Sorry Ruth, Mastros has stepped up! Fine dining is the theme here so expect service and top flavors. This is exactly what we got. Filet Mignon was butter, my Chilian Sea Bass was flaky tasty huge delight. Salads, one chopped wedge the other Cesar excellent. Great selection up to various Wagu rated cuts and vast wine and booze selections. Our servers were always spot on and it was a relaxed and satisfying experience. This is a spot for special occasions or you have some extra money to spend for the finer dining experience.
Incredible night from start to finish. The energy, the food, and the hospitality were all dialed in. Jessica was exceptional—knowledgeable, warm, and perfectly attentive, making the evening feel like a true celebration. Russ, the manager, elevated the experience even more with spot-on recommendations and genuine care for every detail. This is the kind of service that turns a great meal into a memorable night and makes you want to come back and bring friends.
Always a great dining experience at every Mastro's. However, the people watching at this location is solid gold 👌
We had the BEST time at Mastro’s Steakhouse last night! My husband took me out for a special dinner, and it was absolutely amazing from start to finish. The ribeye was beyond incredible perfectly cooked, juicy, full of flavor, and literally melting in your mouth with every bite. Ricky, our server, was AMAZING. 🙌 He was so attentive, professional, and genuinely kind. He made us feel completely taken care of the entire evening, which made the night even more special. The atmosphere, the energy, the service, the food everything was top tier. We left already talking about when we’re going back! Highly, highly recommend!
Rico suave was just amazing. He was professional, courteous and very knowledgeable about all the food. Wine is his passion and my husbands as well. He found the best selections for the best night out. Highly recommend the restaurant and all the staff. 100% top notch. We had fun!!!!
Incredible dinner with my friend. Loved the music, service and food. Ricky is first class and recommended dishes we loved. Had a great evening. Service, food and ambiance were fantastic!
Rico did an amazing job hosting us last night. Great person and made us feel super welcomed. One of the best service I have received in awhile plus food was amazing. Thank you Rico!
Excellent experience! First time at this location and it did not disappoint. My dad was able to get us a reservation for Christmas Day a week before which was impressive. Valet is offered and our party of 6 was seated immediately. This restaurant is elegant and intimate — great for special occasions or a date night. They have an extensive wine list and craft cocktails. Bread baskets were brought out to start — I will say this was my least favorite part of the meal. The breads here are just not very good unfortunately. My partner agreed with me on this one. For most of our entrees, we ordered filets. One person ordered the rack of lamb. All sides are a la carte and we ordered: garlic mashed potatoes, mushrooms, broccolini, and white cheddar Mac and cheese. Everything was exceptional in taste and temperature and cooked as requested. For dessert, we opted for the butter cake and key lime pie. We also ordered vanilla ice cream. The desserts came with fresh whipped cream as well. The butter cake was excellent — so buttery and delicious. The key lime pie had a wonderful crust and was well-balanced. We enjoyed our Christmas Day dinner here. Thank you for the excellent service.
Classic traditional steakhouse. Food and service is always on point. I always have a reservation and show up early or on time and usually still always have to wait to be sat. Thats my only gripe. Also they are very judgy if you look young or how you dress so keep that in mind. They will throw a fit if you wear a hat so just don't. Live music in bar is nice but prefer the dining rooms. Lobster Mac is my favorite side, love the chicken and the filets. They have a wide range of sauces and additions for your entrees. Love the shrimp cocktails presentation, it has a nice mist to it like a dry ice martini. Ive dined at many mastros and oceans, they are always on point. The ones in Scottsdale have much better service, but this ones kitchen does a better job. Average spend about $300++ for two people. Worth it though.
By far the best meal in town! I was visiting for a mom getaway and googled nearby steak restaurants when Mastro’s popped up. I ordered the filet mignon with truffle butter, the scalloped potatoes and broccolini with a bottle of Argle bubbles. It was PERFECTION! Perfectly cooked steak, the truffle butter sent it over the top! BEST STEAK I HAVE EVER HAD! and I’ve been to the best everywhere I travel. The sides were perfection and the staff… simply AMAZING! When offered dessert we were too full but decided to book a reservation for the next day to try it and repeat the steak/butter combo. The next day, did not disappoint! Ordered the same steak and butter combo with a bottle of bubbles and the bread service. It was, yet again, perfection! Then the butter cake… no exaggeration here… the best cake I’ve ever had! It’s buttery… crispy, soft, simply the best! It’s been decided, this is the only place I will go for dinner in the Palm Springs area. The staff remembered us from the night before and again, they were amazing! Thank Mastro’s :)
Everything about Mastro’s was fantastic! Our server was super friendly and knowledgeable. I read a lot of complaints about it being loud inside the restaurant with live music but honestly it wasn’t loud at all. It was just enough noise to be enjoyable. My husband and I ordered the bacon steak appetizer and it was so delicious! I got the 8 ounce filet topped with lobster and bernaise it was hands down one of the best filets I’ve ever tasted! There was so much lobster it made it well worth the additional price. My husband got the 22 ounce bone in rib eye with bone barrow butter. He said it was fantastic! (Bone marrow butter a bit costly $15) We also got the Mac n cheese, scalloped potatoes and creamed spinach for sides. Wasn’t a huge fan of the creamed spinach felt like it was just a little lacking in flavor. Dessert we split the key lime pie and warm butter cake. OMG. That butter cake is unbelievable!!! Key lime pie was also delicious! Thank you to Mastros for making my birthday dinner fantastic and memorable!
Pretty amazing dinner for our birthdays. Amazing quality of food and wow. We all know expensive and a great steakhouse, but theirs was about 15 % + too expensive. Again, amazing, but to make it more often for us, it is too much. Seafood tower a la carte was impressive, but like $10 a bite. Steak was great and reasonably priced. Sides and drinks were a bit on the high side too. Yes, I knew to expect a great meal and pricey. We will be back, but more on a budget for a meal. I do recommend trying it if you havent.
Exceptional Dining Experience Mastro’s Steakhouse, Palm Desert delivered an unforgettable experience from start to finish. We celebrated my wife’s birthday here, and the staff went above and beyond to make the evening absolutely perfect. The level of customer service was attentive, warm, and genuinely dedicated to ensuring every detail was flawless. If you’re looking for a top-tier dining experience with impeccable service and outstanding cuisine, Mastro’s Palm Desert is a must. Thank you for making my wife’s birthday so memorable—we can’t wait to return!
This is a large and vibrant steakhouse that offers an impressive dining experience with both excellent food and top-notch service. The atmosphere is lively, and while it’s a busy spot, the attention to detail from the staff makes it feel welcoming and comfortable. The cocktails are strong, flavorful, and expertly crafted, although, as is typical with high-end restaurants, they come at a premium price. The appetizers and salads were absolutely delightful, setting the stage for the main course. The steaks were cooked to perfection, tender and full of flavor, just as you'd hope from a quality steakhouse. And for dessert, the butter cake was a showstopper — rich, indulgent, and truly out of this world. This restaurant is a fantastic choice for anyone looking for a memorable dining experience with great food, service, and ambiance.
Mastros is the definition of Luxury Dining. I arrived early for my reservation and was promptly seated. I've been to other Mastros before and this one was very similar. High quality designs throughout, attention to detail, and a live person singing for your pleasure. I was here on 2/5/25 and Brandon was my server. I was very well taken care of and the staff took good care of me and kept my water glass full. I started with the French Onion Soup, which was out of this world, and finished with the 12oz Bone-in Filet, which was phenomenal. It was a very relaxing and enjoyable experience and I never felt rushed. My food arrived with a nice break in between the soup course and the main course, so there was no "oh no, I need to hurry on one before the other gets cold" that you get at lesser restaurants. One thing I'd also like to touch on, is the surrounding area. The "El Paseo Marketplace" is very well done. The street outside the restaurant is superbly lit-up at night and is a pleasure to walk on.
Pros: -Food quality is excellent. -Service is top notch. -Planning a group event was easy and far superior to other steakhouses we scoped out. Cons: -Waited nearly 30 minutes for a room we booked for a private event. We got there 10 minutes, so part of that is on us, but it not being ready means it was in use before us. If you're going to leverage an $1,800 minimum spend, there should be a buffer to make sure this doesn't happen. It's just a sign they value packing in as many reservations as possible and passing off the inconvenience to the customer. -One of the attractions for this reservation was the TV in the private room. As part of the many communications between the manager and I, I made absolutely sure to clarify the TV would be available to watch a game our group was interested in. It turns out the tv was not functioning which is disappointing given how much it was discussed. Overall, a great experience. The above complaints would not stop me from coming back.
A really great restaurant with great ambiance and service, and a good menu, but somewhat expensive. For dinner and a drink or two, count on spending about $100 each. The dining room is fairly large, but it does fill up in the busy months. You can sit at the bar without reservations, though, and you can order anything from the menu.
The food was excellent. It was worth the high price, and should be of this quality. But that’s the best that can be said. The service was very slow. Our server was knowledgeable, but rarely around. The manager was somewhat overbearing. Sent a dessert we didn’t want and seemed miffed that we meant it. To top it off, there was an over-loud woman singing 80s karaoke as entertainment. Her voice was very good, but the volume was too high. There are other high quality restaurants. We’ll not be back.
We came to Mastro’s to celebrate our best friend’s 40th birthday and, unfortunately, the experience was disappointing. The service was extremely slow throughout the evening, which really took away from what should have been a special celebration. The server was nice and welcoming. What surprised us most was being charged for the “birthday” slice of cake that was brought out without explanation. The cake itself was very dry and not good at all. Had we known there would be a charge, we would have gladly ordered the butter cake instead. For a restaurant of this caliber and price point, we expected much better service and communication, especially for a milestone birthday.
I had good impression about Mastro’s having been to Beverly Hills, Costa Mesa and Vegas joints before. But that was long time ago and things must have changed. Definitely prices and quality of food do not match anymore. I am not against to pay premium for a prime steak. But steaks we had were not prime at all not even mediocre I would classify. They were difficult to cut and chew. Cooking was not correct. We ordered medium and medium rare but both steaks were cooked at same level, medium I suppose, maybe which also contributed to my dislike of the steak. The sides that would be part of the order in other restaurants, did not taste anything special although they were quite costly for what they were so we did not finish the mushroom. The service was good though.
Update. We were asked to email the company that handles the PR.We took the time and wrote what the problem was. Never heard from the. We laughed because we heard La Bron James and Broney never showed up. We are in the area again so we will go enjoy a superb dinner at John Henry's and be appreciated..... Mastros of Palm Desert has the worst management. Ruined our special evening. The manager came over and told us we were being moved. Not during our cocktails. Not during the bottle of wine or the appetizers of crabcakes, shrimp cocktail French onion soup and bread basket. She comes over and tells us they were going to use that alcove for a group coming in and we had to be moved. Obviously for someone more important than us. So 1/3 of the way thru the wagyu tomahawk steak, filets, ribeye and sides, she says we have to be moved. So staff come pick up everything on our table march us thru a crowded restaurant with other dinners looking at us. We did nothing wrong and protested. It was embarrassing. We had driven 6 hours that day and after sitting my husbands legs were frozen up. I helped him with his 2 canes get to the new table. Now the food was cold. The waiter Lance said he tried to tell the manager that was not right. The fat on my ribeye was now congealed. The whole atmosphere was deflated. We started out laughing and taking pictures of the family. When we moved there are no more pictures. No more joy. It was a BIG deal for our daughter and her husband to drive in from LA take their parents out to a special dinner for Dad’s birthday. I got a Charlie horse in my leg from trying rapidly slide my husband chair in to not be standing where everyone was looking at us. I could not sit or stand. It was painful. We asked for tonic water to relieve the cramp. We were finishing our wine and ordered desert. Our daughter loves their butter cake. 1 hour after we were moved, no one was seated in the alcove. We could have finished our steaks while they were hot. Maybe the appropriate thing would have been to say “when you are ready for desert we would like to move you to the next room over and bring complimentary birthday desert. Oct 4th 2024 8PM. The manager never came back and checked on us. She had never said I’m sorry I need to move you. The chefs were excellent. Enjoyed the food while it was hot. The atmosphere was upbeat. The prices are ridiculous. Only go there if you think you are important enough to be treated like your thousand dollars is as important some big shots.
