Lovely evening spent here. Staff were friendly, didn't have to wait long for food to arrive but also didn't feel rushed. Food was super tasty. Will have to make a return visit as such a good selection on the menu.

Love coming here! Brilliant location, lovely atmosphere, staff are always lovely & polite and food is delicious! Always get the cauliflower fritter starter - if it were up to me, I'd have it for starter, main, side, AND dessert 😅

Wow. This place was amazing. Beautiful decor, amazing food, amazing wine, great service. This is quite literally the nicest place I've been in the area. Can't believe it's taken me 10 years to go.

Could not fault. Hearty food well presented by excellent staff. For me the Malaysian curry is definitely up there with the best I've ever had. All the meals were very good.

We both had the steak, smoked bacon and venison pie. It was delicious. Service was friendly and quick. We both love the cosy feel inside this pub.

The clog and billycock is a very welcoming and warm pub. The staff were amazing and very attentive. We attended on a Sunday afternoon, the roast menu had Something for everyone, the portion size was very generous and it didn’t lack in quality, everything was perfect. Will be back very very soon.

We are from Kendal, Cumbria so relied on google reviews when deciding where to eat. We weren’t disappointed. Food and service both fabulous. Bar man very friendly. Made our child free evening very enjoyable. Thank you.

Heard The Clog & Billycock were offering a Veganuary menu (although vegan options are on the daily menu) so went for lunch. Exceeded our expectations could not fault a thing, the food was fantastic beautifully presented and full of flavour....The desserts were a treat as you don't often see three vegan options. Service was excellent too and with a friendly smile. We would have visited for Valentine's too but we won't as the vegan option is cauliflower katsu curry, which is a cop out when you see what everyone else gets ie sirloin steak, chicken breast, lemon sole and duck leg especially as it's £45.95 per person. Unfortunately as good as the curry was today, we really would prefer to have something different.

Tastefully restored with flag floors znd several rooms. Open fireplace. Good menu. Had the cheese pie which was exceptional but bit disappointed with the £2 charge for a small dish of baked beans.

We were recommended the clog and Billy cock by a friend who is a pub connoisseur, and boy did it not disappoint! We received a very warm reception on arrival and were delighted by the cosiness of the place including the coal fire which was lit and glowing. The food was equally excellent; my lamb shoulder melted in the mouth! And the mould apple and plum crumble was absolutely bang on seasonal point! We can’t wait to come back and highly recommend this little gem of a place.

Lovely pub in a beautiful location. The staff were really friendly and helpful, making us feel welcome from the start. The food looked great and tasted just as good. Overall, a really nice experience—would definitely come back!

First visit today to celebrate Dad's 87th birthday. The welcome was very warm from Cameron, who was friendly, attentive, and great with Dad. ❤️ The food was of a very high standard, delicious, and the plates were hot, which I would have given another 🌟 for if I could! Nice touch to have a small dessert served with a coffee. The flat white and creme brulee were both delicious. And they put a candle in Dad's and sang happy birthday to him. 😃 Highly recommend it. You won't be disappointed. Thanks once again to Cameron and the girls. ❤️ 💙 💜 💖 We will be back soon.

2nd visit of the year 2024 once again superb food good service nice atmosphere. We'll worth a visit. Due to circumstances beyond our control we have not been for nearly 2 years. We were not disappointed . Staff were friendly and efficient . Food was excellent. Really enjoyed it . Will definitely be going back . ASAP .

A great place to eat, its not the cheapest but great to treat someone. 4 of us went and we had four mains, & four sweets along with 2 lagers, 1 cider & 2 cordial drinks. Being a vegetarian I had the Malaysian Curry & for the sweet I chose Crème Brûlée #Amazing. All together it cost £100. Seating area is very clean as are the toilets with a broken hand dryer that had a sticker saying "On Furlough". Spent two & a half hours there. Staff were very polite & help full. The cheeseboard which another guest on another table was having looked enormous. I'll have that next time I pay a visit.

Lovely drinks and food. The service is warm and the decor is really special. The views are also really stunning. Would definitely recommend! Not many vegetarian options on the main courses, but I had two delicious starters instead and was not disappointed!

I have been to the Clog and Billycock before but I have to admit it had been a while. I had forgotten was a great place this is. Great food and really pleasant surroundings. Located close to Blackburn, it is easy to find. Friendly, relaxed service with a range of beers on tap but it is the food that is the star here. A great range is on offer from small bites to main meals and tempting desserts (even if you are no longer hungry!!). I will aim to not leave the break between visits as long next time.

We came for lunch at this lovely country pub restaurant and I was blown away by the quality of the food and attentiveness of the staff. The chicken, bacon and leek pie was to die for and the portions were very generous. I had the fish pie which was full of flavour and proportioned perfectly. You could tell the food was fresh and home cooked. I look forward to coming back with my family and friends to spend my birthday meal. I definitely recommend a visit here.

Went here for a meal years ago and remember it being lovely, today we were driving back from Preston and i saw the sign and just randomly called in we didnt know if there would be a table as hadnt booked we got a lovely table and both had the most beautiful Sunday lunch cooked to perfection and absolutely top quality food , the pigs in blankets were beautiful, the gravy so tasty, pork crackling , apple sauce mmmmm we had the mixed roast with roast beef and pork loin and i recommend it , the beef was beautiful and tasty and the stuffing roasties and veg were all beautifully cooked i cant fault anything, we also had pudding because why not ?? sticky toffee pud and banana waffles both delicious. The girls that served us were very attentive but not mithering us they came at all the right times and were friendly and welcoming, so glad we called in as i have now booked for the family for my birthday in a couple of weeks . Well done to the chef and all the team you are doing it right . Thank you for a lovely experience.

Our family enjoyed a lovely evening meal here. The food and drink were delicious. The staff were very friendly and more than accomadated our young puppy inside, bringing a large dog bowl of water and a plate of treats. Thank you to all the staff for being so thoughtful. I would highly recommend this pub to friends and family.

I haven't been for a few years to the Clog and I'm thrilled we went today. The wait was slightly longer than expected but the food...sensational so worth the wait. I had a baby with me who needed changing and the changing room was not only clean and tidy but it had lots of changing things for you to use if needed which was fantastic. I've never been to a restaurant that's offered this service I was really impressed. The staff were also lovely and attentive. Thank you for a lovely enjoyable experience. I can't wait to return.

There was a lovely roaring fire as we walked in. The quiche was absolutely delicious and when we asked for chips in place of potato salad the staff were accomodating and helpful. The staff were very friendly, nothing we asked was too much trouble and they were happy to help. They even joined in singing happy birthday. I would highly recommend.

We went for lunch two weeks ago and the service was amazing. I had Venison pie which was piping hot , along with fresh vegetables, and later on a coffee liqueur. Because I am in a wheelchair I found they were very attentive to my needs. We have already been again and I have booked for next week to take my partner for another excellent meal. I thoroughly recommend the Clog and Billycock if you want something special.

Heard of it before, but only just got round to visiting. Went for lunch to celebrate our wedding anniversary. My wife had the Cheese and onion pie and I had roast lamb shoulder. Both meals were very good and had generous portions. The menu is good, and not to big as to be complicated, with a variety of choices to suit most people. The pub itself was lovely and clean with a light and spacious feel. Staff are polite and friendly, and prices, very good value for very nice food. We will be returning very soon.

Visited many times - one of our fave go-to places. Food & service always top quality. There’s a great circular walk from the pub which is smashing (although a bit muddy in winter months!!). Enjoyed meal and a drink on our return. Just perfect 🤩

Delicious food, covid safety was very good with one system in place. Could have been slightly quicker service but understand there's probably more to do with covid restrictions.

The staff members were warm, welcoming & polite. The food was immaculate, great taste & cooked to perfection. The outdoor seating area was lovely. The interior was clean. Will definitely return even if it is a little on the pricier side.

This is an upmarket, destination site and justifies its stance with its menu, ambience, quality and value. The house burger was routine but fine and the fish pie was really very good. I'd have liked a little more veg with the pie and the fries, although skin-on premium, were not homemade or otherwise distinctive. Would we go again, if we were in the area - definitely.

S
Simon Tomlinson

Service was impeccable. Food was good but lacking in salt & the frozen chips were a big disappointment. Rather overpriced.

We went to Clog & Billycock for Sunday lunch & it was lovely with great service! I’d say it was slightly expensive when compared to places in Manchester City Centre for a roast but the portion size was massive!

A lunch time stop off, which was very pleasant. My wifes pick on the way to our overnight hotel, cos she liked the name, and a good choice it was. Good selection of cask ales of the region and very tasty they were too. We both had burgers mine was a pork belly burger and it was lovely albeit a bit messy and my wife had a seafood burger which I was a bit jealous of. Lots of information about the area and a explanation of the pubs name and past landlord where the place gets its name, Billycock was a surprise to the both of us. Nicely done out pub with various sections to sit at. Service was friendly with a certain charming ambivalent pace, but no complaints on our side. It was a lunchtime service so atmosphere wasn't quite there but the place was still busy, I would think in the evening the place would be atmospheric. A bit on the pricey side but I seem to say that everywhere these days. I would definitely return next time I was up that way.

This used to be a favourite of ours but we are unlikely to return. Our favourite starter, cauliflower fritters has been removed from the menu. For a pub that has aspirations to be a quality country inn, serving frozen chips is an absolute turn off. If you want a drink before your meal, don’t let them take you to your table. You will wait ages for the drink to arrive.

A
Andrea Westall

Really lovely and kind staff but let down by the 2hr wait for main course which was luke warm and not worth the wait. No time for a pudding as the length of wait meant we had to eat our main course quickly and go home. Chips cold and chewy, fish oily and inedible. Was expecting some sort of apology or reimbursement but none forthcoming. Birthday meal spoiled. We won’t be returning to our nearest restaurant.

Pretty Woman

I was a visitor to the area. The food and comfort was very good here. I was with a friend and we both commented on being called "guys!" We are female, look female, are clean, elegant, well mannered and not rough and ready. One lady in particular constantly referred to us a "guys" which made us squirm. She was a tall lady in black strutting around, with an air of arrogance, keeping everyone in order. She had her hair up in a red clip. Being addressed as "ladies" or "everyone" would have been a better option. "Sir or Madam" IS a bit stuffy, but "guys?" We're ladies. Please.

Again poor service and average food… what has happened to this place, it used to be amazing ! Decided to give it another try after not actually getting food at all last time. Not a lot of tables occupied, staff stood around chatting, looked bemused when I said we had bee waiting for over 30 mins from finishing the starter, we did get offered a drink but I would of rather had good service and food Starters were nice, the burger was very over done and my salad was dripping in vinegar ( not in the description )
