Cool atmosphere! Very sophisticated and complex flavors for breakfast items. I like the combination of poached eggs and high-end cheese, for instance. It's a welcome step up from typical breakfast sandwiches. Pastries are dreamy, too!
We loved the breakfast went ahead a ordered for pick up tomorrow morning.
5/27/21 update I have to give kudos to the staff on hand this morning. This woman in a lime green jacket and big sunglasses spent at least 2 hours-because that's how long I was there- pestering the staff and other customers. They handled it like professionals. The manager did finally step in when the woman had kept one of the cashiers busy for ~45 minutes and kept trying to get her to do stuff. The manager offered to help her but the woman kept trying to corner the poor cashier. Both the manager and the cashier deserve a raise! Great cafe! Their breakfast sandwiches with the in-house biscuits are fantastic and they've never failed to poach an egg properly.
My only regret is that I'm not a local and can't eat here every day! It was honestly one of the best meals I have ever had! I ordered the quiche florentine and I had dreams about it for the rest of the day... It came with a delicious side salad which was a happy surprise, and I got to try the stuffed French toast, hot chocolate, and blueberry coconut muffin in addition to my own meal... All of it was sensational! I hope they expand and come to the west coast so that I can give them my business again soon!
Nice atmosphere and good food! I got one of the salads with chicken, goat cheese, and dried cranberries. So good on a summer day! And it came with two generous slices of bread!
French Toast and French Toast Latte were amazing! I caution anybody pulling into the parking lot during peak hours. We had to turn around in the narrow space closest to the seating area and having everybody stop eating their meals to watch me struggle turning around was very embarrassing 😂 Aside from that, great experience!
Go to breakfast place for my parents and I when they're in town. Delicious breakfast sandwiches and French toast. The coffee is very good too, I have no idea why there's a Starbucks right next door. The only problem is when it's busy you almost always will wait for a seat, but it's well worth it!
Probably the best food option in the village. Really good breakfast sandwiches and a lot of space both inside and out. Reasonably priced and a lot of drink choices. I've only been in summer so I'm not sure how packed it is in winter when outdoor seating isn't an option.
Coffee is pretty decent, although on the expensive side. The breakfast sandwiches are really, really good. Never tried the pastries, but they looked good in the case. I can't figure out why the sell dry goods, but it doesn't take away from what they do well. Surprised how good this chain is.
I meet up with my coffee group here every morning. They have really nice staff although their lines can move a little slow. The food is delicious, especially for breakfast. They have a really good selection of open face breakfast sandwiches that I tend to go for. Prices are reasonable for the high quality of food they have. The Bakery is also a great place to run into friends living near the village and general people watching.
This weekend was our first time visiting and it was a really busy Saturday morning but we encountered friendly, helpful staff and amazingly fresh food. We didn't realize all the sandwiches were grilled (it was on the menu we just missed it) which was only an issue since my boyfriend is lactose intolerant and they use butter for grilling the sandwiches. But the manager or owner was SO kind and they remade the sandwich for us. Unfortunately when it was remade they forgot an add on to the sandwich that we paid for. Again, the manager was very friendly about it which we appreciated. There was noticeable aggression from the cook though which we could see with the open kitchen. I know it was busy but we were not trying to be difficult and we didn't want him to remake it again just add on the forgotten food and I already saw him complain about the first sandwich to another employee. Every other staff person had their game face on for service though they were really amazing. Another note, it was extremely busy and there were a number of tables with folks sitting for 45 minutes to an hours AFTER finishing meals and drinks while many waited for seating. If it wasn't so busy I'd not at all find fault with lingering and relaxing but a system for the busy times when seating is a hot commodity is prudent. We really loved the food and overall staff though, we'd love to come back maybe during a more low key time. Thank you for the great service!!!
Great coffee! Strong and well flavored. There food and sweet treats were also amazing. The place was packed so it was a bit of a wait, but i’d say worth it. Highly recommend!
This is my go-to place for a open face breakfast sandwich. All the breads are delicious, but the multi-grain is one of my favorites. The bacon is delicious too! I'm a regular here and I've been coming here not too long after they opened. It's nice to have a local place you can count on for great food as an alternative to the chain restaurants. Also they have a great lunch menu including an awesome basil chicken salad sandwich that I highly recommend.
Friendly service, comfortable spacious eat-in atmosphere, staff well informed about everything they make. Delicious pastries and bread. Excellent sourdough and rye as well as lighter loaves. Everything fresh made that day. Lots of different beverages made by their baristas.
Amazing food and drinks, I also loved the atmosphere of the place and the unique sandwiches they have. The desserts looked amazing, but we didn't try any. The iced coffee I had was made very well, I was able to drink it without adding cream or sugar which is rare at a café. I hav an allergy to sesame and they were great at addressing my concerns with that. The parking lot is tiny and fills up quickly, but there is a free public lot across the street! It's also near the canal so you can take a gorgeous walk after!
I was so excited to eat my sandwich I forgot to take a picture! I had the Lilly with poached egg, ham and brie on a biscuit and a green smoothie. Everything was delicious. The biscuit melted in my mouth. The ambiance was great and the food was ready quickly.
Highly recommend! I stopped by and had one of their many tasty breakfast sandwiches. The sandwich was delicious and the staff was very friendly. They also have a good variety of delicious baked goods. On my way out, I grabbed a half moon cookie which was so good!
I love Village Bakery! We usually go to the Victor location (in the Eastview Mall) but the menu (I think) is the same here and all the food is excellent! The space in Pittsford is a little bigger if you are looking for a sit down breakfast/lunch. Village Bakery is really great with allergies/dietary restrictions and all of the sandwiches I've tried are so good! They bake their own bread and the sourdough is excellent. I love all of their coffee drinks too!
Great place for breakfast or lunch. Amazing breads made fresh daily. I have tried many different kinds and love them all. The chef's do an outstanding job, even when very busy, especially Stephanie. She always has a smile!
This is one of my favorite local cafés. They make incredible breakfast (especially those breakfast sandwiches!!), the staff is friendly and it has a cozy and inviting atmosphere. Always worth a stop if you're in the area.
The best breakfast sandwich I’ve had in a very long time. Latte was awesome too, highly recommend.
Great spot for meet up or just enjoy a delicious coffee and pastry. Friendly service and relaxing atmosphere
Breakfast food is amazing. Wish I had thought to snap a picture before we devoured the sandwiches. Great atmosphere and awesome staff. Lots of indoor and outdoor seating.
I love this place! It’s so cute inside! The cinnamon rolls are soooooooo delicious and the hummus and greens sandwich is scrumptious! The staff is always super busy but always super friendly and accommodating! Keep it up that’s rare these days!
The French toast is good here (very nice appearance for the stuffed kind), and so is the overnight oats. It is expensive food, but it is still worth coming over for it. The ingredients seem like good quality. Being able to choose between indoor or outdoor seating is great, too.
I placed an online order around 9:00 a.m. for a 1050 pickup of a hummus sourdough sandwich that was delicious along with a chicken salad basil sandwich. It was ready for me when I arrived
The have a break at burger on a croissant with bacon jam that is absolutely amazing!!
AJ made my morning 10x brighter and with his knowledge he convinced me to get the most delicious carrot cake donut I have ever had. He also made me a delicious coffee that I will have to have for the rest of my life! Please go it will change your life
Eastview Starbucks was closed so I went to the Village Bakery and had a great experience. The place was packed but I still got fast and friendly service and their cheese danish was the best I have ever had. Highly recommend.
Decided to stop in for breakfast and coffee one Saturday morning. Grabbed an outdoor table and ordered to go. It was super packed and loud inside. You order at the counter, pay and then pick up your drinks/food. Easy breezy! Definitely recommend the green smoothies, iced lavender lattes, and breakfast sandwiches on a biscuit! The biscuits are SO good! The pastries and breads looked amazing! If we were in town longer, we would have returned to try more things. Our next trip, Village Bakery is on top of the list. Service was great. Prices are standard and reasonable, especially for the quality. WORTH IT.
Great bakery. I'm glad this was recommended to give a try. Staff were friendly and the food was amazing. We went three days in a row and tried some different every day. Peanut butter chip cookies were delicious. Looking forward to going back here in the future.
Delicious, fresh bread and excellent egg salad. The wait to order was a little long (it was a Saturday), but well worth the wait.
A bit pricey but overall very good! I ordered a French toast latte and quiche Lorraine. The size if my quiche was equivalent to 2 pieces. Delicious
The last time I was there on a Wednesday, which I always ride my bike from Scottsville to Pittsford bakery I was kind of disappointed when you had two people behind the counter wasn’t busy at all. One was messing with the coffee beans, and the other one was messing with the water. They both seen me. Nobody wanted to take care of me so I left came back the next day, but I didn’t go in the day after that day I did go in and I got served, but it was two different people. I always get the avocado toast and a large lemonade 😔
Evelyn and a Kyoto Coffee, and a bite of the wheat bread off my hubby's Alina... so good! Cheerful and quick service too!
What a lively fun place. Coffee and pastry were delicious. They were nice to an out of towner and made suggestion of places I should see.
Everything was excellent! We enjoyed freshly made breakfast sandwiches, handcrafted lattes, and delicious avocado toast. It’s a great spot—right across from the canal, perfect for a relaxing stroll after breakfast.
Great food! Do yourself favor and get a fresh loaf of bread to go. The Kyoto coffee is awesome.
Stopped in for lunch with the family. I've been to the Victor location, but this is the first time I've been to the Pittsford location. Food is great, place is bustling, and has a very community forward feel. If you are really hungry, I suggest a sandwich and a side, as one sandwich might not fully satiate. But from all of the sandwiches I've had- they are all really good and tasty.
I bought a huge oatmeal cook sandwich. One of the best I've had in a long time. Hayy I had a sweet tooth. 😁😁 next time I'll try the sandwiches. Highly recommend.
Pricey but quality food and large portion sizes. It looks small from the outside but there are tons of places to sit and the food comes out quickly. Highly recommend a latte. I will be back to try the toast sampler.
Get the Betsy. It’s so delicious! We really love it here. It’s our go-to spot for breakfast. Really good coffee and food! Kid friendly options and high chairs are available. There’s plenty of seating inside and out, and maybe 10 parking spots. I’ve never had an issue finding parking, but we go early so that might be why. There’s a lot of public parking next door behind the library if you can’t find anything.
I’ve been to Village Bakery multiple times and always walk away impressed. The service is consistently great, and the space has that perfect clean-but-cozy, modern vibe. Whether you’re into sweet novelty drinks or more classic espresso options, they’ve got something for everyone—including third-wave snobs like me 😉. The oat milk latte is my go-to—easily one of my favorite coffee spots in Rochester.
This was worth the hour drive. The only issue, there were to many great things to try them all. The French toast was amazing with many different flavors. The maple bacon was so flavorful. The build your own breakfast sandwich was delicious and gave you many different options. Also, the cinnamon roll is a must. So delicious! They also have lots of fresh breads and samples. Many coffee options!
This is a nice cafe to sit and work at. Their coffee is pretty good and they have ample seating. The staff is friendly and efficient. Our coffees were out in no time. I think the only downside is it closes relatively early and there aren’t a ton of outlets available. So if you want to come here to do some work try to get here early. It’s right by the eerie canal which is a nice place to walk along with good restaurants nearby also.
Wow! Nothing but great things to say about this bakery and coffee shop! Beautifully designed shop interior, lovely friendly staff, delicious coffee, great breakfast and lunch sandwiches and salads from the menu or design your own. Indoor and outdoor seating. Reasonably priced and extremely fresh food and freshly made bakery items, cookies, rolls, croissants! Don’t pass this place by!
I really enjoyed my breakfast here! I got a make your own breakfast sandwich with a croissant, poached egg, ham, cheddar cheese, and avocado, as well as a green smoothie. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, and my food came out quickly. This location is very spacious and there is ample seating both inside and outside. Great vibes overall. I’ll definitely be back!
The parking lot is quite small and difficult to turn around in, so if you enter and there is no parking space available you may have to reverse out. Luckily someone was leaving as we came in which spared me the anxiety of having to do that! I'd recommend parking on the street or across the street at the library and walking over if you're going during a busy time or have a car that's hard to maneuver in small areas. But the iced coffee and French toast are delicious, and the open face sandwiches have been good the few times I've had them! Avocado toast was underwhelming so I'd pass on that, but there's lots of other good options. There was also a good amount of both indoor and outdoor seating available even though it was fairly busy.
So easy to order online. Pleasant staff, and a great breakfast. I need to spend more time sampling their menu! 😊 Update: 12/02/22. I've lowered my rating to 4 stars today. While still a good rating, I believe the cafe's popularity has combined with the general post-COVID shortage of skilled help and resulted in a lowering of quality coming out of the kitchen. Overcooked eggs and sausage on our sandwich today. Hopefully, they will work to remove these kinks and return to their past quality.
Great food, not great coffee. The Steak & Cheese sandwich was fantastic!!! Would come back for that alone. The coffee (black) was just okay, would not get it again. BEWARE: Pressure to tip when you pay, before you get your food. Yikes!
Delicious food here. The hummus sandwich and the Alex breakfast sandwich are my two personal favorites. Their cold brewed coffee is also awesome. The sweets also do not disappoint. The tea cookies are my favorite. The only downside is it is on the pricier side. The food quality is so good though, it is not surprising to see the price.
Ordered breakfast from the website and that was easy to use. Food was good and my French toast latte was good. My only comment was there was no labeling on the similar items to denote what bread/ allergy was whose. It might been because they are busy or not normal practice I don’t know I’ve never ordered before. I would recommend village bakery as everything I’ve ever had is delish.
Food and drinks are delicious and I appreciate the gluten free options, but the food preparation isn't always consistent and can be hit or miss. Sometimes it can also be tricky to find a table, but just because it's a great breakfast spot.
Servers were kind and the overall atmosphere is amazing. However, the espresso is SUPER burnt and almost inedibly bitter. In addition, despite us going in only 2 hours after opening, they were nearly out of every pastry/baked good. I was very confused, as I expected them to be baking more batches (as the numerous other cafes I’ve been to/worked at do) but was told they only make one batch in the morning.
Haven't been to this location in years, but it is good to see that they expanded. They probably can even expand more, seeing that it looks like that restaurant in the front of the building is no longer there. Very cozy, bright, friendly atmosphere. The service is great. We were just there for a coffee and some baked goods. Couple cookies are a sourdough pan loaf that we absolutely love for avocado toast. Well, worth a stop in if you need a pick me up for the day with their extensive menu of coffee drinks or if you're just looking to satisfy your sweet tooth or stock up on some bread.
More breakfast sandwich options than you might expect from a bakery & coffee place, and a similar number of lunch options. Amazing bacon, egg, & cheese croissant, Belgian mocha is very good, not too sweet. Good hot almond milk matcha. *Excellent* almond croissants! Not much in the way of vegan options.
The atmosphere is quite nice and the workers are nice and polite. I ordered the Florentine quiche. It's a bit expensive for the amount that you get. It tasted as though I had equal parts egg and equal parts dough. If it was made taller there would be more egg, spinach, and onion to bring flavor to it. The coffee is quite nice and they have a water dispenser so you can easily get a free cup of water.
Nice little bakery/cafe combo. Has good coffee, baked goods freshly made in house. Breakfast and lunch service w really good sandwiches and soups. Parking is tricky around the area as the lot only manages about 10 - 12 cars directly at the café. They have expanded their dine in area to accommodate crowds, especially during winter when the outdoor seating isn't possible.
I ordered the Croque Monsieur: brioche, gruyere, ham & bechamel with an egg on top. It came with a dill pickle and bag of chips. It was good but a little dry. My son had the egg salad sandwich and tomato soup. He gave his dishes 5 stars. I am giving them 4 stars only because we had our dogs with us, and ate outside. Their outdoor sitting was unkempt. There were potato chips on the ground, 2 potted plants that were wilting and placed under the umbrellas (why?), and the place was littered with plastic straws and napkins. The potted plants also attracted hornets which kept bothering us during our meal.
For sure the best roast beef sandwich I've ever tasted. Absolutely loved it. I am not giving it 5 stars because I was disappointed that the French onion soup was barely even warm. I was sitting outside on a fall day and was very excited to have a piping hot cup of soup. That was a disappointment but otherwise it was a great experience.
This place has been great every time my wife have gone there to eat in. Now that we have a newborn, I decided to get some takeout for breakfast. I ordered online and picked it up. When I returned home, I found that they had completely missed her order of oatmeal, and the cinnamon swirl french toast that we ordered to share was just regular french toast. They refunded my money for the oatmeal, but that still meant that my wife had nothing to eat.
Great cafe bakery, but held back by inconsistent and bad service. Sometimes is fine, sometimes you wait 30 minutes for a sandwich when there's very few people there. Drinks are forgotten often, or if they're not forgotten, often come slightly wrong. The place has been open for years and they still can't seem to fixe these problems, it's somewhat baffling. For instance, just today when we ordered the toast sampler they forgot the type of toast we specifically ordered. If you're lucky to havw good service the place is great. The sandwiches and coffee are all quality. Bread is great.
Decent location. It's small, but not claustrophobic. As a bakery, the items were fantastic. My party had some breakfast items as well. Both types of sausage were lacking, needing seasonings/flavor. Avocado toast was good. Cinnamon swirl French toast was good. Stuffed French toast was not great - outside was very dry, not enough cream cheese to balance the flavor, the fruit compote was good but not enough to deal with the dryness. I think we'll have to go again and try more items.
Village Bakery breakfast food is amazing, especially their pastries. Not a fan of their coffee. I used to go there every morning but after a while I got tired of the average service. It’s just so annoyingly not aligned with the quality of the place… while the personnel is not plain rude, they just don’t make any effort; to say the least, I have met more friendly TSA agents… Now I’m not asking to be on a secret-handshake-level, but maybe a smile or friendly « hello » once in while? I literally come everyday… anyway. I’ll just get myself a $12 yogurt elsewhere from now on.
Good, above average food, drinks, and space. Kid friendly 5/10. order and pickup at the counter. friendly staff. open seating. veggie sandwich was too salty. selection is sufficient to find a compromise for every taste.
Not enough places to sit. Food was great...delish chicken salad
I love coming to this location because I work in the village and it's a healthier option in walking distance. I appreciate the reconfiguration of the queue, and I always get a flourless chocolate torte each time I go. I typically order online or over the phone ahead of time, so it's usually a salad or cold sandwich. And while I love my regular fare (usually a treat since it's not cheap, maybe every couple months), I regularly have issues with my orders, whether it's busy or slow. Missing parts of my order, missing orders altogether, 45 min wait times for scheduled pickup, etc. It's 100% a management issue; I've worked food service and I know management never listens unless a customer says something, so here I am. But never have I gotten any kind of apology, never have they comped me or given any apology coupons or the like. Accidents happen, people are human. But there should be policy and training around fixing mistakes. I've been coming for years, so I know it's a policy issue (since there's been turnover.) So it's a bit disappointing that such an expensive salad doesn't even get you a face-to-face with the manager hiding in the back. Lessons learned: don't choose here if you're on a schedule, ask for a receipt, pay attention to who ordered ahead and behind you, and always check your order before leaving if it's to-go.
I’ve been here numerous times over the years. The main issue continues to be the laptop people who occupy most of the tables in the space. Today for instance you have one person on a computer sitting at a 4 person table. This accounted for the majority of tables. I took my business elsewhere.
I come to village bakery, a LOT. But today their food was not hitting the mark. I usually get their great breakfast or lunch sandwiches, but today I was feeling a bit healthier and opted for their Harvest Salad. It sounded great, and I have had their other salads in the past. I remember them being very rum bust and having tons of flavor, and today I was disappointed with some romaine, a few apple slices, and a strange salty flavor. It was also in a small bowl. The flavor was just not there, and for $10?! I expect a lot more from Village Bakery. At least I should be getting some protein and maybe some avocado for the price. I only took a few bites before putting the lid back on. Please do better.
Update 2021: The quality and service have gone down quite a bit at this location in Pittsford. Most of the time now our online order is wrong when we go to pickup. The sausage used to be thicker than the 1/4 inch sausage they use now and they burn the eggs a lot. Culver Rd much better as far as not messing up the order. Took 1 star off. Get there early if you want a seat! That's my only gripe is not enough seating. Food is awsome especially the egg salad sandwich . never thought I would say that!
Long time patron, love this place. Never thought to leave a review until I had a bad experience. Group in front of me ordered, was still making up my mind so I let an elderly couple go ahead of me. They got a loaf of bread, the cashier took several minutes to cut it up, understandable. But as she took my order another lady behind the counter told her something, she questioned it three times and then looked at me, apologized, and said the kitchen was closed at 3:00. I checked my phone, it was exactly 3:00pm. I asked if they could make an exception because I was in line 5-10 minutes but the cash register must have a padlock on it at 3pm because they wouldn’t serve me. Bummer. Also docked a star because they took the Mediterranean salad off the menu and that was truly an awesome meal.
I ordered online and picked it up, I paid $7.50 for a quiche. I was expecting a decent sized plate but I ended up getting a super small portion. It can probably take 3 bites to eat. My smoothie was also like $7 and it pretty good but still small
Iced coffee tasted fermented and burnt. Ordered oatmeal with berries and got 2 slices of strawberries and a few blueberries. Staff was not very friendly and seemed judgmental. Will not be returning.
I really miss the assistant manager, Mei. It’s not the same without her
At first I liked going there cause it's one of the few decent food places in the mall. However, the vibes is always off and customer service needs improvement. Some of the food aren't properly seasoned, some soups are too watery and some drinks don't have much taste to them. The pastries taste wonderful. With so many menu options, you'd think some decent amount of infornation would be provided. It's like you're expected to know their menu and how it's prepared. So far, I've ordered breakfast, and lunch. As a vegetarian, the menu is not very vegetarian friendly. I will no longer be going there because I was put off by two rude, dismissive and ignorant employees.
Fix online ordering process - why am I submitting an order for asap at 1:30 and the pickup time is set to 2:30? If I knew that I wouldn’t have ordered it. Plus when I got there, people ordered and got their food in much less than an hour…..
I'm never the type to leave reviews as I've worked in the restaurant industry before, but I thought I'd share our take-out experience. We were picking up 2 orders. One order had a full sandwich, and the second order had 2 half sandwiches. We got a notification saying the first order was ready (full sandwich) and we were waiting on the second order. The girl doing the take out orders gives us the 1st sandwich and we are patiently waiting for the 2nd for about 10 minutes. The line cook asks her what we were waiting on and she told her we were waiting on one more sandwich. The line cook tells her she put both of the sandwiches together (2 completely different sandwiches) and that didn't make sense because what if there was an allergy. So we get back to work, and notice there is a sandwich missing, AFTER they told us it was in the bag. Of course we double checked to make sure we had everything we needed, trusting they had put the 2 half sandwiches in one, but clearly they were wrong. They also forgot the lemon bar in our order. Please take this review in consideration and come up with a better system for take out orders.
Stopped for breakfast on Sunday, May 28. Ordered a scrambled egg sandwich (Evelyn) and a quiche, to stay. Waited (a long time) for the order to come up, and picked it up as soon as it was placed on the counter. Brought it our table, and neither the sandwich or quiche were even warm. How can that be? Although the food was good quality, we didn't enjoy it at all. Won't be back.
I've been here twice now and they've messed my order up both times. I pay 10.20 for yogurt and granola with fruit added and they don't even give me the granola. I get a sandwich without tomato and mayo, it has both. I've worked in food service for 10 years and never found such a consistent inability to read an order ticket. Always order take out and it's too busy to check your order, but I shouldn't even need to.
Wonderful food and great staff, however really poor communication about the wait for a sandwich. After ordering I waited about 40 minutes. I don’t mind a wait, but probably would have skipped food if I had known how slammed they were with mobile and to go orders. I went up to the counter to request a refund and my food came out. The amount of to go orders waiting on the counter was truly astounding, I feel bad for the staff here. At a minimum they should give folks a heads up on a wait and should probably consider curbing the amount of online ordering if they hope to keep folks interested in dining in.
Do you know what a latte looks like? instead of just changing my order because it looked like an Americano with milk, the taste was terrible they started to prove me wrong, almost belittling my knowledge "because I don't understand what a latte should look like". I felt extremely uncomfortable in this place, now I just avoid it
