Very good, and quick service! My food was so warm from the oven I had to wait fifteen minutes for it to cool!
The best Indian food I've had in the area!! Yanni makes the best Biriani...mmmmm💗
Had awesome lamb biryani at Yanni few years back ! Chef is a good gentleman.
The food was amazing! Both the Greek and Indian dishes were delicious and a very generous portion to boot.
Had the mango chicken curry and samosas. Delicious! On par with NYC Indian spots. Can't wait to try the butter chicken.
The chicken tiki marsala is amazing, better than NYC. Yanni is the chef and he is personable and will adjust his dishes to suit your taste. Homemade cheesecake and the coffee is always fresh.
Love Front Street Cafe. They offer something for everyone. Authentic Indian food. I eat here every week! Lovely, family-owned.
Indian food how did no one tell me this was here. I was pleased by the dishes we had will be back fer sure *** It never occured to me to take a picture we were enjoying it too much!
The food is fabulous and Yanny is so warm and welcoming. The staff is on point the service is top notch. If you like Indian this is your place.
Great Indian food, and great service. The Saag Maneer was delicious, as was the lamb vindaloo. It will clear up your sinus problems.
Always excellent. We go there for the Indian cuisine and are never disappointed. The chana masala and Vegetable Korma are delicious!
Two of us had Indian dishes and another friend had an American wrap. Our meals did not disappoint.
The food here is amazing! I love Yannies Indian food. But, there is something for everyone with great prices.
Indian Omelette was delicious and so was the coffee, the chicken wrap and service. Sat outside and enjoyed the last bit of summer!
Great Indian food! Had nice dinner after paddling the Mongaup.
Stunning Food. Nice family. Somosa and Chicken Ticca were so good. Cannot wait to go back next week!
First time I had Indian food. Excellent! Staff and owner friendly and welcoming
The food was phenomenal. Completely fresh ingredients and you could smell / taste the individual herbs.
Once again, my favorite spot in the Tri-state area, and my favorite spot in Port Jervis.
Excellent food and great customer service every time i go there. The daily specials are excellent as well
Great Indian cuisine, wonderful owner, still one of the best Indian restaurants in the area.
Good I love this place, spicy Indian cuisine at it's best! Great eats Yanny!
Love their authentic Indian food! The owner is really attentive.
Nice quaint place, very accommodating and friendly, awesome food to top it off. Stop here if you’re in Port Jervis or passing through.
What, a surprise! Really solid Indian food and a crazy diverse menu- greek/American/Mexican . We only ordered the Indian and it exceeded my expectations for a cafe not even marketing itself as an Indian Restaurant! I wouldn’t award it best in Orange County because it’s not quite as flavorful as Citrus- they beat Citrus in some ways - by having much more tender meat as reported by my husband who went for it with a Lamb dish. He was psyched. My kids also loved their tika masala, went down easy , very creamy. As a vegetable lover, It seems to me their veggies may be from frozen so to me that comprises flavor. The saag paneer had a bit of a frozen spinach edge. Very much glad to realize this place exists!!
What a surprise ! The menu has something for everyone. Very important is you can BYOB. The flavors in the Indian dishes were amazing. Started out with the Indian Sampler. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Definitely will go back again.
We've had takeout from here in the past, but ate in the restaurant the other evening. The food was delicious, hot, and nicely presented. They have a varied menu, but we've just had the Indian selections.
Right off the bat I had come in with 2 dishes already in mind after seeing their menu online. They're located in a small strip mall off of a free parking municipal parking lot (which can fill up extremely quickly as it serves a whole other main street with businesses and such) The chef/owner was sitting outside and immediately struck up a conversation, even asked me to join him sitting outside. Great conversation with him. The food I ordered was: Egg Bhurji, and their Jumbalaya Deluxe. The food was piping hot and freshly made, the execution was impeccable, and tasted amazing. A++ Highly recommend if you're looking for a nice place with great food!
I have been eating at Yanni's since they opened and the experience is always spectacular. There is a good variety of ethnic foods as well as delicious burgers, pizza, and the like. The service is always fast and courteous, the owners are friendly, welcoming, and helpful, and it is one of the most affordable places in the area.
Love this place. Excellent food, friendly staff. Helpful staff in giving recommendations & explaining the dish itself. Don't be afraid to try something new. I'm glad I did. Stop in and give it a try or order and take out. Already look forward to my next visit. Hmmm, what to try next....
This place is so charming. I ordered a chicken salad sandwich and it was easily the best tasting chicken salad I've ever had the pleasure of tasting. It was served on a perfect croissant.. the fresh rosemary is what made it absolute perfection.
Took the 50-minute drive to Port Jervis on a beautiful fall day, also wanting to eat Indian. Turned out that we loved everything about the Front Street Cafe. The owner was welcoming and interesting. And the food was the best Indian since we spent a month in India a year and a half ago. A bonus was the chai tea. We had been disappointed when trying chai at other regional restaurants. Our hunt is over. It. It reminded us of what we enjoyed daily in India.
We stopped on the way for some food, and got a really good surprise- very special and authentic food, delicious. Family owned, we had laughs with the father. Highly recommended
Garden salad with grilled chicken was fresh and delicious. Everyone else I was with who also ordered for pickup loved their burger, eggplant parm, and gyro. Am definitely going back.
My lamb kabob was so moist and juicy it fell off the stick , the bread was so tasty , my lamb vindooloo was full of spice. The restaurant was clean warm and inviting , we felt like family . Our first time in port jervis and it won’t be our last . MUCH THANKS , peace & love for the new year!!
Can’t go wrong with any Indian option at Front Street. My personal combo is the goat briyani with mango lassi. The single serving of any briyani feeds two very hungry people or three slightly hungry people. Bob apetit!
It's definitely a family restaurant where the owner is a charming gentleman. Good food and a relaxing atmosphere.
Great mix of American, Italian, Indian and Mediterranean food. They do all of them very well. Highly recommend the Dal Lentil soup. It's an unassuming looking cafe and I believe it's a BYOB, but the food is top notch as well as the service
Great food! The owners are truly beautiful beings, I love walking in, seeing families and couples, just sitting there dining. At some point, it's like sitting back, watching one happy community, on a picnic. Very nice!
Oh boy, this spells trouble for me! First time ordering from here and ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS lamb vindaloo tonight! Definitely going back to try the aloo ghobi, and some much needed breakfast choices other than the usual fare. Gloriously hot and spicy, as a new resident of Port Jervis, I’m thrilled! Solid five stars 👏🏽
Had a great vegetable biryani here. Portion size was pretty big too. Definitely wasn't hungry upon leaving. Owner was a really nice guy.
Loved the Indian food here. Couldn't believe my luck when I saw they had Indian cuisine in little ole port jervis. Huge portions, fresh, and lovely people. And I know my indian food coming from england!
Had the Indian omelette minus the green chili, it was delicious and so were the mixed vegetables & paratha bread it came with. The server was friendly & the chef & his wife came out and spoke with us. It was very clean & the atmosphere was pleasant. I will definitely be going back. While we were there another table was telling us how they make the most amazing pancakes as well, so I look forward to trying those in the future.
Excellent food. Fresh vegetable curries cooked just right. Generous portions. Attentive service. We’ve eaten at many Indian restaurants, and we’d definitely come back again. Plus they have a few tables for outdoor dining, great during Covid times.
Easily one of the best restaurants in Port. It’s a small space but the food is stunningly delicious!! They’re able to make things mild if needed. My bf and I are looking forward to coming back and to ordering takeout too! Definitely a new favorite for us and would very highly recommend!
Best food in Port Jervis....likely in all of the tri-state area! Simply the best Indian food I've had, and the service is beyond excellent.
Always a great meal here. "Yanni" the owner always welcomes you and treats you like family. Excellent Indian cuisine along with a variety of American and other dishes. I visit at least once a week if not more. Dine in or take out.. a great place to eat.
Cozy place with relaxed atmosphere. Nice variety of American and Indian cuisines. Our waitress was very helpful, as it was our first visit, with suggestions. She answered our questions with knowledge of someone who had experienced the food. Prices were reasonably average.
Oh my God could you ask for a better combination I'm sure I could but right now this is it not only does this place serve breakfast which has an awesome selection but they have a great mix of American Indian and a little bit of Italian on that menu. My friend took me here so that we can get lunch he got the tika masala which was absolutely delicious creamy and flavourful with huge chunks of meat in it and I got a lamb gyro platter also amazing great flavor sir there were so many things to choose from I just haven't had a gyro in a long time and they made it perfect for made it perfect for me they also make fresh non which is delicious if you've never had none please go for it it's a yummy fresh piece of bread. Anyway I can't wait to go back here again there's way too much to try and I have to try especially it's hard to find good Indian food these days
These people showed unbelievable kindness and fed us when they were officially closed for a holiday and had absolutely no obligation to. You have my business for life. Thank you for a wonderful meal.
Front Street Cafe is a family run business with a diverse menu. You can order Italian, American, Indian, and more. They have specials every day. We always really enjoy the Indian food. Yanni and his family make awesome homemade meals, and we are always happy with our experience. For the price, it’s a really great place to have a homemade meal.
A little gem in the city. Cafe is an appropriate description. It's small but quaint. Friendly service. Had a Indian Omelet with mild spice. The flavors were tasty, lively and well done. Yes, i recommend this family owned business as a go-to for a quick meal.
It's an absolutely lovely experience you will love the environment and staff the food is beyond amazing you're definitely gonna want to come back for more that is a guarantee
Excellent, fully authentic Indian food- it brought back memories of my trip to India. Had a terrific dinner there when in the area- service was warm, food came out quick, and our 3 dishes were all tasty and well prepared. The biryani was amazing, and the gyro, tikka masala, and naan were all solid. A homemade rice pudding was a delightful end to our meal. The menu is very large and varied, so everyone would find something to suit their tastes.
Just had a wonderful breakfast here. Very intimate atmosphere which I love! Service was great! I have been searching for a GOOD local omeletand I am very happy to say I have finally found that omelet here! Will definitely be back to try more items from their menu!
Took my family here last night (party of six). The food was absolutely amazing as well the customer service. The owners and staff really go out of their way to welcome you. There is so much to choose from on the menu. I highly recommend the Indian dishes.. We all left full and happy.
The food was fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was cozy! My chicken tikka masala was very tender and flavorful with fresh herbs. My son rated the chicken tenders a 10 out of 10!
Well-organized gallery displaying various art including paintings and sculptures. Shows run approximately two months each. Also has some excellent jazz groups playing from time to time. Very comfortable atmosphere.
Great little restaurant! Affordable and delicious Indian food, and quick service to boot. It's a small space, but such a hole in the wall (for now!) that there's usually no problem getting a seat, either inside or out.
I order for my team of 10+ regularly from here. The orders are always accurate which has been very rare to find from restaurants in the area. The manager is a pleasure and goes out of here way to label all the orders. The food is always on point! My favorite are the Indian dishes but everything we had ordered has been very tasty.
One of two great places to eat in Port Jervis. Best chai ever, the Indian omelette is vegetarian and slaps so good 😊 Heard the red masala tea is amaze but it has never been available when I’ve have tried to order it at least 3 times now. Last time I ordered chai my cup was only 3/4 full which was a little odd but honestly I love this place so much I don’t even care!
We have been getting takeout breakfast on Saturday’s for the last few weeks. The eggs Benedict get better each week. My husband gets two over easy eggs, cheese , bacon on a hard roll. Food is ready when we arrive. Just delicious can’t wait to try other meals. Truly a gem highly recommend
Amazing food and very kind and friendly staff. I had curry chicken panini with rice. Chicken was very well seasoned and rice cooked very nicely. Also the menu contains a wide variety of foods. I had a nice conversation with the owners too -super nice people. Wish I could try their breakfast too. A must go place if you’re around.
Wow, one of the best Indian restaurants I’ve been to. A gem of a place, we came by the town from NYC and it’s hands down better than the Indian places we order from. Definitely make a stop. Got the shrimp Biryani, and lamb kabobs! Yum The chef even asked us what we thought and chatted with him a bit! Great service. Highly recommend.
Food for All. If you aren't sure what you want to eat... This is definitely a good place to go. They have a big array of choices. Indian, Italian, American, etc. Breakfast, lunch and dinner. Seating inside and outside. Small restaurant but man does that food taste good. I was here with my wife and 3 kids (all under 4yrs old). The waitress was very attentive. The bathroom was clean. There is plenty of parking. We'll be back here again.
Excellent Indian food in an okay setting. I recommend it wholeheartedly!
Food was good. Went for my muslium coworker. Wasnt too sure about the hallal.
The FOOD is often better than VERY GOOD and they have never refused to make me something differently than offered on the menu. The decor for this area is very nice and the atmosphere is comfortable. It is very clean! Service is above average.
The only place to get Indian food around Sullivan county, which makes this place a godsend! Don't know what we would do without them.
The salmon was hot & excellent. Their menu is extensive and has specialty foods and common things like hamburgers. Very good. Recommended.
All we had was a coffee and buttered roll. Hard to mess that up. Was my first time there. No major complaints.
Good for a quick bite. We were traveling through and the menu had something for everyone at a reasonable price. Would go back!
Good food and very friendly service. Very delicious Indian food and great breakfast menu
A wonderful chef that is happy to personalize a meal. Great service is found here. Lovely wait staff.
If your ever in the Matamoras area, this is the place to go for different eats. The food is great. They have everything from traditional curry to regular items like hamburgers. They also have many different cuisines from around the world. Service for kids is very nice also. I give it a thumbs up and will probably go many times in the future. They have improved their restaurant since I was there and are now very nice and clean.
Diner style menu! Thought it was an Indian Restaurant! Italian food too! Amercan cuisine! Prices are high considering the location. We had the Samosas, fried veggie fritters, Dahl lentil soup which was excellent! The eggplant with brown rice was good and the home made fried cheese with spinach dish was delicious! We also had the mango yogurt drink which was not so great and overpriced! Cute little place! Very nice people! Great to have something other than Chinese and Pizzerias!
Very good food. Nice, friendly people. Server was helpful recommending my very first Indian dish and it was delicious! We would definitely come back!
Not bad! I will confess that I only ended up there because everything else within walking distance of the Port Jervis station was closed on Monday (what? whaaaat??), and it was raining, and I was starving, and seriously. Everything else was closed. Having said that... I'll probably be back. The atmosphere was really cozy and relaxed; the staff treated me as if I were truly welcome there, not just a customer; and the food was actually tasty. I went with the Indian menu, and sure, it wasn't the best Indian I've ever had, but it was really delicious. I enjoyed every last bite, including the leftovers.
Got takeout from here! I ordered the chicken korma and it was so sweet, but the curry burger is delicious! Restaurant itself is very small
It was my first time visiting because where I usually go is closed on Mondays. They were open. The place is somewhat small but clean. Indian food was pretty good. I had the curry chicken over rice.
Great food. Love the flavor. Chef was very nice. Service could’ve been friendlier. It did get better before I left though.
First time to this odd but obviously beloved eatery in Port Jervis. Every customer seemed to have a lovely familiarity with the owners which is always good to see! The menu is very large and had American, Italian and Indian food. That's a lot of cuisine to cover and we stopped in because we were interested in the Indian food which is not that common in the area. We shared the Indian appetizer platter and the spicy basmati rice and peas. The rice was delicious buttery, nicely spiced with caramelized onions. The platter was not as good, but we liked the veggie samosas. The yogurt sauce was not that tasty with all that fried food and none of the traditional tamarind sauce. I had to ask for mango chutney. They didn't have chili sauce which I thought was strange.
Cozy place, never overly busy. Waitresses are always outside either on their phones or smoking. Food is excellent though!
Excellent food. But I can't give 5 stars for a couple reasons. 1) They sporadically don't open with no notification/reason on Facebook. 2) They have a creepy waiter who hovers around your table, stares too long and jumps in on your conversations. Just overall makes me and my family uncomfortable. There is room to improve if they bring back female waitresses and opens up or change their days/hours of operation in Google to their actual days that they are in working order.
The breakfast fell short of what I expected. The breakfast sausage links ruined it ! They served three links that were very over cooked ( almost burnt) and they didn't taste good. The eggs were easy over but appeared to be cooked in an already used pan or surface...the whites weren't really white. The toast was ok. The home fries were very good !
Breakfast was sub par. I would still like to try the dinners they have at some point.
Extremely mediocre Indian food everything tasted idk just boring. I asked for mild everything was too spicy. Garlic naan, cod masala. Some mushroom thing that they forgot to put mushrooms in. Maybe im spoiled from eating at citrus . Will not return
My First time there...TERRIBLE I will not eat there again. The server we had was Snotty and the food was Horrific. I couldent event Finsh the food and nor could my friend Meghan. We went out to eat to catch up and we felt so sick after. Don't eat here!!! Find a different place to eat!! YUK!
Food is not fresh ,,, frozen Indian food cook at this place ,,, rice is not basmati rice ,,, never go to this restaurent again ,,,it serves 3 kinds of food American,Italian and Indian , I am sure none of any food will be good there
This is the only bad review you will see because from my experience last time i came and had this indian food it was the best i’ve ever had. Today i was craving some indian food and my dad went and ordered. It is not the same at all. Now i don’t know if there is a new owner in charge, if there’s a budget? i know prices are rising and for me and my father it came out to be $40 +!! the nann was stale, the mango lasse isen’t very much a thick creamy smoothie like it use to be it’s literally just milk. Im very disappointed because i remember the food was so great. The prices are ridiculous as well for the food to be in this condition. The flavoring of the butter chicken is not the same either
I’m a little confused why this restaurant has 4+ stars. My family went in there with high hopes, Indian food lovers! 3 out of 4 of us ordered the korma, and the other ordered tika masala. The korma was just spicy coconut milk with dry chicken and the tika only tasted of tomato sauce. The naan bread was wet like It was make in a microwave. Unfortunately we will not be back.
I called at about 7 pm which according to this website is an hour before they close. I have never been here before and was interested in the food. I called to ask if they deliver and was told "no, I'm about to close anyway". Wow. I mean what customer service. Before I even had the opportunity to judge this establishment based on the quality of the food I was denied the opportunity to do so. I replied ok and we hung up. Respect for this place was immediately lost because I have ordered from others nearby who 5 minutes before closing accommodated me and took my order. Based on the lack of customer service alone I must give this place 1 stars.
Ordered chicken curry with a side of chickpeas and only got rice and chickpeas for $22. Do not eat here unless you check your order because they will mess up your order. Check before leaving. They also gave me burnt nam.
