Opinions de De La Torre's Trattoria Pleasanton
Delicious food! We shared the calamari fritti while I had the tagliatelle bolognese, our friend had the linguine alla marinara, and my husband had the special, pork chops saltimbocca. Service was swift and Carlos checked on us often, pouring wine when glasses were low. We all had dessert as well and those were tasty. The woman owner/manager can be friendlier and offer up a smile now and then!
I had the spaghetti and meatballs, along with the fried calamari appetizer and minestone' soup. The pasta is fresh, the meat balls perfect in every respect. The marinara was fresh, homemade, and delicious. The soup was spectacular! I will definitely eat at De La Torre's again, and I highly recommend them.
This hidden gem really rocked our food world! So much that we went back the next day too! Ambiance: delightful Service: Impeccable Food: Exquisite I couldn't believe this place has been around for almost 30 years... I wish I would have known about them years ago... Now you have the memo... Go! You will be extremely happy. We had the steak, lasagna, salad, meatballs and really good wine. Enjoy and Salud!
Outstanding Italian food. I had the minestrone soup for the first time. I liked it a lot. Very good service. My favorite Italian restaurant in Pleasanton.
This is hands down the best classic family style Italian restaurant I know of in the East Bay. There are lots of great Italian places with excellent food, but this place feels like a place Tony Corleone would insist the family eat at. All ambiance aside, the food here is incredible. The classics are some of the best I've ever had. The lasagna was especially delicious, but we both really enjoyed the classic spaghetti and meatballs as well. Paired with the house Chianti, there really isn't a dish we haven't enjoyed on the three trips we have made out here from Oakland. Service is great and prices are reasonable. Definitely a must try!
Amazing food. The homemade meatballs with the spaghetti are incredible. The lasagna is better than your Mom's. One piece of advice: save room for dessert. I had a warm toffee butter cake with vanilla ice cream that should be illegal because it was so sinfully good. I should also mention that the restaurant itself is small and cozy. The staff is beyond great - everyone is polite, professional, and very helpful. This is one of the best restaurants in the Tri-Valley area. Period.
Ate here for the first time tonight: Hostess was somewhat indifferent Bread guy was indifferent Waiter was reasonably welcoming, but he warmed as the night moved on. Stopped in early on a Tuesday night, about 5:30. Hostess seated us at a booth at the back of restaurant near the kitchen, but nice enough anyway. I went to wash my hands: Bathroom was exceptional, spotless and beautiful! The bread was brought to the table, and it was a couple of good bread sticks, and an array of fresh Italian bread. We ordered the house Burgundy (have not had Burgundy previously), and it was quite good. We started with the tomato, burrata and arugula salad with vinaigrette, very good. My wife ordered the chicken and mushroom risotto with truffle oil for her main course, and she thought it was very good. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, hands down the best I have ever had, delicious! The waiter warmed as the dinner moved along, and he was attentive and provided solid service, checking regularly but not too often to be disruptive. Even the "bread and water guy" got friendlier as dinner moved along. We ordered a dessert of affogato, delicious, and followed up with very cappuccinos. I was truly impressed with the ambiance, cleanliness, food, and the service. I had not dined at De La Torres Trattoria previously, but my wife works nearby and has been there for lunch on a few occasions. She assumed I would not like the strip mall feel of the place, but once you walk inside it is the perfect little neighborhood Italian restaurant, very nice ambiance and terrific food. We will be back soon. I really liked it! Note: I looked at the "Dinner Menu" prior to our visit, and it looked okay. What I discovered is that their "Specials Menu" has quite a number of nice offerings. Apparently the specials are updated daily, so I suggest a look at the "Specials Menu" prior to arrival. It will give you an opportunity to ponder all the wonderful options before you arrive. Enjoy!
De La Torres Trattoria in Pleasanton is an absolute gem! The restaurant is cute and quaint, giving off such a cozy, welcoming vibe. We were seated right away, and from the start, the service was impeccable—friendly and incredibly attentive. You can really tell it’s a family-owned place, with such warmth and care put into every aspect of the experience. The food? Amazing! Every dish was delicious, and the flavors felt fresh and authentic. It’s the perfect spot for a lovely date night or even a casual meet-up with colleagues. Truly, an all-around wonderful experience—I can't recommend it enough!
We have been going here for 30 years. Fantastic food. Never disappoints.
Great local traditional Italian restaurant. Friendly sevice and large portions
Delicious angel hair pasta with meatballs and red meat sauce!!!! I will go back soon for more!!!! Thank you !!!!!
This is a real hidden gem ... The location is unassuming (but very convenient to get to and to park) and from the outside it doesn't look like anything special, but once you open the door the magic starts. The food is fantastic! It's just had to stop eating, it's really good. The service is great. The decor sets a proper mood. And the prices are totally reasonable. Full disclosure, it does feel a bit like visiting your aunt (a good one!), so it's not a "high energy place". But if you are looking for something cozy, relaxing, tasty and comfy - you can't go wrong. And they do take outs too.
Great ambiance, great food, and good service. I would definitely recommend giving it a try. I used the crutches this time, but looks easily wheelchair accessible.
How have I been in the tri valley since 2008 and never been here? This place is fantastic! I loved the rustic charm, the atmosphere, the furniture the food and the service. I had the pleasure of speaking to the owners daughter who shared the fact they’ve been there for 30 years. I have driven by so many times going to the market next door and had no idea what was behind those doors. An absolute must try. The food was superb and the affogato was the best one I’ve ever had. I will be back!
went out for a wonderful dinner here on a Friday eve. Ordered the steak special and the Crab and Shrimp Ravioli special and they were so very good. The atmosphere was relaxing and very enjoyable. And the service was impeccable. Plus we spluged for dessert! Cannoli was VERY enjoyable as was the warm apple pie w vanilla bean ice cream. This is definitely one of my favorite places for date night!
This place is a "jewel" find! Visiting the area and felt like some good Italian, but didn't feel like driving all the way back to the City. Researched several different places in the Pleasanton/Dublin area, but this one looked the most authentic. Upon entry, the place is very quaint and nicely decorated. It was interesting to learn that the restaurant has been in business for more than 25yrs (same owners)! The food, the service and the drink selection were 'par excellente' and the servers were very attentive and prompt, while providing enough 'space' to enjoy the meal and our conversation. Will definitely be coming back to this place when back in the area. Come to think of it, we'd drive all the way from SF to try out some more items on the dinner and dessert menu! Grazie mille!!
I am in love with this little gem. Tucked away like a hidden Italian realm in the Lucky's parking lot, De La Torre's offers total welcome, total comfort, and a total lack of pretense. By the third visit everyone there knew my name and was using it. You can tell that people are at the heart of this place. There are no visible signs of technology anywhere on the dining floor. No blinking lights. No screens or QR codes—just gentle lighting and really kind REAL people. The owner herself is the person who comes to greet you at the door. As a vegetarian who doesn't like eggplant, my Italian options are extremely limited. I'm basically in it for a mushroom risotto, or for my favorite: spaghetti agilo e olio e peperoncino. Plenty of places don't have it on the menu and won't make it even if I explain it. The people at De La Torre's knew what I wanted right away. It is a deceptively simple dish with very few ingredients, and that means every part of it has to be good. This place absolutely nails it. The pasta is delicious; the olive oil is delicious; the peppers are fantastic and full of flavor. It is easy for businesses to make me feel unwanted. I'm an admittedly overly sensitive person, and I only ask to go out to dinner when I've had a rough day, so I'm always walking in upset and stressed out. Minor looks and interactions with staff members have made me feel unwanted and turned me off from many places after my first visit. Not here. I really felt like every single person liked me and wanted me there. They didn't care if I asked for something weird that wasn't on the menu, or if I had no clue about wine (except to know when I liked it), or if I asked to have my salad at the same time as my entree—they were just all wonderful human beings to be around. We have lived in Pleasanton for four years and never felt like we found our recurring date spot—this place is it. I basically plan on living at De La Torre's every time I can find a babysitter.
This place is cozy, and comforting with great food & wine. Well-decorated for Christmas, gives a festive vibe as you go in. We ordered chianti red wine, Pizza, and gnocchi everything was just perfect. Pizza crust and the way it's made in the brick oven gave an amazing taste. Loved every bite of it. It was a birthday celebration for us so we also got a Slice of chocolate cake on the house. It was sooooo good. Definitely going back there to try their other dishes on the menu.
AMAZING food!!! Fresh, authentic Italian food at a reasonable price. Of all the great restaurants we visited in the area during our trip - this one was hands down - our favorite. All four of us ordered different dishes and we all loved what we were served. I would have happily eaten there every night for the remainder of our trip. Don't let its location in a strip mall fool you: I would highly recommend this place for dinner, entertaining guests, etc. #LetsGuide
We came here to celebrate Father's Day on the night of the 19th and we were pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious. I had been craving salmon for a few weeks and was pleased with what I got. The mashed potatoes were also done well. Husband got the tilapia and the end was a little overcooked but otherwise delicious. The small one got a kid's size of spaghetti and a meatball which he enjoyed. The atmosphere was pleasant and we really enjoyed being there. Would definitely try again.
This place is in a a very weird spot but the food speaks for itself. I have been here a number of times and have yet to have a bad meal. The food is delicious and prices are on par with other Italian reatraunts. However prices are low for how good the food is.... But again, very weird location. This place is the 2nd beat Italian in the Trip Valley, behind Terra Mia in Livermore.
Dinner with friends. 4 different delicious meals. Service was very good. Friend stated. "Desert the best I've ever had".
Absolutely delicious! The serving size is enormous! Flavorful! Ambiance is warm and inviting. Servers are excellent! I highly recommend this restaurant!
Good food good service.. Definitely call to make reservations before showing up. No free refills on the bread like olive garden but pretty good spot nonetheless... and 10x better than olive garden... ravioli and the calamari appetizers are amazing too...

Just wanted a quick bite as on a road trip, we were in and out in about 30 mins. Tummies full happy faces. Cozy authentic atmosphere.

We called to make sure we could get in as it was close to closing time. They were very accommodating. The food and wait staff were wonderful!
Food was amazing! Linguine Alla Pesto was yum and toffee cake was decadent. Will def go back again. Price was reasonable compared to the other restaurants in town.

The Tortellini Alla Panna was delicious. I found it odd though that they they charge for bread. Did not take away from the enjoyable experience.
Love the dining experience, and service is exceptional. The food is great. This place is just shy of eating at Grandma's house. Keep up the good work, and refine your most special Italian dishes. Keep it simple, but elegancia!!!
Nice place, nice staff, good food. Great time on second visit too. Lamb shank was tasty and substantial. Would be nice to have a few vegetables with it. All food for party was good. Guy who got king salmon thought portion was small, but good. Thought berry cobbler could have more berries. Crispy ravioli appetizer was a hit.
We came here early New Year's Eve for our first visit ever to this restaurant. They squoze us in last minute if we came right at 5 and promised to leave by 6. We were happy to get a table at all, so we happily accepted. The staff was friendly upon arrival and let the 4 or 5 couples who had arrived just before opening to sit inside while the restaurant prepared to start serving. Our server was awesome. Very polite and attentive. We brought our own wine, and he quickly opened it for us before giving us time to browse the menu. The scallops were very tasty and perfectly cooked. Mashed potatoes were good but a little dry. I got the Capellini, which I was happy to find it spicier than anticipated. Perfect for me, but for super mild eaters, probably a different dish or less spice would be better. Again, it was perfect for me and I was delighted with it. Portions were also perfect for us and not the standard American huge plate style. They were definitely more European in size and we appreciated it. We were in a rush, because we'd promised to be out in an hour due to their huge rush that night, but next time, we will probably partake in an appetizer or desert, when we have the time to eat and enjoy it. $18 dollar corkage fee, a little on the high side for this level of dining, but we were so happy with the experience here, we will definitely be returning!
Reservations recommended. De La Torre's is a small Italian restaurant next to the Lucky's off of Las Positas. We were seated right away and catered to the very minute we came kn through the doors. The whole crew/family was very friendly and attentive. The food was delish and we will definitely come back! <3
My party of 4 sat outside on a warm Saturday evening in September at 7 PM. The table was well set and ready for us, although a bit small given the number of things we ordered. The receptionist was attentive and friendly. The tablecloth, napkins etc were neat and clean. The wine list appeared reasonably extensive and good value. We had a bottle of chilled Fritz Haag resiling for $39 and juices. The resiling was OK and a little under chilled, but given the warm temperature outdoors, we drank it all. For starters we had Fried artichokes, Bruschetta and calamari. The food was delicious and well-seasoned and prepared and presented. The bruschetta was a little soft, but the crisp calamari and artichokes made up for it. In fact, the artichokes were a tad over fried. We also ordered a large Carafe of Burgundy which was a great complement to the main dishes. The price was just right at $17. We had the lamb shanks, linguine alla marinara and the prawn Gamberini saltate. The food was excellent and as home cooked as you could get in a restaurant. It wasn't cloyingly rich like at Macaroni grill and was seasoned just right. the portions were large and good value. Pepe the server was outstanding and was exceedingly obliging. We ended the meal with a portion of delectable toffee buttercake, vanilla creme brulee and cappucino. The coffee was good but just a tad cold. I have just a couple of suggestions for the owner - if a bottle of white is ordered, it would have been nice to have it in an ice bucket with a napkin, to keep it chilled. Sharp at 10 PM, we were rudely interrupted by two wait staff (not Pepe) and told that the place was closing. The two men thereafter started noisily folding the tables and putting away the chairs and we felt a bit bundled out and quickly took our leave. A quiet/private advance notice by the waiter around 9:45 would have done the trick a lot better. All in all we had a great evening and would recommend the tables, if it's not too warm a day
Service was good. Atmosphere, despite strip mall location, was relaxed yet elegant. First course of salad was fresh, although the presentation and inspiration were lacking. Main course - a special of ravioli with spinach and chicken - was excellent, rich, and made with a fabulous brown butter sauce. Overall, a solid lunch.
They start with the lovely choice of breads. The Pizza is wonderful, but you really should eat it there it's just not the same as home. They also make a great Caesar salad practically covered with shaved Parmesan cheese and homemade croutons of course Everything I've had there has been delicious. Even their house Chianti is good. It's in a strip mall yeah. but when you step inside you would never know. Tom the owner and Chef, is great. When he's got time he'll come around and say hi to the customers & answers any questions one might have. It's a charming and classy place for a good authentic Italian meal. Delicioso!! shall I go on?
The atmosphere felt like a nice little Italian place. I liked the decor they chose. The food was okay. The guys I went there with were very disappointed with their meals. The salmon wasn't cooked very well (it was very wet) and the lasagna was good, but nothing amazing.
Two years later and still very good with now having daily specials that are outstanding. Mine today was boneless quail stuffed with wildrice panroasted and served with pan gravy.
Went there with a party of 5. We are in the area for work and found a restaurant with my same last name so of course we had to check it out!!!! The food was fantastic!!!! Too bad our server was being a complete B! Getting annoyed asking her recommendations and pouring wines! Wanted to ask about the restaurant but she was not having it. Good thing we had good friends and the the food was great def would go back hopefully sit in another server’s section.

Food was decent overall. The table bread was pretty good but the bread sticks were a little stale. I ordered the gnocchi. The gnocchi had a good texture but the sauce tasted purely like tomato and not much else.
I had veal Scallopini with marsala sauce with pasta. I don’t understand why they put marinara sauce on my pasta. They should just add pasta and drizzle or toast it with marsala sauce. Marinara and marsala does not go together. Rigatoni’s taste better than this.
We came in just after the dinner rush and waited a bit for someone to realize they had a customer ..? There's a big wall blocking the dining area for privacy maybe...that also blocks the front door from the staff. Weird plan. The food was fine. I had a pizza. They had some appetizer ravioli thing that was surprisingly really good. A unique appetizer. The servers were super friendly and laughed with us. It seemed like a quiet place. I think I would go back for friendly service and to try something else to better gauge the restaurant. The restaurant was empty and they sat a loud family right next to us ahha. We get it but....one table away wouldve been enough to prevent kids jumping on the seats bumping our seats.

First impressions are important. I walked in and there was a very odd odor, a mix between an old place and a bathroom. The lady at the counter seemed confused as to why I was there (I was dressed in a suit, but still). She was very nice after I stated I wanted a seat for one. Looking past the odor, the ambiance was nice. The service was pretty good. The complimentary bread (only one basket is complimentary, reasonable) was good, but odd in a way. The bread and butter where both cold, so spreading it was a trick, but I got it! The main course came out very quick, almost to quick, as if it was mostly ready before I ordered, but it was good. I had the Tortellini dish. It was not the biggest portion I had ever had, but it was sufficient (maybe a little more for the price would be nice, but sufficient). I had the cannoli for dessert and it was very good. I've eaten at a lot of Italian restaurants over the years and this was one of the best cannolis I've had (top three). Overall, I think a freshening up is in order and a little less suprise when someone new enters the establishment, but the food is good. Maybe I got an off night. The local regulars seem to like it, though they were an older clientele. Give it a try, at least once!
We stopped by to have dinner coming home to Marin County. The water was not as friendly and attentive. But he friendly to another table. The food was decent. Not what I expected.

I bookmarked this local restaurant after watching the Kqed program Check Please and we finally made it there on a Saturday night. It is in a strip mall but it was cosy inside and wait staff were friendly. The place was very busy and we waited for like 30 minutes for our main dishes. The bigger disappointment though is the food - we ordered the halibut on the special menu after we were told that the kitchen couldn't make salmon on the rare side; the halibut was breaded but not tender; creamy sauce was overpowering and the veggie on the side was steamed broccoli; we also ordered the pasta with prawns and scallops. Again sauce was overpowering; the prawns were plasticky and had a very strange taste to it - certainly not fresh! Our server took the drink off the check after she apologized for the long wait. We appreciated it and left her a good tip but overall the experience was a disappointment.
I have been eating Italian food for 10+ years and I am not giving 2 starts impulsively. First of all, they made me hold the phone for a good long time and got the feeling the guy was chitchatting with other customers instead of quickly taking the order. Then it felt it was hard to make him understand what is being ordered. But i think he may have been a kid so i will give them a pass on that. Now food - - pizza was wrong! chicken with veggies was ordered. chicken missing. so it got converted into a veggie pizza which lacked salt slightly and was greasy - chicken parmesan - chicken was rubbery and hard to chew, less salt, no flavours absolutely. the red sauce was very tangy and overpowering. So the combination was very weird to eat - pesto chciken - super bland with very little salt and very greasy. overall nothing was 'rightly' cooked from time standpoint. So 2 stars for the side bread (yeah they got it right but its only bread). On top of this - i felt that the owner lady gave me a rude look when i entered the restaurant. There is no need to be rude to people if that was the case. People are buying your food at a premium. But again this is not considered in the rating.
We went a few times to De La Torre's, and went again after New Year's, but were greatly underwhelmed with the experience. The food was subpar, and the server was in a hurry to turn our table (even though it was 8 pm already) and tried to hustle us by frequently coming to our table, looking to see if we were done. She almost took my wife's plate before she was done. Very uncool and unprofessional. I don't think we will go again.

She almost took my wife's plate before she was done. Very uncool and unprofessional. I don't think we will go again.
S H A M E ! $20 for boiling grocery store gnocchi? What an embarrassment for a Trattoria! C'mon! My brother can't turn on a stove and he knows better than charging $20 for a buck-fifty dish. Sauce was okay. Not cool! Good service though - just go for wine and dodge food.
Absolutely horrid food. I’d have been better off cooking a meal at home. We ordered some arancini, bolognese, and a risotto. These are super popular dishes that any Italian would be ashamed to screw up. Not these people. The arancini was rancid and served in a hot yet watery, raw tomato sauce. The bolognese was completely unseasoned, pasta was somehow clumped together in big floury chunky bits while paradoxically also being overcooked, limp, and completely tasteless. The “bolognese” sauce was watery, had no meat in it, no salt or seasoning of any kind, and was made with unripe and undercooked tomatoes I can easily imagine coming straight out of a can. The parmesan shavings they used for garnish were stale and tasteless, obviously prepared from either extraordinarily poor quality parmesan or pre-shaved slices that were left in the kitchen for who knows how long. I didn’t personally eat the risotto but my partner told me it was bland, had mystery chunks of some sort of bland protein in it, and the cheese was stale. Other faux-pas I noticed while in the restaurant were as follows: Peak dinner hours but no customers under 60, salt and pepper at the tables as if doing it yourself is going to make up for a complete lack of seasoning in the food, an abundance of wait staff(most early college or high school age) for not nearly enough customers, the front of house looked tasteful but the back looked like a dungeon, etc. At the time we did not want to be rude so we paid the full (“fine dining”) price, tipped well, and quietly decided to never come back. This place needs a complete reset in the kitchen if they want to attract anyone with functioning taste buds. Be warned and beware.
I usually order a simple dish when I order from a place I've never been to see if they screw up a simple dish. I ordered spaghetti. It's not hard to get it right. Terrible at this place! Maybe the other dishes are good, but the spaghetti was over cooked, the sauce was watery, meatballs were soft and lacked flavor on both parts. Too bad that I will not go back and face another disappointment.
