went because my husband and my friends wanted tacos. We sat down at a table while they ordered and I started to eat my pizza, like I have before in previous visits. The rude lady that “guards” the door told us to stop eating that in there. I was puzzled since no one has said that to me before because like I said, I’ve done that in previous visits. We just left the boxes open while I finished my bite and this time the lady screams at us to stop eating the pizza. So unnecessary to scream at your customers over that, we should’ve gotten a refund and gave back the food because I’ve never been treated so poorly at this location. Like ever. This experience was so ridiculous we were left shocked. Every other door person we’ve encountered has always been nice but this disgusting human tainted our experience and we will never return again.

Awful food poor guy working tho grill can’t get a taco order right to save his life (the grill was definitely working him) . The beef is a horrible dog food consistency finely ground no seasoning .looks like sloppy Joe The chicken is even worse just chewy and greasy again zero seasoning other than from the dirty panini grill they’re “cooking” on dude gave me like 12 slices of old half juiced limes to maybe mask the fact that the food tastes so horrible my fiancé wouldn’t let me complain because they were already getting worked over you must be loco to consider this place remotely edible
The first time I ordered from this location the lady at the register licked her fingers to open the plastic bag to put my food in it. Do the employees go through any kind of food safety program because that's pretty freaking gross. After a while I figured, "I'll give it another chance". Ordered my food for pick up, walked in to pick it up, there are more employees behind the counter than there are people in the restaurant yet no-one acknowledges you because they all have horse blinders on. Love that kind of a reception. So, I wait 5 full minutes while they dawdle around back there. Finally someone comes to the pick up area and gives me my order - all the while it's been sitting there cooling off. Much appreciated. This time I get back to my office and open the bag. I had two notes on my ticket - offered to my by their website: No pico, no black olives and yep, there's pico all over the tops of all three. I honestly did not expect anything better. I will NEVER return to that crappy "restaurant" again. Thanks for STEALING MY MONEY. Nice job.
KAT needs FOH training if the owners want her as a manager. Been coming here for years since I live downtown. Stopped going for about 2 years because new tacos spots started opening nearby. The last few visits have been horrible, which is crazy considering they should be trying harder considering they have competitors now like TACOS MY GUEY which has been consistently good to me. The last few visits here have been crazy. Last time I came they declined me a water cup, after I ordered $30 dollars in food. They claimed that the machine was broken. I had to buy a water. A homeless man walked in while I was eating and they gave him a water cup… saw him use the machine that was supposedly broken. That spoke volumes to me. They used to outsource their empanadas years ago and it seems they changed who makes them because they safe small tiny triangles, and stuffing was bland and mushy. Decided to give them another try today since Tacos My Guey was closed, bought a burrito. Bland. Tried building my own burrito. The young girl at the counter did not know what all the toppings offered were for me to build my burrito. They don’t have a menu to show you either. I had to pull up the menu from the website to be able to “build my own burrito” while the girl stared at me, useless. While I was eating the same girl accidentally gave a ToGo order to a man that order shortly after me. He started eating, and in came the manger KAT(same lady who denied me a water cup on my 30 dollar purchase). She humiliated him in front of everyone as if it was his fault, I witnessed that it wasn’t. He was so nice to offer to pay for it, even though he had already paid for his meal. She rung up the order that was accidentally given to him and charged him even tho it was a staff screw up. VERY unprofessional as a manager. I’ve been here for an hour now, eating, observing, and not one smile or greeting from anyone in this team except the friendly gentleman that was behind the counter. He’s a new face to me. DONT COME HERE if there are other taco spots open across the street, the service is terrible and the food doesn’t taste like it used to when it became popular years ago. Date of visit: 02/02/26 Time of purchase 11:55pm

I'm a little baffled by the good reviews. No prices listed, cash not accepted, cooler of drinks empty and unfriendly staff. No cash? It's a taco restaurant and they're passing the fees off on the customers. $37 for the basic nachos app, a burrito and a sprite. I will not be back.
