Opinions de Chef King Pittsford
Good things do come in small packages. Don't judge the restaurant by its size. The dishes are very delicious, one of the best in town. Highly recommend it's Sichuan beef. We have been eating here for 3 years and they never disappoint us.
I always like the food here, and the service is speedy. Sometimes, I will pop in and order something, then walk down to Tom Wahls and order something... waiting there and then walk back when that is done and the Chef King is usually done when I get back.
great food and price. order was done under 15 minutes and the covid precautions were some of the best I've seen from any restaurant. will for sure be back!
No nonsense chinese takeout. quick service and great value. I’ve never had a bad meal here and the food tastes better than other places in rochester.
The food was good but I wish the egg rolls were gluten free.
Best Chinese in the area. Take out only!
***Revised review Went back after my last string of experiences, and to my surprise, and pleasure, they are doing much better. Quality of food is much better, service is a bit friendlier, and prices remain very affordable for being in Bushnell's Basin. Would recommend to anyone nearby to give them a shot, as of late, they are very deserving of business. And it shows, they are typically quite busy during lunch time. *** Original review This place is consistent with a few things. They will get your order wrong They will change something on your order without telling you, and expect you to pay for it. They will be short, cold, or rude when you interact with them. This place has to be in the top 5 worst Chinese food places in the entire city. The lack of care runs deep, and I'm afraid to imagine what other corners they cut. Please please please go somewhere else. Save your money and your stomach.
Absolutely loved it here! It’s really easy to order online, and you can add special requests which they take very seriously. Ordered a lot and the price was low as well as the wait. The food is amazing, and just good quality. They have a nice menu with a variety of dishes. Love the people who work here too, all very nice and accommodating. A+ for authenticity
Hot and fresh. Will be back.
Chef King is my new favorite Chinese food restaurant. I used to frequent Chen Garden, but their food and prices changed and it led me to seek out other Chinese food restaurants. Chef King is basically a takeout only restaurant. They may have one or two tables, but I’m not sure if I’ve ever seen anyone eat at the actual restaurant. During nicer weather, there are a few picnic tables outside, in front of Pontillos that you could use. But enough about that. The food. Delicious, hot, and keeps you coming back! I haven’t had a bad dish from them. Their boneless spare ribs, wings, lo mein, moo shu pork, pork egg rolls, sesame chicken, orange chicken, general tsao’s chicken, pork fried dumplings, fried wontons and wonton soup are just a few of their great dishes. Pricing is fair. I never regret buying food from Chef King from a financial standpoint. Their lunch combos are cheaper than dinner dishes, but come with less food. Lunch combos are always enough to leave you full and dinner dishes will leave you with leftovers. Bottom line. If you’ve never eaten here, give them a try. You’re going to love it and I can guarantee it won’t be your last trip to Chef King!
I have eaten a lot of Chinese take-out in my day, from all over the country and around the world. I went in expecting the usual, and was so pleased I have returned many times since. As of March 04, 2020, among the best I have ever had. The fried rice is tasty and not an overbearing greasy mess. Nothing is over-sauced. The baby corn tastes like corn instead of aluminum and sorrow! Overall quality is several notches above the typical take-out experience. Could the place use a facelift? Sure, but don't let appearances deter you. And if the texture of meat in Chinese food confuses you, look up the term "velveting."
Best Chinese take-out in Rochester. The soup & fried wings to die for. I've been a customer since they opened. Special dinners phenomenal. If you remember the Aloha on Monroe ave this will be as delicious. I have tried different Chinese across the world but this is the closest to real in Rochester. Try the Ribs fantastic. Lo Mein out of this world. Never had a bad meal. Were creatures of habit so try something different every time.
I have orders multiple times for multiple different types of food. The food has always been on point and the customer service has been better than I could have hoped. The were super responsive when I made a mistake and didn't charge me for a last second change even wh I offered to pay for my mistake. Great food. Great people. Can't go wrong.
First time and veggie lomein is soooo good! Great flavors thick noodles and fresh veggies....one of the best I have ever had!
This my favorite Chinese Restaurant. The food is very delicious and they are very accommodating to the way you want your meal. I like to order Hunan Beef with Broccoli as the only vegetable. That's not a problem. They also serve the food quickly.
Never was a big fan of Chinese food, but Chef King was right down the street from my work. Excellent lunch special deals I spend $6 and I'm stuffed, recommend Beef/chicken and broccoli well done. The raters haters are probably confused with the China King place because the service, during the day at least, is always on point!
My family and I are always happy with the food from this neighborhood gem. I’ve changed my favorite entree a number of times, but it’s all good.
What a great day to spend a day to eat the great food. So lovely. Thank goodness for Chef King. Chef king, more like the king of Chinese food in Pittsford!
I have always had no problem with chef king and have eaten their food many times, great food and great service because they are always ready to go as soon as I get there
Good solid take out food. Crispy sesame chicken. Good portions for takeout.
They have a great deal for their lunch special. Not the greatest chinese in Rochester but not bad at all, and one of the only options around Pittsford. They actually had a nice little seating area inside if you want to eat in.
Fast service. Get their lunch menu. Plain white Rice is always perfectly cooked. I always get their beef with vegetables while my husband always get chicken with snow peas. Delicious!
It's a cheap, hole-in-the-wall Chinese takeout place. Nowhere to sit down. We've been eating here for years. Perfect for a night that we don't want to make dinner.
This is a strip mall Chinese place, so it's not going to be the most authentic or unique experience you'll have eating. But for what it is and what it costs, this place is above average. When you're just looking for fried rice, egg rolls, wonton soup, and sesame chicken, this place will scratch that itch. I've ordered from here many times and there's rarely a wait when they tell me it'll be ready in 15 minutes. Food is routinely hot and the staff is friendly. Can't really dine in, but to-go is fine.
This is a good quick place for a mid week craving for takeout American Chinese food in the Perinton area for pick up or delivery. I ordered the General Tso's chicken and a shrimp eggroll. I enjoyed both and was surprised by how good the General Tso's sauce was, the spice level was very nice. The Broccoli was fresh and steamed nicely and the eggroll was crispy. The lunch portion I ordered was pretty big for me. I can eat this for 2 meals.
Very good food and huge portions for the value. You have to learn how to talk with the Chinese workers if one of them is working the register, but odds are that they have a white person working the register. The owner takes very good care of her workers too.
The food is good, though they had gotten swamped with orders right as we walked up, so our food was very slow in coming out. There is little ambiance, as it is a takeout place, but the owners' kids were very polite and adorable with our dog while we waited!
I always order the veggie fried dumplings and lo mein, and they are very good! The staff is nice and gets the job done! However, the fried rice can use some improvement.
Place is awesome but damn one bite out of that egg roll no bueno never seen anything like it everything else good but yikes!
Run of the mill cheap Chinese. Not good, but it's close by. Hot and sour soup was bad enough to throw out, while the egg rolls, sesame chicken, and lo mein were passable. Szechuan Beef was decent.
Average: Chicken Lo Men, Sesame Chicken, Sweet and Sour Chicken. + Order Online + Tip with a card online - Drinks are not listed online. (So far I know they have: Mtn Dew and Pepsi)
We have been buying take out from here for 12 years and now the son works the counter so rude. It will be a long time for us to buy there again
I've now ordered twice and was fairly disappointed both times. I don't have high expectations of a stripmall chinese place. What I can say is that both times the dishes were beyond bland (if you're on a low-sodium diet, this will be a good fit for you).
The food is fine but the young man at the counter is harsh and rude. They use microphones to communicate and it is hard to hear. Twice now I got the wrong thing. Maybe put someone with a little more social skill at the window. Not good customer experience.
Not great at understanding substitution orders. And I paid extra for sub shrimp, but half the container was broccoli! Worst proportion of meat to vegetable I've seen, to the point that the broccoli's steam watered down the sauce. Pork fried rice had no pork and was barely-fried yellow rice. Egg drop/wonton soup was delicious.
I ordered the general Tso’s chicken and was surprised to find it pretty bland and not that spicy. I ordered a side of pork fried rice and the rice was tasteless as well. The shrimp egg roll was a bit gluey in texture on the inside, and only had mushy cabbage and 2 smalls pieces of shrimp on the entire thing… Needless to say, I was disappointed.
This place is a circus. They have 8 yr kids running the phones who have no idea what they are doing. Is that even legal? They place has the most ridiculous Covid setup I have ever seen, they slide stuff thruogh a barrier and scream at you through a mic...they didnt get the memo that 1- the pandemic is over and 2- none of that helps! If you can, avoid this place.
On business in Upstate New York and Doordashed this restaurant yesterday for lunch. Since it was my first time trying this place, I waited to do my review in order to see if the food would tear up my stomach or not. And I am happy to report that it did not. However, this is not a place I would recommend eating at either. I ordered the sesame chicken and vegetable lo mein. Pretty sure the sesame chicken was the absolute worst I have ever had. The sauce was the strangest shade of reddish orange and tasted even worse than it looked. Luckily, I was given more white rice than chicken. The vegetable lo mein was okay, but certainly nothing to jump up and down about. There was no silverware or napkins in the bag. I could not believe I paid as much as I did for this crap. I have had way better meals at Panda Express locations. Do yourself and your wallet a favor and pick someplace else to eat at, just anywhere else but here.
Food really wasn’t very good. Nothing special. Most of it seemed under cooked and rushed or like it was ‘yesterday’s rice’. Everything was dry, especially the peas, they were almost hard. Sorry to say, but I did not enjoy the food here. Best part was the fortune cookie, it was the only thing that tasted fresh.
The worst Chinese food ever. Tasteless and the consistency of the meat was horrible. I don't like to do bad reviews. But if I can help someone save there money and time I will
Ordered lunch from there and my chicken and broccoli did not taste right. It was not the traditional brown sauce. Not planning to order from there ever again.
I believe he is the owner who wears the glasses I had a very bad experience today on my lunch break he was very unprofessional and rude when I was placing my order over the phone and some of my broccoli was frozen with the meal I had got and he lied and said that the broccoli comes cold but my co worker gets the same meal all of the time and it’s never cold he didn’t even apologize or anything in return for the mistake he made never again was just pretty much like oh well I was very upset never will go there again
Was told 40 minutes for delivery. Took over an hour. Food was ice cold. General Tso's was listed as a spicey item. There was no spice. Will not order from them again.
Worst Place Ever, Very Dirty Restaurant 🤢🤢🤢 Shrimp Fried Rice And Egg Rolls Really Nasty
So apparently there's a pre-teenage kid running the place which I'm fine with, problem is that this kid was super rude to me to the point I regret not asking for my money back on account of principal. That kid has to learn manners before he's gonna offer a service for my money.
Extra spicy General Tso's chicken tasted like bbq, spring rolls and sesame chicken tasted like a frozen meal. Very disappointing after what I had read and driving 25min to get it. Another Chinese restaurant off the list
Horrible Service - Substandard Food - Who wants to open a Chinese Restaurant in Pittsford This is the unfriendliest chinese restaurants I have experienced in the entire US. The owners are rude to their employees and never say a THANK You to their customers. The food is also substandard. The only reason why they are still in business must be that there are no other take-out restaurants in the area.
Disgusting food. Forgot a $10 item. Still waiting for refund. Very dirty inside. Shouldn't have placed an order to begin with.
This has to be my least favorite place to eat chinese. I always feel like any chicken I get from here is full of ligaments and just way to chewy. The dumplings are terrible as well they have way to much dough and the meat always tastes funny
I just placed a phone order for a group who like this place. The guy (maybe the owner) was not very friendly on the phone and I felt so rushed. It has been an unpleasant experience, but I could not say anything about the food (has not tried this place yet). I am unsure if I want to order from here given my experience on the phone.
