Food is awesome. Wide variety of items. The items are not too spicy or oily unlike other restaurants. Price is reasonable as well. Would definitely recommend this for vegetarian folks who like South Indian food.
I am a regular customer of Malgudi Garden and it is a great option for vegetarians in the North Dallas area. Their buffet offers a very good value for money since you can choose from a vast menu. I recently got their catering service for an event and happy with the food and prompt delivery. I had a special requirement of food without onion and garlic and they did a good job with it.
These people had me grinning from ear to ear on my drive home. Downloaded ToGoodToGo last night and spontaneously snagged a reservation for Malgudi Garden’s Bring Your Own Containers (up to 5) for $6.99 (total). I have never tried this place and thought it was a great deal for some meal prepping. Walked in with 4 containers, thinking 2 of them were a little large. I was very wrong. The staff was extremely generous and definitely provided 💯🙏🏽 can’t wait to try more of their dishes.
One of our favorite place to eat.. We did catering with this restaurant and they never disappoint us in serving the delicious food. Their Idli, chutney’s and veg Biryani are SUUUPER YUM… Our guest totally enjoyed their food and appreciated.. It’s always fresh, flavorful, and full of variety. After being impressed with their catering, we recently visited Malgudi Gardens for their dinner buffet. They have a lot of variety in their buffet and we enjoyed every bite we eat there. We all liked almost everything. It’s a vegetarian restaurant and the BEST part is their food is NOT too much Oily and not too spicy. Our kiddos were able to eat it too. Everything was so perfect. The staff is incredibly kind and their hospitality really stands out.. Highly recommend!
This restaurant is a gem for anyone who loves authentic Indian vegetarian food. The buffet is outstanding and packed with options. They have live dosa stations, live pani puri, and live chaats, which are all made fresh right in front of you. The garlic naan comes out hot and soft, the bhature are perfectly fluffy, and there are so many delicious subzis to choose from. The mango lassi and tea are fantastic, and the variety of traditional Indian sweets is impressive. The food quality is consistently excellent, everything tastes fresh, and the flavors are spot-on. The staff is warm, polite, and hardworking — I truly appreciate everyone for making the experience so enjoyable. This place is absolutely worth visiting!
we were here on Friday night 12/05. The north Indian veg buffet is very good. All the items we had are upto the mark. The spice ratios were perfectly used. No extra oil in any item. The live counters of dosa/chaat/bhel/pani puri/ dahi puri are perfect spot for the kids and youngsters. We would love to come back.
Found this gem from the too good to go app. The food is amazing and fresh and the staff is very friendly. I was treated to my first taste of dosa with coconut chetni (spelling) today while picking up my order and it was made fresh at a cooking station in front of the restaurant and delicious. Thank you Roshan for the kindness and always taken care of me when I come.
The buffet was great. Pizza (with an indian flavor) many types of rice & other pasta / breads, then 5 or 6 types of main dishes, salads, fruit, etc too Malgudi Garden While in Texas for the Gun Rights Policy Conference 2017, I stopped by this Indian Restaurant & Buffet for dinner in east Dallas. It is GREAT !! Vegetarian Buffet at Malgudi Garden in Plano, Texas The flavors were out of this world, this is the way i like to eat new foods, at a buffet where I can sample all and learn what I like best Cant go wrong in a vegetarian restaurant though, it will all be good
Obsessed with this place! I’d say it’s the best Indian vegetarian buffet in DFW. Their specials change often. Literally for lunch it can be shoulder to shoulder people sometime. But the food is so good. I love their bisebelebath and their paneer. Their idlis are also amazing!! So is the Vada & Sambar. So good! They have a live dosa bar most days too. So fun and tasty
I ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ ❤️ this atmosphere, hospitality and food! After ten years, I got creamy, flavorful, aromatic Butter paneer… it was unbelievable and authentic. We reached lil late but buffet was super duper delicious, fresh, authentic! Each dish has own taste, flavor and no spicy at all, free from like throwing spices which is common in other Indian restaurants…. I really relished each and every bites was amazing! I’m foodoholic but if my tastebuds is not satisfied, I won’t recommend at all. So go for without any hesitation, every Friday, they have Karaoke and also everyday is specific meal day! Love it 😍
We ordered thali to go for our family ( kids and elders as well ), the packing was amazing and the food quality was excellent. For the price you pay, ( not like how you pay in other Indian restaurants especially like honest - where just for a small quantity they charge u a lot ) the quantity was sumptuous for lunch and I will order any day for my office lunch. Plus, if you order in Uber there is not delivery charge and u only pay a service fee .. overall it was great
They are fine dine restaurant. They shouldn’t be using plastic and thermostat vessels in the buffet. They removed the ceramic cups. Food is good but they are keeping less steel cups and this is very annoying. Not t enough cups. The management must visit international buffets in the area. Their food quality is good. They can increase the price but not cut down on dining vessels for the guests.
"Great Indian Vegetarian Buffet at a Great Price!" One of the few pure veg buffets in the city, this place offers excellent value for money. There’s a good variety of dishes, a pleasant ambiance, and a live counter serving freshly made dosa and appam. I visited around 7 PM for an early dinner when the food was fresh, so my review is based on that experience. A must-visit for vegetarian food lovers!
Service was good. Cannot complain. Atmosphere: not a date night place, but for what it is cannot complain. Food. Varieties pretty decent. Flavor not so good, IMO. None of the dishes hit the spot. Worst was the Jalebi, they should never should call that Jalebi. Idli, rumali roti,, naan, batura channa, panneer, lassi, basundi were good. Dosa depends on who makes it...but not that great. Suggestion: if they fix the Jalebi, make the sides taste good, I think they will be a great choice.
Ive been in DFW all my life and been going here since I was a kid, but the last few years my family and I hadnt been, so we thought lets pay a visit, bad idea. The atmosphere was as lively as we remember it to be, however the restraunt felt... bad. The buffet style was missing food, and it took foreever for my food to come. After we got the food however we were still dissapointed. The food tastes... bland. Incredibly bland. Me and my family honestly just left dissapointed and ended up getting better food from elsewhere. Very dissapointed in the deteriorating serivce and food from these past few years, wishing yall make a comeback someday.
This restaurant has gone downhill on all fronts since I last visited it few years ago. Food taste and choices in buffet are so basic and unattractive that even its buffet we have to leave the restaurant semi-hungry. Sweet itsm is a joke like Chocklate cake was so hard based that I wont it it if thats the last food on earth. The only good thing is Live Counter for Dosa and Appam. Unfortunately that too disappointed me due to quality and presentation. Ambience is almost nothing to talk about, South Indian Music, walls are dull, lighting arrangements was inadequate, etc. Anyway, I sincerely liked this restaurant on my last visit I guess 5 years ago. It had some kind of vibrancy, food tasted much better, waiting staff were full of enthusiasm (this time only 1 lady, Nagashree, showed somewhat similar ethos but others were showing dragged and forced demeanor). Anyway, deleting it from my list of favorites.
Went for the lunch buffet, and overall, it was a disappointing experience. The plates were not clean, and there were no napkins available—we had to ask for them before they brought some. The Paneer Butter Masala was really bad. They offered live dosa, appam, and pani puri, but while the dosa was good, the appam and pani puri were just okay. The sweets were also average. Overall, the experience was just okay and not worth the money for the buffet. For me, the food quality was not great, and it felt like a waste of money
Worst service You have to remind them 3-4 times. People who are working at the restaurant don’t have a sense of urgency. Restaurant business runs on food quality, cleanliness and service. This restaurant lacks everything Service is very bad and unacceptable By the time you get your food order it’s cold You loose your appetite. Will not return.
I visited Malgudi on January 1st, 2026 with my family and a friend’s family. This was my first time there, although my friend had been before. I have never seen a place as chaotic as Malgudi was that day. There was an hour-long wait, and once we were finally seated, we discovered that most of the food was already over. They took an extremely long time to refill the trays, and even when they did, it was never enough for the number of people waiting for food. They even ran out of disposables and had to use to‑go containers instead of bowls. No one was clearing tables, so we ended up throwing away our own disposables just to make space. They should have limited the number of guests once it was clear they couldn’t serve everyone. Turning people away would have been far better than providing such poor service. The only saving grace was the live chaat and dosa counter. I will not recommend this restaurant to anyone after such an experience.
I went to this depressing restaurant on New Year’s day 2026 and wish I could erase it from my memory, instead it was just money down the drain. Firstly we had called the restaurant to reserve a spot, and the guy who answered wrote our name down and said it was a 30 min wait. We arrived at the restaurant in less than 10 min after making the phone call. Once we went inside and gave the guy our name, he said he was not able to hold our reservation. What was the point of calling? Instead we ended up waiting 2.5 hours. The waitstaff was completely useless and disorganized - he was writing down names on a paper plate. The waiting area was so cramped and disorganized because the waitstaff had no idea how to handle a large crowd. When we finally got to our table, we noticed that right behind us was a large table where they kept dirty towels and there were dirty napkins all over the ground. Now comes the part that made me want to jump off the top of malgudi - the actual food. Calling the food they had is a disgrace to food, even my dog would have not eaten it. All of the food containers in the buffet line were empty for at least 25-30 min. Can you imagine waiting in a line for 2.5hours after your reservation was cancelled for no reason just to wait another 30 min for the food to be replaced? When the food was finally replaced, it was so bad I was seriously considering going to the Subway next door. In hindsight it would’ve been much more cheaper and more satisfying. The New Years food menu felt like a hospital menu. The vada could’ve been used as a blunt force trauma weapon, the sambar could’ve been used to clean the inside of pipes, and the biryani could’ve been used as glue. Honestly the only good thing on the menu was the plain white rice. All in all, this is one of the worst restaurant experiences I’ve ever had in my life. I will never be returning to Malgudi and will make sure I will never send my friends and family there. Maybe I’ll recommend Malgudi to someone I don’t like.. even then I don’t think they would deserve such terrible food.
Worst service! Extremely slow. No one comes to take your order unless you go to counter and say them again n again to send some one. Didn’t try buffet but food doesn’t tasted good. I have ordered Uthappam, we got it as not fully cooked. Other item ordered is garlic naan, kulcha and Malai Methi paneer which was just ok ok. Not worth the money.
I’ve been to this restaurant many times, but had a horrible experience during my latest visit. It was buffet night, and they were also serving bhature from the kitchen. The buffet was supposed to start at 6 PM — we arrived around 6:10, and nothing was ready. It finally started around 6:30 with only a few items out. We told the server right away that we wanted bhatures. She said they weren’t ready yet. Fine. We waited 15 minutes, asked again — still not ready. Asked again after another 10 minutes — still nothing. At this point I went to the manager, who told me “10 minutes.” That turned into another 30 minutes. And then the best part? I watched the server happily serve bhature to other tables while completely ignoring us. When we asked her again, she actually said, “You could have reminded me.” Seriously? How many times were we supposed to remind her? We’d been doing nothing but reminding her. Her attitude was rude, she talked back, and it honestly shocked me. She showed zero professionalism or basic manners. We finally had enough, paid, and walked out. I told the guy at the front desk the entire experience, and he couldn’t have cared less. Gave a fake “sorry” and didn’t even bother to ask what happened or try to make anything right. And it doesn’t stop there — they only serve samosas at 7 PM, and they never refilled them. We didn’t even get to taste one. Same with the custard — never refilled the entire time we were there. This was hands down one of the most frustrating and disappointing dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The service was careless, the staff was rude, and the whole operation felt unorganized. I don't think I am ever going to this restaurant again.
